Burning multiple dvd's

I have 200+ iDVD projects that either need to be burned or converted to disk images. I know there is no easy way to rush the process. I have a robotic dvd duplicator if that helps. Is there a way to queue the jobs to let them burn, or save to a disk image after I have left work. Any imaginative suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

what would be the advantage of creating disk images over burning them?
Are the contest viewers going to view them through settop dvd players or on computers?
is there a deadline? when are these contests going to take place?
lets see, 200 projects at about 4 hours each gives 800 hours ÷ 3 a day (8 am, 12pm, 4pm) or 266 days. (pretty much answers the question asking in the macpro discussion board whether two drive bays is useful)
so i agree with j keller, a lab might do the trick.
Or you could rent, borrow or buy a slew of external drives, lets say 6 plus the internal one, 7 and we have 800 ÷ 7 ÷ 3 and we're down to 38 days. But you're imac ain't be doing not'in else. (i luuuv my 8-cores, there's no going back)
how long does it take you to encode a project on your imac?
or you could outsource. If i lived in your city, i would help you out, 12 projects a day. Then a dollar a project would be a nice gesture on your part.
Find a few people like me and in no time its done.

    Does anyne know if there is a way or a program to burn multiple dvd's to let's say 4 firewire dvd burners at the same time? This may be a stupid question but I really don't want to buy a duplicator if I can buy 4 firewire burners and use them at the same time. Has anyone done this?

  • Wondering if iDVD can burn multiple DVDs

    Hello,
    I am trying to burn an iDVD project to a single layer DVD but the size of the iDVD project won't fit on a single layer DVD. I've already adjusted the Encoding information (deselected Best Performance and chose either High Quality or Professional Quality, forgot which one right now). But after doing this, it still won't fit nicely on a single layer DVD. Can iDVD span multiple discs for a large project?
    I know if I buy some dual-layer DVDs, it would fit. But right now, I am wondering if spanning multiple DVD discs is do-able within iDVD.

    Let's say your movie runs 140 minutes. You need to take in into iMovie and split it into two 70 minute movie segments and then create an iDVD project for each of the two new movies.

    Ok I have heard about (http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/intensity/). My question is, will that let me see my clips as if it where being played on a DVD player? For example: Sometimes I compress a clip and it looks as if everytime someone moves they have lines on them, but when I burn it on DVD and watch it on my TV it looks fine or vise versa. Also sometimes when I compress something and burn it and play it on the TV the people have like this ghosting affect when they move but not when I watch the compressed file on my mac. Basicly I am tiered of wasting my DVDs just to make sure it looks ok. Will this "http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/intensity/" solve my problem?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. If you save the project to Disk Image first you might be able to burn two at a time. Saving as a disk image lets you check the encoding with DVD Player first before committing to disk. Then burn it with Disk Utility at the slowest speed possible.
    Yesterday's MacOSXHints site has a hint on how to open multiple occurrences of the same application, in this case Disk Utilty: An easy way to run multiple instances of any program.
    If that didn't work you could use Disk Utiltiy to burn the disk image while using iDVD to burn directly from the project. The first burn would be very slow as it would have to redo the encoding but then it would go pretty fast after that. Be sure to give the drives a bit of a rest. You don't want them to overhead and fail which is possible.

    Hello! I'm new on my Mac. I've got it all pretty much figured out, but, I need to know if there is a way to use both my DVD burners at the same time while burning DVDs through iDVD? I sometimes have to make 50 or more copies of the same project, and it would be great to use them both at the same time. I see that you have to choose which drive to burn to, and I don't see how I can use both. Any ideas on how I can do that? It doesn't seem as though the Mac will allow opening 2 instances of the same application... help!

  • Best way to burn multiple DVDs?

    I need to burn about 30-40 DVDs of a project that I created in DVD SP. What is the best way to do this? The first one took a couple of hours to process and burn.

    I use a 1-to-8 duplication tower with an internal hard drive; load the DVD onto the hard drive and make several copies at the same time.
    But if you don't have one of those, Toast does a nice job. Or you can do it in Disk Utility: http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/making_dvdcopies.html

  • Encore 2.0 - Burning Multiple DVD Copies

    I recently finished a project where I needed 10 copies of the finished DVD. I created an iso file, then used Encore 2.0 to burn. I set the number of copies to 10 and proceeded to burn #1. The #1 DVD worked fine and Encore asked for the next DVD. After putting in #2, the prog just sat there. I tried different copy numbers, but it would always "hang" after #1. I finished the project by burning one at a time.
    Anyone ever seen this before?

    Yes. You can use Apple's Disk Utilities or Roxio Toast to copy an iDVD. (Both make perfect copies with no generation loss whatsoever). Please remember to mark this as Helpful or Solved.

    does toast 7 support burning multiple dvds at the same time or does dvd studio pro have enough options to do the same?

    DVDSP can only burn one DVD at a time.
    I don't know about Toast 7. I'm still using Toast 5 which cannot burn more than one at a time.
    However, Disk Utility, which is part of MacOS X 10.4, can burn mulitple DVDs in multiple drives. To use Disk Utility, first create a disk image with DVDSP by selecting hard drive during the format process instead of your DVD drive. Open the resulting disk image file in Disk Utility and you can burn as many DVDs simultaneously as you have DVD burners.
    In Disk Utility,
    1. Select your disk image from the list on the left.
    2. Click the "Burn" button (top left of window) and select the DVD burner from the popup menu.
    3. When your blank is loaded and ready, click the Burn button.
    As soon as the first DVD starts burning, repeat the process except this time select a different DVD burner from the popup menu.

  • How can I burn a DVD after I "Share" a project to a folder?

    Working wiht Premiere Elements 8 -
    I'm having issues with the DVD burner on on my Win 7 machine and I'm looking for a way to burn multiple DVD's more efficiently. I have Shared the project to a folder and want to be able to burn the DVD's from the folder. This will save me a lot of time as the project won't need to keep encoding every time I try to burn the disk. Buring multiple disks doesn't seem to work for me either.
    Any ideas on how to make this happen?

    Thanks Bill. I downloaded the shareware and started the burn (before I left for work this morning), so I'll be able to test it and see how well it works...

  • Re-burn a DVD from .m2v and .ac3 files

    Can someone explain to me if one can re-burn a DVD from Compressor after you've created the .m2v (mpeg-2) and .AC3 (dolby audio) files?
    Here is my problem. I create a DVD with Compressor and have both the .m2v and .ac3 files on my drive. I'd like to save these and not have to re-compress the original ProRes file all over again and just burn these again to another DVD in the future.
    How do you do that? Do you need another program to do this?
    Any help appreciated!

    No.  Compressor can't use the elementary streams to build a DVD.
    To burn multiple DVDs, save to a disk image (Output Device = Hard Drive) and burn that from that in Disk Utility.

    I am having a problem burning multiple DVDs. My first DVD burns fine but my second one won't complete the process. It stays in the "BURN PROCESS Current Operation: Writing Lead-Out..." phase for hours without ever completing the burn. I am using good quality Taiyo Yuden 8X DVD-R blank discs.     At the bottom of this new window it reads nn Objects and xx.xx Gb free space.
    Else:
    Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows:
    Many possible origins. Most common:
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disc if it is less than 10Gb should raher have 25Gb
    • Hard disc is untidy: Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disc (Apple Disc Util tool)
    • Delete iDVD pref file - or rather start a new account - log into this and re-try
    • Program miss-match: iDVD 6.0.3, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.3 - is OK

  • BURNING ADDITIONAL DVDs

    I have coded 14 slide shows and burned individual DVDs which run successfully on ordinary DVD players.  I now want to make more copies in 2 ways:
    1) Burn additional DVDs of each with one per DVD.  Must I recode them again and burn?  Grrrr, if so.
    2) "Bundle" several of the shows onto 1 DVD.  How do I do that?  The Adobe documentation doesn't give a clue.

    Yes, I am a professional and usually work in PrPro. I am working on a similar Project for a client, that begins in the 1860's and goes up until very current times. Though it focuses on on member of the family, the full "tree" is used to set the stage. Right now, we've got over 2000 scanned still images, over 100 3-D animations and motion Assets from Mac-based animators, over 100 separate Video Clips, and maybe 300 Titles. Every still image is separately animated and is over an abstract background to compensate for vertical and square images. The entire Project is scored, and there will be minimal narration. This is done to produce an 8-DVD set, that will be distributed to about 25 surviving family members.
    In PrPro, I can work with Sequences (think of these as mini-Projects within a larger Project), and there are 19 at this moment.
    Were I working in PrE, I would just have 19 Projects, and would Export/Share each of these to a "Master Project," for assembly and final output. Even with PrPro, I still have a similar step, as I use a separate authoring program, Adobe Encore, to do my output to DVD-Video. There, I assemble the DV-AVI files from my Sequences (the number changes, per the individual DVD that I am working on), add my Menus by hand, and establish the links to the Encore Timelines. PrE does this for you in a semi-automatic way. You would Export/Share as DV-AVI's then Import into that Master Project - I Export to DV-AVI and then Import these as a Timeline in Encore. Same number of steps, though I am using two different programs, while you are using to separate Projects in the same program. The biggest difference is that you only need to pick a Menu Set, set your DVD Markers, and push one button. I have to do the "assembly" by hand and manually link everything together for my navigation. Much more hand-work, but with the benefit of much more power and greater control. However, I am doing 3-D animations that launch, when one chooses a Button, to seamlessly start that Button's Timeline. As I said, a whole lot more work.
    I think that you have everything that you need to do your Boy Scout Project. It's probably all sitting in front of you, and you are but a few steps away from getting the job done.
    Let's start a new thread, so that others will be able to find and follow along with the assembly of your Projects into a Master. If you could do a little list of the Projects that you have already, and how you would like to assemble them into that Master, I'll be glad to step you though every phase of this Project. To me, the editing is the "fun part," and I'd love to make it so for you. The "work" will just be the Export/Share of those intermediate Projects. That will take some time, but it would for me too. Personally, I find that a good time to jump on my laptop, and hang out here - while the workstation is crunching the Export.
    Once we get you started, It should be the same for you. Let's get you though Lesson 1, with that new post and an outline of the Project, and while you're doing the Export/Share, we'll move on to Lesson 2. Piece-o-cake!
    When time comes to establish your navigation, we'll likely want a bit of input from others (they are more than welcome at every step, BTW), as I do not use PrE for my authoring, and there are major differences between the authoring function in PrE and Adobe Encore. I'll need some "lessons" here too. Once we have that part behind us, I'll step you though getting ready to Burn multiple DVD-Videos as efficiently as is possible.
    In that new post, please give me a rundown of your system. Things like the number of physical burners, and even your available HDD space can determine which path we take. It can be very easy, but I do not want to make suggestions that do not play with your system.
    I do not think that you will need my assistance, beyond this forum. If you decide otherwise, I'll be your "safety net." Note: I do not have PrE 8, so I could not open your Project files. Though PrPro can open most PrE Project files, my version, PrPro 2.0, cannot open PrE 8 files - I've already tried this. This would mean that you'd still have to do the Export/Share to DV-AVI and then ship those large files to me on an external HDD, for me to do the final edit. You will still be doing the majority of the "heavy lifting," and the next few steps would be so easy for you.
    If you need to get input as to what would be beneficial in that next post, do not hesitate to PM (Personal Message) me through the PM tab in your Profile. I'll get you a list of details. I'd also like to keep the real lessons in the forum for two reasons: remember that authoring in PrE is not my strong suit, and those lessons are likely to help others with similar Projects in the future. If we did it all via PM and e-mail, then others will not benefit, and when we get to authoring in PrE, I will still need to post for help in this forum, so I can get you through that phase.

    Do I need to get a separate program to burn multiples copies of a DVD on Mac, and not have the copies separate into AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS?  I made a series of lesson plans on iMovie.  When it opens on the original disk, it goes right to my music and intro menu.  When I try to burn it to a new DVD, it shows up as AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS.  It does not open at all.  Please advise.

    Does the disk image that you created from the previously burned iDVD project look like this?
    If so you don't copy any part of it to a blank DVD.  You open Disk Utility and select it like I do in this screenshot:
    insert a blank DVD and click on the Burn button.
