Business Scenario ( Mix of MTO & MTS) how to configure

Hi,
Our customer has a business scenario , which uses a combination of make against order and make to stock. In its case 90% of production is against make to order and 10% is against make to stock.
Its requirements are that in case of make to Order scenario it should be able to know which production orders have been created against a particular sales order and the manufacturing variance at the time of order settlement should flow to COPA under specific sales order.
In case of rest of 10% production it should have the flexibility of producing material as made to stock.
How to fulfill the above requirements , pls provide details answers , helpful answers will be awarded points.
Regards
Milind Nair

Hii Milind,
What you can do is to check your consumptions of orders. In order to that you can select either single strategy or more than one strategies. As I saw that you receive your sales order for 90% sales, then you can choose different strategy and for purely make to stock for your 10% of sale, you can choose different strategy. • Mix Planning (MTO + MTS)

    Hi...
I have Stock of One raw material (Trading Material) of Quantity 10.
Now i created Sales order for Quantity of 50 qty...Now my requirement is that after MRP run, system should consider the the available stock (10 nos.) also after generating requirement PR of qnty 40 should have reference of Sales Order,Customer Specific PR.
How to map this , which strategy i have to use for this material, as it mix of Make to Order & Make To Stock kind of Scenario.
    Expecting Positive reply Soon

I'm afraid you are waiting for positive reply for vain.
As per my best knowledge there's no mix MTS / MTO scenario in SAP. Whether you use MTO or MTS but you cannot mix them.
You can maintain two planning strategies for your planning strategy group (that is assigned to your material in MRP3 view of material master) and use one of them in the SOs according to your wish...
SPRO > Production > Production Planning > Demand Management > PIR > Plannng Strategy > Define Strategy Group (V_T461P) - you can give a main startegy and some alternatives for the same strategy group...
...but even though you define one MTO and one MTS strategy for your strategy group MRP will consider MTO SO as MTO SO and MTS PIRs as MTS PIRs. I mean you cannot consider normal (not-assigned stock) for MTO SOs (for which MRP plans in the SO special stock segment). And you cannot create PR with SO reference by MRP for MTS requirements.
Strategy 40 is mix of MTS and MTO (you can consider SOs) but it also can't fulfill your requirements.
    Just my opinion...

  • Mix of mto & mts

fert "A" material needs roh "X,Y,Z" (3 different roh materials) to make it. pls note that x,y,z all 3 were roh materials. "x" will be procured before receiving the sales order based on forecast of material A. where as Y,Z upon receiving the sales order only. pls advise which strategy need to assgn for A,X,Y,Z Materials.

    Hi,
    A - Fert
    X,Y,Z - Roh's
    Use strategy 20 or 50 for A
Strategy 20: MTO, when you want to start procurement of components and production after receiving sale order.
Strategy 50: MTO production with out final assembly, here procurement of components is based on planned independent requirements planned at finished product level and here upto certain level or one level below final assembly is produced and after receiving the sale order only system will allow us to convert the planned order of the fert material into production order.
Planning strategys are maintained at Finished product level and for components not required.
so better you can use strategy 50 for A.

  • How to configure "document class"

    Dear all,
In Change management function, we can add document (doc/xls/ppt/txt.. etc) in business transaction.  And, in property of the document, there is a "Document Class" items, which is usually "Document for business transaction".
Does anyone know how to configure this item?  Please help.  Thanks.

No, you need to follow the rules and put the jar in the WEB-INF/lib folder.

  • GATP in MTO/MTS scenario

We have an ongoing implementation for a paper industry using GATP. Ours is basically a make-to-order(MTO) scenario. But we have some stocks (from order cancellation, rejects, etc) which we move to unrestricted stock category (that is without account assignment). So our planning strategy group contains MTO(primary) and MTS (secondary) strategy. We use reqmnt classes 046 and 049 respectively.
Reqmnt types are KEK and KSVS respectively. When we create a sales order we default the reqmnt type to KSVS so we can do a GATP check for unrestricted stock. We use basic availability check, rules-based check, and CTP.
We need solutions for the following:
    1. When we do the GATP check it always reduces the required quantity from the available unrestricted stock quantity. In some situations, we don't want to consider the stock even if it matches most of customer requirements (for plethora of reasons). Is there a way to do confirmation bypassing the stock and trigger CTP for the entire required quantity.
Example:  Unrestricted stock qty available=100, required qty=200. Instead of producing 100, is there a way to tell the system to produce 200(since we don't want to take the available stock).
    2. When we do only the basic availability check (without activating RBA), in the GATP screen when we click on the delivery proposal button, it takes us to the sales order screen and we are able to see the confirmed quantity in the schedule line. In this case when we click the check instruction button in the GATP overview screen, it shows check mode 049 and business event A as expected. But when we also activate RBA and do a GATP check from the sales order it shows the substitution list with buttons for delivery proposal. If we click on a button for delivery proposal where it shows a confirmed quantity, it doesn't show any confirmed quantity in the delivery proposal screen. Also, when we click on the check instructions for one of the substituted rows, it shows check mode 046 and business event A.
Why we are not able to do a confirmation in this case? Are we missing any setting in R/3.
We are using ECC 6.0 and SCM 5.0
    Thanks,
    Ramesh

    Tilman,
Well, it can be executed...but the results are inconsistent. RBA GATP will in some limited circumstances give deceptively reasonable results for MTO, especially with CTP.  However, it is not a comprehensive solution as pointed out by Sanjeev.  The problem lies in the subitems created in ECC.  Each subitem is account assigned to the sales order item or subitem in MTO (although it is not yet clear to me that YOUR 'MTO' orders are so configured).  When performing an atp, and during Backorder Processing, when you perform the product check, the first thing the check does is to delete any subitem and all unfirmed supply elements in APO and then run RBA GATP.  Now, the account assignment is no longer relevant for the subitem, but is changed to being relevant to the ITEM.  Product check can no longer find any firmed supply elements (such as stock, or production orders, or Purchase orders), and will either deconfirm, go to lead time, or create another planned order, depending on your settings.  This is unsatisfactory.
You also mention seeing Business Event 'A' in your scope of check.  This is typically 'not-account-assigned'.  AE is usually used for Sales order account assigned checking.  This is hard coded in SD and sent to APO during the ATP check (well, it was before ECC6, I haven't worked much on this rev yet).  If you are not getting Business Event 'AE' or 'A-something' when you do a 'scope of check', then you are only checking generic stock.
You didn't mention the strategies you are using, but KEK/046 sounds quite a bit like strat 25.  Anyhow, whichever it is, the strategy configuration in ECC should have 'Acct assign cat' set to 'E", if you want MTO.  If you are actually creating MTO requirements, I would be surprised that you didn't receive an error during your ATP check, without also having 'AE' configured in SCM under "maintain check control" and also under 'Maintain Check instructions".

  • Terms of payment - how to cover my business scenario

    Dear experts,
I am dealing with the following business scenario.
A Sales rep proposes to the client a term of payment made up od several partial amount; for example let assume 3 partial amounts.
The Rep proposes to the client a fixed date, representing the date of the first payment that the client has to do and the installments.
For instance, the client's first date of payment is 1st february and then 1st march and 1st april.
1st february is determined on the M/AM billling data set as 30 days after actual billing date
    Issue:
If the actual billing date is not equal to the planned billing date, the result is that the client has to pay the first partial amount in a  date different fronm the one agreed with the Rep.
Is there any way in SPRO in order to link the installment to other dates rather than to actual billing date? (i.e. planned billing date, custom date field)
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Kalyan,
...how to do automate start for a process in CE7.2...
Create a new message event trigger and a new service interface(WSDL) in the process composer and link the service interface to the event trigger. Now assign the event trigger to the start event of your process as message event.
On deployment, the EVENT TRIGGER you created is exposed as web service (can be verified in wsnavigator). Execute the web service to automatically start the process. You could have a web dynpro application to execute the web service on click of a button.

  • How to know the function or business scenario of certain field?

    hi experts!
What should i do when i want to know the function or business scenario of certain field but there is only the defination of this field in SAP HELP???
    eg.
What shou i do when i want to know the fuction or effact of the field "vendor" in customer master, general data, control tabpage.
In other words, i  want to know what will happened to the customer master if i entry a vendor number in the field "vendor".
The HELP is just tell me about the field "vendor"'s defination.
I've tried using SE11 to verify "where-used list" of the field "vendor", however, there is only the list but any fruther information about how it works and the business scenario it is used.
please help me, I have been  puzzled for a long time.
    thank you so much!

    Hi,
This is in fact related to functional knowledge which can be mapped via SAP, which means if you are able to visualize the scenarios in your domain then only you can understand the logic of every field in SAP... not only in the customer master. But as of now I can give you some idea about the Vendor filed in the customer master. This means this customer can act like as a vendor for your company.

  • How to map business scenarios from implementation project to template project

    Hi
We have a template project and in this we have maintained few business scenarios. And also some specific scenarions are configured in the implementation project. Now we need to make template project as Global Template and for this we need map all existing scenarios in implementation project to template project.
Please suggest how we can map from implementation project to template project.
    Thank you

    Hello,
Along with Sandeep recommendation, you can do it by several ways.It all depends on how are the current projects organized.
Did you create the template project and then rolled out the templates to the impl. project?
In case you want to update these scenarios in the Template project based on the changes you performed in te Impl. Project, you can use the Compare & Adjust functionality.
You can Copy Scenarios from one project into another by using the right click/context menu directly in the node in solar01.
If you just want to copy the structure, you could export the  Impl. project structure in solar_project_admin by using the "fill business blueprint" functionality, then adjust the structure similarly for the template project and upload.
    and so on..

    Fabricius

  • How do you differentiate business process and business scenario

how do you differentiate business process and business scenario???
    pls help

    Google says;
A <b>business scenario</b> is a description of a business problem, which enables requirements to be viewed in relation to one another in the context of the overall problem. Without such a description to serve as context, the business value of solving the problem is unclear; the relevance of potential solutions is unclear and there is a danger of the solution being based on an inadequate set of requirements. A key factor in the success of any other major project is the extent to which it is linked to business requirements, and demonstrably supporting and enabling the enterprise to achieve its business objectives. Business scenarios are an important technique to help identify and understand business needs.

  • How to migrate changed Business Scenarios from Template Project to Solution

SAP Solution Manager - How to migrate changes in Business Scenarios from Template Project to Solution?
Our Global ASAP strategy is based upon a Template Project, Implementation Project, Maintenance Project and Solution with Business Scenarios.
Changes in the Template Project for existing and new Business Sceanarios, etc. are correctly executed. Up till now we have successfully implemented our Template Project and secondly extended our Business Scenarios from 4 to 14. Our 3rd upcoming change will be changes on Business Scenarios as well. These planned changes for the Business Scenarios need to be consistent, possibly without manual intervention.
During a Proof of Concept (PoC) in our Sandbox (SXB) we have identified a possible serious problem when trying to publish these changes in Business Scenarios in the Template Project to the Solution. SAP Solution Manager (SSM) does not seem to support a scenario where Business Scenarios in the Solution can be refreshed or updated with changed Business Scenarios in the Template Project.
    We have identified 2 possibillities:
    1.     Manual project upgrade
    1.1.     Synchronize the changes for the Template Project normally;
    1.2.     Delete the changed Business Scenarios from step 1.1 in the Solution;
1.3.     Add the changed Business Scenarios from step 1.1 into the Solution.
For this scenario we foresee a big problem because all Content and Issues connected to the old Solution Business Scenarios loose their coupling with the Solution.
For the Content this may not be a real problem because the Content is also available in the Template Project.
However the Issues are loosely coupled to the Solution Scenarios and therefore need to be coupled manually to these processes.
    2.     Manual changes using Maintenance Project
    2.1.     Synchronize the changes for the Template Project normally;
2.2.     Publish all changes from step 2.1 in the Template Project
    2.3.     Add all new Content from step 2.1 to the structure of the Maintenance Project;
2.4.     Relocate Content and Issues when the Business Scenario has been relocated.
Because SSM does not support this activity we need to delete this Business Scenario first and secondly re-create it again on the correct spot.
Our question: How has SAP done this in other customer projects?
We need to have a working solution by the end of March, 2009.
    Best regards,
    Peter Hendriksen

    Peter,
Did you get an anwer to this question from SAP?

  • How to connect steps in business scenario

    Hello,
After creating a project in Solution Manager, creating a business scenario in that project and creating a custom business process in my scenario, Iu2019ve defined the necessary steps that I want in my process. These steps involve 2 different logical components, a component specified for a SAP XI/PI system and a logical component for SAP ECC system.
The business process will involve interaction between the two logical components where Idocs will be exchanged. My first issue is, in transaction SOLAR01 when I click the tab Graphic, Iu2019m able to see the two separate components each with their steps but with no connection or relation between them or with any step order.  Where can I define the order and flow for the steps in the business process? After defining the flow, will the connections be presented in the graphic?
One other question, if this business process involve interfaces, should I define this as a business scenario or as an Interface Scenario? What is the main difference between these two objects? Canu2019t I have only business scenarios and define the steps as interfaces?
    Thank your for the attention.
    Best regards,
    Goncalo Mouro Vaz

    Hello,
please be aware that only business process maintained in the operations part of SAP Solution Manager. i.e. the Solution Directory, are available for Business Process Monitoring. Processes defined within SOLAR01 are in the project part and hence not directly available for monitoring. But those processes can be copied into the Solution Directory.
For BPMon only "Business Scenraios" are of interest. "Interface Scenarios" need not be maintained but can be used for additional documentation purposes.
Please refer to http://service.sap.com/bpm > Media Library > Technical Information > Setup for Interface Monitoring.pdf
