Bullets and Numbering "Text After" attribute

Hi Everyone,
I need to grab "Text After" attribute of and existing bullet list in InDesign document and change it to my text. I think, I need to get access to "kBNBulletTextAfterBoss", but I don't know which boss agregates it.

I've found it a much better practice, especially in heavily numbered documents, to look for a paragraph style that can be set to start at zero. I usually apply it to any headings or subheadings where the numbering below remains consistent. But that's just my experience.
You can also right click and restrat or continue numbering.

CSS - Specifically bulleted and numbered lists

i am really struggling with the css and the bulleted and number list format.
i have so many questions i do not know where to begin so i will start with what i think should be just plain common sense:
1. i originally imported a css into the robohelp 8 project and have worked for a couple of weeks trying to straighten out the styles with no success
so today i started from scratch creating a new cascading style sheet but i have real questions about what i have created, where i can see it, how i can apply it and how it DOES NOT reflect in the toolbar styles drop down list.
first question:
i have a custom style sheet that clearly shows i have a list style defined called 'bullet1'. i can see the style in my formatting pod (pane) but i do not see it in the styles drop down list on the formatting toolbar. so why are my styles from my CSS not in the styles drop down list on the formatting toolbar and also, when i apply a style (say from the formatting pod/pane) shouldnt the drop down styles list reflect the style name when it is clicked on? For example: i clearly applied the bullet1 style (from the formatting pod/pane) and saved the topic. when i go and click on the bullet1 list, the style drop down on the formatting menu still says (none). no matter what i do, the only style that is reflected in the styles drop down field on the formatting toolbar (when i click on the text) is heading1 and heading2 but other than that, any numbered or bulleted style i create and apply does not show that that style has been applied.
second question:
what is the difference between the formatting pod (Pane) and the styles drop down list on the formatting toolbar? from experience with word, the styles drop down list on the formatting toolbar should reflect the current style when a character or paragraph is selected....it does not here in robohelp.
third question:
why does the style drop down list only show a few styles out of all of the styles that show in my CSS?
forth question:
can i assume that if i have a css created and applied TO ALL topics in the project that the 'formatting' pod/pane will show only those styles from that css? i am very confused on what i am seeing in the formatting pod/pane. are these JUST the custom styles created for a particular style sheet? are these ALL styles available in robohelp?
i am not liking how difficult it is to create a style (specifically bullets and numbers) , apply a style and to view the style that has been applied!

Hi,
Drop down list shows paragraphs, headings and character styles. Also when you create a class style (.myclass) without a element selector, this style will show in the drop down list.

Plug-in for bullets and numbered lists in Mail??

Does anyone know of any plug-ins for the Mail app to do bullets and numbered lists like Entourage??
The lack of this functionality really makes Mail kinda lame and unusable for me.

the fact that Mail does not support bullit lists is not an oversight but was done on purpose. It may look good on your computer when you compose the message, but you have little influence in the way recipients see that message. It can get very messy, I can assure you.
If you want a perfect layout, compose in a wordprocessor and save as PDF, send that as an attachment.

Bullets and Numbering buttons/options?

Hi. Am in a bit of a bind, hope someone can help.
Using InDesign CS 3.0.1 on Windows. Packaged and installed by the company I work for, so I cannot update manually (if it turns out I need to....?)
My problem: Cannot find any options for Bullets and Numbering.
It has just occurred to me, as I type this, that "InDesign 3.0.1" might not equate to "InDesign CS3" ? This is potentially very confusing! Do I have a version of InDesign here that doesn't have Bullet/Numbering buttons in the Paragraph Control Toolbar?
If these buttons should exist, I'd like to know why I don't have them. I have tried restoring prefs etc. to defaults but they're still not appearing.
Interestingly a search in the Help doesn't yield any answers, so I'm thinking I may have a version which doesn't have this feature?!?
Could someone confirm/deny, and let me know what version I need if it's the case that I have a previous version.

Weirdness with Bullets and Numbers

I'm using RH8 on Windows XP. Ever since I upgraded, every time I format a block of text with bullets OR numbers, the software changes my Arial 10 point text to Times New Roman 12. It's getting annoying having to reformat my text every time I put it in bullets or numbers. Is this a "feature?" Is there some uber-style that's overriding my stylesheet?

Afaik, there is nu überstyle in RH. Assuming you don't use the RoboHelp multilevel lists: You probably want to set global list styles in your CSS. You need the UL tag for unordered lists and the OL tag for Ordered lists.
For instance:
UL, OL {
Font-family: Arial, sans-serif;
Font-size: 10pt;
To make all your unformatted lists Arial 10 pt.
Search around a bit on the forum. A lot of people have had problems with lists, and there have been a lot of posts already on this subject. If you can't find what you're looking for, please post again.

Bullets and Transparent text boxes

hello,
I've checked out the postings already for this issue and
appreciate Ricks tip on fixing the font blur issue. However, I have
another bug with bullets in transparent text boxes.
Upon preview or publish of a project, I see a ghost color (a
little lighter) of my background color which is light blue . So,
basically the text box is no longer transparent and looks really
bad.

Hi Rick,
Let me describe what is happening a little more clearly. Here
is the basics so maybe you can reproduce it. I belive I did come up
with a fix for myself.
1) Add a background image to the slide that is merged not an
overlay image
- My image is a png file imported into the library and added
to every slide. It has a solid light blue background with a dark
blue strip on top and a brand from the client at the top left (very
basic)
2) Add a transparent text box caption
3) Add text that includes bullet points
Result: When you put a text caption with bullets over a slide
background that is an image(even solid color) you get a ghost that
oulines the text caption dimensions. If the text caption doesn't
have bullets, the ghost outline doesn't appear, but the text is
blurry. Obviously the text can be fixed by highlighting on
character in #C0C0C0.
My temporary fix: Because the ghost ouline seems to appear
when a text caption with bullets is on top of a background image, I
modifed my background image so that the light blue part (this is
the area when all the content will be) is actually transparent and
no longer a color. I then set color for all slides backgrounds to
be the light blue that was origninally in my image. This seems to
work, but there are some color fading issues that I need to explore
and work out more.
Thanks much and look forward to pushing the boundaries of
Captivate once I my head around it more.
P.S If I have a background image on each screen (branding and
consistent purposes), when I set up a simulation, do I have to
merge each screen shot into the background or can the screen shots
created by Captivate just overlay my background image.

Creating Colored Bullets w/blk text

I am so frustrated, and really hope someone can help me.
Back when I was using CS2, I created a template for our newsletter. Now, due to new branding, I need to change the colors of the bullets that are used within the document. I created a paragraph style for the bullets, oh so many years ago, so my initial thought was, "Easy, I'll just edit the color setting inside the paragraph style and be all done." HA!
Nowhere in the paragraph setting can I find the command where I set the bullet color, so I can't change it! When I use the "character color" setting, my text changes, but the bullet color remains the same. I also tried to edit one of the standard InDesign "Bullets and Numbers#" settings in the character styles to no avail.
I now use CS 6 v. 8.0.2 on a Win XP xp3 platform.
Any guidance will be GREATLY appreciated.

Susan, do it step by step
1- Create a paragaph style to the text.
2- Edit paragraph style, Bullet and numbers>Bullets and add a new character style with the color.
After do these steps, make sure the style on character style panel is set to none.

ID CS2 and numbering paragraph

I try to build a paragraph style using European Pi (the Type 1 version) as the numbered character to get reversed type in a black filled circle. The rest of the paragraph is formatted with Myriad Pro. It seems to be impossible: the numbered character does not appear, whatever color is used.

I suppose this is a bit late, and you've probably already solved this, but create a character style for the numbered character, and be sure to choose it in the Bullets and Numbering paragraph style options.
This should take care of the situation.

How to Upgrade Pages and Numbers (iWork '09) for Lion?

I am currently running Mac OS 10.5.8. I understand Pages and Numbers (iWork '09) is now obsolete. How do I prevent the data in Pages and Numbers from becoming entombed?
In other words, how do I work on my old Pages and Numbers files after upgrading to Lion (10.7.x)?

iWork '09 is the current version. It is not obsolete, but it must be updated by running Software Update in order to use it on a newer OS version.
Documents made with earlier version of iWork are not obsolete either.

The bullet list, numbered list and the normal text is not converting when I am converting from RH 9 to MS Word 2010

Greetings for the day
I am created a new CSS in Robohelp 9. I have also created a new template in Word 2010. The style sets for different information elements like (Heading, bullets, body text, ) are more or less same between the CSS and the new templates. I am also able to map the .css styles to Word template when I am converting from RH to Word as I am getting the necessary option in the drop-down list.
However, when the output is generated, the bullet, the numbered list and the body text is not converting at all. The body text works sometimes. However, the numbered list and bullet list is coming out as images.
If anybody knows the solution, I can share the .css and Word template.

Create a new project with two or three topics containing lists of both types. Generate a printed output that shows the problem. Then zip it up and send it to me. See the Contact page on my site for instructions.

RH8 conversion (bullet images and numbered lists are different)

Has anyone experience bullet images in their custom styles changing from RH7 to RH8 and numbers in numbered lists resized?
Bullets
I noticed that all my bullet images have changed. They are OK in Design view, but change when the topics are previewed and generated.
For example, if the style used a small square bullet image, it was changed to the bullet used at the beginning of this sentence.
If I attempt to create a new bullet list in the existing topic using the Normal style (Arial 12) and Formatting Toolbar (Bullets), the bullet and text are changed to (Arial 10) and the style name changes to (none) in Design view. Preview and generated is also Arial 10 for both.
Numbered Lists
Most of the existing converted topics used the Normal style and Formatting Toolbar (Numbers) for numbered lists. There is spacing between each numbered line. The numbers and text are in (Arial 12) in Design view, but the numbers are (Arial 10) when the topics are previewed and generated and the text remains (Arial 12).
If I select the numbered list, click the numbered list icon to turn off numbering, and then click to turn on numbering, the numbers and text are (Arial 10) and the style is changed to (none). Output and preview are (Arial 10). The spacing between the numbered items is deleted.
I have to then highlight that list and change the style back to Normal for (Arial 12) text.
If I attempt to create a new numbered list in the existing topic using the Normal style (Arial 12) and Formatting Toolbar (Bullets), the bullet and text are changed to (Arial 10) and the style name changes to (none) in Design view. Preview and generated is also Arial 10 for both.
This has taken up a lot of my time. Any clues?

I went to the link you provided.I am still confused as to the step by step procedure to fix my custom bullet style that is used throughout my project. Can you globally fix this issue? It would be too time consuming to figure out where in 1200 topics this style is used. I guess I don't understand list styles.

Another topic using ths sam (BulletList) style - Preview mode (incorrect should be square bullets)
I select Format > Styles in design mode. Right-click on BulletList, select Edit.
If I ceate a bulleted list, the square bullet is selected.

BI Publisher -RTF Template issue: Output report not maintaining text with bullets and numberings.

Hi All,
I am currently working with generating reports using BI Publisher. My issue is that when I will preview the output(in PDF and RTF) format's of the newly created template, then, if the data coming from DB have some bullets or numbering, then the BI publisher output will ignore the same and will show the complete data as one single line.
For example if the data in the DB Field is like below:
The XYZ has the below sub-parts:
ABC : This again has two parts:
abc1
abc2
CDE
FGH
Then this data will appear as below in the BI Publisher output report's:
The XYZ has the below sub-parts: • ABC : This again has two parts: o abc1 o abc2 • CDE • FGH
I want the format of the data (with bullets and number's) should be maintained in the BI Publisher Report as well, but I am unable to find any solution for the same.
Any help on the same is much appreciated.

in your query will u get all the columns always null when column1 is null
in your template for each group u can write like below
think G_1 as group in your xml

or if u are not sure u get null in both places every time u can write like below

The application auto-saves your input when you close the document. If you left the document, as you state, the notes/comments should have been saved and should have been visible the next time you opened the document with the Mobile Reader (note that if you are opening the document with another app such as Apple's built in PDF Viewer, things like notes/comments may not be visible). Also note that if you are doing an Open In... from another app (like Dropbox), the version of the document in Dropbox does not update; only the version of the document in the Mobile Reader is updated.

My App Store is not responding after upgrading to Mavericks and installing free Keynote, Pages and Numbers Apps.
Also I tried to reboot and restart and nothing happens still unresponsive.
Tried to click as many times as I can the App Store and it won't open.

While not in edit mode:
- if start typing numbers, then it enters number mode.
- if start typing text, then it enters text mode.
Using the arrow keys exits edit mode. So this should work for you:
1 Type text into a cell, which enters text mode.
2 Press Return to move to the next cell.
3 Press right arrow key to exit edit mode.
4 Press left arrow key to get back to the cell.
5 Type a number, which enters number mode.
Another method that requires more planning ahead of time is to format the cells as text or number before starting the data entry. Then when you navigate to a cell while in edit mode, you will be in the appropriate mode (without having to exit edit mode).
This all works fine for me. Hopefullly it does for you also.
