Bug report - classic report lov defn retained when no longer relevant

Hi,
In January I spotted a case where, attributes were retained after a selection was changed, and related fields are hidden in the dev environment.
http://www.grassroots-oracle.com/2013/01/dynamic-action-hidden-false-actions.html
Anthony Rayner asked me on twitter for other examples and I just found one.
Classic report - column display as "Select list (query based lov)"
Add LOV sql.
Change back to "Standard report column" or "display as text...", save.
Change to "select list..." -> lov definition re-appears.
I actually founds this after setting the column to standard report column, then copying the page - the LOV was present in the new page!
Scott

Scott,
Thanks for following up on this. I have filed bug #16482841 for this, which will be looked in the next major release.
Thanks again.
Regards,
Anthony.

  • Bug in Classic Report based on Function?

    As a simple example, suppose I want a classic report in which I can change the sort field by selecting from the item P1_SORTFIELD. In Apex 4.2 I was able to implement the report using the PL/SQL function
    return 'select ENAME, SAL from EMP order by ' || :P1_SORTFIELD;
    I cannot do this in Apex 5 on my apex.oracle.com workspace. I either get an "SQL command not property ended" runtime error if I use generic column names, or "not all variables bound" parse error if I don't.
    My real application uses generic column names, so I am most interested in a solution to that.  For example, I tried creating a report having the source
    return 'select ENAME from EMP order by ENAME';
    If I run it using generic column names I still get the "SQL Command not properly ended" runtime error.
    Is this a bug??

    I cannot reproduce the same error messages in my workspace on apex.oracle.com.
    The basic problem here is that the function body will not return a syntactically correct SQL query if the session state value of P1_SORTFIELD is not a valid sort expression for the query. This will always be the case when the region source is validated in the App Builder, and also if P1_SORTFIELD is null at runtime. The solution is to ensure that the function body always returns a valid query irrespective of the value of P1_SORTFIELD:
    return 'select ENAME, SAL from EMP' || nullif(' order by ' || :p1_sortfield, ' order by ');
    Here is another weird thing. I looked at my Apex 4.2 application that got transferred over to Apex 5. The region that does the dynamic sorting still works. But now I just created a new region on that page that has the same source, and as far as I can tell, exactly the same properties. And this region gives me the runtime error. The URL is apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=80034:33 if that helps.
    Given that I can't reproduce your results based on the information provided, I think we'd need access to the app in your workspace in debug mode to investigate this fully.

  • IFCORE-1565: The Dgraph could fail when using a relevance ranking strategy.

    Hi,
    I just saw the release notes for Endeca 6.2.2 and read this bug:
    IFCORE-1565: The Dgraph could fail when using a relevance ranking strategy.
    Is there someone who could provide some more information on this bug? What is it and when does it occur? Reading the word 'could' would suggest a kind of unpredictability?
    Thanks,
    Maarten

    The known trigger for the bug was doing relrank on a query that contained multiple text searches.

    You should not create checkboxes like this. Either use the APEX_ITEM.CHECKBOX2 API or change the Column Type to Simple Checkbox.

    Try

    function test(pThis) {

       alert('#SEQ : '+ f01_value);

    Depends in how you are invoking/triggering the change event. Are you using DA or have you written an "onchange" event on the element?

  • Scheduled Report - Bug with Multiple Selection LOV parameter

    Problem:
    I have a scheduled report with a parameter that has it's "Multiple Selection" checkbox checked. I schedule the report with multiple values selected. When I receive the report via email, the report ran as if I only selected one LOV value instead of multiple values.
    Facts:
    1) Enterprise version 10.1.3.2.1
    2) When you run the report manually with multiple values selected in the LOV, it runs great with the correct dataset.
    3) This scheduled report does not have a Data Template.
    James
    P.S. - I searched this forum for other treads on this issue. I didn't find any. Sorry if this is a duplicate.

    I have this same problem, too.
    When I select multiple parameters on the "View" screen for a given report, everything works fine.
    When I schedule it, however, only the last parameter I clicked on (regardless of whether a select a range or multiple individual values) is passed to the query. The other selections I make are ignored.
    What gives? Am I doing something wrong? Is this a bug? Is there a workaround?

  • Column based on LOV in a classic report

    In a classic report i want to display a value coming from an lov, based on the value of a column. I can't seem to make this work however, not even on apex.oracle.com. I too am on apex 4.1.
    What i've tried is to set the column to display as text, based on lov. I've tried named static and dynamic lovs, and tried to supply an own lov definition, both static and dynamic. Even apex_item doesn't seem to work.
    As a test, i has set this up on apex.oracle.com:
    Classic report:
    Region source:
    select status, descr, apex_item.text_from_lov(status, 'lov_status') status2
    from
    select 15 status, 'test for status 1' descr from dual
    union all
    select 30 status, 'test for status 2' descr from dual
    union all
    select 45 status, 'test for status 3' descr from dual
    Column attributes for column status:
    Display As: Display as Text (based on LOV, does not save state)
    List of Values -> Named LOV: LOV_STATUS
    LOV_STATUS (shared components -> lists of values):
    this is a static lov, with these values:
    15;'Status One'
    30;'Status Two'
    45;'Status Three'
    60;'Status Four'
    (which could also be used as a non-named lov like: STATIC2:15;'Status One',30;'Status Two',45;'Status Three',60;'Status Four')
    Both column status as status2 simply keep displaying their value, and not the 'display value' i'd expect coming from the lov.
    I could use decode or case, yes. But using an lov keeps it cleaner, especially when there are more than 3 or 4 values, and could be reused in more reports.
    Am i using or doing this wrong?

    Hi Tom,
    revert the order of your LOV items ( so first description and then ID ),
    like for example :
    STATIC2:'Status One';15,'Status Two';30,'Status Three';45,'Status Four';60
    That does the trick ( tried it ).
    If you want to see an example check page 2 of the only app on apex.oracle.com

  • No data found when adding column link to classic report

    I have some classic reports.
    I go to Report Attributes, then I click Add Column Link in the "Tasks" right menu, it adds me a column link, I just add some text for the link and a page to go to.

    - Create a new Region of type Classic Report, then set Region source as :
    begin
    return test_return_query;
    end;- Run the page, the report works as expected
    - Go to Report Attributes and click Add Column Link (and just specify a text for the link and a page to go to).
    - Run the page, you should get the error !This might be unorthodox but try wrapping your returned query within an SQL statement, like so:
       begin
          return 'SELECT t.* FROM ('||test_return_query||') t';
       end;
    I can reproduce it on oracle.apex.com if needed...If my suggestion doesn't work, I think this might be the only option. You could create a new forum posting with the word "BUG" in the title, along with a link to this thread and the relevant workspace details (with guest developer credentials).

  • Classic Report - Column Conditions Not taking Effect when Changing Pagination

    Apex Version:  4.2.1.00.08
    DB Version: 11g Release 11.2.0.3.0
    Hi,
    I have a classic report that has some columns that conditional hide/show depending upon the value of a page item.  When the report is first displayed with the first pagination set(Rows 1-100), the columns display as they should.
    When moving to the next pagination set(Rows 101-200), the columns no longer display as they should and it seems that the condition is not taking effect.  Partial Page Refresh is set to 'Yes' for the report.
    Any ideas on why this might be occurring?

    tvanderl
    Assuming you mean that columns are rendered while you expect them not to.
    Are the conditions based on page items.
    It could be that the session state of those items is different between when the page is first rendered and when de refresh due to the pagination is done.
    See if adding the in the condition used page items to the page items to be submitted for the region helps.
    Others wise see if you can replicate the issue on apex.oracle.com so we can see what you mean.

  • How to update the table when change list item in classic report

    hi ,
    i worked with apex 4.2 and i create normal classic report with one select list(named loved)Column ,now i want to update table when user change the list with new value ,i can't create dynamic action to do this,i create check box with primary key and loop for check item to update the table but i can't get the value of list item. and for more speed the user want to do this when change the list value.
    my question
    1- how to do this by javascript and get the value from list item and update the table with new value
    2- is i must use API to create list item so i can get the value of item in report or what.
    Thanks
    Ahmed

    I coded the following to give you direction:
    1. In the "Element Attributes" section of the DEPTNO column, I call a javascript function as:
    onchange = "javascript:updateTable(this);"2. I wrote a simple javascript function that shows an alert when the user changes the select list as:
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    function updateTable(pThis)
        var vRow = pThis.id.substr(pThis.id.indexOf('_')+1);
        alert('Row# - '+ vRow + ' has the value - ' + pThis.value);
    </script>Now, you can call a AJAX on-demand process inside the javascript function to update the database value.

  • Formatting problem when downloading classical report output to excel sheet.

    Dear Experts,
    My classical report o/p looks like:
    SI    Name   ID
    1      xyz     11
    2      abc     22
    3      eet      33
    4      jnc      44
    When I download the same to a excel sheet from List->Save->file->Spreadsheet and save it.
    The formatting looks like this:
    SI   Name   ID
    1     xyz               11
    2     abc               22
    3     eet                33
    4     inc                44
    That is the heading and column entries are in different columns.
    There is no GUI_Download used.
    Kindly help what may be the issue.

    Hi,
    In the report output the formatting looks fine. It is exactly below the heading. But only when I save it to excel, this alignment issue is coming. Even the columns after this column are are properly aligned and there is no issue at all. Only this column in the middle has issue.

  • POP LOV in classic Report not in a interactive Report

    My oracle version Oracle Express Aplication 11g
    Dear Forum
    We need a CLASSIC report where i can define what information my report will show.
    For example:
    My Report contain
    ID NAME DATE
    In Drag and Drop layout I create two data pickers cause I need to choose information between Date_picker_1 and Datepicker_2. both of them correspond to DATE
    In my region source in classic report I write something like this:
    Select id, name where DATE between :Date_picker_1 and :Datepicker_2 then Ichoose the months but nothing happen.
    I know that in the report interactive you can do that, but my boss doesnt' like interactive report (I dont know why) so my problem is in the Classic report.

    Also the subject of this thread&mdash;POP LOV in classic Report not in a interactive Report&mdash;doesn't appear to be relevant the question asked. There's no mention of a Pop-up LOV here?
    My oracle version Oracle Express Aplication 11gAlways state full version numbers, and include
    <li>Full APEX version
    <li>Full DB/version/edition/host OS
    <li>Web server architecture (EPG, OHS or APEX listener/host OS)
    <li>Browser(s) and version(s) used
    as well.

    In my region source in classic report I write something like this:
    Select id, name where DATE between :Date_picker_1 and :Datepicker_2then Ichoose the months but nothing happen.Always post code wrapped in <tt>\...\</tt> tags. And always post the actual code or a realistic reduced test case: that query is not valid SQL.
    I know that in the report interactive you can do that, but my boss doesnt' like interactive report (I dont know why) so my problem is in the Classic report.Nothing to do with the report type. It's because all APEX items are actually VARCHAR2s. For proper comparison semantics with NUMBERs or DATEs in SQL explicit conversion is required:
    select id, name
    from foo
    where bar between to_date(:date_picker_1, 'DD/MM/YYYY') and to_date(:date_picker_1, 'DD/MM/YYYY')Where 'DD/MM/YYYY' is the format mask used in the datepicker items.

  • Classic Report not retrieving when accessing the first time

    I have two classic reports on two separate tabs and the first time that I access the tabs, the report does not retrieve. However, if I tab off and then back onto the tab, the report will retrieve.
    Any idea why these two tabs are not retrieving when initially accessing the tab?
    I have several other tabs in the same application that retrieve properly when initially access them.
    Thanks,

    I think I remember something like that happening to me because there were variables that were not initialized properly that the report used.

  • Can we pass values when hyperlinking a classic report column?

    Version 4.2.1 (builder blue)
    Hi there,
    I have a classic report in which I have hyperlinked a column, using the standard link option in the report settings. In that we can also pass on values to to page that the linked report opens. However, I notice when I pop up the window for the value to be passed, it only lists the #XY# contents of the report. Lets say, I have created the link on page1 which when clicked opens Page 2,
    I want to pass the value of :P1_PERIOD to :P2_PERIOD
    Can we not do that through the link? If I just put the value in Item1 as P2_PERIOD and populate it with :P1_PERIOD, wouldn't that work?
    Thanks,

    If I just put the value in Item1 as P2_PERIOD and populate it with :P1_PERIOD, wouldn't that work?No, <tt>:P1_PERIOD</tt> is referencing the item using bind variable notation. That's only for use in SQL and PL/SQL contexts within APEX. Elsewhere in APEX (HTML source, links and branches etc) you need to reference item values using static text substitution:
    &P1_PERIOD.(Note the terminating dot.)
    Put <tt>P2_PERIOD</tt> in Item 1 Name and <tt>&P1_PERIOD.</tt> in Value.

    Hi,
        The only option what you have is to write like below ...
    loop at itab.
    if v_count = 0.
       perform write_top_of_page.
    endif.
    ".... write your report ...
    v_count = v_count + 1.
    if v_count = 60. "<-- you want top-of-page after 60 lines (60 records per page.)
      clear v_count.
    endif.
    endloop.
