BUG Apex4.0 AnyChart: apex_util.flash  - returning zero rather than null

[Line chart screen capture|http://www.anaruk.com/linechart.jpg]
The chart image I linked to above is a year over year sales chart. The first series returns 2009 Sales. The second returns year to date 2010. The problem is that even though the query returns no data for August through December of 2010 - because they haven't happened yet - the XML returned by the apex_util.flash proc returns those months with a zero value causing the chart to plot that data.
2009 query result set:
LINK MONTH SALES
- Jan 250
- Feb 230
- Mar 360
- Apr 130
- May 120
- Jun 180
- Jul 130
- Aug 280
- Sep 270
- Oct 250
- Nov 360
- Dec 410
2010 query result set:
LINK MONTH SALES
- Jan 130
- Feb 970
- Mar 170
- Apr 140
- May 110
- Jun 230
- Jul 440
XML for 2010 comes back:
<series name="YTD 2010" type="Line" color="0x1D8BD1">
<point name="Jan" y="130">
</point>
<point name="Feb" y="970">
</point>

</point>
<point name="Oct" y="0">
</point>
<point name="Nov" y="0">
</point>
<point name="Dec" y="0">
</point>
</series>
IF I modify and load the following, AnyChart correctly does not plot the last four months:
<series name="YTD 2010" type="Line" color="0x1D8BD1">
<point name="Jan" y="130">

Thanks for any feedback.

- made Subject more descriptive
- fixed three typos

Hi Walter,
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. The behaviour you have reported is the current default behaviour for handling null values on the Line chart, where they are represented as zero in the series data. I appreciate this handling is not what you would expect, particularly in your scenario, where you do not wish to represent certain points on the chart (AUG - DEC 2010), so I will revise this behaviour and include a fix for this in our upcoming patch release 4.0.1. I've logged bug 9945462 to track this issue.

  • OLAP query returning "name" rather than "key" attribute for a dimension

    Hello,
    I am busy with a project that involves drawing data from an OLAP cube (in SAP BW), then transforming and contextualising for use in an EMI environment. The project runs on MII 12.1.
    The standard OLAP connector and OLAP queries have been used (would prefer not to go the route of creating a call to the OLAP XMLA web service directly). One of the important dimensions is returned as a name (descriptive text) rather than a key (the cost element code itself), preventing us from reliably applying business rules to classify cost elements. Categorising cost elements based on their text descriptions is not a sustainable solution.
    The output needs to allow for two dimensions (cost element and an equipment identifier) against which individual cost values will be listed. It appears that the two dimensions must both be on the "x-axis", as result columns are automatically renamed, e.g. C000001, C000002, etc. If anyone knows of a way to suppress this renaming behaviour, please let me know.
    Is it possible to force the "key" attribute to be returned instead of the "name" attribute? I have identified two preferred options:
    1. MDX syntax of the query itself
    2. configuration of the OLAP connector
    I have not found a way to do this through MDX syntax, but would welcome any suggestions.
    Alternatively, perhaps there is a non-standard way of configuring the OLAP connector so that the key rather than the name attribute is returned for all dimensions. Has anyone anything, e.g. chosen a non-standard ColumnNameAttribute or DataTypeAttribute, in this regard?
    Thanks,
    Marc Chaplin

  • XL reporter to show zero rather than #Ref for account section with no value

    Hi,
    Customer is using 2007A PL30. They do not want Profit&Loss and Balance Sheet to show if the account is having zero value.
    Eg. Subsection of P&L report
    Payroll
    Salary                          0.00
    Bonus                          0.00
    Casula wages               0.00
    Total Payroll                 0.00
    Office Admin Cost
    Courier charges         100.00
    License fee               200.00
    Total Office Admin     300.00
    Total Cost                300.00(0.00+300.00)
    Expected result: Do not show anything for Payroll(no figure) but only shows those rows with figure and Total Cost.
    After I check the option in XLR\Advanced Report Builder (Do not display blank records), the system cannot display subtotal for Total Cost because Total Payroll is having #Ref. May I know how to overcome this problem?
    Regards
    Thomas

    Hey Thomas
    If I understand the issue then you need to resolve this in Excel.  If you have these requirements you will need to write VBA code to make this work the way you want.     You can go to http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/xlreporter/ and then go to the Files section and search for Method to exclude zeros.

  • Is it just me, or do most of the upgrade problems (not bugs) happen when updating "over-the-air", rather than using a computer and iTunes ?

    I have used iTunes on a computer every time, and so far have had no problems like the ones we are seeing here.
    Just want to reiterate - I am not talking about iOS 7 bugs - but just performing the update(s)

    Absolutely!!  I've had no problems upgrading the iPhone using iTunes.  It also allows me to backup the iPhone's settings so I can recover them if something goes wrong in the upgrade process.  I have always upgraded using iTunes and would not do it any other way.
    My wife upgraded to iOS6 directly to her iPhone 4S and lost her contacts and other information, and had problems with wifi access, etc.  At the next iOS change, I did the upgrade on her phone through iTunes and had no problem.
    Even MacWorld reports that upgrading "over the air" directly on the iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch can create instability in the OS.

    387561,
    For your information, I discovered this problem from
    running a query that did access an actual DB table.
    Try it and let me know.I did say I was only guessing, and yes, I did try it (after I posted my reply, and before I read yours). And I did check the query plan for the queries I tried -- to verify that they were actually doing some database "gets".
    In any case, the usual way that I determine whether a "ResultSet" is empty is when the very first invocation of method "next()" returns 'false'. Is that not sufficient for you?
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • BUG:  Apex4/Anychart5 - memory leak?

    We are running into a pretty serious problem with resources. It seems that there is some kind of interaction between Apex and Anychart5 that is causing a pretty serious memory leak. For example, in one dashboard I am building, I have 9 charts on a page. When I click through a chart to a second page, I have three charts and an Interactive report.
    None of the sql is really all that complex. But I will include one of the queries singled out by one of our DBAs as being involved in consuming over 20 GB of data (values slightly modified for security). The query:
    SELECT CASE
    WHEN quarter = 'Q1'
    THEN
    '/pls/apex/f?p=108:3:1111111111111111::::P3_YEAR1,P3_YEAR2,P3_CLICK_VAL,P3_QUARTER:2009,2008,2009,1:'
    WHEN quarter = 'Q2'
    THEN
    '/pls/apex/f?p=108:3:1111111111111111::::P3_YEAR1,P3_YEAR2,P3_CLICK_VAL,P3_QUARTER:2009,2008,2009,2:'
    WHEN quarter = 'Q3'
    THEN
    '/pls/apex/f?p=108:3:1111111111111111::::P3_YEAR1,P3_YEAR2,P3_CLICK_VAL,P3_QUARTER:2009,2008,2009,3:'
    WHEN quarter = 'Q4'
    THEN
    '/pls/apex/f?p=108:3:1111111111111111::::P3_YEAR1,P3_YEAR2,P3_CLICK_VAL,P3_QUARTER:2009,2008,2009,4:'
    END
    link,
    quarter label,
    so_ext_price Sales_2009
    FROM ( SELECT SUM (v.so_ext_price) so_ext_price,
    ('Q' || TO_CHAR (v.cal_qtr_num)) quarter
    FROM owner.materialized_view_mv@db_link_name v
    WHERE v.cal_year = TO_CHAR (2009)
    AND v.account_number IN
    (SELECT *
    FROM TABLE(user_pkg.get_customer_numbers (
    'APP_USER',
    'USER_PROPERTY',
    'CUSTOMER_NAME'
    -- THE ABOVE SUBQUERY SELECTS FROM A PIPELINE FUNCTION TO RETURN A LIST OF STRINGS
    GROUP BY v.cal_qtr_num
    ORDER BY v.cal_qtr_num)
    As you would expect, this query returns 4 records reflecting sales by quarter. The query takes about four seconds to run. Explain plan cost is just under 14K. The pipeline function literally returns a single column of about six values using a simple select distinct where the parameters passed are filters in the where clause. The pipeline function returns in approximately 1 second. The largest result set it ever returns is six rows. The pipeline function is innocuous on its own but I am suspicious that it may be where we're running into issues. We weren't seeing these problems (or at least they weren't as noticeable) until we needed to use pipline functions. 'Don't use pipeline functions' is not an acceptable work around in our case. While I can figure out a way around it in the charts by returning SQL from a function, I cannot do so in the interactive reports.
    What our DBAs found is that the code pasted below is what was sucking down 22 GB of ram, then after clicking through to the second page the same code (for a different chart query) was consuming 17 GB of ram almost depleting our 48 GB of ram on our server in less than ten minutes. I disabled the chart running each 'offending' query and we had the same results with a different chart but the same underlying code below.
    I don't know where in Apex this lives but it's the killer. Can I get some feedback? Anyone else having similar issues?

    Thanks for looking at this post. We have resolved the issue for ourselves by working with our DBAs to narrow down where the problem actually started. We found that the particular SQL we were looking at was not the issue. In a chart on a subsequent page (via a click through), we were actually running into where apex was starting to consuming memory but we were catching it later.
    What we found was that when we had a chart query that was SQL containing a pipeline function, the memory usage went up. And within 10 minutes, the server would crawl to a halt. To release the memory, the DBAs would have to bounce the Apex instance. When I changed the query to be a function returning SQL, the problem stopped. I don't know what the correlation was between SQL and moving to a PL/SQL function returning SQL.
    I am not even 100% positive of the pipeline function being the cause. I only know that this started happening about the same time as when I implemented the pipeline function. I understand you are leery of a one-second function/query running up that kind of utilization. No one here believed me either (including me really). We figured it HAD to be a coincidence. But once I changed the query from SQL to a function returning PL/SQL, our problem went away.
    Thanks to all who looked at and thought about this.

    QA: Yes - please make sure IE8 works with AMF.
    Doc: No
    Details: AMF does not work all the time in IE8 due to some IE8 and/or Flash Player bug. Setting the Content-Type in HTTP responses to text seem to resolve the issue. We're adding a temporary solution to change the Content-Type when IE8 is being used. This is not on by default though, user has to opt-in with this configuration option in channel definiton:

  • How can I to return to the same position on a web page where I left it, rather than automatically getting returned to the top of the page?

    It's annoying to keep returning automatically to the top of a web page that I often navigate away from--eg, Google News--rather than to the position I was at when I left it. I've looking over the Firefox settings and can't find where the default can be changed.

    Try holding down the ALT key while you hit the left arrow key.
    But in some cases, the webmaster may have configured the page to load from the beginning again. There's not much you can do about that unfortunately.

  • Global Temp Table, always return  zero records

    I call the procedure which uses glbal temp Table, after executing the Proc which populates the Global temp table, i then run select query retrieve the result, but it alway return zero record. I am using transaction in order to avoid deletion of records in global temp table.
    whereas if i do the same thing in SQL navigator, it works

    Hi,
    This forum is for Oracle's Data Provider and you're using Microsoft's, but I was curious so I went ahead and tried it. It works fine for me. Here's the complete code I used, could you point out what are you doing differently?
    Cheers,
    Greg

  • Query returns zero records in coldfusion context, but works fine in Navicat

    I've got a query that's returning zero records when I load a page.  If I copy and paste that same query (from the debug output) into navicat, I get rows returned (as I expect).  Has anyone seen this?  It happens locally (CF9) AND remotely on our staging server (CF10).  Even weirder, it's a query that was previously working fine - I simply added an if statement to the where clause, and all of a sudden...
    Here's the query:
            <CFQUERY name="LOCAL.getEncounterServices" datasource="#REQUEST.dsn#">

                     AND c.EncounterID = <CFQUERYPARAM cfsqltype="cf_sql_integer" value="#ARGUMENTS.encounter.getID()#">
             <CFELSE>
                    AND c.DateTimeClosed >= <CFQUERYPARAM cfsqltype="cf_sql_date" value="#ARGUMENTS.startDate#">
                    AND c.DateTimeClosed < <CFQUERYPARAM cfsqltype="cf_sql_date" value="#DateFormat(DateAdd('d', 1, ARGUMENTS.endDate), 'yyyy-mm-dd')# 00:00:00">
              </CFIF>
    Previously, it had just been:
                    AND c.DateTimeClosed >= <CFQUERYPARAM cfsqltype="cf_sql_date" value="#ARGUMENTS.startDate#">
                    AND c.DateTimeClosed < <CFQUERYPARAM cfsqltype="cf_sql_date" value="#DateFormat(DateAdd('d', 1, ARGUMENTS.endDate), 'yyyy-mm-dd')# 00:00:00">
    With no IF/ELSE statement.
    Anyone seen anything like this before?  Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    Right, I'll start disabusing myself of the DateFormat!
    I'm sorry, I should've posted the actual query too.  It's inserting the first part - "AND c.EncounterID = ....."
    Here's the full query:

  • Multiple charts load in a page fails displaying the apex_util.flash url

    I have a dashboard with 4 charts (3 flash charts, 1 html chart) in four regions. Dashboard displays all the charts initially. When i keep reloading the dashboard (as one of the chart is a drill down chart which results in reloading the page), one of the flash charts does not get displayed, instead i see the url (apex_util.flash?p=105: ), it is essentially the url for retrieving the flash chart contents which displayed in place of the chart. If i reload the dashboard again then the chart gets displayed. Any reason why this is happening and how it can be avoided.
    Thanks in advance.

    I am facing the same issue. For me the charts never get displayed. The reports works fine.
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Mehabub

  • Text box - I hit return and it exits rather than starts a new line or point

    Ok so I'm a very basic user of indesign, and we are still on CS2, but can someone please help with this.   I start a new text box, and type - the wrapping works, but if I want to start a new line or do a bullet list , hitting the return key exits the text box, rather than starting a new line.  I cant find anywhere to alter the formatting.  Have tried resetting to basic paragraph format.

    This is more common on laptops than I would have imagined. If you like having the numlock on, you'll probably want to remap the numpad enter.
    Turn on numlock, then Edit > Keyboard shortcuts... Set the product areae at the top to Type Menu and scroll down to Insert Break Character: Paragraph return. Click in the new shortcut field and hit the numpad enter key, then change the context field from default to text. You'll have to save this as a new custom set and select it for use. Both enter keys should now work with numlock on or off to insert a paragraph break. You can creat a new shortcut for the column break if you like at the same time.

  • TotalVHDCapacity attribute is returning zero in "Get-SCVMTemplate | select Name, TotalVhdCapacity" powershell command though the Vhd capacity is 20 gb in size, vmm 2012 r2

    Hi All,
    TotalVHDCapacity attribute is returning zero in "Get-SCVMTemplate | select Name, TotalVhdCapacity" powershell command though the template has Vhd capacity is 20 gb in size, vmm 2012 r2. I can create VM using this template too.
    For other templates it is returning correct value though.
    Can anyone help us understanding the root cause and the solution too.
    Thanks in advance.

    I booted this drive from another computer (Asrock M3A770DE mobo) and works fine, speed with dd was ~100MB/s
    I also update bios on my first computer with Intel D945GSEJT (there is selected AHCI mode) still the same transfers with dd (~10Mb/s)
    I have no idea what to do with it now
    EDIT:
    More tests with other hdd (Samsung HD502IJ), dd on mounted NTFS partition:
    Intel D945GSEJT booted from Archlinux iso:
    hdparm: ~75 MB/s
    dd: ~10 MB/s
    Intel D945GSEJT booted from Archlinux iso, HDD connected to PCI SATA controller (Promise 378):
    hdparm: ~60 MB/s
    dd: ~10 MB/s
    Asrock M3A770DE booted from Archlinux iso:
    hdparm: ~87 MB/s
    dd: ~76 MB/s
    Asrock M3A770DE booted from Archlinux iso, HDD connected to PCI SATA controller (Promise 378):
    hdparm: ~81MB/s
    dd: ~76 MB/s
    What is broken on D945GSEJT?

  • Shadowing API Issues on 2012R2 (SM_REMOTECONTROL GetSystemMetrics and WTSStopRemoteControlSession) Always Returns Zero

    According to the MSDN article on the GetSystemsMetric API, SM_REMOTECONTROL returns zero if the user is not currently being shadowed but will return non-zero if the user is currently being shadowed.  It lists no restirction on OS support from what I
    can see.
    WTSStopRemoteControlSession also lists no restrictions on OS support in MSDN.
    I have a simple VB.NET application that calls these APIs.  It basically reads:
    <DllImport("user32.dll", CharSet:=CharSet.Auto, ExactSpelling:=True)> Public Shared Function GetSystemMetrics(ByVal nIndex as Integer) As Integer
    End Function
    Private Const SM_REMOTECONTROL as Integer = &H2001
    <DllImport("wtsapi32.dll", SetLastError:=True)> Public Shared Function WTSStopRemoteControlSession(ByVal iLoginId as Int32) as Int32
    End Function
    Private Declare Function ProcessIdToSessionId Lib "Kernel32.dll" Alias "ProcessIdToSessionId" (ByVal processID as Int32, ByRef sessionID as Int32) as Boolean
    retVal = GetSystemMetrics(SM_REMOTECONTROL)
    On 2008R2, retVal = 1 when the user is being shadowed, retVal = 0 when the user is not being shadowed.
    On 2012R2, retval = 0 no matter if the user is being shadowed or not shadowed.
    Dim sessionIDCurrent as Int32
    ProcessIdToSessionId(Process.GetCurrentProcess, sessionIDCurrent)
    WTSStopRemoteControlSession(sessionIDCurrent)
    On 2008R2, the shadow session will be stopped and WTSStopRemoteControlSession returns non-zero (indicating success)
    On 2012R2, the sahdow session will NOT be stopped and WTSStopRemoteControlSession returns zero (indicating failure).  LastDLLError returns zero as well.
    Has anyone else run into this?  Is this a known issue?
