Bulk Creation of target instances & sync
In looking through the Extensibility doc it looks like emctl (config agent addtarget) would be used to
do a bulk create of target instances. Is that correct?
Using an example of a plug-in to monitor an application server domain and creating target instances
for each server and cluster (in an automated fashion). The plug-in would be installed on one agent.
Run and OS job/ program which would make a jmx call to find the clusters and servers then run the
emctl commands to create the target instances.
Is that how something like this would be done, or am I missing a more straightforward way?
Now to keep the OEM target instances in sync with the application server domain, I'm thinking I need
to periodically compare the emctl listtargets info to what is currently in the application domain.
This question is just related to trying to "import" the tree of managed items (meaning the target
instances).
There are 2 utilities you can use to create target instances: emctl and emcli.
emctl is local to a specific agent and you must be on a particular agent's host to run its emctl
With emcli you can install the emcli client wherever you want and it will talk to the OMS to do the instance creation. You'll have to specify which agents you want to put the target instances on, but through a single emcli client you could create target instances on every agent in your enterprise.

Error on Loading Credit Management Setups using iSetup in target instance
Hi All,
I am trying to migrate Oracle credit management functional setups(Scoring model, Checklist, Automation rules) from source instance to target instance. I am trying to achieve this by the usage of iSetup. Once the Load is done, I am getting the following error and the setups are not migrated. This error comes up only for Credit management Setups. Not for other functionalities. Please help me out on this.

Forcing Creation of Target Field
Hi,
I want 2 force the creation of target field C in my Message Mapping.:
So, if A exist and not empty, map A to C,
if not, map B to C.
The problem is, if i have a not existing field on left side, the right side wont be created. But I want C to be created in any way.

Creating target instance for custom plug-in
I must be missing something basic. How do I get EM to include the target types from my custom plug-in in the list of target instances that can be added?
I'm using OEM 10g Grid Control Release 10.2.0.1.0. I have successfully imported and deployed a simple test plug-in to one agent, but when I go to the Targets area, the new target type is nowhere to be found. Do I need to do something in addition to importing and deploying the plug-in?You ran 'emctl stop oms;emctl start oms' or 'emctl
stop agent; emctl start agent'? You'll want to make
sure that you're restarting the OMS.Yes, my bad, I intended to write "emctl stop oms; emctl start oms"
Actually, it might not be a bad idea to restart the
agent. Deployment should have reloaded the agent's
metadata, but you can restart the agent to see if
that helps. Just because the files are there doesn't
mean that the agent has picked them up.I did that too. No difference.
Confirm that MGMT$TARGET_TYPE shows the metrics
associated with your target type.Okay, here we may have something. My custom target type is not in MGMT$TARGET_TYPE. I log in to Oracle as SYSMAN and look at this table, and I can see the standard ones, but it does not appear to list all target types available from the Add pulldown on the Agent page. This table has both a TARGET_TYPE and a TARGET_NAME column, and it appears to only list created target instances because all rows have values for both columns.
The most basic requirement for all target types is a
Response metric with a Status column, so make sure
you have one of those (and a corresponding collection
file entry).Yes, that's all I have as a matter of fact. Maybe my sample target is too simple? Here's the complete metadata XML file:
<!DOCTYPE TargetMetadata SYSTEM "../dtds/TargetMetadata.dtd">
<TargetMetadata META_VER="0.2" TYPE="echo">
<Display>
<Label NLSID="my_name">Echo</Label>
</Display>
<Metric NAME="Response" TYPE="TABLE">
<Display>
<Label NLSID="my_resp">Response</Label>
</Display>
<TableDescriptor>
<ColumnDescriptor NAME="Status" TYPE="STRING" IS_KEY="FALSE">
<Display>
<Label NLSID="my_resp_Status">Status</Label>
</Display>
</ColumnDescriptor>
</TableDescriptor>
<QueryDescriptor FETCHLET_ID="OSLineToken">
<Property NAME="echo_text" SCOPE="INSTANCE">Hello World!</Property>
<Property NAME="command" SCOPE="GLOBAL">
echo begin %echo_text% end
</Property>
<Property NAME="startsWith" SCOPE="GLOBAL">begin</Property>
<Property NAME="delimiter" SCOPE="GLOBAL">end</Property>
</QueryDescriptor>
</Metric>
<InstanceProperties>
<InstanceProperty NAME="echo_text" CREDENTIAL="FALSE" OPTIONAL="FALSE">
<Display>
<Label NLSID="echo_text_iprop">Text to echo</Label>
</Display>
</InstanceProperty>
</InstanceProperties>
</TargetMetadata>And here's the complete collections XML:
<TargetCollection TYPE="echo" >
<CollectionItem NAME = "Response">
<Schedule>
<IntervalSchedule INTERVAL = "5" TIME_UNIT = "Min"/>
</Schedule>
<MetricColl NAME="Response">
<Condition COLUMN_NAME="Status" CRITICAL="0" OPERATOR="EQ" OCCURRENCES="foo"/>
</MetricColl>
</CollectionItem>
</TargetCollection>According to "emctl ilint", it's valid. I do get an INFO message about "No CATEGORY_PROPERTIES specified for metatdata", but that sounds harmless to me.
On your agent homepage, is the data current, or does
it look like there is some disconnect between agent
and OMS?It seems to be up-to-date. All timestamps are current and the list of Monitored Targets is accurate, even after I removed one of the targets.
And when you try to add your target instance, you're
going to the Monitored Targets section in the middle
of the page and using the Add pulldown on the right
hand side above the table?Yes.
I appreciate any additional ideas you may have. -
We have Oracle 10.2.0.2 as both source and target instance, and OWB 10.1.0.4.
We are planning on upgrading Oracle database to 10.2.0.3.
My question is,
Will OWB 10.1.0.4 support Oracle database 10.2.0.3 as target instance? Please let me know

I have 2 instances VISI1 and VISI2. I have placed VISI2.dbc under VISI1's $FND_SECURE and vice-versa. The extract on VISI1 is working fine. I have also updated the sqlnet.ora file on both the instances for the below parameters:
#iSetup
tcp.validnode_checking=yes
tcp.invited_nodes=(<host for VISI1>,<host for VISI2>)
It is a single node install, and the DB is not RAC. EBS Version is R12.1.3. I have also verified that I can connect to the target database (using sqlplus) from the source database.
Any pointers on how to resolve this issue?
Thanks,

Flash Pro drop target instance during authoring on the artboard
Developing custom components within Flash Professional CS5.5, I am attempting to implement functionality similar to the way a UIScrollBar can be dropped on a TextArea to bind functionally.
Place a TextArea on the artboard.
Drop a UIScrollBar on to the TextArea.
The UIScrollBar will auto-position itself against the TextArea, and if instance names are not defined, the TextArea will receive a name such as ‘InstanceName_0’ and the UIScrollBar’s scrollTargetName will set to match.
For those familiar with Flashblocks Flash CMS, this functionality is replicated using their Editblock component. The Editblock can be dropped on a component, automatically position itself, and bind instance names.
Following threads and examples, I see mostly historical implementations citing _targetInstanceName and scrollTarget.
Functionally, I understand that this is specifying an instance name which is located from the parent to a DisplayObject.
/** target instance display object. */
protected var scrollTarget:DisplayObject;
/** target instance name, used by authoring to locate display object. */
private var _scrollTargetName:String;
[Inspectable()]
public function set scrollTargetName(value:String):void
// with try / catch exception handling, but for example:
scrollTarget = parent.getChildByName(value);
This setter does not fire during authoring.
I’m unsure if I’m missing a specific property name, meta data in the Inspectable tag, an Event, or maybe I am required to extend (Flash Pro’s fl.core) UIComponent?
Are there more current examples / tutorials that anyone could cite?
Please understand that I am not talking about drag-and-drop during runtime. I am speaking about authoring using Flash Professional, dropping components on to each other from Flash Pro’s artboard.
Thanks!So looking further into things, it seemed to have started happening since I installed Steam. While steams loader was active in the background it would cause the flash audio to drop out. I don't know any reason why it would cause this, but have just disabled steam from starting up at all. Any insight on why these two programs would clash and cause audio issues would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Has anyone got any bright ideas for bulk creation of a page hierarchy. We would like to create about 100 pages in a simple hierarchy, and need to reproduce the hierarchy with minor changes in multiple environments. If there were a page creation API this would solve the problem.
Regards
JennyIn Release 2, there is currently no API for creating pages (planned for a PDK release in 1st half of 2003). You can try creating a page hierarchy with the unzip feature or with WebDAV. For unzip, zip up a directory tree, upload it to a zip file item, and unzip it. Each subfolder will create a new page, based on the default template for your page group (if one is defined). In the latter case, copy a directory tree from your hard disk to a portal page mounted as a Web folder.

Facing issue after the the target instance is cloned from production
Hi All ,
We have an oracle configurator developer(source) and transaction instance(target) instances. The target instance is recently cloned from production.
We have made the bom synch between the source and target instances. After making the BOM synch we have deleted all the publication data in cz_model_publications. create a new publication from source to target and published the data.
After successful publication we have run the "Synchronize cloned target" concurrent program as well. Once we are trying to access configurator we are getting the below error . Please help me in resolving this issue as its a critical one in our project.
Please let me know if you need more information.

Instance creation on target system.
Hi,
Could anybody tell me when and who creates the DB instance on the target system during the cloning process ? Is this done automatically by adcfgclone.sh ?
Thanks,
PaulIts done when you issue this command 'perl adcfgclone.pl dbTier'. adcfgclone.pl will prompt for some values required to create the instace and the context file (like SID, domainname, $ORACLE_HOME, $DATA_TOP .. etc).

If I use this in test of mapping : It gives error inovicetypecode not created.
As u can see it has keyfield in sxmb_moni instaead.
Howsover if I remove keyfieldwith invoicetypecode It works fine.
So i think the name is not matched.
So in conversion parameter how I cann retain the name insted of keyfield.
As I also want to use the keyfieldvalue to identify a record in file -
SSDT: Creation of localDB instances from project file - Sql Server Unit testing purposes
I have a SqlServer Database Project in my solution (VS2013 Professional) which has a corresponding test project with some stored procedure unit tests. Currently I am using a LocalDB and as far as I understand a local database instance is created in C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Microsoft
SQL Server Local DB\Instances\Projects and the specific .mdf file referenced in the SQL Server Object Explorer is in C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\SSDT\[ProjectName]. The unit tests run fine on my local machine which I have developed
the project on.
My issue is we have a box which is configured to check out the project file from our version control, build the project using ms build commands and then run the unit tests using VSTest.Console. Usually with C# Test projects we reference the test project
dll and the unit tests run fine. I have referenced the dll for the test project with the stored procedure unit tests in.
With the Stored Procedure unit tests however we get this exception:
Initialization method [project].[spTest].TestInitialize threw exception. System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 50 - Local Database Runtime error occurred. The specified LocalDB instance does not exist.
After some digging I have realised that the localdb instance seems to be created when the project itself is created in VS not when it is built. Specifically when the localdb is first used and if you look into the appData folder of the test machine there
is no corresponding mdf file for the project.
The question is is there a way to set up a localDB instance on the new machine if all you have the project file? The only purpose of the project on the test machine is to run the unit tests, no other development purposes. VS2013 Professional is installed
on the test machine but a solution only using config file changes or MSBuild/VSTest commands would be preferable.
I realise you could change the connection string to an actual test database and run the unit tests of that but we quite like the localdb approach for the testing. I also realise that you could potentially transfer the mdf file (haven't tested this solution)
as well, though I would prefer if there is a solution to my initial question.

I have been reading up on LocalDB and I assume a automatic LocalDB is created when you create a sql server database project (ie on localdb first use). I have tried adding the database creation to the test project config file but do not really know where
to go from there. The second link does not really specify when the named localdb will be created if you add the config items and I am not even sure if that is an actual solution. Here's my test project config file for reference

Thanks in advance for any response. Sorry if there is any misunderstanding, while I have been using VS to develop from the start, this is the first time I have used a Sql Server Database Project.
Regards,
Christopher.Yes, you can create a LocalDB instance manually. You use the SqlLocalDb utility, see here:

Delay in user creation on target resources
I have user records coming from CSV file
| username,id,createdate(mm/dd/yyyy)
| jsmith,96732,09/23/2006
|______________________________________________
depending on createdate the user should be created in LDAP on that date at (00:00 hrs) but on AD that date at 13:00 hrs.
I have added deferredTask to the user's profile's.
But whenever the deferred task scanner runs on createdate; it immediately creates on both the target resources.
Is there some way to control the creation in AD till 13:00 hrs on createdate
Thanks in advance.Unfortunately I do not know your answer. But can you give me an overview of how you go about loading accounts from a flat-file into IDM and then creating them in LDAP. I want to do exactly the same thing.
Do you bring them into IDM via load from file or activesync?
How do you ensure then get created in the right branch?
Are you using custom or out of the box workflow?
Thanks! -
Creation of ASM instance.
hi all,
can any one help me out in this regard??
i have a DB in 10gR1 in normal file system. i want to convert this to ASM instance.
Is that first i need to create disk groups followed by adding the asm parameters in init.ora file and then bringing it up or what else the sequence????
can any one give the clear link for creating the disk groups and creation of an asm instance along the asm related init.ora parameters????
I am glad to have your help in this regard...Please look into Oracle Metalink Document I.D. Note:270065.1 (Use Automatic SGA Management).

Demand Planning: creation of several Instances or Organizations
Hello,
I have to setup and ODP environment for several entities. The data will come from legacy systems (not Oracle Applications) from each entity.
We will have as many plans as entities. I would like to know if it is better to create only One Instance, and each entity is defined as organization, or if it is better to create one Instance for each entity.
What are the pros and cons of each method ?
Thanks in advance.ct,
It is usually about common data and workload.
If going the Instance per Entity route: each Instance will require a full collection of data (Products, Bill of Materials, Customers, Organisation etc.) to set up the structures that Demand Planning needs. There can be tremendous data management issues with having multiple instances.
If your multiple entities share common data then it would be easier to manage them as Organisations of one Instance. The maintenance and loading of data would be much easier. The new Demand Plan Scoping functionality will also enable easy Demand Plan creation per Org.
Making the assumption that your entities don't share common data I would advise doing some analysis to determine how easily they could be merged and what the maintenance effort would be. If the source data is merged then you may get benefit in reduced customisation of hierrachies and data streams.
Regards
Simon.
