Bug: error message in error console if i reload a page while a javascript alert() box is displayed.

bug: i have an alert("haha"); displayed from an inpage button with javascript, and while the alert message is still open, if i do a refresh i get this error in the error console:
Timestamp: 2/5/2012 12:27:27 μμ
Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "prompt aborted by user" nsresult: "0x80040111 (NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE)" location: "JS frame :: resource:///components/nsPrompter.js :: openTabPrompt :: line 457" data: no]
it happens on every site that shows an alert dialogue box
online example:
[http://www.w3schools.com/js/tryit.asp?filename=tryjs_alert w3schools example]
press the "show alert box" button and as the alert box is open do a page refresh.

I didn't realize you could reload in that situation; I thought alert() was application modal. Hmmm...
In Firefox 13 beta 4 on Windows 7 I still see the error:
Timestamp: 5/22/2012 7:41:13 PM<br>
Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "prompt aborted by user" nsresult: "0x80040111 (NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE)" location: "JS frame :: resource:///components/nsPrompter.js :: openTabPrompt :: line 457" data: no]
I don't think it has any negative consequence. Did you just want to get it on someone's list to look at, or is it a problem for your page/application?
I looked in Bugzilla briefly and these sound related:
[https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=655181 Bug 655181 – modal dialog (e.g. via window.alert()) opened with meta refresh tag refresh page in background causes this uncaught exception: "prompt aborted by user" .. resource://gre/components/nsPrompter.js]
[https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=717248 Bug 717248 – Pressing backspace on alert() modal closes alert and triggers "back" functionality without firing onkeydown]
Both note the error when navigating the tab in different ways with the alert displayed. But... not much attention to them so far.

  • When downloading video to Facebook I get message "Firefox is preventing you from reloading this page" and allow button doesn't do any good.

when I try to download a personal video to Facebook I get the message " Firefox prevented this page from automatically reloading". I click the allow button which lets it start downloading but it only stays on 3-5 seconds then gives me the message all over again. At this rate it would take an hour to download a one minute video. I also get this message in other programs and I don't have a clue how to stop it. Help me please!!!

Website servers can redirect more than once, so you may not see anything happen and may need to click Allow more than once.
    See:
    * Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > General : Accessibility : [ ] "Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page"
The setting in "Tools > Options > Advanced > General" is meant as an accessibility feature, as you can see by the label of that section, so that people with disabilities or people who use screen readers do not get confused and is not meant as a safety protection to stop redirecting.

  • Bug Error but can't find what's wrong

I have a bug error next to on of my pages. I can't for the life of me find what's wrong. I have gone over every image in the page and they are all, I believe, linked the same as in the other pages but still - the bug won't shoo . When I preview, then things get really wacky. I thought I was on top of it and made some updates and then refreshed my site. Go see - www.juliakuskin.com. If you click on Children and then click on Landscape or Lifestyle, it stays on children... Please help?

    Nate,
I ended up creating a whole new page last night, linking it and posting it. The site now works but I will keep your emails in my file in case I get into this again. Thanks for your help.

  • Use alert box in javascript using xsl:message in Xalan

There appears to be a xsl:message tag in XSLT. According to W3C, the implementation is dependent on the XSLT transformer.
However, this tag output the message to my console.
I would on the other hand like to output the message
in a javascript alert box. I am using jaxp 1.1, the XSLT
    transformer is Xalan.
    Thanks in advance,
    taybw

As you surely know, Xalan is running on the server. That's why the <xsl:message> appears there. As far as I know, the only options available to XSLT implementors are whether the message will appear or not, or possibly whether it will end the translation abnormally.
Presumably you have Xalan producing HTML that will be rendered on the browser. If that's the case, then just replace the <xsl:message> element by some Javascript code that will pop up the alert box as soon as the browser loads the page you are writing.

  • I cannot copy and paste details from my bank statement into a word document, without the formatting changing.I have a message in my Error console which reads: server does not support RFC 5746, see CVE-2009-3555

Since transferring data from my desktop to my laptop, i am now having problems copying and pasting details from my bank website in to a word document, the formatting is all over the place. This didnt happen before, when i pasted the details in to the word document the formatting was exactly the same as on the webpage. If I use internet explorer, I dont have this problem, so, I can only assume it has something to do with Firefox. I have checked the "Error console" and I am receiving this message: server does not support RFC 5746, see CVE-2009-3555.

This happens no matter where I am browsing, yahoo, google, mail or news. Clearing the console seems to help with the speed of FF after an hour or so of browsing, it slows down terribly and if not cleared and or shut down and relaunching FF, both actually, it is painfully slow, like dial-up.

My computer will not disconnect from the internet.  It seems to find a clone router and continues even when I shut down and unplug my my own home iy

  • Why does the error console continuosly keep filling up ? in yellow, pink & blue messages ??

Ok, first I am using an older, slower Mac G4 400 Mhz, PCI, "YIKES" model machine. ..... The problem is that after browsing mail for 1/2 hr., Fire Fox slows down a lot. Most likely related to my machine speed. I understand that and this machine is a backup computer. I can cure the speed problem by closing FF, and relaunching it, and speed is fine for another 1/2 hr. or more. Then repeat the close and restart for speed reset as needed. This seems to clear a backlog of info. slowing down the CPU.
THE REAL QUESTION IS; Why does the ERROR CONSOLE keep filling up with messages in pink, yellow and blue, warnings, errors, and (blue) website not supported messages ??.
The message copy & pasted in the trouble shooting info. box is the first one to show up immediately after "clearing error console" window (5 seconds later), it will be filling up as I type now. and I don't know squat about coding or deep workings of computers, I am to old to start learning now, but it just seems to me that the "ERROR console" should not be filling up with every mouse click I make while browsing mail & websites I use everyday, that are working just fine as far as I can tell.
I have watched the error console fill up as I brows, usually 1 mouse click can produce 4 to 8 lines in the error console, clearing it out doesn't seem to affect the speed problem at all, so is unrelated to speed (??) I think.
But the Question is ??? why does the ERROR CONSOLE keep filling up with all these messages when FF seems to be working fine ????????
There are now 15 (PINK) separate lines of the same message in the console window, just while typing this out. 0
Reply to ;<[email protected]> ..... I am really curious about this and await an answer. Thank You. wayne

  • Under Tools/Error console, I keep getting a load of error messages. How do I stop this? Also, when I hover my mouse over something, I get a small blank box instead of expected info.

How do I stop all of the error messages under; Tools/ error console?
Why do I get a small blank box instead of the expected information when I hover the mouse over something?

    Hi,
    Try the following steps:
    1. Check windows updates.
    2. Try the Microsoft Fix it in this kb to remove previous install completely:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2739501/en-us
    3. Reboot.
    4. Try installing again.
This seems helpful on the issue.
As always, thank you for your suggestion, Don:)

  • How can I get help with message "server does not support RFC 5746, see CVE-2009-3555" from error console. Have recently update Firefox and my Virgin Mobile internet connection doesn't work.

  • New message won't load, security error in error console

Hello. I'm posting this here in case the cause of the problem is this error item. I can receive all messages in my different folders except for the Send folder. I can sync it if I restart TB, but subsequent checks (clicking Get Mail, Download Now or Repair Folder) do not work. The error console has this item in multiple entries:
Security Error: Content at imap://van%40mymail%[email protected]:993/fetch%3EUID%3E/Sent%3E3244 may not load or link to mailbox:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/phoenix/Application%20Data/Thunderbird/Profiles/3t4kz4uu.default/Mail/Local%20Folders/Drafts?number=149555299&downloadType=uploadedFile&fileName=twittericon-12px.png&blockId=48d0a45894056572b1570a00285e5f4483ac9eb2e89feffd&zgId=b54d79c69095249d&mode=view.

    Error 20, 21, 23, 26, 28, 29, 34, 36, 37, and 40
These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. Use the steps to troubleshoot security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
Also, check your hosts file to verify that it's not blocking iTunes from communicating with the update server. See the steps under the heading "Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > Mac OS X > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store." If you have software used to perform unauthorized modifications to the iOS device, uninstall this software prior to editing the hosts file to prevent that software from automatically modifying the hosts file again on restart.

  • How do I turn off the "Error Console"? It is popping up every second or less. I clicked on "Messages" and that slowed things down a little but it still keeps coming up.

This all started when I mistakenly clicked "Restore Default..." instead of "Done" when I was customizing the toolbars. How do I get the error console to stop coming up??
    Thanks!!

  • Error Console opens each time Firefox starts using latest stable version.

I open Firefox, it opens and it's Error Console opens. There are a history of information messages, warnings, and errors showing. Why is this happening?

Some mouse gesture extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) have been reported to cause that to happen.

  • How to disable the Error Console of FrameMaker11?

    Hi,
We use Adobe FDK to convert Frame files to XML and pass it as an input to another client. With FDK10 in Visual Studio 2008, the Raw XML was created with no errors. But, in FDK11 with Visual Stduio 2010, the Raw XML gets created fine but every created node is validated against some schema and throws XML parser error in the Error console. This validation brings down the performance of the customized client we use. Suggest me if there is any option to fix the issue or a way to disable the system default XML validation. Also, attached the error console for more details.
    Thanks,
    Venkat

The console that Venketraja is talking about is a "pod" in the Structured mode only and is unfortunately mis-named to be the same as the FrameMaker Console. This "console", AFAIK, can not be turned off in the current implementation of FM11. It has been discussed elsewhere, so Adobe engineering is aware of this issue.
@Venketraja, please file a bug report on this indicating that the inability to turn this off is drastically impacting performance. File it here:
    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform&product=63
You could also ask in the Yahoo Frame Developer's Forum, in case anyone ese has come up with a workaround. See: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/frame_dev
