Build up of str files in ScanDir

Question

We have a build up of sevral thousand of these files in ScanDir files.
Looking at several places on groups i have found that two services need to
be running before these can take place.
The storer service and selector service. The selector service is not
present in the list when i do a listser. Present in the list are:-
1) Name = 'DBBackup Service'
serviceType = 'User' (0)
state = 'Stopped' (0)
2) Name = 'Server Configuration Service'
serviceType = 'System' (1)
state = 'Running' (2)
3) Name = 'DBDelete Service'
serviceType = 'User' (0)
state = 'Stopped' (0)
4) Name = 'NDSLookupForDB Service'
serviceType = 'User' (0)
state = 'Stopped' (0)
5) Name = 'Receiver Service'
serviceType = 'User' (0)
state = 'Running' (2)
6) Name = 'Upgrade Service'
serviceType = 'User' (0)
state = 'Stopped' (0)
7) Name = 'Storer Service'
serviceType = 'System' (1)
state = 'Running' (2)
Number of services = 7

When i try to manuall start the service with a 'startser selector service'
i get the following error:-

Any ideas ?, FYI workstation import is fine.
