Button Symbol and text change.

Hi,
I have a button symbol with an Instance name of myButton that
has a text field in it. The text field is dynamic and an Instance
name of myText.
I'm trying to change the text from a class I've created like
so...
myButton.myText.text = "Changed Text";
I'm getting this...
1119: Access of possibly undefined property myText through a
reference with static type flash.display:SimpleButton.
Can someone please tell me where I'm going wrong please.

Is the TextField added in design time - that is you placed it
using the Flash IDE? In that case you might not be able to
reference it.
Rather you need to add it in a DisplayObject container during
runtime using the various SimpleButton state properties such as
downState and upState. See the example at SimpleButton doc.

There doesn't seem to be 'symbol and text substitution' on yosemite, i.e. cannot shorten 1/2 or 1/4 as in pages 09

Has anyone found 'symbol and text substitution' on Pages 5 please? On Pages 09 you could change the style of fractions i.e. 1/2, 1/4, 2/3 etc. Thanks

Text Substitution has moved out of the applications and into System Preferences > Keyboard Text. Fractions that are not present can be constructed from the special characters panel (Edit ▸ Special Characters…). Search on the word fraction.
If you want to roll your own, then choose the gear selector in the upper left corner of the special characters toolbar, and customize list… . Choose Digits - All. Once Digits - All appears in your left category panel, select it, and then scroll down to the fraction components. These are the small numbers before and after the forward slash. Double-click to place in the With category of the Keyboard Text window.

Symbol and Text Substitution not working correctly

in „Language & Text“ I have the following symbol and text substitutions enabled, which aren’t working in Pages version 5.1.1 (iMac 2011, Yosemite 10.10.1):
„- - >“ (written without blank space between the characters) which should be substituted to „➜“.
In Safari this works, but in Pages it isn’t working.
Other substitutions work in Pages, for example:
„! ! s s“ (written without blank space between characters) is substituted to „ẞ“ in Safari and Pages.
Can somebody help me?

In Pages v5.5.1 and Yosemite 10.10.1, I can reproduce the injected space issue resulting from your Keyboard > Text substitution for „-->” to „→” . Even if you remove one of the '-', Pages will still insert the space before the right arrow in the result. This is a bug.
Fix: „..>” will produce the arrow without the injected space.

Storage place for Symbol and Text Substitution

I use Symbol and Text Substitution (Preferences - Language and Text) a lot and like to copy my
definitions to another computer.
Can anybody tell me where this information is stored?

Found it: this info is stored in a hidden file ~/Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences

I have two computers with Snow Leopard, and I've made a [large] list of substitutions on one computer. I'd really rather not spend my time manually copying them over from each computer. I've tried looking for a settings files to copy, but I can't find it. The one for words I've chosen to have OS X 'learn' is found in the 'Spelling' folder (~/Library), but I can't find substitutions.

Hit the '+' icon bottom right to add your own.
Otherwise, you should perhaps look to a 3rd party app, such as TypeIt4Me:

Symbol and Text Substitution

What applications are the Symbol and Text substitutions supposed to work in? Mine don't seem to work in any. Neither the original default ones now ones I have created myself work in a web browser, Mail, Word, etc.
Any help to get them working would be appreciated.

I just played with it a little bit before responding to this post.
MS Excel 2008 it appears that only the copyright and registered symbol worked as listed in the 'Language & Test' preference. The trademark symbol is listed as only typing 'TM' (w/o quotes), however in Excel it required the () to work. Non of the fractions worked.
In MS Word 2008 everything was the same except the fractions also worked.
I couldn't get any of the 'custom' ones to function, like type !@ and get Hello.
I then went to Textedit, and everything worked including the ones I created.
So it looks like it is hit and miss as to what will work and what won't.

Network preferences: symbol and text swapped

Hello,
On our new MacBook Pro with Mavericks the Wi-Fi symbol and Ethernet symbol are swapped with the text. After the word Wi-Fi the icon Ethernet is displayed and after the word Ethernet the icon Wi-Fi is displayed.
How can this be put in correct order ?

I was actually chatting with Apple Support about exactly this problem when I found the answer while simultaneously digging around on the Internet. This discussion at the MacRumors forum has the answer:

Because you can't have two things named the same thing, I started by naming the actual Ethernet service "cow". Then I correctly renamed "Wi-Fi", then I correctly renamed "Ethernet".
In my case, this oddity showed up after migrating data from an older Mavericks Mac. Reinstalling and even Combo updating Mavericks changed nothing regarding this situation. Simply swap the service names back!

Sometimes when i download things onto my computer it comes in as symbols and scrabble words how do i change this into plain english and prevent this from happening again?

Ibook give power button symbol and forces shut down...why?

I will be using my ibook for maybe 5mins less sometimes, and then all of a sudden the whole screen goes grey and a box with the power button symbol comes up and says that i have to forcable shut down my computer. This happens even when plugged in and its says the computer battery is fully charged.
Any clues???

Gradient and text, changes when copied

Hi, this is a CS3 document, exported in IDML for CS4.
The price has no transparency, no other effects.
When copied, the value stays the same but the visual changes. Any ideas?
This thing happen in CS5 also but not in CS3.

EDIT: if i change the first to -89 and then to -90, doesn't work. If i copy the third (that is now visually correct), the gradient stay normal.

It looks like InDesign has repositioned the gradient within the text. Think of a gradient without the text masking it, as a rectangle that fades from yellow to green. With the Gradient tool you can click and drag to define the angle and size of that rectangle. The text then masks the rectangle so only the part within the text shows. I think InDesign did not reposition the text and the gradient properly when you pasted. You can highlight the text, then switch to the Gradient tool and drag to reposition the gradient. Unfortunately there is no way to make this part of a character style or paragraph style.

Links Break and Text Changes Size-RH for Word

Whenever I open either of my Robohelp for Word projects, some
strange things happen: some (not all) links to oustide PDFs no
longer work. Also, the font size changes and sometimes the font
that should be bold is no longer bold and vice versa.
Every time I open the project I'm fixing something new that's
broken. Am I on Candid Camera?
This custom help project was created at least 7 years ago,
and I have been using it ever since. I am currently on V. 7 but
this was happening in V.5 as well.

I'm having the same issue. Does anyone know how to fix this

ComboBox and button symbol interaction

I traced back a bug that I was having to its most basic level
and was surprised that it happens with only a ComboBox component
and a button symbol... I traced it back so far that it got rid of
all of my ActionScript and was left with only these two interface
elements:
Set-up: Create a new Flash document, ActionScript 2 / Flash
8. Drag in a combobox component and add a label. Create a new
button symbol and define up, over, down and hit states and drag
this in as well...
When you try test this movie, you get strange behavior...
Give the button a few clicks to see that it is working properly.
Then, click on the combobox to open it and then go back to the
button. The button will work the first time tried, but will not
work properly with subsequent attempts. It seems that the states of
the button are getting confused after the combobox is used?

Could there be a work-around to this? Thank you in advance

I have Flash Player 9 (9,0,115,0) on my Mac, and am getting
the same behavior on Windows XP...
Perhaps try not moving the mouse between subsequent clicks
will make it more apparent... I select something from the combobox.
Then, the first click on the button works properly... but when you
release the button (and don't move the mouse) it returns to the "up
state" (not "over state"). Additional clicks don't respond with a
"down state"... it just flashes the "over state" momentarily.
It's causing me troubles because my interface asks users to
first select from a combobox to navigate and then they can click to
subsequent items with a button: next, next, next... to page through
the selection. But this strange interaction is hanging up the next
button on the second click (it never gets the down state).
Thanks for checking it out... I sure would appreciate any
thoughts on the matter...

Transporting Text Elements and Text Symbols?

Hi,
Please tell me how do we translate text symbols and text elemnts into different languages? Also how do we transport them and if we translate them in different languages then will these translations be available when we are transporting them to different servers?
