[Bug] Default control style ignored in classes

Taking time out from LVOOP before I break something I may regret to report a bit of a nuisance. What is cheesing me off today is that my default control style (system) is being brazenly ignored by LV inside VIs which are owned by a class. All controls/indicators created are modern. argh. Could be worse, it could be making everything silver.
1. set default style to system or silver or classic
2. in a vi outside of a class, drop a constant on the BD and create indicator -> should match the style set in 1
3. in a vi inside of a class drop a constant on the BD and create indicator -> modern style
Also, the scripting VIs for methods and accessors ignore the preferences for default label position. At least that one I can fix myself.

Thank you for your feedback. I tried creating indicators inside of a VI in a class and it observed my default control style in LabVIEW 2013. Which version of LabVIEW are you running?

Working with Agilent 54XX VIs, want to change control style

I'm writing a master control VI for an Agilent 54624A oscilloscope that uses a USB/GPIB connection, using the VI libraries that LabVIEW has. When I create a control for one of the VIs by right-clicking on an input terminal, the master VI drops down one of the ugly-as-sin Classic controls. I tried setting the default control style in my VI through File>>VI Properties, tried the same thing on the Agilent VIs, and I tried using the Replace option in the right-click menu (but it only replaces it with an empty control. I found this VI that kinda works, but it changes everything in my VI, not just the Classic controls, which leaves me right where I started with the controls I don't want changed. Is there a way to directly edit the style of a control, without losing the properties (for example, change a Classic Enum to a System Enum and keep all of its Items)?

Right click Replace shouldn't cause you to lose the elements in your enum.
To solve your problem in the future for new controls created by right click Create on the subVI's, go to the Agilent VI library. Edit each of the VI's there to replace the controls and indicators with the style you want. Controls and indicators are inserted with the style of whatever VI they are being created from no matter what your default settings are for new controls. (It is more like a copy of the subVI's control rather than creating a new control.) Fix the subVI's, and you won't have problems in the future.

I am doing web development and when working with the wordpress dashboard tiny mce, each time I hit the update button the following piece of code is inserted into the page I am working on.

Something is scanning the h1-h6 tags and creating a table of contents and inserting it into the page. This also happens when I use firebug on other random pages while using firefox.
I have tried several other browsers to determine if this is a wordpress issue, but this only happens in firefox. It also only happens when I make changes with firebug in firefox. Using firebug lite in chrome did not cause this problem.
I have been looking all over to figure out what is going on and why the is happening. It is making development near impossible and is forcing me to use a different browser (which I don't enjoy at all)
Any help you can give me would be wonderful.

Is it always hidden with display:none?
One standard diagnostic step is to try Firefox's Safe Mode to see whether it is caused by a custom setting or add-on.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, restart Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode Safe Mode] using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the Safe Mode dialog, do not check any boxes, just click "Continue in Safe Mode."
If the inserts stop, this points to an add-on as the problem. Figuring out which one it is would be the next step. (If the TOC is always hidden, perhaps it is something SEO-related.)

Define Default Image Style option ignores Inline setting

I am writing my Vectorworks training manuals using Pages 09 which have a lot of images in them. I want all my images to be inline not floating.
I have followed the instructions in the Help to set my default image style.
I select an image, choose outline, shadows, and inline from the Inspector and then choose Define Default Image Style from the Format/Advanced menu.
All the settings EXCEPT the Inline are saved. And having to change from Floating to Inline each time is a real pain.
What am I doing wrong?

Floating Image is not an attribute of the default image style.
A way around this is to drag a folder of your images into the Media Browser.
Select the image you want in the media browser, copy and click into the text where you want the image and paste. You can also copy and paste from the desktop.
This demonstrates several elements of the poor UI design in OSX.
1. That the obvious (drag & drop) doesn't work as expected
2. Inserting the cursor where you want the image then going to the media browser, loses the focus in the document.
3. The focus does not stay consistent between selection and insertion points.
4. Dragging in text from the desktop behaves differently and does go into the insertion point.

btw How goes with VectorWorks? We really need a drawing program to fill in the gaps in iWork. Particularly useful would be one that can save Pages' Shapes and allow drag & drop/copy & paste Shapes into Pages documents.

Change an existing controls style

I'm in the process of upgrading a large application from LV 8 to 2011. I would also like to update the UI to use the System control style instead of Classic, which is the current style. Is there a way of modifying a controls style without having to right-click on each control, selecting Replace, and then the control you want?

I got a script started for you. For the script, you just need to do duplicate case for each type of controls that you want to modify. I already did the numeric and string cases for you.

   Turn ?\226?\128?\147isloate-styles off in 3.0 compatibility mode. This flag also turns on the hidden option ?\226?\128?\147allow-duplicate-default-style-declarations which is what fixes the bug.

How do I change the default paragraph style from Body Text?

The default paragraph style in my email setup is Body Text. This does not wrap properly for some recipients, but Paragraph does. How do I change the default so that Paragraph is automatically used when I start a new email?

There are two types of defaults: defaults for all new documents and defaults for the current document. To change the default for any open document make sure no text frame is active and change the formatting as desired in either the Control panel or the Character and Paragraph panels. To change default formatting for new document (those not yet created) do this while no file is open. You can’t change the defaults for several documents at once without a script.

Pages Default Hyperlink Style

I want to change the default hyperlink style but don't see any means to. The default is the blue underlined text which is a bit MS Word. I can create a new style and convert it but this is an extra step I'd like not to have to take!

Yes, but we are talking about cutting and pasting text which contains URLs into a Pages document. Pages has its own style for hyperlinks - blue text that is underlined. This is what I wanted to alter.
Anyway I found a solution for anyone else who is looking to do this.
Make a new character style of how you want the hyperlinks to look, e.g. no underlining, but bold text. When you insert the text and Pages auto-detects the hyperlinks and applies its own style, but click the downward arrow next to "None" in the character style window, and choose "Select All Uses of None" and it will highlight all the hyperlinks. You can now click your character style and it will be applied to all the hyperlinks.
I don't know if this is a bug as such (as the style is not "None" - it is Apple's default style for hyperlinks) but at least it does the job.

How to change the default text style?

The MacOS system seems to maintain a collection of text 'styles' available in applications such as TextEdit, Bean, MacJournal, Notebook and DevonThink. This collection contains a default style, used by some (but not all) of these applications as the default text style for new documents.
At my computers this default style is characterized in the 'favorite styles' panel as 'left aligned, spacing 0.0x' and it has strange tab stops (0.99, 1.98, 2.96, 3.95, 4.94, 5.93, 6.91, 7.90, 8.89, 9.89, 10.86, 11.85 cm).
I prefer tab stops at 1.00, 2.00, 3.00 etc., and 1.2x line spacing.
I guess I have changed the default style by accident, as I cannot imagine Apple putting such strange tab stops in a default style (0.0x spacing sounds a bit strange too). If so, it must somehow be possible to change the default style.
I have tried to change the default style via TextEdit (which does not use the default style as default, but spacing 1.0x and tab stop at each centimeter) and several other applications (Bean, MacJournal, Notebook) in the following way: select a piece of text with the intended format, open the document styles panel, click 'Add to Favorites', enter 'Default' as the name for the style and click 'Replace'. Unfortunately, that doesn't work. Although I do not get an error message, the Default style hasn't changed. I can save my preferred style as, for example, 'Preferred' but that does not prevent MacJournal and other applications from using Default for every new document.
Any idea how to change this default style, or, if that is not possible, reset it to its original state?

It won't help you in defining styles, as such, but will give you templates wherein you can set up styles.

How get controls name from a class private data?

How can i get the names of the controls inside a class private data?
I am using Actor Framework and trying to create a method tha will be executed when launch the actor. This method need a list o all the control names inside the class data to search for the initial value inside a configuration file (config.ini), the key on the configuration file will be the name of the control.

You are already making the overriding method just because you have to write to the Bundle By Name. And then how are you going to handle all of the data types the keys could be. You are making things more difficult than it should be for really very little benefit.

Disabling default control in pre-existing dialogues

I doubt this is possible, but is there a way to disable the default control in an existing dialogue? There are SDK callbacks available to modify, say, the publish collection settings. Normally this dialogue allows you to change the name of the collection and the Ok/Save button is active.
The SDK hints at changing the default when using an edit_field so Return doesn't just blindly accept the changes instead of inserting a line break in the edit_field. But this is /probably/ for dialogues views you create from scratch, not any of the provided ones you can tweak.

Of course, using an undocumented method entails the risk of not being supported in later versions or of not working as intended.

Can you edit the default link style in muse?

I'm not doing anything special, but haven't been able to change the default link style OR insert another link style to override it. Any help out there? Thx in advance.
