Building multiple UDAs via a build rule

Is it possible to tag a member with 2 or more UDAs when building it's dimension via a rules file?
I have tried using two specifying 2 separate columns ("Tag1", "Tag2") and separating each UDA with commas ("Tag1,Tag2"), but neither work.
Anyone else ever tried to do this?

We can make it done. In the options-> dimension build settings
Select allow property changes and do not select allow uda changes.
Below is the behaviour of these settings.
1) select allow property changes and not selecting the allow uda changes : will append the multiple udas for that member in the outline.
2) select allow property changes and selecting the allow uda changes also : will replace the first uda with the second one for that member in the outline.

  • MAXL - using multiple Dimension build rules in single script...

I seem to be having problems running multiple Dimension build rules in a single MAXL script, is this a known problem or just an issue that I'm having? The build rules independently work as designed but when joined into a single script the script hangs...
So, this is a 2 part question...
    1) Does MAXL not play nice when using multiple Dimension load rules in a single script?
    2) Do I need to run the build rules independent of each other?
Also, is there some type of refresh/update on the cube that you can use in the script and would it be necessary...?
Thanks for any light you can shed on the issue.
    Adam,

I've written multiple dimension build statements as a part of 1 long MaxL statement. I'm executing this MaxL via a shell script (that replaces the variables such as username, password, servername, file path etc.) I've not seen any issues doing so.
However, I've noted that, number of imports statements in 1 single MaxL command does not bode well for more than *60* import statements at once. So, if you're using more than 60 source files to build your dimensions, please consider breaking up your MaxL into multiple statements.
Note: All but last of the import statements have 'deferred' re-structure specified. It speeds up the build process.

  • Freight Unit Building rule isn't used when FWO is automatically created via PI

a freight unit building rule is created and attached to the forwarding order configuration , When forwarding order is created manually , Freight unit building rule is picked up automatically , and freight units are created based on such definition.
When Forwarding order is created via PI , the freight unit building rule isn't picked , I need it to be picked in all cases.

    Hello,
You can check your condition /SCMTMS/FWO_TYPE and check, which  type FWO was generated by PI. If you have more than 1 type.
Maybe you FUBR was assigned in FWO type 2 and PI creates FWO type 1 (Standard selection).
    Could you check this?

  • Dimension build rule file (Sort member)

I am loading sorted data for one of the dimension. But its is not coming in sorted fashion in outline. New member which i am adding is always coming in The end.Even though that member is in sorted format in the file.
I am using generation method . I am putting member for only generation 2 and its alias.I tried using ascending option but it is giving me error
Can any body help me with this

As Glenn said, the build only builds new members. In order to have FULL control over the order of a resultant dimension's order, you need to blank out the dimension first and then build via the load rule. As Glenn mentioned, you can do "incremental dimension building". You can do this directly in EAS in an interactive manner by using outline/update outline in pull downs. Just do not save the outline until all your changes are done. You can also accomplish incremental builds via Esscmd or via MaxL, but I'll assume for right now you are still testing. The advantages of the incremental changes is that you can do a number of changes before Essbase commits to doing a restructure, which is time consuming, not to mention confusing if you are "deleting" (however temporary) the entire dimension's hierarchy.
    Regarding setting ascending order
    1) in the load rule's Dimension Build Settings prompt
    2) Select Dimension Build Settings tab
    3) highlight the dimension you are changing
    4) select Ascending for sort order
This should work...I've never had it error out. However, I will say that it sorts the entire dimension...not just the siblings of a new member. Your upper level members will move as well. Because of this, the ascending sort in a load rule is undesirable. Give it a try. If you don't like the results, just don't save the outline.

  • Setting member properties through Build rule.

I have a hierarchy where the product structure needs to be updated.
Now, I also need to add three different UDAs to each member.. and make some members Never share. (All in build rule)
Please suggest me with any solutions.
    TIA,
    KRIS.

To set the data storage you need to set the column field type to property in the rule file and then the value in the record to set to datastorage to "Never Share" will be N
A list of properties are available at :- http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/esb_dbag/dotrules.html#dotrules_2
Also there is detailed information about building load rules
You would set the column to UDA field type for UDAs
An example parent/child build to set a member to "Never Share" and set UDAs would be
    Parent,Child,Datastorage,UDA1,UDA2
    Prod,ProdA,N,UDAName1,UDAName2
Your load rule for a parent/child build would look something like
    PARENT0,Product Child0,Product Property0,Product UDA0,Product UDA0,Product
    Prod ProdA N UDAName1 UDAName2

  • Error in invoking the build rule editor, LabView 2011

Hi all.  I'm having a problem in Project Explorer.  When I right-click on 'Build Specifications' and select New:Application (EXE), I get the following error dialog:
"There was an error in invoking the build rule editor. Please check the corresponding provider directory to see if any VIs are broken."
After this appears, no build specification is created.
I built this application in LabView 2010 on WinXP and was able to compile and run it sucessfully many times over the last few weeks.
The problem started yesterday when I had a problem with a Ring control. I right-clicked it and selected "Edit items" or "Properties" the cursor blinked for a moment but the dialog box did not appear.  I removed the Ring control and replaced it with a String control, then when I tried to build the application, I got this error message.  At that time, I also noticed that I could not get a Properties dialog box to appear for any controls or indicators.
Yesterday, I installed NI Developer Suite 2011 Version DS2. This seems to have fixed the problem with the dialog boxes and I was able to use the Ring control. However, I still have the problem with the build rule editor.
To determine if there was a problem in my program, I built a new 'Hello World' .vi with just a string control and string indicator. This program has the same problem when trying to build to an .exe.
Currently, I am trying to remove all previous versions of LabView. When that is done, I will reboot and try to build again.  If that doesn't work, I will remove ALL National Instruments software and re-install NI Developer Suite 2011 DS2.
I'm hoping someone can provide a solution before it comes to that.
Two other facts which might be relevant:  I don't have Administrator on this machine, although I could probably get it if I could make a strong case. Also, I can't be sure, but I think the problem may have started when I undocked my laptop from the docking station to go to a meeting.
I appreciate your help.  Thanks in advance.

If you need additional assistance, I encourage you to create a new thread. It is more likely to be answered by other users as a fresh post.
The most likely cause is a corrupted file (or files) in the builder directory.
I would  recommend renaming/moving the following folders and performing a repair install of LabVIEW:
    \National Instruments\LabVIEW 2011\vi.lib\AppBuilder
    \National Instruments\LabVIEW 2011\resource

  • Dimension Build Rule converting characters to ascii

    Hi
I have a dimension build rule which has been in place over a year. However every few weeks it converts some of the dimension members to ascii characters but loads with the correct alias. The next time the load runs, it tries to enter the real member and it falls over as the alias is not assigned to the member with the ascii characters.
Has anyone seen this before or have any suggestions as to what could be causing it.
    Thanks

Have you tried recreating the load rule to see if it's some form of weird corruption?
That doesn't seem very likely (it's either corrupt or it's not <--This is why I Like Computers) -- how about can you confirm that your source is exactly the same both times? I'll bet it's not and you just see the result manifested in the dimension build.

  • Schedule Jobs with multiple steps via ABAP Program

    Hi,
I need to schedule multiple programs via background jobs on a daily basis. Since all these jobs are to be run as a single job, the various programs have to be run as steps in a major job.
I am however not very clear on how this can be done via an ABAP program ( the idea of a program is that various parameters to be passed to each program in the step can be entered dynamically rather than via variants).
I am using the JOB_OPEN and JOB_CLOSE functions and submitting the programs with selection screen parameters dynamically passed to create a job. I need to do this for various programs as a job step (WITHOUT Variants being defined).
Can anyone suggest any ideas for this? I have tried out JOB_SUBMIT Function but am not very confident I know what exactly it is for as it asks for a variant.
    Thanks very much,
    Preet

    Hi Preet,
just to be sure: you know, that variants can be dynamical, too?
It's quite usual to assign dynamical current date, but it's also possible to add / subtract value and even define own functionality.
Maybe it's easier to implement a dynamical selection and handle static jobs.
If you try to plan a job (online or with JOB_SUBMIT), you have to use variants - you can create (or change) them dynamical in beforehand. Only SE38, F8, F9 is creating a temporary variant, so that no saved variant is necessary.
But if you end up creating variants dynamical, you can change one existing variant, too. Then you can use a static job definition (with periodical starting rule).
So: have a look, if dynamic variants are enough, otherwise change variants per job.

  • Loading multiple UDAs to essbase.

I have been trying to load multiple UDAs to one essbase member during the load. But have not been able to do so.
Anyone here has tried that? If so would you please share your insight.
    TIA,
    PHR.

    Thanks for your reply John,
I did figure out a way to do this. In my dimension I copied the UDA column and named it UDA1. Than apply the second UDA to the new column and changed the load rule accordingly to specify the second UDA value being passed in.
It is working now and applying two different UDAs to the same member.
Thanks again for your reply, and hopefully this will help someone else in future.

  • Multiple row update; CEV business rule parameters are not refreshed

During a multiple row update, a business rule is fired for each row.
This change event business rule must update the value of another column in the same table (and same row).
Unfortunately, the parameters of the BR are keeping the values of the first row that has been checked. Since my parameter p_id always keeps the same value, I always update the same row.
Does somebody have a hint on how to solve this problem ?
    I'm using Headstart R6i and Forms6i with Oracle9i DB.
Thanks in advance for your help,
    Denis.

I think that's how it works. I tried that with a variable where type is Members.
It is not showing me a prompt when i select multiple rows. However works only for first row. (even if the menu is initiated from second row).
Multiple rows selected, variable type is members. works only for first row in selection. (in 11.1.2.2) You can try log an SR and see what Oracle has to say.

  • Multiple UDA properties in a Dimension -- Is it possible?

I want to create two UDAs to define two propeerties in a dimension. Say, I have a customer dimension and I want to define two properties like 1) Customer Categories (Values may be anyone like Normal, Important, Very Important) and 2) Customer Territory (Values may be any territory from a Territory list). Just for your information I have problem of creating attribute dimension, so I want to achieve this functionalities using two seperate UDAs. While trying to associate existing UDA property I have constraint to add only one UDA and while I try to create new property I don't have option to add UDA dimension (i.e. in new proprty it shows only attribute dimension). Is it possible?

You can have multiple UDAs applied to members.
I take it you are talking about using them with EPMA, you would just have a UDA dimension and multiple children, once associated the UDA dimension then you should be able to assign multiple UDA members.
Here is an example - http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bIt1dk1vOWc/Twmfg_2MpXI/AAAAAAAAEGg/9k2r3vaB8y8/s1600/image025.png

There are a lot of posts in the forums today with people having problems with iMessage.   There was also a published outage yesterday, so it's possible there are still some issues that may be impacting you both.
I would just wait it out - I'm sure it will be sorted out soon.

  • Cannot send multiple photos via text on iPhone 6

iPhone 6:  I am trying to send multiple pictures via text message (through the Photo app) to someone who does not have an Apple device, therefore I am sending it as an MMS.  However, I receive an error message stating, "iMessage needs to be enabled to send this message."  This is confusing for two reasons:
    1. I DO have iMessage enabled.
    2. I am not trying to send it via iMessage (as the recipient is a non-Apple user) so why am I being prompted to send it via iMessage?
    How do I fix this?

What happens if you open a message and then copy multiple pictures into it (rather than doing it from the Photo app)?

  • Loading multiple UDAs

Having problem with the syntax for loading multiple UDAs into epma using the Excel File generator.
First I created the UDA dimension. I then added members to that dimension. Next I posted UDAs in the UDA column in the dimension requiring the UDA.
The file uploads with errors. It will take the UDA if there is only "1" UDA but won't take it if there is multiple UDAs. I am using a comma separator for the multiple UDAs using what appears as the syntax if I manually load them into EPMA using the properties editor in the Web interface. But it won't take if I try the import.
I'm sure there is something simple I'm missing and instead of trying over and over again to figure out what I'm missing looking for suggestions.
Currently the entry looks like this for Entity dimension (this is pulled directly from the ADS file). Only thing I have set is Parent,Child,UDA,Alias=Default
    FINPRESCEXP;C1154;FIN;FIN-Projet image corporative
    AAPRESCEXP;C1175;FIN,CSC,AGP,AAP;C-Restructuration
The first one works. The second one is regected, saying the member "FIN,CSC,AGP,AAP" doesn't exist

    You are correct.
To be specific for future people. You create a column per UDA you want to create (you can have lots of blanks if you want). The column header is simply UDA over and over again (nothing fancy like Alias= -> UDA=)

  • ASO Build Rule - "Level Usage for Aggregation"

When Building ASO (9.3.1) Dimensions via Rules, we wish to set the “Level Usage for Aggregation” of a member in the data file.
You can set a Rule Field Property to Aggregate Level Usage, though it not clear what value should be inserted in the Data File to specify one of the four options below for a member
    •     Consider All Levels
    •     Do Not Aggregate
    •     Consolidate Top Level Only
    •     Never Aggregate to Intermediate Levels
Inserting the full name does not work and we cannot find any reference to the Aggregate Level Usage property in the Dbag.
Can anyone advise on the correct property value’s required.
    Much Apreciated.

From the DBAG here are you options for dimension builds with ASO applications
% Express as a percentage of the current total in a consolidation (applies only to members of a dynamic

    * Multiply by the current total in a consolidation (applies only to members of a dynamic hierarchy)
+ Add to the current total in a consolidation (applies only to members of a dynamic hierarchy)
    - Subtract from the current total in a consolidation (applies only to members of a dynamic hierarchy)
/ Divide by the current total in a consolidation (applies only to members of a dynamic hierarchy)
~ Exclude from the consolidation (applies only to members of a dynamic hierarchy or members beneath Label Only members in a stored hierarchy)
    O Tag as label only
    N Never allow data sharing
C Set member as top of a stored hierarchy (applies to dimension member or generation 2 member)
D Set member as top of a dynamic hierarchy (applies to dimension member or generation 2 member)
H Set dimension member as multiple hierarchies enabled (applies to dimension member only)
