Building a simple field based application with OA framework

Hello everyone,
I have an assignment to build a simple form that takes in some parameters and in which some of the fields will be validated with a value set. Using the information from this form, I then have to use the parameters in a PL/SQL function/procedure and return a value of successful or not.
Basically a simple form based application.
I was wondering if it is possible to do this in OA Framework. All I hear about is extensions and personalizations but is it possible to build a simple application with it?
Also, can anyone point me to a good tutorial showing how to build a simple application in OA framework?
Or if OA framework won't do the job, can I use ADF (on oracle 11i) to accomplish this?
Thanks a lot in advance

  • Problem building a simple 2x VI application

    Hello,
    After 5 years of pause (LV version 6.1) I tried to build a simple application under version 8.2. the application is consisted of 2 simple VIs - the 1st gathers some keyboard input and passes some strings and a VISA Resource (COM port ID) to the 2nd that should capture single chars from a specified COM port and executes simple command lines. The 1st VI triggers the 2nd by passing the corresponding parameters. The problem is when I build the standalone EXE with the 1st VI as a top - the 2nd one fails to open its window allthough its instance shows up on the task bar!?
    I guess I am messing with the build-settings but can't find a sollution. Can anybody suggest one?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi golu...,
    have you set the vi properties correctly? The 2nd vi is probably called as simple subvi...
    So in the window appearance properties you have to enable 'show front panel when called' and 'close front panel when finished'!

  • Dealing with a turn based application with using a global static variable

    Hi there. I read some articles about JavaFX concurrency,so as a newbie i have to practice on it. Now i'm trying to implement a turn based application that can be played among 3-6 players. Moreover, i use a scene imported from a .fxml file and i have to update it correctly depends on some calculations of each thread (in other word players ). My main issue is, i don't wanna use a while loop which checks the state of game like;
    while( GameState != State.GAME_OVER ){
         currentPlayer = GameBoard.getNextPlayer();
         // do some actions,calculations etc.
    So, i want to use worker threads instead of this while loop. I guess using Service class for iterating and assigning the next player will be suitable instead of using the while loop and Tasks for doing each player's calculation,or waiting for some responses from Human players on UI based,however, i'm struggling with two problems.
    There should a global static variable ( like GameState which is an Enumarator ) determines the state of the game,so it should be updated and should be checked by each turn. Is there any way to do this ?
    How can i get rid off this while loop ?
    I will appreciate for every answer. Thanks anyway.

    It shouldn't make too much difference. The basic idea is that you have a model class representing your game state (the Game class in jsmith's example). When a player makes a move, you update the state of the game. Since this will result in changes to the UI, this update should be performed on the FX Application Thread.
    If the player making the move is a human player, the move will likely be made by a user action (button press or mouse click, etc); this will be handled on the FX Application thread anyway.
    When the state of the game changes so it is the turn of an "artificial" player to make a move, have the object representing the artificial player calculate its next move, and then update the game state. Since this is a response to the game state changing (it's now the turn of the artificial player), this will also be on the FX Application Thread.
    The only (slight) complexity comes if the calculation of the move for the artificial player takes a long time. You don't want to perform this long running calculation on the FX Application Thread. The cleanest way to manage this is to launch a Task which calculates the desired move, and then updates the game state when the move is ready. So, something like this:
    GameState game = ... ;
    // UI is bound to the game state.
    ExecutorService executorService = ... ;
    final Player currentPlayer = game.getCurrentPlayer() ;
    final Task<Move> calculateMoveTask = new Task<Move>() {
         @Override
         public Move call() {
              Move move = // compute next move...
              return move ;
    calculateMoveTask.setOnSucceeded(new EventHandler<WorkerStateEvent>() {
         @Override
         public void handle(WorkerStateEvent event) {
              gameState.makeMove(currentPlayer, calculateMoveTask.getValue());
    executorService.submit(calculateMoveTask);
    If you're doing more threading than that, you're probably doing it wrong... . There should also be no need for anything to be held as a "global" static variable (the idea above is the only structural modification you need to the example posted by jsmith).

  • How to start an Swing based Application with a display of an Image

    I want that when I run my swing based application, first a specified image should me displayed

  • Can anyone suggest a app or programme for creating a simple text based logo with a font I already own?

    Hi.
    I run my own company and would like to create my own simple text based logo using a font I've downloaded. Can anyone suggest an app or programme that will be simple enough for a dunce like me to create vectored graphics and reliable enough to create something professional and usable, please?
    Thanks.

    I believe if you copy the font into the font folder, any application should be able to use that font.

  • Creating a simple HelloWorld! Application with NWDS 7.3

    Good morning experts!
    I have got a problem:
    I would like to create a simple "Hello World!" Application (JSP i think) with SAP NWDS (NetWeaver Developer Studio) 7.3.
    Then, I want to deploy it on SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.3.
    First of all, I have set up in the "Preferences" in the NWDS under "SAP AS Java" my NetWeaver Portal 7.3 System.
    So: Can you give me a link to a Tutorial, where I can develop such a JSP-HelloWorld-Site, which I can deploy on the J2EE of NW Portal 7.3 ?
    I have tried out several Tutorials in the past, but noone I could build, because there were always errors on the Deployment-Descriptor

    Hello together!
    After searching for 5 hours I have found such a Tutorial.
    There you have the link, maybe somebody has the same problem:

  • How to use single ant build script to package the application with and without native extensions

    Hi,
    I am using iOS native extensions for Adobe air. For this I am listing the extensions in the application descriptor file. Since the package with native extensions are meant to run only on device, I want my build script to work without native extensions too to be able to run on simulator. Is this manadatory that I need two separate application descriptors/basically two build scripts to compile and package them? Please suggest and let me know if more explanation is needed.
    Thanks,
    Swathi.

    Hi
    This is a known issue addressed by CR205204
    As you said, IBM actually does not have rt.jar in its JDK - they have moved contents of rt.jar into various jars.
    IBM is not using org/apache/crimson/tree/ in their JDK at all.So the error shows up in the end of build even if it succeeds
    You may need to add crimson.jar to wlwBuild classpath, since it is not part of IBMs JDK.
    Note: the build will work even w/o crimson.jar giving a non build related IDE exception in the very end.
    Thanks

  • Deloy a simple Application with own JAR Library

    Build JDEVADF_11.1.1.3.PS2_GENERIC_100408.2356.5660
    Deployment Server is the Integreted Weblogic Server
    I hav a simple ADF BC Application with a own jar Archive.
    In the Deployment Profile i set the JAR file under Application>>Contributes to Deploy
    I Test the Application and throw the Exception
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.timu.bugzilla.JBug
    How can i deloy the Application with the own JAR File ??

    I'll check this out, but if it is a security problem, then shouldn't I be having problems with other libraries such as the dbutils that I'm using?
    Also, if this is the case should I be seeing occurances of "AccessControlException" in my server log file? All I am getting is ClassDefNotFound.
    Is there any way to package the jar file into my war object so it gets deployed with my application?

  • Building application with wordsub

    I am building an application that uses some of the report generation toolkit. If I build it, it comes up with errors relating the the wordsub.vi.
    I followed the guidance, which says to add in the Word Dynamic VIs.vi (as well as the Excel Dynamic VIs.vi). I add them in using the "add dynamic vi" button under source files. But during the build, I get the following error: Error 1003 occurred at C:\Documents and Settings\James Nauman\My Documents\LabVIEW Data\<"My application name">\internal.llb\_Word Dynamic VIs.vi
    My application is under a file in c: and the Word (Excel) Dynamic VIs.vi are in the original addon/wordsub dir.
    Jim

    Thanks, the Word Dynamic VI's.vi did have a broken arrow. I had to replace the write jpg vi, then everything worked.
    Is there a good reference for file structuring. It seems half my problems are related to vi's linking,relinking to somewhere else than where intended. I am trying to build several variations of one application with minor changes. I open vi (A) up and everything works. But, then I open up vi (B) and everything is linking to (A). I cure everything and close (B), but then when I go back and open (A) everything is linking back to (B). So on and so forth.
    I have up to 5 variations on an application, and pretty soon everything is linking all over the place.
    I need some basic references (with examples) of how to structure my librarys, directorys, applications, subvis, and what the differences all mean. The getting started with labView is too general. Are there any knowledge base areas discussing this and common errors?
    Thanks for the help.

  • Problem with tutorial; "Build a Web Application with JDeveloper 11g Using "

    I've got a rather new installation of Vista Business x64 on my developer rig, and last week I installed the new JDeveloper 11g version. The installation was all-inclusive, no customization on my end.
    In addition I've got a test installation of an Oracle DB 11gR1 on an available server here.
    To familiarize myself with the new JDeveloper I decided to spend some time with the JDeveloper 11g tutorials found here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/11/index.html.
    I've started twice on the second tutorial, "Build a Web Application with JDeveloper 11g Using EJB, JPA, and JavaServer Faces", and find myself repeatedly stuck at step 19 in section "Creating the Data Model and Testing it".
    It seems impossible to deploy the application to the default application server. The server starts fine on its own, I can access it via the admin console on port 7001 and it looks good. However, when I try to run the HRFacadeBean funny things are happening, symptomized by the following error messages seen in the IDE log-area:
    The "Messages" pane displays:

    Jupp,
    It fails in a similar way.
    What I did was; create a simle 'Hello World' html file, saving it with the jsp extension. In Jdev11g i made a new application and an emtpy project, then loaded the jsp file and made it the default run-target. This compiles nicely.
    When running the project it first attempts to start the WebLogicServer (WLS). After a few minutes it is started as seen in the "Running: DefaultServer" pane:

    In the "Messages" pane, however, things are not looking so good:

    But, of course, the server is actually running as I can access it via its Admin Console.
    So, I try to run the project again, and this time the following is shown in the "Messages" pane:
    Compiling...
    Context: MakeProjectAndDependenciesCommand application=TestAppJsp.jws project=TestProjJsp.jpr
    [7:26:39 PM] Successful compilation: 0 errors, 0 warnings.

    The "Running: DefaultServer" now comes up with:
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\base_domain\bin\startWebLogic.cmd
    [waiting for the server to complete its initialization...]
    [Server Instance DefaultServer is shutting down.  All applications currently running will be terminated and undeployed.]
    Process exited.
    The WLS is still running though as I can still access its adm console.
    To me it seems that it is attempting to start a separate instance of the WLS for each run attempt, but then I could be wrong.....:(
    Later I'll try to change the default WLS port from 7001 to 7101 as suggested in another port here.
    I must admit that I'm a bit surprised that the JDev11g doesn't work fine at this very simple level when performing a default install.

  • Problems building a stand alone application with LV 8.6.1.

    I'm having problems building  a stand alone application with LV8.6.1. I'm using a USB- 6008 DAQ and USB-6501 Digital device in the application. I already have an simple executable on the machine so the Run time Engine is already installed.  For the USB DAQ device, I assume I need to include the DAQmx8.8 as one of the installers. When I attempt to build the application, I'm prompted for several disk, one being a distribuition disk 1. I have the installation disk for the developer package. I did not  see a distribuiton disk as one of the installation disks. When I insert disk 1 I get an error that another application is trying to run. Could someone tell me which installers I need to include and where do I find the "distributor" disk.
    Thank you,

    are you building installer for the first time on this PC?...It usually asks for the drivers CDs and some toolkits if required.
    you just need to use drivers CDs (comes with LabVIEW) from which you installed on this PC. If you have ever upgraded drivers, then you have to use the latest CDs only.......
    another issue may be ...when u insert the driver disk, it has autorun, it will launch drivers installation wizard....close that and then try to build distribution.........

  • I get some trouble exporting  mobile  application with Android Adobe Flash Builder Burrito

    Hi, eveybody.
    I make a simple mobile application with Adobe Flash Builder Burrito, and it works well on windows.
    Then I want to export it as a .apk and install on android emulator. But I failed. I got some messages as follow:
    E:\android\a\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools>adb install Twitter.apk
    594 KB/s (875316 bytes in 1.437s)
            pkg: /data/local/tmp/Twitter.apk
    Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_INVALID_APK]
    Then, I download the AdobeAIRSDK2.6, unzip, and copy the files to the sdk(D:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder Burrito\sdks\4.5.0).
    I change <application xmlns=http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/2.5> to <application xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/2.6">.
    Then It can't export it as a .apk...
    Thanks!

    Thanks.
    But why I can't export a .apk as I update the sdk to air2.6?

  • How to build a simple Editor with GEF 4 MVC

    Hallo,
    I have Experience with GEF 3.x graphical editors, and I would like to make experiments with GEF4 MVC in an Eclipse E4 Application.
    Below there is a schema representing the basic architecture of a GEF 3.x MVC Editor :
    The base Ideas in GEF 3.x are :
    - There is an Editor class containing a Graphical Viewer.
    - There are a Root Edit Part and an Edit Part Factory to initialize the Controllers (EditParts)
    - There are Views (Figures) and Models (POJO), independent each other, and controlled by the Controllers.
    The GEF4 MVC Technology is quite powerful - because one can build Standalone, Eclipse RCP and Web applications.
    Anyway it is not perfectly clear to me - yet , how to implement a Simple GEF4 Editor on E4 Application.
    So, this is what I understood :
    - No more Draw2D in GEF4 - it uses JavaFx Scene and Parent
    - In a Scene graph we can put SWTControls (heavyweight) and Figures (lightweight)
    - a Canvas (heaviweight) will contain the JavaFX Figures and also possibly a CanvasFigure (lightweight)
    So, if I build an Eclipse E4 application with one ViewPart containing a GEF 4 Editor, I suppose the setup of my application will be as follows:
    1. Create An Eclipse E4 Application with JavaFx support
    2. Add a ViewPart that contains a Canvas
    3. Use GEF4 MVC to Create / Edit my MVC tree.
    At this point, it is not very clear to me how to implement the real MVC Architecture in GEF 4.
    I expect GEF4 MVC will work in some way like the GEF 3.x - as visible in the top image - but I'm not clear on that.
    Therefore, these are questions:
    - Is the GEF 4 MVC architecture somewhat equivalent to the GEF 3.x one ?
    - Where I can find details on the MVC implementation of GEF 4 ?
    - Is there any component to provide - out of the box - a Flyout Palette, like it is available in GEF 3.x ?
    Thank you for providing this very powerful library and for spending time on this post.
    By the way, I'm available to contribute the project.
    Kind Regards.
    Patrik

    [quote title=Patrik Suzzi wrote on Tue, 14 July 2015 04:07]Hallo,
    Therefore, these are questions:

    It is quite comparable in general but has some significant differences in detail. The best entry points for learning about GEF4 MVC is the reference documentation at https://wiki.eclipse.org/GEF/GEF4/MVC. It also provides some information about differences between GEF (MVC) 3.x and GEF4 MVC (last section about migration). The slides provided at http://de.slideshare.net/AlexanderNyssen/gef4-our-mission-to-mars explain some of the concepts (unfortunately the interesting slides concerning MVC seem to have been messed up when uploading the slides; I will try to update them).
    - Is there any component to provide - out of the box - a Flyout Palette, like it is available in GEF 3.x ?
    No, not yet. I was thinking to integrate it into one of our examples after the Mars SR1 release.

  • Standard (application-based) firewall with one additional port open?

    Lion and Snow Leopard both have application based firewalls.  I want to allow access to a Minecraft server on port 25565 but I don't want to allow all of Java.  How can I open one port in addition to leaving the standard firewall in place?

    Hi
    The Zone based firewall uses "inspect" statements, that's just what it does.
    A simple zone-based firewall that will inspect all traffic going from the local network to the internet and protecting the outside interface of the router, but allowing anyconnect connections would look something like this:
    ip access-list standard INSIDE-NETWORK_ACL
     permit 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0
    class-map type inspect INSIDE-NETWORK_CMAP
     match access-group name INSIDE-NETWORK_ACL
    class-map type inspect HTTPS_CMAP
     match protocol https
    policy-map type inspect INSIDE-TO-OUTSIDE_PMAP
     class type inspect INSIDE-NETWORK_CMAP
      inspect
    policy-map type inspect OUTSIDE-TO-SELF
     class type inspect HTTPS_CMAP
      pass
    zone-pair security INSIDE-TO-OUTSIDE_ZP source INSIDE destination OUTISDE
     service-policy type inspect INSIDE-TO-OUTSIDE_PMAP
    zone-pair security OUTSIDE-TO-SELF_ZP source OUTSIDE destination self
     service-policy type inspect OUTSIDE-TO-SELF
    I haven't personally configured Zone Based Firewall with anyconnect. So if this doesn't work you can look at this link: https://supportforums.cisco.com/document/46481/anyconnect-ios-zone-based-firewall-zbfw

  • Building a simple J2ME chat client (for own J2SE-based server) Threading Qs

    Hi!
    I am making my own simple chat / messenger service to use between a couple of friends over GPRS.
    On the server side i have made a multi threaded TCP server that opens a new thread for each connecting client and stores these socket connections in a hashtable for access to send data between each thread.
    So when a client logs on to the server, the server sends a printwriter message to all other clients informing them of what client connected, and the clients can put the username in its out-database. then the clients can send messages to each others using a simple, self build protocol.
    All connection between clients/server happens over a simple printwriter on in/out streams.
    Problem is: it works perfectly most of the time.... However, sometimes a message is mysteriously lost when transferred from the server to a client. Transfer from client to server works flawlessly. I am thinking that it might have something to do with the client side threading, or slow network transfer casuing a TCP read error.
    Client structure is as following:
    start-> Midlet class -> (press connect to server) -> new Client class (impl runnable) -> new thread(this) -> void run() sets up all connections and writers, waits in a while loop for messages from server and takes action according to message type. -> Button(send) uses output stream to send a message to server.
    Do anyone have any suggestions on what I must consider when making a client that will simultaniously be able to listen for data from server as well as send data to server over 1 socket and slow mobile connection without causing any trouble?
    More info can be provided if necessary.
    Thank you!

    Building a simple J2ME chat client (for own J2SE-based server)a. i would like to say that this is a bl00dy brilliant idea. i mean ~ its been done before but building one yourself is quite thrilling.
    b. are u using java 4 or java 5. ?
    sometimes a message is mysteriously lost when transferred from the server to a client. Transfer from client to server works flawlessly.are you using push registry to recieve incoming connections.
    i recommend using a StreamConnectionNotifier connection instead of just a socket connection. you could send your data (xml/plain text) just like a stream (tcp ofcourse). if you want to know how to use a StreamConnectionNotifier connection, here's how
    try{
    // listen at local port 789
    StreamConnectionNotifier notify = (StreamConnectionNotifier) Connector.open(“http://:789”);
    // infinite loop to get incoming connections
    for(;;)
    StreamConnection stream = notify.acceptandOpen();  // return a stream connection when a connection is made
    InputStrean mystream = stream.openInputStream();
    while(mystream!=-1)
    mystream.read();
    ....cheers
