BUGS in Oracle Lite ADOCE

am doing VB programming on msacess in iPAQ device ,
there is some limitation in sql and one told me those are not exists in orale lite
so i tred it , intallation ok , running msql ok , creating odb ok ,
when it comes to programming with ADOCE it is the disaster ;
i have table ORDER ( OREDERNO NUMBER(9) , ..... )
when i use
set orders = CreateObject(oladoce.recordset)
orders.Open "ORERS", ,1,3
orders.AddNew
orders.Fields("ORDERNO").value = 21
orders.Update
the program exits on line 2 , even ON ERROR can't catch the error
the funny thing it passes for some other numbers e.g.
orders.Fields("ORDERNO").value = 1
orders.update
am i doing something wrong or
there is bugs in oracle ADOCE

here is the table ORDERS def.
Name Null? Type
ORDERNO N NUMBER(5)
ORDERTYPE Y NUMBER(5)
PRINTEDNO Y VARCHAR2(15)
INVOICENO Y VARCHAR2(15)
BRANCHNO Y VARCHAR2(8)
COMPANYNO Y VARCHAR2(8)
SALESMANNO Y VARCHAR2(15)
CSMNO Y VARCHAR2(15)
CUSTOMERNO Y VARCHAR2(15)
SALESECTORNO Y VARCHAR2(4)
ORDERDATE Y DATE
DELIVERYDATE Y DATE
DELIVERYTIME Y VARCHAR2(20)
ORDERSTATUS Y NUMBER(5)
and here is the code
Set Conn = CreateObject("oladoce.activeconnection")
Conn.Connect "retail"
Set Orders = CreateObject("oladoce.recordset")
Orders.Open "ORDERS", , 1, 3
Orders.AddNew
Orders.Fields("AREANO").Value = 17 ' here the program exits
Orders.Update ' it does not even reatch this ine !!!
you told me to try insert into statement
i did the following :
Set Conn = CreateObject("oladoce.activeconnection")
Conn.Connect "retail"
Set Orders = CreateObject("oladoce.recordset")
sqlStmt = "INSERT INTO ORDERS(ORDERNO) VALUES ( 1 ) "
Orders.Open sqlStmt, , 1, 3
Set Orders = Nothing
Conn.Disconnect
and it does not insert the record into the database
THE REALLY FUNNY THING WHEN I RUN
Set Conn = CreateObject("oladoce.activeconnection")
Conn.Connect "retail"
Set Orders = CreateObject("oladoce.recordset")
sqlStmt = "INSERT INTO ORDERS(ORDERNO) VALUES ( 1 ) "
Orders.Open sqlStmt, , 1, 3
Set Orders = Nothing
Set Orders = CreateObject("oladoce.recordset")
sqlStmt = "commit "
Orders.Open sqlStmt, , 1, 3
Set Orders = Nothing
Conn.Disconnect
i got an error message ' TABLE OR VIEW NOT FOUND '
but when i open the table ORDERS i found that the record inserted !!!!!!!
and you tell me OraLite is not BUGGY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please, I'm getting started with Oracle Lite and I want to know if is possible call a PROCEDURE or PACKAGE using ADOCE...
    Anybody can help me ?

You probably mean if you can call a Java Stored Procedure from ADOCE application. PL/SQL packages are not supported in Oracle Lite database. The answer is no. For more information see Developers' Guide for WindowsCE, Chapter 4

  • Oracle lite with JDBC crashes

I am connecting to an Oracle lite database on NT Server 4.0 with
JDBC and trying to run an simple insert statement. If I try to
run the same statement again (which should throw an exception
since the pk already exists) I get an application error - not an
exception as expected - I get the same thing when executing a
"delete from.." stmt on an empty table. These same stmts work
    fine in Oracle8i.
Also, if I use access with ODBC to view the tables access will

    Hi,
Is anyone here using olregister.exe in command line on win32 client? This utility is to change the user registred on a client device.
I tried to use the syntax provided in the documentation but the GUI always pop-up.
Here is what they say in Oracle Lite Doc :
Alternatively, you can execute olregister.exe on the command-line. The syntax is as follows:
    olregister.exe /deregister=yes
    olregister.exe /register=yes /user=<username> /password=<pwd> /server=<URL>

    Hi,
I will raise a BUg in Oracle. We cannot use the GUI it must be an automatic process..
I will update this thread when I get an answer fro Oracle.

  • Oracle Lite 5.0.2 Driver ODBC

    Hi!
I'm Trying to install the driver "Oracle Lite 40 ODBC Driver" that come in Oracle Lite 5.0.2, in a PC with Windows 2000 Professional with oracle 9i,without install all the Oracle Lite Package.
    The procedure is:
Copy to a folder in the "PATH" of the machine the next files:
    olite40.msb
    oljdbc40.dll
    olobj40.dll
    olod2040.dll
    olsql40.dll
    olad2040.dll
I give the next entry in the registry:
    KEY: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\Oracle Lite 40
    ODBC Driver
    VALUE: 32Bit = 1
    VALUE: APILevel = 0

VALUE: Oracle Lite 40 ODBC Driver = Installed
    I make the ini:
    [All Databases]
    NLS_LANGUAGE = ENGLISH
    NLS_LOCALE = ENGLISH
    DBCharEncoding = Native
DataDirectory = Directorio para crear la bd
The driver appear in the ODBC Administrator, however in the moment that i try to call the driver, an error appear, and say That the driver is not working properly, because the setup fail and i must reinstall the setup.
Somebody know if i need another dll or other step in my instalation process??

You used different APIs I presume.
On WinCE/PPC, you use the ADOCE interface which offers transaction management.
On WinCE, you use Microsoft ADO I and ODBC Data Provider interface. This does not offer the same transactional semantics.

  • Access Oracle Lite database on CE

    Hi Eric,
Thank you for your help, but I have already tried using SLQplus
and Oracle Lite Navigator, and it works !
I have no problem accessing the POLite demo database (on my
windows CE) from my desktop. But the demo program REPSVR shipped
with Oracle Lite on CE doesn't work at all...
I've tried the 3 solutions : Disk File, HTTP, and OMA replication
but the only problem is that the program cannot access to the
    database !
    I'm sure that :
_HTTP, OMA and Disk File Replication work because I've tested it
fom a remote location on my network.
_the connection to the database server (an Oracle 8.0.5) works.
_The ODBC.INI is also well configured (by default with the DSN
POLite and the DSN CE pointing to the database POLite).
So the only reason possible is the connection to the local
    database.
I was also unable to use the ODBINFO to test POLite...
I've carefully studied the doc, but no other procedure to test
    the database is described...
It's very frustrating because I'm just one step before
succesfully validate Oracle Lite for Windows CE for my company !
If you have other ideas (other than going right into the code of
the REPSRV demo !!!), I woul greatly appreciated...
    Thanks.
    Hi Olivier,
There are a few things you can try. Connecting using ODBC is probably
the easiest way. You can either use sqlplus or the Oracle Lite Navigator
tool that comes with 8i Lite. Use a connect string of:
    ODBC:CE
If you have more problems, you can try posting them on the Oracle 8i Lite
    discussion group, located at
    http://technet.oracle.com
    Hope this helps,
    Eric

Like : 1) check that all files are present
    2) use an ODBC test...

If you are using OLite, you should use the OLite .NET provider:
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14156_01/doc/B13788/html/toc.htm
Look at Chapter 6 and 11, which cover ADO.NET data access.

    Hi!
Can some one help me this the following:
I used Oracle Lite database, Resin app server and jdk1.2.2
When I try to connect my database through simple java-application, all goes fine! But, when I trying to get database communication from my application server and problem arise. First of all dll's such as
OLJDBC40.DLL, OLAD2040.DLL, OLOBJ40.DLL, OLOD2040.DLL OLSQL40.DLL are in the Path and JVM loads them at runtime. I got connection to DB. Than I try to get some DatabaseMetaData info and got EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (for jdk1.3) and "java.exe has generated error (for jdk1.2.2)" errors from VM.
    So, any idea?
    Any help apriciated...

    Hi,
I have got the similar problem when I used MS SQL server + Tomcat + JDK1.3.0 via JdbcOdbc driver. In that configuration the JVM crashs very often. It seems that JdbcOdbc's got unstable problem. Then, I tried other type 4 JDBC driver, it works fine and JVM won't crash. Try Sprinta 2000 JDBC driver, it's a type 4 driver and fast stable.

    HI Jeremy,
I think, Your PATH was cranked up.
The JDBC driver for OLite normally does not use any OCI DLLs, so that should not be the problem. As I said, the OLite dlls may be missing now from the PATH.
Any error messages? "Does not work" is a bit... fuzzy.

Another interesting thing I noticed is if I run oldes.exe from Installation CD, the Oracle Lite Designer runs fine, and without error, I'm able to modify tables in the database of my laptop also.
Could someone shade some light on what am I doing wrong here ?

(Since this is the general forum for the 'big' database, my advice would be to ask in the Oracle Lite forum. Database Mobile Server (inc. legacy Database Lite)
If this is a formal evaluation, you could also get a Sales-sponsored trial which usually comes with 30-90 days of Metalink support. You would be able to search for notes like Doc 414106.1
Bottom line is that the code is for JDK 1.5 and it's being deployed against JDK 1.4.2. Something needs to be either upgraded or downgraded.

  • Unable to install Oracle Lite 10g on Windows 7 64-bit

I've tried installing Oracle Lite 10g on my Windows 7 64-bit computer but I get a message saying "JDK is not installed on machine". I even have Java installed on my computer too.
Any ideas what could be causing the issue?
    Thanks
    Gareth

Oracle lite 10g is not supported on Windows 7.    The core issue is you are running on an unsupported platform.
You have may have to go in the docs and figure out what JDKs were supported, i think 1.4 and 1.5. and try
installing one of those and maybe you can get uninstall to work.   This is just a guess though.
    thanks

    Please advise what's wrong?
    thanks
    andrew

The following procedure describes the steps required to deploy the DbAdapter.rar file using admin_client.jar:
    1. Copy the following libraries from server.xml in an OC4J_SOA container to a server.xml file for a new
    container:
    oracle.bpel.common
    apache.junit
    oracle.db.lite
    apache.commons
    apache.jdom
    apache.slide
For example, for oracle.bpel.common, copy the following extract from one server.xml to another and
do the same for all other libraries:
    <shared-library name="oracle.bpel.common" version="10.1.3">
    <code-source path="D:\product\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_5/bpel/system/classes"/>

    2. Restart the container to make sure that server.xml was updated correctly.
    3. From the configtools.log file find the opmn port number, for example:
    deployer:oc4j:opmn://dimak.au.oracle.com:6012/home
dimak.au.oracle.com - is the machine name and
    6012 - port number
    4. Launch a new command prompt
and set path and classpath, for example:
    set PATH=$ORACLE_HOME\jdk\bin;%PATH%
    set classpath=.
where in the classpath there is only one entry - the dot, which stands for the current directory.
    5. change directory to the following:
    $ORACLE_HOME\j2ee\home
and run the following command (written all on one line) to deploy the DbAdapter:
    java -jar admin_client.jar deployer:oc4j:opmn://dimak.au.oracle.com:6012/test oc4jadmin
    manager1 -deploy -file $ORACLE_HOME\integration\esb\lib\DBAdapter.rar -deploymentName
    DbAdapter2 -parent default
    where
    * dimak.au.oracle.com should be substituted with your machine name
    * 6012 should be substituted with your port which you found in step 3
    * test is the name of the container you want to deploy the adapter to
    * manager1 should be substituted with your oc4jadmin password
    * $ORACLE_HOME\integration\esb\lib\DBAdapter.rar is the location of the DBAdapter.rar file
    * deploymentName DbAdapter2 - should be different from DbAdapter, as that name is already used in the OC4J_SOA container.

  • Converting between tables in an Oracle Lite Database

We have a standalone application that uses Oracle Lite. A requirement we have from a new customer is to use their Oracle Lite database structure or to come up with a mechanism that sends the data between the 2 different structures.
Both the structures reside in the same database.
Initial thoughts were to write triggers on both structures that convert the data or to use XML / XSL and treat them as seperate apps.
However, I'm wondering if there is a different way. Do Oracle provide any tools that can help with mapping between 2 different structures that hold the same domain data?
    Anyone got any better ideas?
    Cheers, Matt

  • Oracle Lite 10.3.0: how to find out the consumed size of a BLOB column

    Hi,
we are developing an app that utilizes an Oracle Lite database and so far I have just been unable to find a reasonable way to determine the size of stored binary data.
All the "usual" ways we aware of from "main" Oracle just don't seem to work with OLIte (ie SELECT dbms_lob.getlength(file_data) from APPS.CSL_LOBS) so how does one find out the size of blob objects?
    Thanks in advance

Assuming BLOBs are not stored in-line:
    SQL> desc pm.print_media
    Name                                      Null?    Type
    PRODUCT_ID                                NOT NULL NUMBER(6)
    AD_ID                                     NOT NULL NUMBER(6)
    AD_COMPOSITE                                       BLOB
    AD_SOURCETEXT                                      CLOB
    AD_FINALTEXT                                       CLOB
    AD_FLTEXTN                                         NCLOB
    AD_TEXTDOCS_NTAB                                   PM.TEXTDOC_TAB
    AD_PHOTO                                           BLOB
    AD_GRAPHIC                                         BINARY FILE LOB
    AD_HEADER                                          PM.ADHEADER_TYP
    SQL> select  segment_name,

      4    where owner = 'PM'
      5    and table_name = 'PRINT_MEDIA'
      6    and column_name = 'AD_COMPOSITE'

    SEGMENT_NAME                   INDEX_NAME
    SYS_LOB0000051988C00003$$      SYS_IL0000051988C00003$$
    SQL> select  sum(bytes)
      2    from  dba_segments
      3    where owner = 'PM'
      4      and segment_name in (
      5                           'SYS_LOB0000051988C00003$$',
