Business Rules column reordering

Hi
11.1.2.2
In the Business Rules selection screen, I was able to re-order the columns so the Launch button was next to the name (I find this much easier to operate).  Is there a way to make that permanent?  When I logged out it went back to how it was.
Cheers

I think my post is little misleading.
when I said workspace I meant workspace as "workspace" not when you open planning from workspace. You can rearrange columns when you are in explore mode of workspace and it remembers it.

  • User Variable Options: How can I use them in a Business Rule?

    How can I use a "User Variable" set in File / Preferences in a Business Rule? It doesn't seem to appear as an Essbase Substitution Variable or as a Global Variable of Business Rules. The only way I know how to use it is to place the dimension on the POV or Page dimension of a data form, then use a Global Variable in a run time prompt to pick the member and run a BR against it, or some function of it.
    What do I do if I want to have that dimension in Columns or Rows? How can I set a BR to directly reference the member chosen under User Variable Options?

    Thanks Alp, but I can't seem to reproduce what you are writing below. I want to refer my Business Rule to address the value set in File / Preferences / User Variable Options; no matter what members I show elsewhere in the data form.
    My other workaround is through a run time prompt and hope the user selects the appropriate user variable at the very bottom of the selection list in order to calculate the appropriate list of members.

  • Dynamic filename in Business Rules

    Hi,
    I would like to use the DataExport command in my business rules to extract level-0 data in a file as a reference for user. I would need to extract data only for Entities that a user has access to (I figured that I could use parameters, link the rule to a Planning form and use "members" on form).
    My problem is that I would need a different filename for each execution. Something like :
    ..\userABC_20090513_100350_BV_SBQ.txt
    ..\userDEF_20090513_100430_BV_SLVQ.txt
    Is there a way, in business rules, to find the following info ?
    - the user who is currently running the rule.
    - the current date.
    - the current time.
    If not, is there a way to include a shell in a business rule. I have a small .exe that return the date or time as an "errorlevel" code that I could use if I can call a shell in the rule.
    Finally, a theorical question : is there an other way to ensure that only the user who run the rule can access the generated file (always while using business rules) ?
    Thanks

    First, in a well designed data model, I'm not sure I see the need for data validation logic to change regularly. If a particular column cannot be NULL today, it would be rather unlikely that it would somehow need to be NULL tomorrow.
    Second, I'm not sure I see what this approach buys you over the much simpler approach of adding and removing check constraints if the data model changes. Adding and removing a constraint is pretty trivial-- orders of magnitude less difficult than doing the analysis to determine what constraint needs to change and what impact that has downstream.
    Third, I would suspect that if you need to encode these sorts of constrains in a table, your system will kill downstream systems with regularity. If p1 is NOT NULL today, but tomorrow it suddenly allows NULL values, a consumer application might well break (or worse, silently return incorrect results). Data changes should not be able to screw up downstream systems.
    Fourth, if you did build such a system, you would have to build your own constraint validator, rather than being able to rely on Oracle's (unless you wrote code to create and drop Oracle constraints based on values in a table, but that seems rather convoluted). Given that Oracle's constraint validation engine is highly optimmized and highly accurate, a home grown engine isn't going to look particularly good in comparison.

    I've had this issue with a different string function. Business Rules does not like the boolean parameters (@_FALSE) used in these CDF's. I had a similar issue and had to rewrite my CDF without the parameters. You basically need to hardcode the "with quotes" and "with decimals" parameters in the java code.
    Hope this helps,

  • SOA Suite Business Rules: Error caching the Decision Services metadata

    hi ofm users
    im currentntly trying
    SOA Suite 11.1.1.1.0
    on Oracle XE
    on Windows XP Pro
    what im trying is a simple use case of business rule component,
    my service is getWorkStatusByDay, that i implement using
    business rules component using decision table.
    my rule model is (conceptually):
    Day{
         String id;
         String code;//mon,tue,wed,...,sat,sun
    WorkStatus{
         String id;
         String code;//holiday, work
    WorkStatus getWorkStatusByDay(Day):
    is rule service that decides WorkStatus code by Day code,
    eg:
    if Day.code=mon,tue,wed,...,fri then we got WorkStatus.code=work
    if Day.code=sat,sun then we got WorkStatus.code=holiday
    i've successfully created the composite project, using
    rule component, mediator, and exposed it as a webservice
    compiled and deployed ok.
    but when i try to run the service using soapUI WS tester,
    i'm getting error in the console, see stacktrace below.
    im able to reproduce the error by deploying the project
    to another computer with a same spec as above.
    So is there any solution to this ? how to fix this issue,
    as this is a very basic sample scenario.
    Any information will be appreciated,
    as im looking forward to evaluating Oracle Business for a client project :)

  • Solving "COMMIT business rules" on the database server

    Headstart Oracle Designer related white paper
    "CDM RuleFrame Overview: 6 Reasons to get Framed"
    (at //otn.oracle.com/products/headstart/content.html) says:
    "For a number of business rules it is not possible to implement these in the server
    using traditional check constraints and database triggers. Below you can find two examples:
    Example rule 1: An Order must have at least one Order Line ..."
    But, one method exists that allows solving "COMMIT rules" completely on the database level.
    That method consists of the possibility of delaying the checking of the declarative constraints (NOT NULL, Primary Key, Unique Key, Foreign Key, Check Constraints) until the commit
    (that method was introduced first in the version 8.0.).
    E.g. we add the field "num_emps" to the DEPT table, which always has the value of the number
    of the belonging EMP rows and add DEFERRED CK which uses the values from that field:
    ALTER TABLE dept ADD num_emps NUMBER DEFAULT 0 NOT NULL
    UPDATE dept
    SET num_emps = (SELECT COUNT (*) FROM emp WHERE emp.deptno = dept.deptno)
    DELETE dept WHERE num_emps = 0
    ALTER TABLE dept ADD CONSTRAINT dept_num_emps_ck CHECK (num_emps > 0) INITIALLY DEFERRED
    Triggers that insure the solving of the server side "COMMIT rules" are fairly simple.
    We need a packed variable that is set and reset in the EMP triggers and those value
    is read in the bur_dept trigger (of course, we could have place the variable in the package
    specification and change/read it directly, thus not needing the package body,
    but this is a "cleaner" way to do it):
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE pack IS
    PROCEDURE set_flag;
    PROCEDURE reset_flag;
    FUNCTION dml_from_emp RETURN BOOLEAN;
    END;
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY pack IS
    m_dml_from_emp BOOLEAN := FALSE;
    PROCEDURE set_flag IS
    BEGIN
    m_dml_from_emp := TRUE;
    END;
    PROCEDURE reset_flag IS
    BEGIN
    m_dml_from_emp := FALSE;
    END;
    FUNCTION dml_from_emp RETURN BOOLEAN IS
    BEGIN
    RETURN m_dml_from_emp;
    END;
    END;
    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER bir_dept
    BEFORE INSERT ON dept
    FOR EACH ROW
    BEGIN
    :NEW.num_emps := 0;
    END;
    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER bur_dept
    BEFORE UPDATE ON dept
    FOR EACH ROW
    BEGIN
    IF :OLD.deptno <> :NEW.deptno THEN
    RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR (-20001, 'Can''t change deptno in DEPT!');
    END IF;
    -- only EMP trigger can change "num_emps" column
    IF NOT pack.dml_from_emp THEN
    :NEW.num_emps := :OLD.num_emps;
    END IF;
    END;
    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER air_emp
    AFTER INSERT ON emp
    FOR EACH ROW
    BEGIN
    pack.set_flag;
    UPDATE dept
    SET num_emps = num_emps + 1
    WHERE deptno = :NEW.deptno;
    pack.reset_flag;
    END;
    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER aur_emp
    AFTER UPDATE ON emp
    FOR EACH ROW
    BEGIN
    IF NVL (:OLD.deptno, 0) <> NVL (:NEW.deptno, 0) THEN
    pack.set_flag;
    UPDATE dept
    SET num_emps = num_emps - 1
    WHERE deptno = :OLD.deptno;
    UPDATE dept
    SET num_emps = num_emps + 1
    WHERE deptno = :NEW.deptno;
    pack.reset_flag;
    END IF;
    END;
    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER adr_emp
    AFTER DELETE ON emp
    FOR EACH ROW
    BEGIN
    pack.set_flag;
    UPDATE dept
    SET num_emps = num_emps - 1
    WHERE deptno = :OLD.deptno;
    pack.reset_flag;
    END;
    If we insert a new DEPT without the belonging EMP, or delete all EMPs belonging to a certain DEPT, or move all EMPs of a certain DEPT, when the COMMIT is issued we get the following error:
    ORA-02091: transaction rolled back
    ORA-02290: check constraint (SCOTT.DEPT_NUM_EMPS_CK) violated
    Disvantage is that one "auxiliary" column is (mostly) needed for each "COMMIT rule".
    If we'd like to add another "COMMIT rule" to the DEPT table, like:
    "SUM (sal) FROM emp WHERE deptno = p_deptno must be <= p_max_dept_sal"
    we would have to add another column, like "dept_sal".
    CDM RuleFrame advantage is that it does not force us to add "auxiliary" columns.
    We must emphasize that in real life we would not write PL/SQL code directly in the database triggers, but in packages, nor would we directly use RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR.
    It is written this way in this sample only for the code clarity purpose.
    Regards
    Zlatko Sirotic

    Zlatko,
    You are right, your method is a way to implement "COMMIT rules" completely on the database level.
    As you said yourself, disadvantage is that you need an extra column for each such rule,
    while with CDM RuleFrame this is not necessary.
    A few remarks:
    - By adding an auxiliary column (like NUM_EMPS in the DEPT table) for each "COMMIT rule",
    you effectively change the type of the rule from Dynamic (depending on the type of operation)
    to a combination of Change Event (for updating NUM_EMPS) and Static (deferred check constraint on NUM_EMPS).
    - Deferred database constraints have the following disadvantages:
    When something goes wrong within the transaction, then the complete transaction is rolled back, not just the piece that went
    wrong. Therefore, it becomes more important to use appropriate commit units.
    There is no report of the exact row responsible for the violation nor are further violations either by other rows or of other
    constraints reported.
    If you use Oracle Forms as a front end application, the errors raised from deferred constraints are not handled very well.
    - CDM discourages the use of check constraints. One of the reasons is, that when all tuple rules are placed in the CAPI,
    any violations can be reported at the end of the transaction level together with all other rule violations.
    A violated check constraint would abort the transaction right away, without the possibility of reporting back other rule violations.
    So I think your tip is a good alternative if for some reason you cannot use CDM RuleFrame,
    but you'd miss out on all the other advantages of RuleFrame that are mentioned in the paper!
    kind regards, Sandra

  • Using dataexport in a business rules and define the filename with a sub var

    Hi,
    I have created a calc script to export data using DATAEXPORT, and to define the filename an essbase variable.
    Here all right
    I copy this code to a business rules to run it from a business rules, but I have a problem with the essbase variable, when I validate it, it gives me the error:
    Detail:Encountered "&FileNm" at line 28, column 26.
    Was expecting:
    My essbase variable is set to:
    "e:\Hyperion\products\Essbase\EssbaseServer\app\TMPGB\dataexportCustomerY2.txt"
    in double quote
    How anyone use in a Business rules with the command dataexport an essbase substitution variable

    Just tried:
    Script: DATAEXPORT "File" " " &Filename "#Missing";
    SubsVar: "c:\DataExtract.txt"
    it worked with no issues.

  • Business rules to  implement - BEST way -  triggers and mutating table

    I have the following table where it has Foreign Key defined on itself(self reference for parent_id column which can be null or valid site_id)

    CONSTRAINT check_valid_site foreign key(parent_site_id) references test_virtual_site(site_id)
    I have the following business rules to implement and my problem is related to their implementation
    1)     A check should be made that Site_id specified as parent_id should not be a child of any other store (parent should have its parent_id column as NULL)
    Site_id Parent_id

    3     1 =>NOT VALID 1 is a closed
    3)

    Want to set the parent_id as NULL for the child store.

    BUT for 1 and 2 I need to look at the parent specified , the parent exists in the same table BUT I can not perform the lookup from the BEFORE INSERT ROW LEVEL trigger but I want to ensure at the row level , so if the parent store is closed or parent specifed itself is a child(not permissible) I want to rollback the insert – RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR.

  • Unable to use DIMLIST property in business rules

    Hi Team,
    We have updated Account dimension with TYPELIM(10), DIMLIST(20) properties and in AUTOMATIC ADJUSTMENT DETAILS in the SOURCE ACCT when we update it with valid account ID or TYPELIM property value, it validates sucessfully.But, when we update it with Valid DIMLIST property value, it throws an error <Property Value>  value does not exists in ID,TYPELIM of Account dimension. We are able to see the DIMLIST property values in the list of available options.
    We are unable to use the DIMLIST property in other business rules and for FLOW dimension also.
    Server Details : BPC MS 7.0 SP3 patch level 2
    Appreciate if you can give your inputs on this.Please let me know if I need to provide any other information.
    Kranthi

    Hi Kranthi,
    Based on my observation the source account column specification in the Automatic Adjustment Details business rule allows only to specify a member of either account id or TYPELIM property from account dimension. Other properties not available for the selection.
    Hope this helps.

  • BUSINESS RULES FOR Vendor, Customer & PRODUCT

    Hi,
    Can any one help me to provide Business Rules(Validation Rules) of Vendor, Customer & Product domain to be considered in integrating with other technologies.
    Thanks & Best Regards,
    Giri

    Hi Joseph,
    First tell me how you want to maintain Inventory size wise?? If it is your A is Length, B is Width and C is your Height and you are not maintaining size wise stock then use Length,Width and Height which is in Item master here you can set fix values and activate same columns in document and you can change it in document. But in this case you cannot maintain size wise stock
    If you are maintaining stock size wise then you have to create new item code every time.
    You cannot use BP catalog number for this.
    Thanks

  • Creating simple Business Rules in BPEL process

    Hi,
    I have an environment consisting of SOA Suite 11g running on Weblogic Server. I'm using JDeveloper 11g for development.
    Scenario
    I have a BPEL process which starts off by polling a DB table and I then assign the input to a Recieve activity's InputVariable. I have a 'Number' column which will contain a number between 1 and 3. I then require Business Rules (BR) to be set up which read this value, and based on the number, assign a 'Name' string (which is to be the output variable from the business rules) to be used later on in BPEL process.
    Problem - I have followed the basic tutorials available in order to set up the business rules, but am getting numerous errors. Firstly, I sometimes find that my input/output variables created during setup of BR component and the XSD based on this, does not have XML Faces automatically created for it (therefore have to create it myself by clicking on the + button and doing this for each element of XSD). When I do get this working, I then double-click on my Business Rules activity in my BPEL process, only to find that the input/output variables here no longer are assignable to my BR input/output variables as I get the following error "Exception: Problem Building Schema!".
    I am not sure why this is, but suspect that my XSD (which is very simple anyway) or the setup steps I follow to define the link to my XSD, are wrong.
    I have taken the following steps so far:
    1. Create empty BPEL process
    2. Set up polling adapter to poll DB table
    3. Create Receive activity and assigned polled input to created variable
    4. Add Business Rules component to composite and set up and create dictionary here. Also set up inputs/outputs to be in form of my XSD elements.
    5. Add Business Rules component to my BPEL process and configure this to include input/output variables (*This is where error occurs*)
    6. Go back to .rules component in composite to define rule and define rule
    Upon deployment, I get many errors most of which pertain to "Unresolved XML element... make sure XML element +xxxxx+ is defined in one of WSDL's that are referenced by the deployment descriptor."
    I have only imported a simple XSD containing two elements to this project. The other XSD is the one of my polling adapter. I've not created any input/output variables for the overall BPEL process as didn't think I was required to.
    Can you please help in getting this process doing the simple activities described at the top.
    I appreciate your help.

    Hi,
    Create a project with BPEL composite
    Now drag a business rule
    Now create input variable of type ur requestelement
    and output variable of type response element
    Now in rules designer page take decision table
    and then craete a condition (inputelement.input > 1000) and in the rule select true
    now create another rule select false
    Npw create an action with assertion and select the parameterized box there
    now in designer page for first rule assign some value (say 500) and for second rule some value(100)
    Now in bpel u have to assign a value to input var of BR
    Deploy the process
    If u supply 10000 u will get 500
    if u supply 100 u will get 100
    In the same way u can do by using If-Then
    You can use facts and bucketsets according to ur requirement

  • Multiple row update; CEV business rule parameters are not refreshed

    During a multiple row update, a business rule is fired for each row.
    This change event business rule must update the value of another column in the same table (and same row).
    Unfortunately, the parameters of the BR are keeping the values of the first row that has been checked. Since my parameter p_id always keeps the same value, I always update the same row.
    Does somebody have a hint on how to solve this problem ?
    I'm using Headstart R6i and Forms6i with Oracle9i DB.
    Thanks in advance for your help,
    Denis.

    I think that's how it works. I tried that with a variable where type is Members.
    It is not showing me a prompt when i select multiple rows. However works only for first row. (even if the menu is initiated from second row).
    Multiple rows selected, variable type is members. works only for first row in selection. (in 11.1.2.2) You can try log an SR and see what Oracle has to say.

  • FRM-40207 supressed after Business Rule violation

    Situation:
    - Form based on table with column A number(1)
    - Item width in form = 2 (automatic, to enable negative sign)
    - Business rule on column: value must be > 0
    - Try saving record with column A = -2: Business Rule is violated --> error message (as expected)
    - Changing value to 22, no error, not possible to leave record/item: 'FRM-40207 Must be in range -9 to 9' is not shown
    - Trying to type 22 first time leads to the 'FRM-40207: Must be in range -9 to 9' message as expected
    - Generating the form with teh preference set QMS_DEBUG_MODULE: FRM message is also shown after violation of BR (negative value) (thus it is a Headstart problem?)
    - Setting a format mask of 9 on the field does not solve the problem, in that case 'FRM-40209 Must be of format 9' is supressed
    It looks like the rule frame/headstart code suppresses the FRM message after violation of a Business Rule,
    anybody experienced the same problem or knows a solution?
    tia
    Geert

    I think we came across the same problem as you are describing. We created a temporary workaround for our problem by creating a custom library object using both the <maximum length> and <format mask> properties. This may not be feasible if you have are having the problem with several columns of varying lengths.
