Bug? db adapter master detail polling fails

Hi!
I encounter the following situation:
- I use a database adapter to poll for new data, using logical deletes on the table with a status field.
- I use a master-detail query
- I use a whereclause with a criteria on the detail table: for example I poll on emp but only for dept.DNAME='ACCOUNTING'.
When I use a reserved value (next to read, unread values) which is NOT NULL, the reserving goes wrong: I see that toplink tries to update the EMP table with a whereclause like this:
update emp
set status = 0
where status = 1
and dname='ACCOUNTING'
when I remove the reserved value it all works as it should.
Is this a bug?

Hi,
It's the way toplink works... And I think pretty much every Relational to Object mapping tool will do the same...
What you're actually telling toplink to do is to select the suppliers 101 if it has at least one product with the status S... As supplier 101 has a list of products toplink will return all of them...
For this to work the way you want, and in my opinion it would make much more sense... You have to invert your query, so it will return a productsCollection as the outter level (rather than SupplierCollection).. So you will have suppliers inside products, not products inside suppliers on your return...
Have a look at these...

  • Is this a bug? master rowid value lost when saving on a master/detail form

    master/detail forms seem to lose the rowid after saving, if the unique identifier is set to ROWID
    to reproduce the problem:
    1) create a master detail form on DEPT/EMP
    -- choose 'Managed by Database (ROWID)' on the 'Define Primary Key' page.
    -- do not include master row navigation (but i don't think this matters)
    -- choose 'Edit detail as tabular form on same page' on the 'Choose Layout' page
    -- include the master report
    2) on the master/detail page, change the conditional branch that returns to the master report page
    -- the normal condition for this branch is request in SAVE,DELETE,CREATE
    -- change it to request in DELETE,CREATE
    3) run the form and save a change
    -- saves fine, session shows the ROWID value is still set
    4) save a second change
    -- change does not save, form reverts to Create mode
    this problem does not occur when using the primary key columns instead of rowid
    see http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=60813:7 for the ROWID version
    see http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=60813:11 for the PK column version

    Hi Saverio,
    Bug *13563808* has been logged to track the reported issue, and a fix will be made available in a future release. Just to clarify, this issue is only arising when the APEX-generated Master-Detail is modified post-generation, so for users who have not modified their Master-Details using ROWID to manage their DML processes, they should not experience this issue.
    In relation to my workaround, my suggestion works in my test environment, which I verified before posting the initial suggestion. Please note that the 'Reset Page' process is, by default, conditional on the "Delete" button being pressed. If you have made further modifications to your Master-Detail page, then this might explain why you're seeing different behaviour to me. You might using the "Debug" option on the Developer Toolbar useful. Viewing the debug information should help you to decipher what's going on/wrong on your page. If you still can't resolve the issue, then the safest option might be to revert the page back to it's original state, meaning the user navigates back to the Report page upon submitting changes to the Master-Detail Form page.
    Regards,
    Hilary

  • Master-details fails working after exportCollectionActionListener init

    hi,
    in application developed in jdev 11.1.2.3, in bounded task flow i have a standard master table-detail table page generated by default wizard.
    on master table i defined an export-to-excel button:
    <af:commandButton text="To Excel" id="cb1">
    <af:exportCollectionActionListener type="excelHTML" exportedId="t1" filename="file1.xls"/>
    </af:commandButton>
    in pagedef the underlying table's ChangeEventPolicy is ppr.
    <tree IterBinding="Tab2View1Iterator" id="Tab1View1" ChangeEventPolicy="ppr">
    when i start application ,master-detail works fine.
    if i press button to call export to excel, the ppr stops working.
    i.e. when i change record in master table, no refresh happens in detail table
    what can it be? isn't it an jdev bug nobody noticed before?
    can it be fixed somehow?

    Timo,
    when you say ppr component, could you provide an example, a piece of code?
    what i proved as a working cure is execute query on master...
    as i found out further, the problem is somehow related to region.
    after export to excel button is pressed, i try to refresh current page fragment by navigating to another fragment and back.
    then i receive an error: component region1:1:t1 is not registred for active data...server exception during PPR, #1
    (region1 is my region, t1 is defined in page fragment)

  • Polling the master detail table and to update the LAST_UPDATED with SYSDATE

    Hi
    The requirement is polling the master detail table where read_flag is null and has to update the LAST_UPDATED with SYSDATE in both tables.
    Refered the MasterDetail and PollingPureSQLSysdateLogicalDelete samples of SOASuite.
    Used the delete polling strategy in polling process and modified the generated TopLink discriptor as follows.
    set the TopLink -> Custom SQL tab -> Delete tab with the following query
    for master table (RECEIVER_DEPT) :
    update RECEIVER_DEPT set READ_FLAG= 'S' , LAST_UPDATED=sysdate where DEPTNO=#DEPTNO
    set the TopLink -> Custom SQL tab -> Delete tab with the following query
    for Detail table (RECEIVER_EMP):
    update RECEIVER_EMP set LAST_UPDATED=sysdate where EMPNO=#EMPNO
    After deploying the bpel process data is updated in master(RECEIVER_DEPT) table with LAST_UPDATED as sysdate and read_flag as S
    however data is deleted in detail(RECEIVER_EMP) table rather than updated records.

    Xtanto,
    I suggest using JSP / Struts. UIX will be replaced by ADF Faces in JDeveloper 10.1.3 and thus I wouldn't suggest new developments to be started with UIX unless time doesn't allow to wait for ADF Faces. In this case develop UIX in an MVC1 model, using the UIX events for navigation because this model seems more likely to be mgratable, according to the UIX Statement of direction on Otn.
    Back to your question. You can create a search form in JSP that forwards the request to a StrutsData Action to set the scope of teh result set. The read only table can have a link or a button to call the detail page, passing the RoewKey as a string.
    Have a look at the Oracle by Example (OBE) tutorials that contain similar exaqmples.

  • DB-Adapter 10g: Filtering Detail-Rows in Master-Detail-Relationship

    Hi,
    I'm having a Master-Detail-Table e.g. Departments and Employees. Those are mapped with 1:N FK-Relationship. Using the Oracle SOA-Suite 10.1.3.5 DB-Adapter I'd like to setup a filter returning all Departments and all (e.g.) female Employees.
    For the example see: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11036_01/integrate.1013/b28994.pdf (chapter 4.3.9). Unfortunately, this doesn't work. If definining a where-clause empCollection.gender='female' I get the following behavior:
    - If a dept has no female emp, this department is not shown at all (however I want it to be empty)
    - If there is at least one female emp, the department and all employees are shown.
    Any idea on how to solve this problem would be highly appreciated!
    Regards,
    Johannes

    I gave it a try, 2 problems:
    1) the outer-join seems to be wrong. it provides me only departments that have at least one female employee. If I change that outer-join to:
    select DEP.id,DEP.name, EMP.id,EMP.GENDER
    from EMP, DEP
    where EMP.DEP_ID(+)=DEP.id
    and emp.gender(+)='female'
    it gives me what I want from sqldeveloper:
    select * from emp;
    ID NAME
    1 empty
    2 mixed
    3 male
    4 female
    select * from dep;
    ID DEP_ID GENDER
    1 2 male
    2 2 female
    3 2 male
    4 3 male
    5 3 male
    6 4 female
    7 4 female
    8 4 female
    select DEP.id,DEP.name, EMP.id,EMP.GENDER
    from EMP, DEP
    where EMP.DEP_ID(+)=DEP.id
    and EMP.GENDER(+)='female'
    ID NAME ID GENDER
    1 empty
    2 mixed 2 female
    3 male
    4 female 6 female
    4 female 7 female
    4 female 8 female
    2) However that doesn't solve my problem with the BPEL-Adapter. There I still get the folowing result:

  • "Failed to validate all rows" when inserting in master detail scenario

    Hi,
    I have problem writing data in a master detail scenario..
    i use the following bean method to write data.
    Data is inserted in the master table successfully but when i try to commit in the details table i get the error "Failed to validate all rows in a transaction."
    public void save(ActionEvent actionEvent)
    //writing into master table
    DCBindingContainer bindings =
    (DCBindingContainer)BindingContext.getCurrent().getCurrentBindingsEntry();
    DCIteratorBinding iterBind =
    (DCIteratorBinding)bindings.get("Master1Iterator");
    MasterVOImpl vo_pr = (MasterVOImpl ) iterBind.getViewObject();
    Row r=vo_pr.createRow();
    r.setAttribute("Name", name);
    Number num =(new oracle.jbo.server.SequenceImpl("new_seq",vo_pr.getDBTransaction())).getSequenceNumber();
    r.setAttribute("Id",num);
    vo_pr.insertRow(r);
    vo_pr.getDBTransaction().commit();
    //writing into details table
    DCIteratorBinding scopeiterBind =
    (DCIteratorBinding)bindings.get("Detail2Iterator");
    DetailVOImpl vo_sc = (DetailVOImpl) scopeiterBind.getViewObject();
    Row rs=vo_sc.createRow();
    rs.setAttribute("iddetail",iddetail);
    rs.setAttribute("Name", Name);
    rs.setAttribute("id",num);
    vo_sc.insertRow(rs);
    vo_sc.getDBTransaction().commit();
    Note: the Detail iterator used here is the one under the master in the AM

    In case your model defined a view link from master to detail should try to get the detail iterator from the master and use this to create the new row.
    Row r=vo_pr.createRow();
    r.setAttribute("Name", name);
    Number num =(new oracle.jbo.server.SequenceImpl("new_seq",vo_pr.getDBTransaction())).getSequenceNumber();
    r.setAttribute("Id",num);
    vo_pr.insertRow(r);
    // this method gets the detail iterator for the master row you just created.
    // The name of the method depends on the view link in your model you expose to the master view
    Row rs=vo_pr.getDetail().createRow();
    rs.setAttribute("iddetail",iddetail);
    rs.setAttribute("Name", Name);
    // this value should be added by the framework
    //rs.setAttribute("id",num);
    vo_sc.insertRow(rs);
    vo_pr.getDBTransaction().commit();Timo

  • Master - Detail relation succeded and the failed!!

    Hi all,
    I've made a master-detail relation between two data block using data block wizard with (copy value from item) property, this worked successfully for times and failed a lot of times!
    when I insert a record at the master data block the value is copied at the detail data block, but when I did the same thing for another time the value didn't copy!!
    to solve this problem I made a trigger at the detail data block (pre insert):
    :Master.Item-Value := :Detail.Item-Value
    this one succeded for the first time and then it failed!!
    I don't know what is the problem
    Note:
    I connected to a database server on another PC and work and save my forms at this PC.
    Edited by: Dev. Musbah on Oct 5, 2008 3:54 AM

    One about the important note:
    Thats exactly the missing point.
    If you assign the PK-value by a database-trigger, you have to read it back into forms after the insert.
    Three possibilities:
    1. There is a property at block level like "DML returning clause" If set to "Yes", forms will read back all values from the db after insert or update.
    2. Write an POST-INSERT-trigger at block-level and read back the ID by yourself using a cursor.
    3. Assign the PK-value already in the form in a PRE-INSERT-trigger and populate the PK-column in the database-trigger only if the pk-column is null
    hope this helps.

  • File Adapter with Master/Detail Use Case

    Hello,
    We are trying to model an inbound text file interface using the native format wizard to create a schema. The layout of this type of file would be fixed length with a header record followed by detail records like this:
    header1header1header1header1header1
    detail1detail1detail1detail1detail1detail1detail1detail1detail1detail1
    header2header2header2header2header2
    detail2detail2detail2detail2detail2detail2detail2detail2detail2detail2
    We tried everything to get the wizard to layout the fields in each of these formats using the multiple records, multiple types choice and with no success. Has anyone gotten this type of thing to work? The error we're getting is something about the first position of the second record needing to start after the last position of the first record which seems daft because each line is a separate record. There doesn't seem to be any detailed help on this wizard that I can find.
    Thanks.

  • Master/Detail Form based on view(s) - Bug?

    I made a master/detail form that is based on two views, and later master was a view and detail was a table. The form opens OK, but when I click query-button, the following error appears on the screen:
    An unexpected error occurred: ORA-01445: cannot select ROWID from a join view without a key-preserved table (WWV-16016)
    An unexpected error occurred: ORA-01445: cannot select ROWID from a join view without a key-preserved table (WWV-16016)
    When you create a form you are offered three different choices:
    1. Form based on table or view
    Build a form based on a database table or view.
    2. Master-detail form
    Build a master-detail form based on two tables or views. <---- ?????
    3. Form based on procedure
    Build a form based on a database stored procedure
    Is it at all possible to use views with master/detail?

    View should have a rowid. To create a rowid tables have to have foreign key relation. And also in where clause you should have PK-Field-Name=FK-Filed-Name statement.

  • Questions on Master-Detail HTMLDB HOW-TO

    Hi all
    I have created a 3 page application based on the master detail how-to given at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/htmldb/howtos/index.html
    Instead of DEPT and EMP tables I have PERSON and PERSON_ADDR tables. The PK of PERSON is the person_id and the PK of PERSON_ADDR is the person_id and addr_start_dt. Person_id column in PERSON_ADDR is obviously the FK to the master table PERSON(person_id).
    At first I had problems trying to create the pages themselves because the wizard always hides the person_id column on all the forms(and I don't want that,even though it is a sequence number I still want people to see it) , it being the PK, then somehow I managed it to display the person_id by replacing the EDIT link with the person_id itself. Now if a person already has an address and I click on EDIT then it copies the person_id values and others to the next page and all looks good but when I try to create a new address it does it ?? (It should take across the person_id as well)
    My PERSON report is on page 1, when I click edit against a person it takes me to page 2 where I can see+change all the person details plus I can see the person_addr details. When I click edit against a person address it takes me to page 3 and I can edit all the address details nicely copied to the new page but when I click CREATE on the page 2, then all the fields appear as NULL on page 3( all the fields but the person_id should be null here). How can I fix this ?
    Also, for my person address I would like to validate the address dates , there should be no overlapping start and end dates for a person's address. How to do this ? I think I will need to create a function to which I pass the person id and the new start and end dates and this function returns error message,if any, or null. I had a play around with validation and I think I need to use "function returning error text", what should I put in the "validate expression 1" box then...just something like
    begin
    my_function(param_1,param_2)
    end;
    If yes, then what variables would store the new start date and new end date of an address.
    Lastly, for every table do I have to user a sequence number or a trigger to define a primary key, what if the primary key is just a character code and I want the users to add it ?
    Thanks a lot in advance !!

    thanks Marc.
    Yes you are right, I used the 1.5 viewlet. I will try the master-detail wizard now.
    With the primary key problems, for things to work nicely in HTMLDB, do you suggest each and every tables should have a sequence number generated primary key ? We have some tables for various statuses like ACTIVE,CLOSED where these codes themselves are the primary keys, so you suggest making these codes unique keys but still have a sequence number PK ? Also when I want the users to enter the primary key themselves I will let them enter new ones but not update existing ones, so data entegrity is maintained.
    I was able to work out how to create validations using "functions returning error text" but my problem is I need to be able to compare what the user has just updated/entered with the data that already exists in the table. I have a table called person_Address having columns like person_id, start_dt,end_dt and various other fields. The primary key is person_id and start_dt and I need to put a validation which avoids any overlapping addresses. Overlap as in there can be only 1 active address for a given start and end date range. Does HTMLDB has something like :new.start_dt the way we can write database triggers ? Please suggest a way to do this.
    Lastly, how does HTMLDB handles error messages raised by table triggers. Can they be shown along with the item on the page as we can with the other HTMLDB validations ? I have many tables with all sorts of triggers and if any validation fails I generally do...raise_application_error(-20001,get_my_message(234));
    get_my_message function returns the message text for message number 234 . Will this message be displayed somewhere or not ? Do I have to duplicate my validations , once in the triggers and then in HTMLDB as well ?

  • Obiee 11g - Master/detail : How to initialize details ?

    Hi gurus,
    I'm using the last version of obiee.
    I have a dashboard with master/detail. The master/details are working great when I click on cells.
    But I have some "initialization" problems.
    - master/detail with a prompt list on the master table
    a change on the list won't initialize the detail. I would like to have the detail refreshed with the first row of the master.
    - master/detail with different order by on master and detail
    the initialization value of the detail does not fit with the first row of the master.
    Is it possible to achieve this ?
    Thanks in advance for your help.
    Emmanuel

    Hi Dpka,
    Thanks for sharing your view . I ,even observe the same 'error' message returining false value at the bottom-left of my browser when set up the Master detail even and clicked my table column to reflect the value in the graph .
    But my situation is bit tricky . I can't expose two different views to see if separating the interaction works well or not . In my case I have only 1 report with 4 compound layout(with pivot table(master) and Graph(detail)) having view selector . So this is practically not separable as this incurs loss of other functionalities.
    Do you have any suggestion in mind . I tried to see Supportweb and doesn't have any valid bug reported :(

  • Master-details query to XML file?

    Hi:
    I'm new in XML and Oracle. I want to create XML file from two tables (master-details).
    I made a small serach and tried some examples:
    Say we have these tables:
    CREATE TABLE "TEST_XML"
    (     "ID" NUMBER,
         "NAME" VARCHAR2(15),
         "AMOUNT" NUMBER,
         CONSTRAINT "TEST_XML_PK" PRIMARY KEY ("ID") ENABLE
    CREATE TABLE "TEST_XML2"
    (     "ID2" NUMBER,
         "NAME2" VARCHAR2(20),
         "AMOUNT2" NUMBER
    ALTER TABLE "TEST_XML2" ADD CONSTRAINT "TEST_XML2_FK" FOREIGN KEY ("ID2")
         REFERENCES "TEST_XML" ("ID") ENABLE
    INSERT INTO TEST_XML VALUES (1,'A',50);
    INSERT INTO TEST_XML VALUES (2,'B',30);
    INSERT INTO TEST_XML VALUES (3,'C',70);
    INSERT INTO TEST_XML2 VALUES (1,'AA',10);
    INSERT INTO TEST_XML2 VALUES (1,'AB',20);
    INSERT INTO TEST_XML2 VALUES (1,'AC',20);
    INSERT INTO TEST_XML2 VALUES (2,'BA',10);
    INSERT INTO TEST_XML2 VALUES (2,'BB',20);
    INSERT INTO TEST_XML2 VALUES (3,'CA',20);
    INSERT INTO TEST_XML2 VALUES (3,'CB',40);
    INSERT INTO TEST_XML2 VALUES (3,'CC',10);
    I want a query to create XML file contains data from TEST_XML table and for each row the related data from TEST_XML2 table.
    I did some tries (working in iSQL*PLUS):
    SET SERVEROUTPUT ON
    DECLARE
    v_ctx DBMS_XMLGEN.ctxType;
    v_file Utl_File.File_Type;
    v_xml CLOB;
    v_more BOOLEAN := TRUE;
    BEGIN
    -- Create XML document from query.
    v_ctx := DBMS_XMLGEN.newContext('select id,name,amount,cursor (select id2,name2,amount2 from test_xml2 t2 where t2.id2=t1.id) val from test_xml t1');
    DBMS_XMLGEN.setMaxRows(v_ctx, 10);
    DBMS_XMLGEN.setRowsetTag(v_ctx, 'CLAIM');
    -- Output XML document to file.
    v_file := Utl_File.FOpen('TEST_DIR', 'test1.xml', 'w');
    WHILE v_more
    LOOP
    v_xml := DBMS_XMLGEN.GetXML(v_ctx,0);
    EXIT WHEN dbms_xmlgen.getNumRowsProcessed(v_ctx) =0;
    Utl_File.Put(v_file,v_xml);
    END LOOP;
    Utl_File.FClose(v_file);
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN OTHERS THEN
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(SUBSTR(SQLERRM,1,255));
    Utl_File.FClose(v_file);
    END;
    But hte output wasn't as I wanted:
    <CLAIM>
    <ROW>
    <ID>1</ID>
    <NAME>A</NAME>
    <AMOUNT>50</AMOUNT>
    <VAL>
    <VAL_ROW>
    <ID2>1</ID2>
    <NAME2>AA</NAME2>
    <AMOUNT2>10</AMOUNT2>
    </VAL_ROW>
    <VAL_ROW>
    <ID2>1</ID2>
    <NAME2>AB</NAME2>
    <AMOUNT2>20</AMOUNT2>
    </VAL_ROW>
    <VAL_ROW>
    <ID2>1</ID2>
    <NAME2>AC</NAME2>
    <AMOUNT2>20</AMOUNT2>
    </VAL_ROW>
    </VAL>
    </ROW>
    <ROW>
    <ID>3</ID>
    <NAME>C</NAME>
    <AMOUNT>70</AMOUNT>
    <VAL>
    <VAL_ROW>
    <ID2>3</ID2>
    <NAME2>CA</NAME2>
    <AMOUNT2>20</AMOUNT2>
    </VAL_ROW>
    <VAL_ROW>
    <ID2>3</ID2>
    <NAME2>CB</NAME2>
    <AMOUNT2>40</AMOUNT2>
    </VAL_ROW>
    <VAL_ROW>
    <ID2>3</ID2>
    <NAME2>CC</NAME2>
    <AMOUNT2>10</AMOUNT2>
    </VAL_ROW>
    </VAL>
    </ROW>
    <ROW>
    <ID>2</ID>
    <NAME>B</NAME>
    <AMOUNT>30</AMOUNT>
    <VAL>
    <VAL_ROW>
    <ID2>2</ID2>
    <NAME2>BA</NAME2>
    <AMOUNT2>10</AMOUNT2>
    </VAL_ROW>
    <VAL_ROW>
    <ID2>2</ID2>
    <NAME2>BB</NAME2>
    <AMOUNT2>20</AMOUNT2>
    </VAL_ROW>
    </VAL>
    </ROW>
    </CLAIM>
    Notice that for each details (from TEST_XML2) there is <VAL> tag which I don't need beside i want a query which is applicable on all environments.
    May anyone help me please......
    Regards,
    Saad

    The following looks like it produces your desired output. I used the WITH to simulate your two tables so I didn't have to CREATE them. This runs on 10.2.0.1. I'm not sure what bugs you are referring to as SQL/XML is stable in 10g that I have seen. I'm sure some bugs exist somewhere in it, just not with this usage. Just start with the SELECT statement to run on your system.
    WITH test_xml AS
    (SELECT 1 ID, 'A' name, 50 amount FROM DUAL UNION ALL
    SELECT 2, 'B', 30  FROM DUAL UNION ALL
    SELECT 3, 'C', 70  FROM DUAL),
    test_xml2 AS
    (SELECT 1 ID2, 'AA' name2, 10 amount2 FROM DUAL UNION ALL
    SELECT 1, 'AB', 20  FROM DUAL UNION ALL
    SELECT 1, 'AC', 20  FROM DUAL UNION ALL
    SELECT 2, 'BA', 10  FROM DUAL UNION ALL
    SELECT 2, 'BB', 20  FROM DUAL UNION ALL
    SELECT 2, 'BC', 20  FROM DUAL UNION ALL
    SELECT 3, 'CA', 20  FROM DUAL UNION ALL
    SELECT 3, 'CB', 40  FROM DUAL UNION ALL
    SELECT 3, 'CC', 10  FROM DUAL)
    SELECT XMLElement("CLAIM",
             XMLAgg(
               XMLElement("ROW",
                 XMLForest(id "ID",
                           name "NAME",
                           amount "AMOUNT"),
                 (SELECT XMLAgg(XMLElement("VAL_ROW",
                                 XMLForest(id2 "ID2",
                                           name2 "NAME2",
                                           amount2 "AMOUNT2")))
                          FROM test_xml2 t2
                         WHERE t2.id2=t1.id)
      FROM test_xml t1This solution works in any environment where you can issue a SQL statement from, be it SQL*Plus, PL/SQL, Java, etc.

  • Photo gallery navigation Master/Detail

    I am trying to make a photo gallery with Master/Detail pages
    in one - which is working up to a point.
    I have 2 recordsets:
    - A: one with all records which displays thumbnail icons in a
    horizontal looper.
    - B: another with a single url-parsed value.
    With the help of Tom Muck's Detail Page Navigation Suite, I
    can have First/Prev?Next?Last navigation set to the recordset B
    and I can have the full set of thumbs with links to the
    correct pic.
    What I can't figure out is how to get the thumbnail icons to
    have a 'Down' state based on the URL variable. I have tried onload
    image swaps based on the dynamic id of the thumbnail images, to no
    avail.
    Any suggestions much appreciated.

  • Error in Master Detail Form

    Hi All,
    i m getting the following error when i m creating a master entry ...
    ORA-06550: line 5, column 23: PL/SQL: ORA-02289: sequence does not exist ORA-06550: line 5, column 16: PL/SQL: SQL Statement ignored ORA-06550: line 8, column 16: PLS-00364: loop index variable 'C1' use is invalid ORA-06550: line 8, column 9: PL/SQL: Statement ignored
    but while creating the master detail form i had specified the corresponding sequences and they even exist in the DB.
    Please ! do help me .
    Thanks & Regards,
    Nandini Thakur.

    Hi ,
    Though u choose the schema name ...the sequence is not appended with the schema name .
    Example you are craeting the application in schema 1 and ur database objects are in schema 2.
    so while creating the Master detail form you will get the option of choosing the schema, but then also the sequence name is not appended (as this may be the problem or bug in apex) .
    so one needs to manually go and append the schema name.
    In master detail form one needs to append it
    1) Form of the Master ...the process called as get primary key there the sequence name should be appended
    ex:- myschema.seq
    2) another is the detail tabular form . here you need to good to the id hidden field and edit it , then in the source column append it with the myschema.seq.
