  • FI GL , FI AP , FI AR and Asset Accounting

    Hi,
What are the steps for FI GL, FI AP , FI AR extraction.
Can anybody explain in simple terms rather than putting up help links as I could understand the business content for the same but didn't find the steps for extraction.
Is it same for Asset Accounting ?
    Thanks,
    JB

For non-LO extractors, steps are the same.
RSA5 in R/3, go to the application component ( such as FI, CO, etc) and look for your data source. Activate the data sources.
GO to BW, replicate rhe data sources and assign the info source ( if you are in 3.5 or under), and the system will install the content info soruce for you. Check the maping in transfer rules and activate.
INstall the ODS / Cube and assign the info source in the update rules, check the mapping and activate the update rules. Create a info package for the info surce and load data.
I suggest you go thru the documentaion in help.sap.com. This documention will help you understand the features of the objects.

  • Ballance sheet and Asset accounting in IFRS

    hello every one ,
Currently we are thinking to implement IFRS with New G/L But i wantted to know is there any changes in IFRS  Ballance Sheet than GAPP Ballance sheet ?
Similarlly want to know is there any changes need to do in Asset account ? like Derpeciation,  Asset cost etc.
Additionay what kind of changes would you suggest in G/L Configuration ?
    Thank you in Advance
    Deepak Pawar.

    Hi,
About your query on Asset accounting Asset Accounting is based on different Depreciation Areas (eg. 01, 40) which are
assigned to different ledger groups (eg. 0L, N1 etc.) reflecting accounting principles (eg. IFRS, Local GAAP). The Book Depreciation Area 01 is linked and posting to the Leading Ledger 0L (and will therefore update all ledgers). Consequently the system needs a Delta Depreciation Area (41) to track the difference between IFRS (01) and Local GAAP (40) and then only to post this differences into the ledger group N1.

  • Differences between New GL balances and Asset accounting

    Hi
We just went live at a customer with a new reporting solution in the New General ledger. We have activated document splitting on the business area (Without mandatory BA) together with the business area scenario. The customer was already live with New GL with document splitting on profit center accounting.
After activation of the BA dimension we transfered all of our assets from the business area blank into their correponding business areas. This went fine for most of our assets except for 2 assets. When changing the business area Aquisition values and acc. depreciations where moved from blank to their target BA in the General ledger view of the documents and likewise in table FAGLFLEX. However for the 2 assets in question the same postings occured but the sending BA is equal to the target BA. The result is that the asset values are moved in AA but not in the general ledger. The asset master change log shows that the BA was changed from blank to 0099 on the conversion date.
    This brings out several questions:
Why does these 2 assets behave like this while all the other 5000+ assets behave correctly?
How do we correct it  if we can't find the cause? Is there a way to adjust values separately in the GL?
We do expect this inconsistency to cause problems at year-end
    Thanks

    Hi
How did you transfer the assets from Blank BA to BA 0099?? Was it just changing in AS02??
I believe you would have taken SAP's SLo service for making changes in DOc Splitting..  So, contact SAP for the same
In GL you can rectify using ABF1 i.e. you wil be able to post an entry directly in asset recon accounts... Refer note 69925 for more details

  • What is a Business Process Expert? and Business Analyst?

In response to Sinem Dorter's very interesting and informative blog about Composite Analytics at Whirpool, I'd like to ask how people would really define what is going on there.
Are modelers of composite applications business analysts? Business process experts? Application specialists? All of the above? None of the above?
What unique skills are required to distinguish, say, a business analyst from a business process expert?
And can a business process expert be a team of people: maybe an enterprise analyst, a business process expert and an IT application specialist?
    I'm curious to read responses.
    Judy

    Hi Judy,
I agree with you. Sinems blog from Whirlpool is really interesting and well written.
Thanks a lot that you have the courage to open the first discussion in relation to her blog.
Now to your question what's the difference between a Business Process  Expert and a Business Analyst.
    <u>Definition of a Business Analyst</u>
Please find below a small  section of the Roles and Responsibility Matrix of SAP xApp Analytics . You will find it also in our OKP (Online Knowledge Product) of Analytics in Service Marketplace, alias rkt-analytics.
    - Responsible for assessing the business requirements
    - Communicate with the business users for project
      requirements
    - Act as the critical link between end users’ business
requirements and data architecture solution together
      with the Application Developer
    - Possess and provide deep knowledge of current business
scenarios such as: SAP BW Business Explorer Queries
      and SAP CRM, SRM, MIC
    - Design and develop a data access solution
    - Understand SAP Analytics models and become an expert
      on Analytics
    - Conduct Analytics workshops
    - Create and provide business requirements documentation
    - Provide content “know-how” and knowledge transfer
      documentation
    <u>Definition of a Business Process Expert</u>
Business process experts have the business knowledge and IT sway to make business process innovation happen in real time by adapting, composing, and executing end-to-end business processes using composition software tools and enterprise services.
SAP enables the business process expert to drive real-time business process innovation by providing a rich combination of industry business process and services content, and composition software tools from a proven business process platform.

Now I am interested to hear what others say!
Also I am sure there are much more questions/comments regarding Sinems blog.
Or do you have also experiences which you want to share with the BPX-Community?
Don't hesitate to use the forum for this!
    Kind regards,

  • Can any please explain the integration business process between PS and CS

    Dear Guru's
Can any please explain the integration business process between Project systems (PS) and customer service (CS).
Business Process: We do machinery Erection or commissioning, later we do provide service warranty for one year.
How we map this Business scenario in sap.
    Regards,
    Bhanu

basic steps for such a process would be
    1) Use PS functionality for your machinery erection or commisioning work. Once the physical work is completed then close porject
    2) Use CS functionality for warranty and service - set up the work as a functional location on customer site (PM/CS functionality)
    3) Use service order to manage any service calls on the object which could require billing via SD module - bill value may be zero if under warranty

  • Effective Language for Business Process Modelling in a Web Community

It's a very exciting idea of having business process definition/innovation a community driven process.
Just Imagine a stituation where somebody can innovate a process on a theoritical level which is then perfected by   business community opinion/examples for benchmarking, effectiveness, relevance etc.
The ultimate business community dream would be Finding their process in the community. Finding merits and demerits of their process. Explore for a refinement to the process. Getting a copy of their newly created process and
droping it into their IT system and the wonderful IT system upgrading itself to the new process and executing it.
The Impact of simplification would be enormous:
    Just check out the possibilities
Every businessman would be an IT user to get ideas for business and business execution
The IT Guy would be recognized as process maker
For a business entity Presentation during AGM could be extra transparent :-).
A very concrete step in this direction would be to have a language or tool which is very easy to understand and drives people for exploration.
My Wish would be a Visual web tool which defines a specific business process in the most simple form, and from there somebody can explore the enhancements to the process.
For example a simple selling process done in medicine shop is
listening the order verbally , delivering it immediately, getting cash immediately and [typing the Invoice on XL or Word or POS machines], printing it and then giving to Customer.
after selecting this business process on the tool one should be able to explore the possible process
    enhancements with known business benefits
    like
    a) offer credit facility to customer--> just a worklist to collect pending money
    b) take order now and supply later for non available medicines
    c)Start home delivery
The businessman should be able to select (1) or (2) which then becomes his new process.
This can be sent to his IT landscape which should be able to interprete it and then grow itself Ah....
    dreaming
[or atleast the model should tell the IT guy what to do!!].
The generic business Process enhancements Options are not too many and can be defined and classified
See the Options in the above mentioned business process context
    1)Automation[Create Purchase order from ]
2)Increasing depth [The above example a,b,c are for increasing depth]
3)Step simplification[In the above example instead of word using the POS Machine is simple]
4)Resource utilization[If you have a PC and don't want to buy POS Machine then type the invoice on a Word :-)]
    5)Delegation
    5)Workforce optimization {any examples :-)community driven}
7)Process optimization (How to deliver the medicine route wise)
8)Colloboration (Using courier to send medicine)
    9)Knowledge provision (giving sales/payment trends,)
The idea is so simple but making this tool highiely context(business) sensitive and intuitive is challenge.
But anyway it's not impossible to have a business process language which is effective and an IT systems for which starting point is a business process. The IT system which takes your business process and executes them
    wonderfully.
    looking forward for this future
    Anand

    Hi Dilip,
Thanks a lot for your reply.
I'm also interested to know from community what are different tools used by them for process modelling?
    What are their merits?
    1)are they easily understandabale
    2) do they come with business context
3)whether they can be used in a web comunity? Like somebody can give feedback or business case for a particular business process/step.
4)Does it drive the IT automation
5)Are there any appservers which take business model and generate/grow applications
6)How the different modelling applications should communicate?
    7)Common standards
    For example
I have used rational rose and RAD like VB they are complicated/simple enough to generate model based applications but the business representation and business context is totally missing. I would seek something with more business context or knowledgebase.
    Regards Anand

  • Re: What is a Business Process Expert?

    Hello all,
Maybe we should open the discussion a bit beyond a "Human Centric" BPX. The main theme after all IS "The Business Process". There are hundreds, possibly thousands of Business Processes depending upon whether you categorize as micro or macro processes. Any one of these either on a micro/macro level function with or without human beings and may utilize machines that assist or automate value added activities/processes which produce higher value service or products in the age old scenario [input > process > useful output & waste output].
When we talk about Expert or Expertise, we are talking about precise know-how, and narrow domain knowledge wether depth or breadth knowledge.
Referring back to a post by Luis Rincones, regarding ideas and concepts leading to BPX, automation of the business process should be the KEY focus of a BP engineer. Back in the late 80's early 90's, we referred to these BP engrs. as "Knowledge Engineers" and their principal goals were to interview "Experts" in order to extract expert knowledge (sometimes 20+ years of experience) and understand not only the flow of the process, but more importantly the RULES which govern all exceptions and variations encountered within the process, as well as "rules of thumb" in case the RULES don't apply.
This is something which if we are truly to orient our Enterprise SOA architecture towards the goals of BPX mentioned above, will require a common "Rule Based Engine", which lives across all domains of knowledge, Objects, & environments, and works together with the design & development environment for the xAPP (I like to refer to them as "Expert Applications") and thereby enable not only the integration and homogenization of input data (via the technology stack), but also integrate the application of logic via a common rule based engine. In this way, E-SOA can also be enabled on the "useful" outbound process enabling services (actions) which mediate/manage/automate the process back to prescribed operating parameters.
Of course, people can not be eliminated from the process. Lexus factory in Korea back in 2002 operated with approx. 60 or so people, 150 robots, and produced >300 units per day. People were mostly involved in QA and deviation functions.
Automating the Business Process optimizes the output:input ratio and should minimize the waste:useful output ratio. By doing so, the ROI, ROA, and operating margins are maximized and competitive advantage gains against other not so able competitors.
Any one else has a few words on this?

You raise a very important and interesting question regarding whether there is any framework for narrowing down the domain of a Business Process Expert.
There are many frameworks out there:
    http://www.bpmg.org/8omega.php
    http://www.prosci.com/tutorial-design-mod1.htm
    http://www.intel.com/technology/itj/2004/volume08issue04/art11_collaboration/p01_abstract.htm
From my experience, it is beneficial to focus on a critical "life support" process for the corporation.  Many times this can be started at the top level COO for instance, asking what is the # 1 thing which causes issues with customers, collections, services, etc..  One such item is "contract to cash" and specific sub-components of this process such as "unbilled hours" which if corrected prior to billing issuance will result in more accurate Invoices, and collections. An improvement of this nature shortens the cycle time of billing to collection, or hour entry to billing calculation, and with improved accuracy increases cash flow and lowers cost per transaction.
What you are suggesting in terms of Media expert, etc.. is more associated with Roles which are aligned with Solution Scenarios within SAP.  Business Processes may span many roles, and are critical to the application being developed.
I believe this is the purpose of BPM, but would welcome any further comments from colleagues regarding framework.
Please take a look at the following BLOG as well as Lakshmikanth does a very good job explaning the landscape:
