Build the form dynamically

Hi buddies,
I would like build the SE16 function using FPM. Thus, the field catalog for the selection option is dynamic which depend on the table name you input.
Now I have 2 form UIBB. One is for inputting table name and one for displaying selection options.
I would like to use wire to transfer the table name from form 1 to form 2. However, the connector is filled after GET_DEFAULT_CONFIG, in which I will write the code to dynamically display selection options. so this options seems not work. Is there any other options I could use to achieve this?
Thanks in advance!
Kind Regards,
Clark

Hi,
you could try to fire an event 'ZZ_YOUR_EVENT'  and add the table name as parameter data instead of using wire.
The feeder class for search should respond on the new event.
If you choose for a wire, make sure the feeder class responds on the event fired from first form.
WHEN <the event you choose to user>.
           IF _go_connector IS BOUND.
             lv_structname ?= _go_connector->get_output( if_fpm_feeder_model=>cs_port_type-selection ).
           ENDIF.
Hope it helps,
Maarten

  • JSP, Data tags, How to build a form edit with multiple records

    Hi, I'm using Jdev 9i.
    I would like to have a JSP form where I can update, delete, insert records displayed in the same page.
    I know that I can use the data tag jbo:DataEdit to do it, but it only works with a single record, I want to have several records in the same page, displayed horizontally.
    The best example is a form to add items in an invoice:
    Productid description quantity price
    1001 xxx 10 20.00
    1002 yyy 15 30.00
    1003 zzz 7 10.00
    Could you give some help please?
    Thanks in advance.

    The form display is dictated by how you process the submit. I would build the form by using standard html tags. Here is another pseudo example:
    <FORM ACTION="target.jsp" >
    <TABLE>
    <TR>
    <TD>
    DeptNo
    </TD>
    <TD>
    DName
    </TD>
    <TR>
    <%
    int nRow = 0;
    %>
    <jbo:RowsetIterate datasource="ds">
    <%
    // increment the row number
    nRow++;
    String sDeptno = "Deptno" + nRow;
    String sDname = "Dname" + nRow;
    String sRowKey = "RowKey" + nRow;
    %>
    <jbo:Row id="myrow" action="current">
    <TR>
    <TD>
    <input type="text" name="<%=sDeptno%>" value='<jbo:ShowValue dataitem="Deptno" />' />
    </TD>
    <TD>
    <input type="text" name="<%=sDname%>" value='<jbo:ShowValue dataitem="Dname" />' />
    <input type="text" name="<%=sRowKey%>" value='<jbo:ShowValue dataitem="RowKey" />' />

    </jbo:Row>
    </jbo:RowsetIterate>
    <input type="submit" />

  • Data should get inserted in all tables if i enter the form field only once

    Hi, I have a new question again.
    There are 5 tables in a database, that is t1, t2, t3, t4 & t5. the first 4 table has one common column, known as lc_no. I have build the form using the form builder. In that form, there is a 1 text field for lc_no. I have not started to code anything as yet in the form because everything with respect to it is working fine and even the data is getting inserted. But the problem is that, when i enter the data in the form, the lc_no gets loaded in only one table. I want the data to get inserted in all the tables. What should i code? How should i start off? I'm very new to this & don't exactly know how do i start with it ?
    Thank You. Can you help as i have not yet started to code in this form.

    Let us say table one have lc_no, other columen
    Table 2 have LC-no , other columsn
    Table 3 have lc-no , other column,
    Now in form(which has table1 as base table)
    In PRe-Insert write like below
    Insert into table2 (lc_no) values (:table1.lc_no) here tabel1 should be block name in form.
    Insert into table3 (lc_no) values (:table1.lc_no)
    ................and so on .. to other table.
    So, now when user commits the form, the lc_no will be available in all the other tables..

  • Building a form on a form's response?

    Anyone remember the really old days of paper forms when there would be a box, often at the bottom of the form, that would be marked "Office use only"? This was a way where after someone, let's say a customer, had filed out a form, then the office staff could complete their own form on that completed form. It was used for things like:
    adding comments
    showing progress
    adding approvals
    Now, we're trying to do the same thing in Adobe FormsCentral, but are a little flumoxed about the best way to go about this.
    We can build a regular form, no problem. The question is what's the best way to build the form that addresses the input of the first form?
    Extract the data for the record in question and laboriously build a new form, adding comment boxes and such?
    Immitate the old school method and put the "Office use only" box right on the original form?
    Make a PDF of the record in question and just tell the office staff to add comments? (we don't like this idea because it is more laborious and requires office staff to have certain software and skills)
    something else?
    Anyone out there tried this? Anyone have other ideas?
    Thanks!

    Hi Kathryn
    Thanks very much for your reply. I did as you suggested; I dropped the synonym and created a view:
    create view my_table as select * from my_table@my_dblink
    ...and was able to create a multirow form based on that view.
    However, when I try to update any value on the form, I get the following error when submitting it:
    Error in mru internal routine: ORA-20001: Error in MRU: row= 1, ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into a LONG column ORA-02063: preceding line from DB_LINK, update "APEX_DEV"."MY_TABLE" set "CAMPAIGN_ID" = :b1, "SITE" = :b2, "PERCENTUAL" = :b3, "DURATION_MONTHS" = :b4, "PRG_ID" = :b5, "AFF_ID" = :b6 where "CAMPAIGN_ID" = :p_pk_col and "SITE" = :p_pk_col2
    I thought it was because the form was based on a view; so I dropped the view and re-created the synonym (using the same name). When I tried to submit the updates again I got this error:
    Error in mru internal routine: ORA-20001: Error in MRU: row= 0, ORA-20001: ORA-20001: Current version of data in database has changed since user initiated update process. current checksum = "35636E5FDD251146DB4B7B56119E7914", item checksum = "A884FA378C851786DDFE3A33709CB23C"., update "APEX_DEV"."MY_TABLE" set
    If you or anyone else could point out what I am missing, and maybe explain what those messages mean, it would be great!
    Thanks

  • Need to build a form based on a table in a different schema

    Hello all,
    I am still new to APEX. I have been playing with it for a few days.
    I have an APEX user 'demo' whose default schema is demo1.
    But I need to create a form that can insert,update and delete based on table 'employee' in schema demo2.
    Demo has all the rights on employee table in demo2. I also assigned the demo2 schema to demo user's workspace.
    But when I am building the form, demo1 is th eparsing schema, but in table/view owner only demo1 is available. I don't see demo2 even though I assigned it to demo user's workspace.
    Is it possible to build a form based on a table in a different schema? I tried creating a synonym, but it doesn't show up in the list of tables to select from.
    I don't want to create views or anything because there are many tables in different schemas and it's not possible to go on creating views or such for each one.
    I was able to access th etable in a report though by prefixing the table name with the schema name.
    I would appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction.
    Thanks!

    Varad,
    Thank you for the explanation. So from what I understand, every time I create a form or report based on a table in a different schema, just change the parsing schema in application definition to the new one and create the form or report. So this way my forms and reports or whatever can be based on different tables in different schemas and they would run fine when deployed in a runtime environment (provided the appropriate privileges are there on the objects in context)?
    I tried this and I was able to see the different schema and select the table and create the form. I haven't tested in runtime though.
    Seems like a feasible option, need to test all scenarios though. If this is a feasible solution then there is no need to create synonyms or views (I am not talking about others' scenarios such as security etc) etc. Just appropriate privileges will do it.
    Thanks Varad. Have you used this way of creating a form in your apps? I need to explore more to see if it breaks anything.
    So, every time I need to select an object, say a table, in a different schema I need to temporarily change the parsing schema to that schema in the application definition? Is that a correct statement?
    I will leave the thread open to see if anybody has any comments.

    I would like to create a form that gives the user opportunities to provide information on as many as 50 projects. Does Adobe FormsCentral allow for this "expandable" type of form, such that if someone only has 10 projects, they can complete the form as easily as someone with 50 projects. In other words, is there a way to make the form "expandable?"

    Hi Ms Buckner,
    Yes, you can do this with the Show/Hide "Skip" logic rules.
    1. Suppose, for example, you have your first ten projects showing by default.
    2. At the end of those fields, you would have a Yes/No question asking if the person wanted to add more projects.
    3. If they answer "No", they move on to the next section/area/question/etc.
    4. If they answer "Yes" you have the form display ten more project fields that you had already included, but you had hidden up to this point.
    5. Repeat steps two, three, and four as often as needed. (It helps that you can copy and paste fields, including groups of questions, so you don't have to manually re-create them each time.)
    It means you must anticipate the maximum number of times you want to provide project fields, but you've already done that, and you have to build the form with that maximum number, but only display smaller portions at a time until they have filled in all they need.
    I hope that helps,
    Brian

  • Help!!!How to run Form Builder and Forms Runtime together?

    Dear Friends,
    I am new to Oracle Developement and need your help.
    Everytime I click the RUN icon to run a form from the Form Builder, the Forms Runtime starts, however, closes my Form Builder the same time. After I closed the Forms Runtime, the Form Builder shows up as before.
    In another word, I cannot have both Forms Runtime and Forms Builder at the same time. How can I run the form without closing the Form Builder so that it's eaiser to modify the form and time saving?
    Thank you very much.

    Thanks. But I cannot make by using alt+tab. I know it is strange.
    I could do that before but I don't know what's wrong with it now because start of the Runtime automatically hide the Form Builder until I close the runtime. Does anyone have any idea or same experience of this? Any suggestion?

  • Anyway to build a form outside of Business Catalyst and connect it to the platform?

    I am trying to do one of two thing to accomplish what I am trying to do. First I am trying to build an order form that allows a user to add a field as they go. So if I have three fields for one product. One for a product name, one for a SKU number, and one for a quantity. I would like the user to be able to fill this out and then if they have more products to add they can click a button that says add another item and then another set of fields shows up. I am either going to create all of these fields in a business catalyst form and then figure out how to hide these fileds with css and or javascript, or I need to build this form outside of business catalyst and figure out how to connect the form to the platform so I can still have it go through a workflow. Can anyone offer any suggestions or advice on how to do wither of these items?
    Thanks

    Hi Mike,
    Rich has an idea. To get you started I've built something similar for booking multiple seats, but your form will not take bookings and instead it will be a standard form with some credit card fields. See this example http://demo.businesscatalyst.com/booking-multiple-seats
    You will have to have a set number of fields. You can not add fields on the front end dynamically. Also, my example is quite primitive. You have to specify the number of products before you start adding them. You cna change this by adding something like "Add Another" field to the form whcih will reveal the next set of hidden fields and so on.
    Before you start building anything note that you will have to use a seamless gateway. Can't use something like PayPal standard.
    I hope that helps!

  • How to display or generate PDF417 barcode dynamically in PDF form? I am using Acrobat XI Professional and there is a Bar Code Field in the same through which I generated the same. But I want to generate the same dynamically.

    How to display or generate PDF417 barcode dynamically in PDF form? I am using Acrobat XI Professional and there is a Bar Code Field in the same through which I generated the same. But I want to generate the same dynamically.

    What do you mean by dynamically? When yo set up a 2D bar code field you specify which field name/value pairs you want to include, along with other parameters. But be aware that they won't work with Reader unless you Reader-enable the document with LiveCycle Reader Extensions and include the bar code usage right. It will work with Acrobat Standard/Pro.

  • Can I use the wizards to build a form that submits multiple checkboxes as an array?

    I could do this by hand, but for maintenance ease would prefer that the toolkit understand all my forms. Has anyone else figured out how to do this?
    Here's the scenario:
    On page load, a query is used to get a recordset that builds a form representing every item in one table, each row represented by a checkbox. The checkboxes are all named with the same name, like "item[]", and the user needs to be able to check as many or as few of the checkboxes as necessary. Upon form submission, each item referenced in the array (representing an entry from that table) will be associated with the user as a new entry in a join table. It's a many-to-many relationship.
    My problem is that, in the wizard dialogs, there is no option for submitting checkboxes as an array. Checkboxes are only used as a boolean operator. Am I missing something?

    Hi,
    ADDT comes with a server behaviour called "Comma-separated Checkboxes" which lets you include comma-separated checkboxes in your form. Before applying it, there must be a recordset created in the Dreamweaver page, and also an input item added.
    This server behavior is accessible from the Application panel, Server Behaviors > + > Developer Toolbox > Form Controls > Comma-separated Checkboxes.
    The ADDT help file will tell you more about it, please see "Form Controls" -> "Comma Separated Checkboxes".
    >>
    Upon form submission, each item referenced in the array (representing an entry from that table) will be associated with the user as a new entry in a join table. It's a many-to-many relationship.
    >>
    This server behaviour uses a different "value storage & retrieval" method as explained in the help´s "View Comma-separated Checkboxes in browser" chapter, but maybe it will help you though

  • Dynamic DataTable without validation of the rest of the form

    I'm having a bit of trouble implementing a piece of functionality with JSF and I'm hoping someone here will have some insight into how to accomplish this.
    I have a quite large form, with some fields requiring quite complex and expensive (both performance and actual money) validation (e.g. calling external web services, etc.). For the sake of the explanation, let's say the user enters details about himself, such as name, social security number, address, etc. Along with his details, he's to enter a limited subset of the details for each of his children (say name and social security number). We do not know at design time how many children the user has (obviously), so this part of the form has to be dynamically generated. Validation is performed on these children fields as well, so the user needs to be able to edit and remove children from the form.
    Prior to JSF (straight JSP), I used DHTML and a naming scheme for these records with a custom setters in the backing beans.
    What I have tried with JSF is to have a DataTable backed by a List. This table contains a single "Add Child" button which adds a new empty row to the table. There is also a "Remove" button for each row.
    This works just great as long as I allow all other fields in the form to validate each time the user clicks the button. However, as I stated before, these validations are very very expensive (transaction based costs) . Additionally, I do not want to force the user to fill in all the other required fields (close to 40) before he can go on with the children.
    Now, setting immediate="true" on the commandButton elements solves the problem of the other form fields validating. However, now the Children in the DataTable are never set because the update model values phase is never invoked, leaving me with empty input fields. I really do not care in this instance whether the data for the Children is valid or not, I just need to get them into the form.
    I can think of at least three possible solutions:
    1) Split up the form into several pages, like a wizard. However, the customer has rejected this option.
    2) Somehow simplify the Children section by providing a single entry and a read-only table. This way I can use a simpler read-only table and I can extract the values from the request parameters directly. However, this complicated the editing of previously entered Children. To make things worse, the order of the children has to remain intact.
    3) Create a custom HtmlInputText component that sets the values regardless of whether immediate="true" or "false".
    It is this last option that I do not know how to do. Which methods would I need to override in order to get the values to be set in my bounded Children object regardless of the immediate flag?
    And of course, if anybody has any other design suggestions I'm open to them!
    Thanks in advance!
    /Kris

    nboudani , let me answer your question first. The page does have a Submit button. It also has "Add Child" and "Remove Child", and some others as well. The Submit button has immediate="false". I also need form validation for interdependent form fileds (e.g. either Passport number or social security number are required), so I'm using the "hidden input field at the bottom of the form trick". This all works well enough.
    OK, I got partway there. jaguar2010's mention of valueChangeListener made me investigate that further. So what I did was twofold. Set the immediate attribute to true for the inputText elements in question (for the Children data) as well as for the commandButton (as before). Also, add a valueChangeListener for each of the Children which simply calls updateModel.
    So, view code:
    <h:inputText id="cName"
                           valueChangeListener="#{testBean.procCNameValueChanged}"
                           value="#{child.name}"
                           required="true"
                           immediate="true"/>
    <h:inputText id="cSS"
                           valueChangeListener="#{testBean.processCSSValueChanged}"
                           value="#{child.ss}"
                           validator="#{testBean.validateCSS}"
                           immediate="true"/>
    <h:commandButton action="#{testBean.addChild}" immediate="true" value="Add Child"/>
    ...bean code:
    public void procCNameValueChanged(ValueChangeEvent event) {
        HtmlInputText sender = (HtmlInputText) event.getComponent();
        sender.updateModel(FacesContext.getCurrentInstance());
    }So, that does take care of the problem with the model not updating. However, there are a bunch of other problems still left to be resolved. For instance, as you'll notice, there is a validator attached to one of the inputs. If this validation fails, the invalid text is not put back in the input field. I can't temember now, but I think that is because the valueChangeListener is not called in that case, so the model is not updated. Sigh...
    Another problem is that for each row in the data model's table, there is a "Remove" button (not shown in above code) to enable the user to remove an entry from the list of children. Well, because JSF process events in the order of their appearance in the view code, an exeption is thrown if the removed row is not the last one, and the last row has not been "saved" yet. That is, the valueChangeListener has not been called on the last row. What happens is that first the action method for the remove button is called, then the valueChangeListener for the last row is called. But by the time the valueChangeListener event is fired, the last row has chaned its index (because the remove action method was called first) and apparently this fact has escaped JSF so it throws an exception (property not found or something).
    I'm starting to wonder if JSF is the wrong technology for complex forms. Just seems to want to do too much for me, assuming I have a simple form.

    With a PDF Dynamic form using show/hide actions, how to ensure that when the completed form is saved, closed and re-opened, the form still show the fields as before it was closed?
    I have developed a form with fields hidden by default, that become visible based on box ticked or radio button selections.
    My problem is that, when I close the form and re-open it, it comes back to it's default presentation, regardless of the information already recorded in the form (including in the now hidden fields.

  • Dynamically adding fields to the form when button pressed

    Hi all,
    In my application, there is a form from which I need to be able to insert data into 7 to 8 tables...
    Creating a view and inserting data into 5 table sis fine but there are 2 table whose structure is as follows.
    server_app_rel : server_id, app_id
    server_jack_rel : server_id, jack_id
    Here each server can have any number of applications and any number of jacks...
    I am not able to create a view ( to create a form on this view).. since the number of appllication and jack columns are not fixed. The user should be able to associate all the applications and jacks to the server in the same form...How can I insert multiple rows into tables from a single form when I dont know how many application and jacks(app/jack columns) the user will associate to the server..
    Also, How can we add fields dynamically to the form?
    Our requirement is by default we have to show only one application field and one jack field in the form..And when the user clicks on 'Add more Jacks' or 'Add more Apps' button, respective fields should appear on the form to add data..( this is like 'Add column' button when we create table)..
    Can someone please give me inputs on how to proceed..Am stuck with this from 2 days..It would be really very helpful if someone can give me atleast the links where i can find this info..
    Thanks,

    This is possible but you need to understand the performance implications of Dynamic SQL before proceeding with this approach.

    use this logic:<br>
    declare sqlstring varchar2(500):=null <br>
    select 'select stuff from '|| tbl_templatenameid into sqlstring from MasterTable where id=someid;<br>
    execute immediate sqlstring;
