Button trigger a sound file?

I know about controller files, but I just am trying to get an audio file to play from a button instance in InDesign DPS. The audio won't play or it pulls up the Adobe Viewer panel in the app onClick. Do I need to somehow embed the file? How does iPad recognize onClick vs onRelease thanks.

You cannot trigger sound with a button. Create the artwork and place the sound file with no poster above it.

  • Use an expression to trigger a sound file?

    I have a comp with many layers. At the beginning of each layer, I want to play an AIFF file (the same one for every layer).
    Rather than adding the AIFF asset to the project over and over, is there a way to add the sound file to the comp once, and then add an expression to each layer to play that sound at the layer's in point?

    Try enabling Time Remapping on the audio layer and apply the following expression:
    > firstLayer = thisComp.layer("Medium Yellow Solid 2");
    lastLayer = thisComp.layer("Medium Yellow Solid 3");
    recentLayer = firstLayer;
    for(i = firstLayer.index; i <= lastLayer.index; i++){
    currentLayer = thisComp.layer(i);
    timeDiff = time - currentLayer.inPoint;
    if(timeDiff >= 0 && currentLayer.inPoint > recentLayer.inPoint) recentLayer = currentLayer;
    time - recentLayer.inPoint
    Substitute the names of the first and last layers you want to trigger the sound in the first two lines.
    It might be necessary to put a similar expression on the audio levels to eliminate artifacts at the beginning and end of each instance of playback, though.

  • IPhone (Cocoa Touch) Button that plays sound file on click?

    Hello.
    I am trying to create a button that, when clicked, it plays a given sound file in the app's filesystem.
    This is what I have set up thus far:
    Regular Rectangular button -> connected to NSObject Called "sounds" -> with the Event "playsound1" chosen as the event.
    I then wrote the class files, brought them into Xcode file project under classes, and now I'm staring at sound.h and sounds.m with no idea what to do next.
    I was able to create in a regular Mac OSX Cocoa, a button that plays the system beep using NSBeep. However, I don't know how to achieve this similar objective with using a given sound file in the iPhone Cocoa Touch.
    Thanks

    I have tried so many things. I'm so lost.

  • How to make all Button component instances trigger rollOver sound?

    Hello all--
    I am using the Button component (the one shipped with CS3) in
    many places in my AS3 project. I am coding in .as files, not on the
    timeline.
    I have skinned the Button to use the colors I like. Now I
    wish to "skin" it so that all instances generate a rollOver sound,
    and I'll be darned if I can figure out how.
    I know I can listen for ROLL_OVER events in each Button
    instance. But I have many many Buttons and it seems kludgy to add
    that same code to every class I have which tracks a Button. I am
    hoping there is some way I can make *all* instances of Button
    respond to rollOver the same way. I am hoping it is like
    setComponentStyle or changing the skin for the Button; I can do it
    in one place and it works everywhere.
    I guess I can listen on the Stage level for bubble-ups of
    ROLL_OVER, trap those that come from Button instances, and handle
    it from there, but stagewide listeners also seem a tad kludgy.
    Is there some elegant way to make all my Buttons
    automagically generate the same rollOver sound?
    Many thanks,
    Matthew Ford

    It's regrettable there is no reply. But in case someone comes
    across this topic, FYI I put on my main View class (to which all
    other views and GUI are childed) an
    addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER...). The MOUSE_OVER events
    bubble up to that.
    Then in the listener function I see if the event.target is
    Button. If it is, I trigger the sound.
    Curiously, the supposedly better ROLL_OVER event did not
    bubble up predictably. Sometimes it did and sometimes it did not.
    But the docs say that event is not supposed to bubble for some
    reason.
    I still think there is a better way and I'd like to hear it.
    Maybe I just need to make my own clone and adaptation of the
    Button, but I am not experienced yet with creating components
    (SWCs) and it appears that simply overriding the Button class with
    my own .as file does not work-- the rollOver functions report
    errors that they cannot be overridden.

  • Play button for sound files in the browser..?

    I wonder if there's a setting (or something) in Finder so it displays a play button for sound files the same way as it does for video files?

  • Using iDVD, I've no problem creating a slideshow, but I want to add three seperate sound files, in this case speeches I've got in iTunes. I want to create three individual buttons/sub menu to access them individually from the photos. Can anyone help

    Using iDVD I've no problem creating a slideshow, but am having problems trying to add three seperate sound files in this case three speeches that I hold in iTunes. I want to be able to access them individually and seperately from the photo slideshow. Can anyone advise if this can be done and if it can, how I go about creating the seperate menu and buttons.

    If you'd like to integrate the speeches with the slideshow, I'd do that in iMovie where you'll have more control over the timing.  Use chapter markers at the beginning of each speech so the viewer can jump to a particular speech (note that chapter markers advance the viewer to a particular spot -- the viewer keeps watching the rest of the video until the end of everything or until they use the remote's menu button).
    If you're just wanting the speeches to be on the DVD so people can listen to the speeches after seeing your slideshow, you could:
    - use iDVD or iMovie to make a "slideshow" with just 1 image matching the length of a speech.
    - create three submenus and use the speeches as menu music.  Here's a (random) video on creating submenus:

  • How can I use a sound file on one slide, which fades to another sound file on the next?

    I am trying to make a slide show that begins with a certain sound file, which then I hope to fade out to the second slide which uses a different sound file, I've followed Apple's online tutorials, but what happens is I get two sound files playing simultaneously. Also, I'd like to add sounds files to different individual slides throughout the presentation, which I want to play independently from the entire slide show's sound track. I have programmed the slides to change automatically. Is there any way I can have multiple sound files on multiple slides all playing independently, without playing over the top of the previous sound file? I imagine this is a simply task, so my apologies if this is the case. Thanks in advance for any help!
    kind regards,

    Getting sound to work right in Keynote requires a basic understanding that:
    1. Sound played during slide transitions (from one slide to the next) must be placed in the Document Inspector > Audio > Soundtrack Well - there can only be one audio file and it plays across all slides
    2. Additional sounds files can be placed on individual slides as sound objects - each object can have build-in and build-out assignments, but sound files need at least a Build-In > Start Audio (done in the Build Inspector) - each object, wether a shape, image, sound or movie can have discrete start timing such that the start of one sound object can be delayed X seconds after the previous event. This can be used to avoid overlapping starts or playing. If you know the length of each sound file object, you can adjust the start to occur after the end of a previous sound using the Build Inspector. Click on the More Options Button to display the event build-order list and click on the event to reveal how the build starts and add any delays to start there.
    3. Keynote does not have a Fade Feature - any fade-in or fade-out (sound up/sound down) of audio files must be done to the sound file using third party applications and then brought into Keynote. If you'd like to join the crowd wishing Apple might add this feature in the future, you can provide feedback to Apple here:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
    4. If you need an audio file to play across a few slides and another audio file to play across another few slides, break the presentation into seperate documents, place the audio in the soundtrack well for each document and then add a hyperlink object to connect to the next Keynote document in the series. Note: all files must be "opened" in the background and ready to play or else the next file will attempt to start but stall just when you don't need it to.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I add a sound file to my iPad app?

    I know absolutely nothing about working with sound files in Cocoa, so it would be great if I could get some advice on the following:
    -What type of file should I be using? (I used QuickTime to record the sound clip, and that made it a .mov - should I rerecord it with something else?)
    -Once I have the file ready to go, how do I get it into my xib file so the user can press a button and the app will play the sound?
    Thank you!

    You need to know how to add a framework and resources to your project, and how to wire up a button action in IB.
    I use .wav files, but only because they're compatible and common for my needs. File names are case sensitive w/iOS, so be sure they match with your code.

  • Is there a way to change the default icon for a sound file in KN2

    i have need to include dozens of sound files on each slide that will trigger as text builds. i can handle all the transitions fine but i cannot figure out how to change the standard icon for the sound file.
    i would prefer to have the text be the icon, if that is not possible to have a smaller icon for the file. as i build the page i am ending up with a huge mess, icons covering text, also there is not a intuitive way to tell which sound file is which with out click/playing each file.

    OracleBI/web/app/res/s_.../popbin/

    we modified the line width and a few other things. You'll have to modify all the pcxml files for all the chart types you want to customize.

  • How do you open/play a .wav file (music file) without play sound file .vi

    I am having big problems to create a music background for my project. I am newbie using labview and maybe my questions is not so dificult to solve (I hope so)
    I was using play sound file vi but the problem is that I dont want the music file start automatically. I wanna control the start time using a button. I tried include a sound output stop but when the app start and I add more wav files in my vi, the sound file start, then stop abruptally because the stop vi and the everything is normal. I would like to eliminate that error.
    Someone have any idea, maybe using open file or another way.

             writing of audio data starts, a header is written according
             to the desired audio file type. Reading continues until no
             more data can be read from the AudioInputStream. In this case,
             it happens if no more data can be read from the TargetDataLine.
             This happens if the TargetDataLine is stopped. Then,
             the file is closed and 'AudioSystem.write()' returns.

    Hi
    I Learned how to read a file text and Parse as StringTokenizer. But still i don't know how to read the Individual tokens into to database.
    But now i face a new Problem, i am not able to sort it out.
    i am posting my code
    import java.io.FileReader;
    import java.io.FileWriter;
    import java.io.BufferedReader;
    import java.io.PrintWriter;
    import java.io.IOException;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.util.*;
    public class CSVExample {
        public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException {
            BufferedReader inputStream = null;
            PrintWriter outputStream = null;
            try {
                inputStream = new BufferedReader(new FileReader("file.csv"));
              String text;
                 while((text=inputStream.readLine())!= null)
                    StringTokenizer st = new StringTokenizer(text);
                         if(st.hasMoreTokens())
                        System.out.println(st.nextToken());
            } finally {
                if (inputStream != null) {
                    inputStream.close();
    }Here the Problem is The file.csv has got two fields ID, NAME The content of this file is as follows
    T12,MR.RAJ KUMAR
    T13,MR.EARNEST DIES
    T14,MR.MATHEW HYDEN
    Now when i StringTokenize this File The Output printed as follows
    T12,MR.RAJ
    T13,MR.EARNEST
    T14,MR.MATHEW
    That means when it finds the Space it is not printing the Remaining Text.
    Please Help me in this and then Tell me how to INSER The Tokens into the Database Table
    Thank you for your service
    Cheers

  • How to use mp3 files on a form standard button, instead of wav-files. Need to save space.

    I would like to use mp3 files instead of Wav-files on the standard button, in the forms edit menu. I know it is possible in the interactive menu to add buttons with mp3 sound. But those buttons has not the same options and appearance as the forms buttons. We create learning books with lots of sound files in each PDF, so with wav-files the PDF gets quite heavy in Gb.

    Smokerz – Thanks for the feedback. I managed to get iTunes to find the movie files on my TC by simply dragging the icons of the files on the TC into the Movies folder in iTunes. This immediately made them available for streaming on my Apple TV. Also, I learned with great relief that, despite their large size, dragging icons of my movie files into iTunes did not copy them to the C: drive on my desktop computer. Thus, it looks as if the job is pretty much done. Thanks again for your advice.

  • Problem with playing a sound file.

    Hi,
    I simply want to play a sound by a button click. I imported
    <AVFoundation/AVAudioPlayer.h>. The code block is here:
    In .h file:
    #import <UIKit/UIKit.h>
    #import <AVFoundation/AVAudioPlayer.h>
    @interface PlaySoundViewController : UIViewController <AVAudioPlayerDelegate>
    in .m file:
    -(IBAction)btnPlay:(id)sender
        //Get the filename of the sound file:
        NSString *path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"REC001" ofType:@"MP3"];
        AVAudioPlayer* thePlayer = [[AVAudioPlayer alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL fileURLWithPath:path] error:NULL];//error here as it will compile if I commented it (and two line after) out.
        thePlayer.delegate = self;
        [thePlayer play];
    Everything looks fine but it failed when I tried to run it. Looks like it cannot find my sound file "REC001.MP3". I put it in folder ".../PlaySound/Resource Files/SoundFiles/REC001.MP3", and "PlaySound" is my project name. However the path returned is ".../PlaySound/REC001.MP3". I guess this is why it cannot find the object. But it didn't work even I put the sound file under "PlaySound" directly. Anyone has a solution?
    Thanks.

    Taizhi

    Hi Mark,
    Thanks for the reply. Based on your instruction, I checked and I can see the sound files in Build Phases. The location is ".../PlaySound/SoundFiles/REC001.MP3". I don't know why it ignores folder "Resource Files". I guess that is the way it is as I also can see other images in different folders which are shown properly in the project.
    The detailed error message is here:

  • Sound file plays automatically...

    Hello,
    Can someone please direct me on how to prevent my sound file from playing when the page it's on is loaded?
    I dragged a sound file from my finder into my keynote. It appears as an icon that looks like a speaker. It's fully functional, everything works great. However, the problem is that the audio file starts playing the moment the page is loaded.
    I want to be able to play the audio file manually after I have verbally presented the page.
    Help would be incredibly appreciated. This is my first presentation, ever, with Keynote. It's the only kink I've experienced, so far.
    Thank you so much,
    YahYah

    Select your first audio clip you want to play and then in the Inspector>Build Tab (third tab from left) under Build In>Effect, select Start Audio. Click the button on the bottom that says More Options make sure the Start Build is set to On Click (this is the default, so you shouldn't have to worry about that). Now your first clip won't start until you click.
    Then to make sure that they don't all play at once. Select your first clip again and add a Build Out that happens Automatically after build 1 to Stop Audio and set the delay so that it is the length of the clip. +This is where things can get a little tricky as you can only add a delay of 60 seconds. So if you clip is 90 seconds, you need to add a transparent shape or empty text box that you can add builds and actions to to makeup the extra 30 seconds.+ Finally select your second clip and add a Build In to Start Audio Automatically with build 2.
    If you have multiple audio clips that you want to play back to back, it may be easiest to importing them into GarageBand and making one audio clip out of them.
    Hope this helps
