Building regular DLL based on static libs compiled with _AFXDLL

I am trying to build a regular DLL that depends upon a set of static libs I get from elsewhere. The static libs are compiled with _AFXDLL and _AFXEXT and /MD. (The static libs are used by a different application that uses shared MFC libs.)
I can link the dll, but when it runs it fails to find CRuntimeType information for classes in those static libs. Specifically, some source in the static libs is calling:
AFX_MODULE_STATE *afxs = AfxGetModuleState();
and looking thru the afxs->m_classList which happens to be NULL. (There should be lots of classes there.)
Currently my regular DLL is linking agains the static MFC libs.
To be clear, I do not want to export any MFC classes from my dll, the MFC classes are only used internally by the static libs I'm linking my dll against. That's why I am using a regular (not mfx extension) dll.
Do I need to link my dll with shared mfc? I have a fair amount of exported functions. I would have to add
AFX_MANAGE_STATE(AfxGetStaticModuleState( ))
to every exported function right?

Ok, I've tried a few things and I know more of what's going on.
I linked my dll with the shared mfc (_AFXDLL) and added the AFX_MANAGE_STATE(AfxGetStaticModuleState( )) to some of the exported functions to try it out. It switches to the dll's AFX_MODULE_STATE alright, but the class list is empty. If I break in the CWinApp initializer (before any exported functions are called) for the dll, the class list is there. So where did it go?
Well I stepped thru in the debugger and here's what's happening:
_CRT_INIT creates the AFX_MODULE_STATE for the dll and AfxClassInit() gets called lots of times to add the runtime class info. Looks like this is being done by static constructors in the static libs I'm linking my dll against. So far so good.
Then after that, InternalDllMain comes along and calls AfxInitExtensionModule( state, ... )
Here's the problem, AfxInitExtensionModule, in addition to modifing it's state argument like you would expect it to, it also has this curious line:
pModuleState->m_classList.m_pHead = pModuleState->m_pClassInit;
where pModuleState is the current (dll's) state. So my class list is wiped out because the m_pClassInit slot is NULL. The AFX_MODULE_STATE constructer sets the m_pClassInit member to NULL. Looks like it's supposed to be some kind of backup so I have no clue what AfxInitExtensionModule is doing what it's doing.
Is this a bug or do I still not have something set up right???

  • How to build a DLL that has Pascal calling conventions with application builder?

    Hi,
    I'm researching for possible solution to one of our problems.
    In one case, solution would be to build a DLL from LabView
    code. This should be simple task, but the application that
    is going to load the DLL requires that the functions in the
    library are exported using Pascal calling conventions,
    similar to the C/C++ example code below.
    DWORD APPEXPORT far APPPASCAL function(char hexr[])
    Could this be possible with LabView somehow? Or is it best just
    to write the DLL with C/C++?
    Thanks.

    Thanks Wiebe.
    I don't know whether I need pass string pointers or not. The example
    I posted was from the manual of the program that will be using the DLL
    I build with LabView. I only wanted to show with it the exported calling
    convention needed. It seems that it actually confused my question rather
    than clearing it.
    Anyway, now I know that it's possible to declare the calling convention
    when building the DLL. And it's always good to know that I might encounter
    different pointer types on the way, this may actually save me from a lot of
    debugging some day.

  • Build a table based on XML data set with Spry

    Hi there,
    I'm new to spry technology therefore forgive any basic question of mine.
    I'm trying to fill content in a table based on XML data set values but nothing is shown :-(
    here is my code.... any suggestion? pls tell me where I'm wrong.
    Thank you in advance
    <script src="SpryAssets/xpath.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script src="SpryAssets/SpryData.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var uscite = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("data/Calendario 2011.xml", "csv_data_records/record", {sortOnLoad: "Date", sortOrderOnLoad: "ascending"});
    uscite.setColumnType("Date", "date");
    uscite.setColumnType("km", "number");
    </script>
    <div class="RankContainer" id="UsciteDiv" spry:region="uscite" >
              <table width="100%" border="0" class="RankTable">
                <tr>
                  <th width="10%" scope="col" spry:sort="Date">Data</th>
                  <th width="20%" scope="col">Destinazione</th>
                  <th width="5%" scope="col">KM</th>
                  <th width="35%" scope="col">Percorso</th>
                  <th width="30%" scope="col">Breve</th>
                 <!-- <th width="15%" scope="col">Mappa</th>-->
                </tr>
                <tr>
                   <script type="text/javascript">
           var rows = uscite.getData();
        for (var i = 0; i < rows.length; i++)
         if (rows[i]["Mappa"].startsWith("/"))
          rowContent = "<td> si </td>";
         else
              rowContent = "<td> no </td>";
         document.write("<td>{Date}</td>");
         document.write("<td>"+rowContent+"</td>");
         document.write("<td>{km}</td>");
         document.write("<td>{Percorso}</td>");
         document.write("<td>{Breve}</td>");
          </script>
               </tr>
              </table>
           </div>

    Sure this is how it should work (except that no anchor tag shall be present for Destinazione whereas Mappa has no real value in)

  • How to use the static lib of berkeleydb in VC6?

    I know there is a libdb45s.lib. But when I try to link my project to it, VC6 reports many errors. Even the getting start examples cannot link correctly. The documents coming with berkeley db do not tell me how to link project to the lib, no matter static or dynamic.
    Could anyone tell me how to use the static lib libdb45s.lib and how to link it properly?
    OS: Windows XP pro SP2
    IDE: Virsual C++ 6.0 sp6
    BDB: 4.5.20
    Here is what I have done to link the libdb45s.lib:
    1.Add BDB related diretorys to VC6 link/lib dirs
    2.Add #include <db.c> to my .cpp file, I use the C API
    3.Change Project Options
    Link-> Libs/Objects-> add "libdb45s.lib"
    C/C++-> code generation-> Use Run Time Library-> MutiThreaded
    Link-> Ignore Library-> MSVCRT
    4.Build, here is the output, hope it would be some help:

    Hello everyone!
    Now,I am trying to build "hprof.dll" on windows, because I want to customize "Hprof".The "hprof" source code is included in "JDK DEMO(see %JAVA_HOME%\demo\jvmti\hprof\src)".

    The problem is the compile error of "hprof_md.c". (VC compile Error No : C2011, C2375)
    I think that the link error in the end part is solved with this compile error.
    Because "sample.makefile.txt" is for GNU make, I tyied to build using Cygwin and GNU make.
    but the same compile error went out.
    My Knowledge is insufficient concerning C/C++ development....
    I have no idea how to deal with this error.
    Who can help me about this problem ? please give me some answers!
    Thank you for reading .
    Sorry my poor English...
    Masahiro Kouda

    Do you have the specific name of the C++ compiler you are using?
    The actual name on the box and the specific version string?
    I'll look into this, sorry I didn't see this earlier.

  • UnsatisfiedLinkError for JNI DLL compiled with vs2008 express

    I am trying to create a JNI DLL using Visual Studio 2008 Express.
    I have read several places where -MD causes JNI problems but from what I've read, I need this option to create the DLL properly.
    The DLL does get built cleanly and I have created a simple C application (obviously not calling the JNI functions themselves but the other functions that are in the DLL). This application runs with no problems.
    As soon as I try to use the DLL with JNI, I get an UnsatisfiedLinkError: Can't find dependent libraries.
    I have used Dependency Walker on the C application I created and it finds no errors; however, if I run it on the DLL itself, it does report an error trying to find msvcr90.dll which is in the winsxs directory under c:\windows so I assume this is the problem dependency.
    I am running this on the same computer that has Visual Studio 2008 Express SP1 installed. This is a Windows XP Service Pack 3 computer running JDK 1.6.0_14.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Right or wrong, I include some library files into my link statement (it's the only way I could find to clear up your question). I link in some standard window libraries as well as some of my own DLL whose functions are used by this DLL. I use a makefile to build my code.
    Here is a compile statement and the link statement for my DLL:

  • CVI can not link VS2010 static lib files

    A completely new static lib file created in VS2010 Express hat the following content:
    StaticLib.h:
    void __stdcall call( void );
    StaticLib.c
    void __stdcall call( void ){ }
    VS2010 compiles this as a c file. This is already ensured by the ending ".c", but to be safe I use the compiler option /TC .
    All other options are at their default value. I compile using "Release | Win32".
    The created lib file is copied to an new CVI folder, along with the header.
    Both files are added to the project.
    In addition a main.c is created with the following content:
    void main ( void ){ call(); }
    The compile attempt is aborted with the following error message:
     Bad header encountered while reading external module: 'Release\StaticLib.obj'.
     Aborted load of member "Release\StaticLib.obj" from library "c:\C90\LibImportTest\Release\LibImportTest.lib".
    Is there a way to reuse static lib files compiled in VS2010 with CVI?
    If so please show me a minimal example.
    ( please do not post any suggestions involving dlls )
    Solved!

    I tried this with CVI 2012. I think its the VC 2010 Project Setting: Configuration Properties >> General >> Whole Program Optimization = Use Link Time Code Generation that causes the problem with CVI. Change this setting to "No Whole Program Optimization" and CVI 2012 is able to link the VC 2010 lib file for me. Hope this is the same issue for you. If not, try changing other VC optimization or language settings in the Project Properties dialog..

  • Error 1 while building a DLL

    Hi,
    I have programmed some signal processing project libraries in LabVIEW and would like to use them in a VC++ program.  When building the DLL under LV 8.0, I get this error 1 message:
    Error 1 occurred at ABAPI Dist Define VI Prototype.vi -> ABAPI Dist Verify Proto Defined.vi -> ABAPI Build Shared Lib With Old Proto.vi -> DBEP_Invoke_Build_Engine.vi -> DBUIP_Build_Invoke.vi -> DBUIP_Build_Rule_Editor.vi -> DBUIP_Item_OnDoProperties.vi -> DBUIP_Item_OnDoProperties.vi.ProxyCaller
    Possible reason(s):
    LabVIEW:  An input parameter is invalid.
    NI-488:  Command requires GPIB Controller to be Controller in Charge.
    Any clues?
    swhich

    This happens when you're building an executable?  The default build path for executables should be C:\Users\**Username**\builds\**ProjectName**\**ApplicationName**
    Often, repairing your install can fix strange problems like this.  Just go in like you're going to uninstall LabVIEW, but instead repair it.
    Additionally, what do you have as the input to the invoke node you mentioned?

  • Building a JSP-based Web Report with a Parameter Form

    Hi,
    I tried in building a report as shown in the example in OTN under reports in the url
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/htdocs/getstart/examples/ParameterFormJSP/index.html
    i.e for Building a JSP-based Web Report with a Parameter Form. The directions in this document were not clear and if any one document which is clear with instruction will be useful to me. In this example it is shown with search criteria with sigle text box and if any one had idea & code to place an combo box and population of the record group in the combo box.
    Thank you in advance.

    hi,
    we will be releasing a new example w.r.t creating a parameter form using the reports JSP within the next month.
    as for your request for a combo box. this widget is not available via regular HTML form elements. you can either have a select list or dropdown list.
    for a regular select list you would use the following (only pseudo-code)
    <select ...>
    <rw:foreach>
    <option value="<rw:field .../>">
    </rw:foreach>
    </select>
    to populate a select list.

    I am trying to call the dll function in labVIEW which build by visual studio 2003.
    while I compile the basic program in visual studio 2003,the dll will be built successfully,but if I include heads like or in my program, etc.Compiling has the error of ,so the dll can not be built.
    I have trued to look for the solution in NI Discussion Forums,but havent seen the related article about the error of including .
    If someone can answer this for me,that will be a great help,and I'll be so appreciate if anyone get me out
    of the trouble.
    Sean

    I'm a little unclear about your question. What is the exact error that you are receiving and at what point are you receiving it? Is the error occurring when calling the DLL in LabVIEW or is it occurring when building the DLL in Visual Studio? Further clarification about exactly what the problem is and where it is occurring would be a big help!

  • How to build a query based on(UNION) 3 vendor InfoObject

    Dear Experts:
    I have a requirement to build one query based on 3 vendor InfoObjct: 0VENDOR + 0VEN_COMPC + 0VEN_PURORG.
    I tried to build a multiprovider upon these 3 infoobjects, but when I Identify(Assign) the key for each InfoObject, supposely there should be 3 InfoObject for me to check (0VENDOR, 0VEN_COMPC and 0VEN_PURORG) so that I can UNION these 3 infoobjects together on vendor number. But since the reference infoobject of these 3 vendor master data is different, I can not check the 3 together.
    Can anybody let me know how to build that query? I only need vendor number show once, and the attributes of 0VEN_COMPC and 0VEN_PURORG can be union to 0vENDOR.
    Any post would be appreciated and thank you all in advance!
    Best Regards!
    Tim

    Hi,
    you can create a link between the vendor objects itself, means link 0vendor with 0ven_compc and 0ven_purorg. This should give you a list of all vendors multiplied with the comp codes multiplied with the purch. org. May be here it is possible to create another link between a attribute (eg. comp_code of 0ven_purorg with comp_code of 0ven_compc). In case it is not possible you need to add this link information somehow. Another option might be to create 2 queries. One on a infoset of 0vendor and 0ven_purorg and another one on 0vendor and 0ven_compc.

  • Problem with building a dll in labview

    Hello,
    I want to be able to run a LabView vi from Java and found that the best way to do this is to create a DLL in LabView and then call it in Java using JNI. I did a dummy program in LabView to test, but the problem is that the instructions I found don't seem to exist! For example, one tutorial I was following said to: "Open a new VI and select Tools»Build Application or Shared Library (DLL).". But I don't have that under tools, just Build Application (EXE) from vi, which gives a project file. In another place it said to "Expand My Computer. Right-click Build Specifications and select New»Shared Library from the shortcut menu to display the Shared Library Properties dialog box" but I have no idea what that means.
    I have the LabView 2009 trial version, could that possibly be making a difference? If not, what am I doing wrong? Or is there a better way to run a LabView program from Java?
    Thanks a lot!
    Hugh

    Actually, the second one is from LabView help. I tried looking up Application Builder like you said but again it begins with the instructions "Expand My Computer. Right-click Build Specifications and select New»Application from the shortcut menu to display the Application Properties dialog box" and I have no idea what this means What do they mean by My Computer? And Build Specifications? I don't have any of that... I'm sorry but I'm new to all of this, I've never worked with DLLs before in any language, and all I want to do is run my LabView program when I press a button on my Java interface!! If there is a better way to do it, that would be great!
    Thanks at any rate,
    Hugh

  • Build a DLL in LabVIEW & Use the DLL in LabVIEW

    I am trying to build a DLL for the simple vi with LabVIEW and want to use the DLL in LabVIEW. is it impossible?
    I wrote a vi and it have 2 terminals. one is the input for numeric dbl data type and one another is the output for numeric dbl 1D array data type.
    It was built with the Application builder for LabVIEW 8.0 and DLL was created successfully.
    I want to use this DLL in new vi with LabVIEW.
    Call library function used. I wrote a new vi to use that DLL.
    In config dialog I config each parameter for dll and connected terminals. but it doesn't work
    pleas refer to the attatched file and let me know what I missed.

    At first I kept scratching my head wondering why someone would want to do this. Create a DLL in LabVIEW to call it from LabVIEW. Seems redundant. But, perhaps it's an exercise or perhaps it's for testing the DLL...
    In any event, calling the DLL worked for me in 8.2. How are you configuring your Call LIbrary Function node? I have it set up as follows:
    return type: void
    iteration: Numeric, Signed 32-bit Integer, pass by value
    array1D2: array type, Signed 32-bit Integer, 1 dimension, "Array Data Pointer" format
    len: Numeric, Signed 32-bit Integer, pass by value
    Then I called the DLL like this:

  • Building a BI based dashboard in Visual Composer

    Dear,
    We are using the Visual Composer to build a KPI dashboard based on BW KPI's from multiple queries (NO SEM in the background !)
    What we need is to place the keyfigures in the rows and the keyfigure value in the colums. In the colums we further also need an arrow that indicates the trend based on the keyfigure value (ascending, descending,...)
    this is how it should look
    ===================
    Keyfigure        Value            Trend
    Gross Sales    100€             Down
    Net Sales        80€              Up
    Costs             20€               Up
    (*) The trend is based on a calculated keyfigure that compares this month's values with previous month's values.
    In Visual Composer I'm trying to fit this in a table. After playing around I found that I need to place my keyfigures (column A) in a structure in the Rows in the BW query. Afterwards I can use the "characteristic" Key Figures and place it in my column in the VC table together with the value and the trend.
    However, now my real problem occurs. I want to link trend with an image but the image should not be based on a condition linked with the main keyfigure from my row A but on another calculated keyfigure that I do not want to show in my rows at all. I'm affraid this is not possible since I don't see an option.
    If anyone has an idea, please share. This kind of VC cockpit apps you see quite often on slides and Xapp presentations but I'm affraid they were all created with SEM cockpits in the background so I hope to be proven wrong.
    thx

    Id'try the following:
    a) your trend-field is in your query, but unselected in the field list
    b) build a formula on this unselected field which selects the image (from the Image Manager)
    More on modeling can be found in the Visual Composer WIKI:
    https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/VC
    and many postings in the Visual Composer (where it might make sense to ask such questions in the future), where I also moved this question.
