I keep trying to put a background image into my div but it always closes out when I try to pick an image from the browse button and then I get the spinning colored wheel of death. I've tried it on the CSS Designer Properties section and in the Properties Box on the bottom of the layout.

• Loading local images into HTML component

I need to intermix text and images for a project I'm working
on, and using htmlText seems the best way to do it. However, I
can't get it to work when the images are loaded from the local file
system.
It seems to work fine with remote images:
<mx:HTML x="480" y="191" width="256" height="315">
<mx:htmlText>

Image:

</mx:htmlText>
</mx:HTML>
But not with local images:
<mx:HTML x="480" y="191" width="256" height="315">
<mx:htmlText>

Image:

</mx:htmlText>
</mx:HTML>
Anybody have any ideas or workarounds?

• GetURL isn't working when flash button is embedded into HTML

I'm making a basic HTML site with flash buttons that direct to hyperlinks.
I've made a simple flash button with the code on the button actions as:
on (release) {
getURL("http://www.google.com","_blank");
The button works great when I export it in Flash.
When i embed into the HTML using dreamweaver and preview/upload the site.... the button is there but when clicked it doesn't direct to the hyperlink.
ANy ideas? Thanks. Brendan.

Use Flash to generate an html page and test that on the server. If that works, then replace whatever Dreamweaver did with the Flash-made embedding code. Beyond that, a link to the file on the server could shed some light.

What I tend to do is just link all the images normally so you can see what's going on.

Then when I'm happy with the final design I'll go through the code and change the paths to the images so they are absolutely linked.

Upload your images to the server in the 'images' folder.

• Can you place an image in a div tag and then add type over top of it?

I told someone in class lastweek that I wanted to be able to
place type over an image. They said you can just add the image into
the div tag as a background image, which will allow you to then
type over it if you like. How is this done? I have tried and
failed. I have an image that is 200x590 going down the left side of
my page. I want to run type over it, and keep the image consistent
on every page, but change the header and type. I've seen this in
several sites. How do you do this with the div tag box model method
of building a page. Can I insert an image into the div and then run
type over it. What does the code look like?

Here's an example of using a css and a background image to a

• What is the Proper Way to place a Background Image inside a Div?

I have been searching Google and the Adobe forums for awhile now, and while there are very valid solutions to similar problems I found that none of them fixed the problem that I am facing. I blame myself and getting lost in this sloppy coding of mine, so part of my plan was to start my style sheet over from scratch.
My question, what is the proper way to add a background image into a div? I currently have the top div following the "header" css style, here is what I have typed into that sections:

Content Goes Here

Content Goes Here

That above is parts I added into the source code.

olafgarten212 wrote:

No you can't. An image file is an image file while HTML file is simply a text file that can be read and edited with any text editor. Image files can't be edited in the normal way without the use of special programs like Photoshop, fireworks, and other free ones that can be downloaded.
However, as your question is vague as pointed out by Nancy O, I would hazard to guess that you want to save a webpage that can be viewed off-line. If this is the case then I suggest use Internet Explorer to save the page as .mht file. This will allow you to have a complete page including images and style sheets all in one file.
The file is saved as: File >> save as >> "myfile.mht"
The saved file is a single web archive, single file that can also be edited in Microsoft Word.
Good luck.

• Correlating image size with DIV size

Dreamweaver gives me the option called Draw AP DIV.
(I am guessing this means to define the boundaries of an absolutely positioned Div)
When inserting an image into a DIV that is created in this manner, is there a way to constrain the size of the image
to equal the boundaries of the drawn DIV?

• Inserting an image into Clearbox with html code

Hi guys,
I am using Clearbox to make pop up boxes so I can use text and images in it and I am editing them with html code.
This is the code that I have (default for clearbox html)

This code works fine, but I also want to add an image to it.

Can anyone tell me how I would add the above together. Just inserting it into the code does not work, and I have also tried replacing the

Whenever I deploy Fancybox on a page, I usually throw "the whole enchilada", to use a food analogy, in there:
I link to every possible script from Fancybox just in case I'll need it.

closeEffect : 'none',
prevEffect : 'none',
nextEffect : 'none',
arrows : false,
helpers : {
media : {},
buttons : {}
*  Open manually
$("#fancybox-manual-a").click(function() {
$.fancybox.open('1_b.jpg');
$("#fancybox-manual-b").click(function() {
$.fancybox.open({
href : 'iframe.html',
type : 'iframe',
padding : 5
$("#fancybox-manual-c").click(function() {
$.fancybox.open([
href : '1_b.jpg',
title : 'My title'
href : '2_b.jpg',
title : '2nd title'
href : '3_b.jpg'
helpers : {
thumbs : {
width: 75,
height: 50
Copy that block of code and save it into a js file with the name "fancybox_definitions" in the fancybox/lib folder.
Then add the other "calls" to Fancybox files to your header. It should work from there.

• Why can't I drag an image or html file into a browser window with Firefox 17

to get a quick view of various images or html files, I like simply dragging the files from my local drive into a Firefox browser window.
since upgrading to FF 17, I can no longer do that. a NO symbol comes up when attempting this. and Dreamweaver will no longer preview with Firefox, even though it's my designated, preferred browser.
anybody know if both of these are some setting or something?

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

• Converting an Image into a Button

Hello all,
I'm a very new user to Adobe Flash, and am trying to figure out some of the small things. I was wondering if anyone could help me out with how to convert an image into a button (with a URL).
Thank you!
Dave

Let's say you created a button symbol. The first thing you need to do to make it useful code-wise is to assign it a unique instance name. So you drag a copy of it out to the stage from the library, and while it's still selected, you enter that unique instance name for it in the Properties panel... let's say you name it "btn1"
In AS3, to make a button work with code, you need to add an event listener and event hamdler function for it. You might need to add a few (for different events, like rollover, rollout, clicking it, but for now we'll just say you want to be able to click it to get a web page to open. In the timeline that holds that button, in a separate actions layer that you create, in a frame numbered the same as where that button exists, you would add the event listener:
btn1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, btn1Click);
The name of the unique function for processing the clicking of that button is specified at the end of the event listener assignment, so now you just have to write that function out:
function btn1Click(evt:MouseEvent):void {
var url:String = "http://www.awebsite.com/awebpage.html";
var req:URLRequest = new URLRequest(url);
navigateToURL(req);

• Need Help Putting a Flash Widget into an Image Being Exported into HTML

Hi, I'm making a banner for the top of my band's MySpace. I only got into making layouts and such because we didn't want to spend the money on hiring a professional, so I'm kind of new to this and I don't know if anyone can help but what I'm trying to do is put a flash widget (for Twitter) into an image on Photoshop which I will then export into html. Can I do this on Photoshop or do I need to do it on another program. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

No, this requires you to learn HTML and create the proper embedding code and page layout.
