Bullet points in Captivate 5.5 and 6.0

I have not been able to get adequate support or an acceptable solution to this persistent problem so I'm posting it here hoping for some help.

Hi there,
In Captivate 6 when you import a pptx file (if it is ppt in your case save it as pptx) you will see an option High Fidelity in the PowerPoint Import Dialog. Check that option & import the pptx.
The bullets issue you mentioned here should not happen with High Fidelity import.

Animating a list of bullet points in Captivate 6 -- How?

Hello,
I have a list of 8 bulleted items in a single text caption on several of my slides. I would like each of the points to appear one at time and sync them with the Neo Voice that will be presenting each of those points. Is there a way to animate each of these points (no crazy animation -- just simply appear) without making each of them a separate text captions? My biggest problem with making them each a separate caption is lining them up perfectly so that they are directly underneath each other and have the same amount of spacing between them....

No way to do that with one text caption.
But about lining up and distributing the text captions: are they all 'oneliners'?
In that case: create the first text caption and put it in the wanted location. Then follow this routine to create the second one:
duplicate the first text caption with CTRL-D
use the sequence SHIFT-LEFT and SHIFT-UP: now the two captions are exactly in the same location
use shortcut key SHIFT-DOWN to move the second caption down until you have the wanted place, and try to remember the number of times you used the shortcut
If you repeat this for each following caption they will all be aligned perfectly and distributed.
If they are not all oneliners, then choose the biggest text caption (in height), co-select all the others and:
use the right-click menu to resize them all to the same size (Align, Resize to same size) or if you are a click-click user open Window, Align, all buttons you need are there
use the Align toolbar (Window menu) or the right click menu to align them left
put the bottom one as low as possible, and use menu or toolbar to distribute them vertically

Use mask to show one bullet point at a time

I have content in multiple bullet points of text. The background is a texture. I'd like to use mask to show the text in sync with audio. It works but the text is the color of the mask. I have bullet point itself in a different color. How can I mask the area to show and use its own color?
Or is there a better way to sync multiple bullet points of text without having each bullet points in its own layer and MC?

Installed Yosemite and my power point bullet fonts have gone weird. How can I revert back to original bullet point menus

Since installing Yosemite the font menu on my bullet points has changed to strange symbols. I am using Office for mac 2011

Its fine when I preview in browser, only once it's been uploaded do the marks become jumbled. Why?

Thanks Zak..The server host said that the jumbled marks are appearing as binary code while the rest of the text is appearing as "text".
They believe that the problem may be occurring at the FTP. The server host is configured to host binary and unicode.
They advised me to upload a zipped folder containing the site and they will try and open it at their end. Also, not sure if this is unique
to Adobe font kits. Its from Adobe Font kit.

Grep styles and bullet points

Is there a way of using GREP styles to insert bullet points on text after a specific heading has been detected?
I am working on a brochure where many of the pages will have a features section, so am reluctant to manually overide paragraph styles. The "FEATURES:" heading will always stay the same, the text within the bullet points will change.
At the moment I have the following layout...

test4
What I am hoping to achieve is this...

I haven't used GREP styles before but from looking round it seems the most obvious feature to use, so if anyone has an alternate solution that'd be great.

Header should be a paragraph style on it's own.

It's unlikely Muse will ever have tab stops (since HTML/CSS has no concept of tab stops).
Lists and tables are both highly requested features. It's likely lists will be supported in Muse before tables, not due to prioritization, but due to the fact tables is vastly more complicated and thus more work to design, implement and test.

Need some hand-holding and bullet point direction

ok, i need some help. We shoot our church services on Sony PDW-700 HD XDCAMS. We shoot in 420 HQ (whatever that is). Once we finish shooting the service, we pull the source video off of the XDCAM disk using the Sony XDCAM transfer utility. I believe we end up with a .mls file. We then edit the source and send it to compressor and then to DVD studio pro and it gets burned to a standard DVD. What we end up with is a video with artifacts in it. What I mean by artifacts is wavy lines around the edges of movement.
What I need to know, from step 1 to step whatever, is HOW to get the source from FCP to DVD w/out artifacts. It seems that we should be able to produce a DVD that looks better than ours and w/out the wavy lines around the edges of moving objects.
What I'm looking for is something like this:
When we open FCP, are there any preferences we need to have set before we import our source or will FCP adjust our project settings to match our source?
When done editing, do we need to do anything special when we send it to compressor?
Once in DVDSP, what do we need to be doing to make sure it comes out looking it's best.
I realize I am asking a lot here, but we're not novices. We understand things like the format of our media, etc. We're looking for a list or bullet point process to get from Media to DVD and have it look it's best.

If you have any doubts regarding the format you shot,
look in the Browser, control-click the media file, and select Item Properties > Format.
That will tell you exactly what FCP thinks you're using.
Note that if Field Dominance is None, your clip is progressive.
In the future, you should ask your camera crew to shoot progressive.

Although he's talking about going from XDCAM EX to a PAL DVD,
most of the principles apply. In particular:
• Set Rendering preferences to ProRes 422, i.e.
Sequence Settings > Render Control > Render > Codec
• Do your HD edit.
• When it's time to convert to SD (step 2 in the article) create a new sequence
with the settings NTSC Anamorphic. This will preserve the nice wide-screen look
of the original footage even when played on an SD DVD.
• Step 4 of the article: choose NTSC anamorphic.
If your footage was shot interlaced, choose field dominance lower (even).
The compressor is NTSC, and the frame rate is 29.97.
In the advanced compression settings, note that it should be 16:9,
and Progressive if you're shooting or converting to progressive.

Power point bullet point numbering

Hi,
I have just converted a PowerPoint presentation to a captivate course, entering questions etc. throughout.
3 or 4 of the slides have numbered bullet points, and 2 of those slides the number sequence wasn't kept. it just lists each point as 1. (there are six 1.'s rather than 1-6).
In the PowerPoint slide the numbering is 1-6, in the working captivate file (captivate 7) it is 1-6, and in the edit in PowerPoint screen it is 1-6.
In the preview or published versions it is there are 6 bullets all numbered 1.
Any thoughts?

You cant change the bullet timing easily (at least not in a
straight forward way)
after importing in Captivate. However those timings already
present in power point slides are honored by Captivate. You need to
ensure you do the following in the powerpoint animations so that it
appears automatically:
1. Go to Timing tab
2. Change the Start to "After previous"
3. Delay to (say 5 sec)

Animating bullet points on a single slide

I have a slide with 4 bullet points on.
How do I progress the bullets by clicking play and having the slide automatically advance to reveal the next bullet and pause before showing the bullet after that. Like you would build in Keynote or PowerPoint
I can do this over 4 individual slides but that seems ridiculous in this day and age.

Of course I wouldn't dream of using this level of software without some training. My first port of call before I even signed up for the trial was Lynda.com. I subscribe to that site and have always been impressed with their work. I did over 5 hours with 'Adobe Captivate 8 Essential Training' and 'Captivate Projects: Mobile and Responsive Design' I then revisited them after I started the trial and have been revisiting then frequently for the past two days. Good courses I thought!
There are all sort of bugs in AC8 that are both frustrating and surprising for a mature piece of software...I guess its probably just me with unreasonably high expectations. Manually scrolling the timeline often does not give a true representation of the slides progress...reordering timeline layers often leaves the layer names in the wrong order, allocated to the wrong layer - with the need to select another slide and then select the original to correct the layer names. Layers also sometimes jump when moving them. Grouping objects is a very unpredictable operation - these are just a few of the more frequent frustrations.
The inability to on the fly test in different browsers...? :-0
No .ai or even .svg import...pretty unbelievable...astonishing even! AI is part of the Adobe Family - How wonderful would this be for Smart Shapes instead of the basic array of tools AC provides.

I could go on but I don't want to bore you and in truth I expect, being such a new user, I am getting much of this wrong and missing where to control these issues.
Doing a simple PowerPoint type presentation that I can export to HTML5, with a bit of user interaction I expected to be a walk in the park for AC...but its actually a very intricate process...maybe I should go back Hype3 Pro, a good HTML5 application...but Its a much lower level of app I love to learn to use industry standard software. The must be a reason AC has such a dedicated user-base.
I am however, terrifically grateful to you for taking the me to try and help me.
I'll re-start my efforts again in the morning when my stress level have returned to something around normal!

Converting Paragraphs into Bullet Points

Previous to Leopard I was using Microsoft Entourage as my mail client. With the release of Leopard I migrated to Apple Mail. In Entourage you could highlight a series of paragraphs and turn them into bullet points. (I am unsure whether this same feature existed in the Tiger mail application.)
When I tried to perform this same operation in Leopard Mail it didn't work. I was left with one empty bullet point above the text that had been highlighted. When I tried to fill in that empty bullet point by copying and pasting the text I hoped to use for the first bullet point that initial procedure was successful. However, when I attempted to cut and past the text I hoped to use for the second bullet point the first bullet point and its accompanying text disappeared.
That was not a good conclusion to my efforts.
Did Tiger Mail allow you to highlight paragraphs and turn them into bullet points? Is that a capability that has now been lost in Leopard Mail?
Is there any way in Leopard Mail to convert pre-existing paragraphs of text into bullet points?

The steps Zoooot suggested might also work. Post captivate 5 release we have two releases where we fixed/improved lot of issues related to PPTX import. I would also suggest you to download a trial of Captivate 6 and try the PPTX workflow, and let us know your thoughts regarding your usecase.

How can I use bullet points on the ipad keyboard?

When writing Notes, on my iPhone, there is a key for bullet points on the keyboard. This doesn't seem to exist on the iPad3 keyboard and just wondered if there is any other way to use bullet points on iPad. They are both set to the English UK keyboard.

There are many other keyboard keys that are hidden under the standard virtual keyboard keys. They will vary from keyboard to keyboard based on your language settings but this article will point you in the right direction.

Unordered list not showing up as indented bullet points within Accordian

I have a page using the spry accordian, and about five different catagories of information. Some of the copy is in unordered lists (in martial arts catagories), but it shows up as as regular text. Any ideas on how to make it view as a typical unordered list with bullet points and indented?

Bullet Points & Attachment Preview

Just switched from Entourage to Mail in anticipation syncing w/ a new iPhone. However, when composing emails I can't figure out how to create a bullet point list in the body of the message.
Also, is there a way to configure your inbox to preview attachments (e.g. as in Entourage)?

Bullet problem when creating text frames and tables in InDesign CS5

Every time I create a new text frame or table in InDesign CS5 and paste information there, the first row in the table or several lines of text come out with bullet points. I'm sure this is a setting or style at some point I created and now am unsure of how to delete. I would like the new text frames and tables to not include bullet points as a default when imported or pasted. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Defaults for text in the current document are made with no text selected. Turn off bullets and they should stay off (but check the styles, too, you might have accidentally set a bulleted style as the defualt and you should change the default style instead). If this is happening in all files, you need to do it with nothing open to reset the default for all new documents (existing files, unfortunately, need to be fixed one at a time).
