BW - Alternative for # (hash/pound)sign in bex query output to Microstrategy
Hello team,
We have a requirement to display BEx report output to the reporting tool Microstrategy. They are accessing the BEx query as the source. The issue we are facing is :- when there is no value for a characteristic, it displays a # sign in the report. This is the normal behavior of SAP BW. But Microstrategy is not able to access this pound/hash symbol and they want us to display a blank space instead of # sign. I was wondering whether there is any alternative for displaying blank space instead of hash/pound sign???
Hi Jerry,
Yeah, I think that's the only way to maintain it..
OR
How do you load data to your MASTERDATA object? You can just include "SPACE" value in the EXCEL file (if your datasource is a FLATFILE) or make a "SPACE" value in the transformation level..

How to restrict the Null Values for Key Figules in the Bex Query
Hi Friends,
I want to restrict the Null values of a perticular key figure in the Bex Query Output.
I will explain in details. i have 3 key figures in my query.. let us assume.. key1 key2key3
key1 key2 key3
4 4 100.00
5 0 200.00
1 0 19.00
0 1 10.00
i don't want to see the the records for which key 2 is 0.
we have a setting in the Bex Query for restricting the Zero values in the query properties. If we enable that setting it will show
4 4 100.00
but i want the report to display..
4 4 100.00
0 1 10.00
can any body guide me. <b>i want to display the values if key2 <> 0.</b>

How to replace # or Not assigned with blank in BEx Query Output.
Hi,
While running the query through BEx Query desginer or Anlayser, I am getting # or Not assigned where there are no values.
The requirement is to "Replace # or Not assigned with a blank" in the output.
I want to know, is there any setting in BEx query desginer where we can do this. How to do this.
Please share your inputs on this. Any inputs on this would be appreciated.
Thanks,
NaveenCheck out SDN-thread: "Re: Remove 'Not assigned'" for more details
Ideas from SDN research:
"a solution i have used is to put each RKF column in a CKF colum then in each CKF use RKF + 0, the outcome is that your # should now be 0s, in the query properties you can set the option to display 0s as blank."
"try to enter a text for the blank entry in the master data maintenance of the relevant objects and set the display option for the objects to 'text'."

Modifying the text "Result" and "Overall Result" in a BEx query output
Hi,
1) Is it possible to modify the text "Result", "Overall Result" which appears in the sub-total and grand total lines of BEx query output? I do not see any related setting the properties area of the object in BEx Query designer. Do I have to write some VB code or can I do something in Customer Exits?
Also my client wants that this text need to be made dynamic such as "Sub-Total for the month of Jan 2006".
I can use work book option and change the texts manually. But this is not meeting my clients requirement.
2)Is it possible to have dynamic title text for a BEx query?
We are on BW 3.5 & if any of you could provide / guidance to the above issue.
Thanks,
VenkatramYou will have to use VB Macros to change the text "Result" and "Overall Result", there is not settings in the query designer for the same.
You can have dynamic descriptions for queries using text variables like Expense Query for month of Jan 2006, if user selected Jan 2006.
Thanks. -
Designer support for Subquery against SAP BW Bex Query
BusinessObjects designer has an option in the paramaters window to turn on "Allow Sub-Queries" in a universe that has been created using a olap source. SAP BW BEX Query to be specific. Once turned on, you can build a query and the subquery button and functionality is actually enabled and allows you to build it. When running the query I get an error message "A filter contains a wrong value. You cannot run this query".
Now, I am pretty sure this functionality is not supported on a BW or OLAP source but, I can not find anything definitive from SAP stating that it is not supoorted. So I want to make sure that this is not one of those situations where everyone just says "It's not supported" but really just doesn't know. Does anyone have the official word or link to an SAP statement that this functionality is officially not supported. What I would say is, it won't support. The reason could be, as its not support any structure view in universe designer, that means we cannot create any derived tables where we could use sql query.
I believe the same applies here too. Even if you look at LOV defintions in universe, it won't show any query.
So the same applies to reports.
Hope this helps.

How to Hide the Column Heading of BEx Query Output
Hi Experts,
I Designed BEx Query for BO Xcelsius, at the time of showing Bex Report in Xcelsius
it is displaying the like
Calday 01.01.2010 02.01.2010.............
Plant keyfigure
P1 Plan 10 9
P1 Actual 8 5
P2 Plan 12 6
P2 Actual 9 4
we need display without keyfigure - row like follwing ( when we run report on analyzer it showing without keyfigure - row,but problem is when we Run in web)
Plant Calday 01.01.2010 02.01.2010.............
P1 Plan 10 9
P1 Actual 8 5
P2 Plan 12 6
P2 Actual 9 4
Or with out Header Row
P1 Plan 10 9
P1 Actual 8 5
P2 Plan 12 6
P2 Actual 9 4
How can we achive this
In Bex query design
Rows - Plant, Key figures - Actual,Plan
Column - 0Calday
Thanks,
ChandraWe do not have any direct setting in BEx to do it. You can write a VB macro code in BEx to achieve this.

Output mismatch between BEx query output and WebI Report output
Hi All,
I have a BEx query in which there are only characteristics placed in rows.
There are combinations of the values of the characteristics giving different records in the query output.
Date is one of the characterisctics in the query output.
There is an output mismatch between the query output and the WebI report output in the following case:
When there are 'Not Assigned' or '#' or blank values, there are additional entries(rows) in the WebI report, giving repeating or wrong entries in the Date field. This is incorrect data.
Is this because of the 'Not Assigned' or '#' or blank values of the Characteristics or is there any other reason?
How do I fix this?
Please helo me with this.
Thanks and Regards,
Srilakshmi BHi Rajesh,
I need to verify the WebI report output for records with # and 'Not assigned' values for the cHracteristics in the report.
So I cannot check the WebI report by hiding the # or Not assigned values.
The problem is that in the Query output the records are like these shown below:
Char1 CHar2 CHar3 Date field
A B C Date1
#(Not assgined) #(Not assgined) #(Not assgined) No value
Where as the WebI report output is as below:
Char1 CHar2 CHar3 Date field
A B C Date1
#(Not assgined) #(Not assgined) #(Not assgined) Date1
As shown here, there are wrong/repeating entries for the Date field in the WebI report output.
Please check this and let me know what could be the issue and how do I fix it.
Thanks and Regards,

Total Line in BEX query output
Hello,
I have a requirement, where we have to show just total line in output for BEX query. We want to hide {though hide feature will not work} line items that we process. How can we do it?
Requirement goes like this:
Let say for orders, we have order requested date and actual delivered date. The query formula processes all line items for given selection and measures ontime, late and early shipments based on date in variable exit we have. At output (that is in total line)query will write have % ontime late early.
So for selection calmonth we need to show % ontime late early but for that we need to process all line items to get % calculation. So, how can I keep only total line in query output.
For example: Output should look like for selection of calmonth, plant - product or shipping point etc..
Calmonth plant - % ontime late early or
Calmonth product - % ontime late early or
Calmonth shipping point - % ontime late early
It is working in a way it shows all line items and total line at last. All I want is total line and ignore line items.
Thanks,
AjRemove the drilldowns for the "detail" characteristics that you do not want to see. The report will then display only the "totals" that you do want to see.
Hope this helps...

BEx Query Output Not Visible on the Dashboard.
Hi All,
I have a Dashboard which include 2 BEx Queries in it. When my end-user displays the Dashboard, he is able to see the result of one BEx Query and there is no result on from the second BEx Query. Both the queries are from same InfoCube and relevant authorizations have been provided to end-user.
Now, when I run the Dashboard, I am able to see both the Queries output on the Dashboard. I am sure, its must be some authorization issue, but I have provided all authorizations needed which were suggested by SAP to my end-user and the fact that they can see the result from one query and not from other confuses the things.
Would appreciate some inputs...
Thanks,
MaheshNow I did the further investigation using ST01 and guess what are checks were green..the authorization objects checked were below...
S_RFC
S_RS_COMP
S_RS_COMP1
S_RS_ICUBE
S_RS_RSTT
S_RS_XCLS
I would really appreciate some suggestions, should I open a SAP message or am I missing something...
Thanks in advance...

Delete hash value row in Bex report output
Hi All,
Can anybody suggest how can i remove hash value(not assigned) row in Bex report out put.
my report looks like this:
rows
project position
(hierarchy)
WBS element
(hierarchy)
Order
For each Project position and WBS element hierarchies, i did supress the " not assigned" tick in hiearchy attributes in RSH1.
but in colums i have budget as one of the column.
this budget comes from project position nodes to last node of WBS element but not in order, for order it will be blank but after this order a new row coming up with bold" Not assigned" with that budget amount against this not assigned.
My problem is how can i get rid of this not assinged entire row. I search so many links in SDN, they talk about just to replace the not assigned to some other value as blank or something like that.
Please suggest me how can i get rid of this.
i did tried to restrict Order with "#" but then the whole budget column getting blank.
Regards
Robyn.HI Arun,
As i mentioned earlier, i have gone through these links, they just talk about replacing # value or Not Assigned to some other value or blank.
my issue is i need to get rid of that entire row.
when i drop proj def hierarchy ,then wbs hierachy starts, sometimes at the end of wbs hierarchy i get row with #
and sometimes after wbs hierarchy ,then order row then # row is coming.
even after i tick supress unassigned nodes in both Projdef and wbs hierarchies.
i am not supposed to simply replace #( not assigned) symbol or text with some other symbol or text ( thats what they discussing in these links).
i created that macro they said in those links but its just deleting # symbol to blank not the whole row.
hope i made my issue clear.
i have seen so many other links as well

Taking display value for calculations using structures in Bex query
Hi
I am using Bex analyzer to do a simple report with two key figures Sales and Plans from cube and two more calculated key figures Abs Deviation and % error. The report displays at category and product levels. Category is higher and one category contains multiple products.
The simple formulas for the two calculated KF are,
1. Abs Deviation = Abs (Sales Plans).
Abs Deviation is set with the property Calculate result as summation to add up Abs deviations at product level to show at Category level.
2. % Error = Abs Deviation / Plan.
The issue is with the % Error value at category level. At product level, all the values are showing correctly.
To illustrate the issue with a simple test case,
CategryProductSale-PlanAbs Dev----%Error
C1--P1--100-60---40--
67%
C1--P2---50120---70--
58%
C1 Total--150180---110--
17%
Observe that in the output the calculation for %Error at product level is correct all the way. But the summary
calculation for Error% i.e. C1 total which is showing as 17% is wrong. The correct value as per the formula should be 110/180 = 61%.
SAP, through OSS replied that it is not a bug but the default behavior of OLAP calculation. OLAP processor first calculates the formula for % Error and then shows the display value at C1 total for Abs Dev. Meaning, % Error is calculated first and next the summation for Abs dev is displayed. Abs dev 110 at C1 level is only a display value but not the value taken for % Error at C1 level. Instead OLAP calculates the Abs Dev at C1 level by Total sale Total plan = 180 150 = 30 and the % Error calculation takes this 30 value in the formula and gives % Error = 30/180 * 100 = 17% at C1 level. But 17% doesn't make any sense to the user. Further, to display value of 61% at % Error at C1, it is being advised that by defining two structures, I can force the calculation to take display value of 110 in the % Error calculation at C1 level by using the cell editor.
Has any body tried to achieve similar result as above by defining two structures and cell editor in the query? If so, can you please throw some pointers of how to define two structures in a query and how to force the % Error at category level to take the display value of 110 in the calculation? I have gone through the documentaion on structures and cell editor but the approach is not at all clear.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Hello.
Iu2019ve a business requirement to monitor customer spending habit.
The report should display all customers who have spent more then $300 per month for 4 months consecutively.
Please help
Thanks in advanceHi Khaja,
Thanks for your quick response.
I've Customer and Calendar Year/Month in Rows and Amount in column. Created a condition for Amount > $300.
What I want is; whenever user runs the report; the report should show only those customers who have spend more then $300 per month for last 4 months consecutively.
My report would display:
Customer No. Calendar Year/Month Amount
What do you mean by RKF's and how would I create these?

Table for all objects in a bex query structure
Hi All,
I am looking for some table/report/t code where I can find all Char,Kf,Rkf and Ckfs along with technical name of that query.
I know there are couple of work around for this like capturing a screenshot or collect objects via transport connection and copy paste objects from there.
Basically I need a meta data repository where I can see all this information in a complete manner. I tried to dig around in some tables but they don't have all information at single place.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
VikasHey. There are a number of tables related to query elements. I would go through them and figure out which pertain to exactly what you need. You could then buold an InfoSet query (via SAP Query) to output all the information you are looking for. Here is a list of the main query tables...
Table Name Use of the table
RSZELTDIR - Directory of the reporting component elements
RSZELTTXT - Texts of reporting component elements
RSZELTXREF - Directory of query element references .
RSRREPDIR - Directory of all reports (Query GENUNIID) .
RSZCOMPDIR - Directory of reporting components.
RSZRANGE - Selection specification for an element
RSZSELECT - Selection properties of an element
RSZCOMPIC - Assignment reuseable component <-> InfoCube
RSZELTPRIO - Priorities with element collisions
RSZELTPROP - Element properties (settings)
RSZELTATTR - Attribute selection per dimension element
RSZCALC - Definition of a formula element
RSZCEL - Query Designer: Directory of Cells
RSZGLOBV - Global Variables in Reporting
RSZCHANGES - Change history of reporting components
Sorry, I know this looks messy, Cut and paste didn't work for me that great.
Thanks
