Business Rules functionality

Does anybody know about plan to include Business Rules into SAP NetWeaver?
I mean functionality like Oracle Business Rules

  • How to add Exception handling in Oracle Business rules Function

    Hello,
    We use to have good number of business rules in our application. So we need to have some functions in BR Composite.
    Can some one let me know how to handle exception in Oracle business rules exception( Regular try catch will not compile)
    is there any way please let me know.

    Why aren't you using por_custom_pkg.custom_validate_req_line to add extra validations.
    Ensure that profile POR: Enable Requisition Line Customization is set to Yes if you were to use po_custom_pkg for Requisition line validations.
    OAF calls por_custom_pkg at various points depending upon the values in Profile Options:-
    POR: Enable Req Distribution Customization
    POR: Enable Req Header Customization
    POR: Enable Requisition Line Customization

  • How to deploy Oracel Business Rule (11 TP4) from within JDeveloper?

    Hello,
    I'm testing the Oracle Business Rules functionality provided in JDeveloper 11TP4.
    Development looks nice. I'd like to test the rules, wether it be from within a Java Class or as a Web Service.
    - How can I test the Business Rule 11G in Jdev TP4?
    - How can I deploy the Business Rules to an Application Server?
    Who's got ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards Léon Smiers

    Leon,
    Try the business rules sample for TP4. It includes instructions on how to build the rule and deploy it from JDev.

    I've had this issue with a different string function. Business Rules does not like the boolean parameters (@_FALSE) used in these CDF's. I had a similar issue and had to rewrite my CDF without the parameters. You basically need to hardcode the "with quotes" and "with decimals" parameters in the java code.

  • Business Rules Error when Decision Function surfaced as WebService in BPM

    To use a BusinessRule as from a Business Rules activity,it needs to be surfaced as a WebService.
    I've run into an issue where as soon as I check that box and save, the BusinessRule in question goes into a error mode when viewed from the BPM Project Manager (which is why this question is posted here).
    The scenario is this:
    My types are defiend in XSD. There is a SimpleType - FooStepTypeType - which is a retricted xs:string, the common way top create an enumeration. I import this as an XML fact, it creates a Enum bucketset, which is perfect. I create a decision function - DecisionFunction1 - which has an input parameter of this type and a boolean output. I set up a simple decision table to use the input and assert the output. The editor is happy.
    At this point, I can't use the DF in my process, as it's not exposed a service, and won't be selectable via the the Properties/Implementation of a Business Rules activity.
    A soon as I mark the DF as a WebService and save it, an the rule disappears from the Rules section of the Business Catalog and reappears at the root of the catalog in error. In some cases it can't be edited.
    Hovering over the error file produced this error message:
    The argument ‘step’ of decision function ‘DecisionFunction1’ could not build because of ‘BPM-71517: Unable to identify the parameter QName. Cause: ‘FooStepTypeType. Action: Make sure that the decision function parameter is of XML type and exactly one XML Schema Element exists that represents the parameter’.
    My XSD previously did not contain a freestanding element of this type, but had elements defined in another complex type of this type. Adding a freestanding element didn't change anything. In fact it seems that elements are not avaialble to be imported as XMLFacts, only types.
    At this point, if the Rules editor is still open, the DF can be "unserviced" and after saving may be recoverable with a JDev restart. If not, manually removing the DF from the .rules xml file can help recover the file so that it can be edited again.
    SO: THE QUESTIONS.
    Why can't I use a simpleType as an input parameter for a DF exposed as a WebService? What is BPM-71517 asking me to do exactly? I can't find any references to it via searching. Why does eveything seem fine until I expose it?
    Addendum - using JDev 11.1.1.4.0 with BPM tools 11.1.1.4.0.5682
    Addendum2 - upgraded to 11.1.1.5.0 and the problem is still there.....
    TIA,
    Bill

    Further invesitgation bears this problem out.
    Oracle support recommend wrapping the SimpleType in a ComplexType. This does work, but now I have an extra wrapper element to deal with. I either have to use the wrapped type in my other complex, composed Types and/or add an external wrapping element when trying to create Business Services in BPM to call the BusinessRules I've created.
    This is a bit messy.
    To be clear, this does not seem to be an issue with Business Rules; the BR editor and generation of Facts (including simple restricted types -> JAXB 2.0/Java Enumerations) seems to work correctly. There seems to be an issue exposing DFs as Services. The code which generated the WSDL and its supporting types seems to choke on restricted SimpleTypes.
    As a side note, it seems that HumanTasks have a similar limitation

  • T-SQL functions & business rules

    Why can't I use T-SQL string functions in business rules?
    For example, REPLACE(my_attribute, 'xyz', '_')
    from Moscow with money

    The business rules is running under the account which is configured in web.config, which is likely an admin of the database.
    Expose T-SQL could cause of security issues.
    We are considering to support some limited TSQL or maybe store procedure or function in next release.

  • Oracle Business Rules Custom Functions

    Hi,
    I have an input fact with attributes A,B,C & D and an output fact with E, C & D. (C & D attributes are common in both facts)
    Whenever the rule matches, we are asserting new output fact by assigning a constant value to attribute 'E' and also the transactional values to C & D using input fact's C & D attributes.
    This way, we are making sure to return the response with matched transactional values.
    But we would like to do this by writing a custom function so that user need not assign this mapping manually whenever any new rule creates. User just assigns the constant value to attribute E but values to C & D attributes should be assigned automatically.
    Please let me know your suggestions on this.

  • Business Rule:Usage of @ISMBR with User Prompts/ Variables+Loop Function

    Hi,
    currently facing a business rule user prompt - if-selection issue - not sure, if it's simply a bug or other ways how to solve it:
    depending on runtimeprompt [RTP_VERSIONS], either the 1st or 2nd part of the rule should get executed using a loop command.
    The special thing is, that you can choose several versions simultaniously in runtimeprompt : as soon, as Data Input is part of the selection, the 1st part of the if-section should apply and the 2nd loop executed (and other way round)
    this works if I select 1 Member in the user prompt, but does not work, if I select several members.
    according to the manual, @ismbr function is "true", if already 1 member is matching !
    I experiemented in addition to @ismbr with @list and @range and also with additional == "Data Input"
    any idea, which other command should apply ? any experience, if using user-variables with several member selections in if-sections is a problem ?
    of course I could simply create separate businessrules or restrict runtimeprompt to 1 value/ version - but inconvenient.
    we are on system 9.3

    I think he is saying he does want to allow the user to select more than one member.
    You mention you are using @ismbr and @list. I would say that should be the one that would work.
    For example if you wanted Version1 and Version2 and you hardcoded it. It would look like this
    If (@ismbr(@list(Version1,Version2))
    So using your Variable I expect you wrote it like this
    if (@ismbr(@list(variable)) and that it didn't work.
    @range is useful as it is cross dimensional and that isn't the case here. So if @list doesn't work than this is a bug/problem for your specific situation and will have to approach it differently.

  • Get cell value in Planning Data form and using it in a business rule

    Hi Everybody,
    if i set the data type of an Account Member as text, is there a way to get the value inserted by the user in a dataform, turning it as dimensional member and using it in a business rule?
    So, if the user insert the value "USA" in a cell, can i use any functions to tell essbase that "USA" is a dimensional member and then using it in a business rule, for example in a cross-dimension like Period1->FY12->USA?
    I tried to use the function @Member and it doesn't work, but i'm wondering if there is a way that can let me get the value inserted and use it just like a dimensional member. What are the ways that can let user input value that can be used in a business rule? I think one is by using SmartList, is there any other ways? Maybe using variables?? As an alternative i tried to use Prompt Variable but there are too many members on which the rule must run.
    Please help me, i wanna know if i can or not let the user input the member on which the rule must run...
    Thank all guys
    Bye
    Maurizio

    Thanks EW for your answer,
    YesI could use SmartList even if i think it's very tough to handle. My experience on using SmartList in caclc script is not so good. I try to enter in details of my requirement:
    I have 500 account members.
    For each one, I have to calculate the monthly budget by sharing the amount among the months. The user wants to calculate it on the basis of the actual flow(over the months) of an unspecified account of the prior year. The unspecified account must be inserted in a data form.
    So, i could use a Smart List but it colud be of 500 elements and then i should make a rule with as many IF as how many are the accounts. Or im wrong? The only way to use smart list dynamically in a business rule is by referring its values in a IF condition. Or i'm wrong.
    I tried to use execution variable ma it seems don't work. In this case the user must pay attention to write the account correctly, otherwise as you say the rule doesn't work.
    The value in PD0A020 is "PD0A000" (that is a dimensional member). The value in PD0A000 is "hello". In PD0A040 the rule returns "PD0A000" and not "hello" as i would. The function @Member appears to be not able to catch the dimensional member by the value in PD0A000.
    {Example}="test"->"Input"->"Scenario_test"->"FY12"->"PD0A020";
    Fix("test1","Input","Scenario_test","FY12")
    "PD0A040"=@Member({Example});
    endfix
    So, my doubt is: is it possible for Essbase/Planning to use the value inserted in a data form and to turn it in a dimensional member? What are the practicable ways to let the user input/choose the member on which makes the rule run?
    Thank you Ew, thank you guys

  • User Variable Options: How can I use them in a Business Rule?

    How can I use a "User Variable" set in File / Preferences in a Business Rule? It doesn't seem to appear as an Essbase Substitution Variable or as a Global Variable of Business Rules. The only way I know how to use it is to place the dimension on the POV or Page dimension of a data form, then use a Global Variable in a run time prompt to pick the member and run a BR against it, or some function of it.
    What do I do if I want to have that dimension in Columns or Rows? How can I set a BR to directly reference the member chosen under User Variable Options?
    J

    Thanks Alp, but I can't seem to reproduce what you are writing below. I want to refer my Business Rule to address the value set in File / Preferences / User Variable Options; no matter what members I show elsewhere in the data form.
    My other workaround is through a run time prompt and hope the user selects the appropriate user variable at the very bottom of the selection list in order to calculate the appropriate list of members.

  • How to get rid of Business Rule in JhsModel: JHS-00128 Allowable Values req

    JHeadstart 10.1.3.2
    We are using FlexItems in our application.
    The JhsModel implementation, shipped in Jar file jhsadfrt-10.1.3.jar, contains the underlying ADF BC objects for the FlexItem functionality.
    When we try to create (or remove) a FlexItemDefinition of type Dropdown List, we are stopped by the error: JHS-00128: Allowable Values are required for this Item Display Type.
    We do not want that - we have a UID that does not allow editing of master and details on the same page. Therefore, we will never be able to successfully create a dropdown list item since we cannot in the same transaction create the allowable values as well.
    How could we disable this business rule - or remove it altogether? I suppose it is implemented somewhere in the jar file that contains the JhsModel project. What is the recommended way of disabling this constraint?
    thanks for your help
    Lucas

    Hi Lucas,
    This error is raised if the number of allowable values is zero and the allowable values query of the flexitemdefinitions entity is 'empty'. You could write a (temporary) dummy allowable values query in the flexitemdefinitions entity in order to save the master, and then once you've input the allowable values in the details page, remove or reset the value in the allowable values query attribute of the flexitemdefinitions entity.
    Hope this helps,
    Regards,
    Ibrahim

  • Using a local Array in a Business Rule

    Newbie question here...
    I am writing a business rule that applies a standard rate to a lot of different lines in a business rule. This rate only varies by year, so from a logical perspective I think of it as a 1 dimensional variable. However the rate is actually stored in my normal Essbase cube (8-dimensions) something like the following:
    Dimension Dimension Member
    Account: Rate
    Dim2: No Dim2 Value (A dimension member called "No dim2 Value")
    Dim3: No Dim 3 Value
    Dim4: No Dim4 Value
    Dim5: No Dim5 Value
    Dim6: No Dim6 Value
    Dim7: No Dim7 Value
    Year: [varies by year]
    So right now my formula to calculate things looks something like the following:
    "Target Account 1" = "Driver Account 1" * Rate ->
    "No Dim2 Value" ->
    "No Dim3 Value" ->
    "No Dim3 Value" ->
    "No Dim5 Value" ->
    "No Dim6 Value" ->
    "No Dim7 Value"
    But I have to do this for several "Target" and "Driver" Accounts in the rule, which means an ugly looking rule. What I would like to do is create a local array at the beginning of my business rule and populate it with the rate:
    ARRAY _rate[Year]
    and then set the value of the array equal to
    Rate -> "No Dim2 Value" -> "No Dim3 Value" -> "No Dim3 Value" ->
    "No Dim5 Value" -> "No Dim6 Value" -> "No Dim7 Value"
    This will allow me to simplify my formula down to
    "Target Account 1" = "Driver Account 1" * _rate
    My first question is "can I do this?" I've been able to create an array and use it in the formula, but I can't figure out how to populate the values in the array from my main Essbase cube.
    The second question is "does it make sense to do this?" In addition to making the code easier to read, my guess is that populating the array once and just using it within the scope of the rule would be a bit more efficient than referencing that big cross dim expression, but I really don't know.
    Any advice anyone has would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    -Glenn

    I am familiar with what you are trying to accomplish.
    Having Essbase store a fixed rate over time to be used in calculations is possible. However formulas start to look complex depending on how many dimensions you have and what the desired outcome is.
    There are alternate techniques to the one you mentioned.
    You can create a new database for rates only and make it with fewer dimensions. Then use the @XREF function to retrieve it in your formulas.
    If the rate doesn't change very often you can put the Rate inside of the formula as is.
    For example Y2006_Rate = 5%.

  • Request for the business rule solution to my requirement in SOA suite PS5

    Hello Experts,
    Could anyone please help me with an easy solution to build the business rule solution to my requirement in SOA suite 11.1.1.6.0?
    When I get the Input (Request), I need to get the output (Response) as below
    Request                     Response
    Brand1           ->           XYZ
    Brand2           ->           MNO
    Brand1 & Brand2      ->           PQR
    I created a bucket set with Brand1, Brand2 and linked to the input value. I build the rule set and I got rules at conditions tab like R1 - Brand1, R2 - Brand2 and R3 - Brand1, Brand2. when i tried to add action on this rule at R1, i got conflict with R3. same is the case with R2 also.
    Can anyone please let me know how can I resolve this?
    Thanks

    The first one is answered by Arghadip. Regarding the second one, what do you mean by incorporate (or what other term do you mean?). You want a batch program in your workflow? Why do you need a batch program? You can create an event when a person is fired (just like when he is hired) and wait for this event in the workflow. So no need to create a batch program (which would use basically the same solution, an event).

  • Sequence will not validate with run time prompts in business rules

    I am in Hyperion Planning v 1.1.1.3, with Workforce initialized. I am creating a sequence of business rules. The rules use run time prompts within them and validate when used on their own. However, when I insert them in a sequence the sequence will not validate, apparently due to the run time prompts.
    The sequence returns the error: Cannot calculate. Essbase Error(1200323): Error parsing formula for [FIX STATEMENT] (line 7): expression expected after [(].
    Line 7 in the business rule is as follows:
    FIX ([rtpYear],[rtpScenario],[rtpVer],[rtpCC],[rtpBU],[rtpEmp])
    The problem is not isolated to this business rule, it occurs with any rule I try.
    Can sequences function with run time prompts in the included business rules?
    Stephen

    I have figured out that if any rtp is hidden in the business rule, the sequence will not validate. Is this expected behavior for sequences?
    Additionally, hiding the variables in the sequence has no effect if the variables are not hidden in the rule. When launched from a menu in a web form, the user is prompted for values for all variables (except for the Execution Database Name) although they are prepopulated based on the members in the POV, Page, etc. Is this also expected behavior?
    I also find that it won't validate if "Merge launch variables" is selected (I have included rules associated with different plan types and with different dimensionality, so this may be expected). The user is prompted to provide values for every variable in each rule in the sequence, many of them duplicates (though, again, they are prepopulated based on members in the form).
