BW Authorization Preference

Hi BW Experts,
          I'm new to BW Authorizations.
My requirement is that, I want to display and change the queries in a particular Infoarea 'ZINFAR1'. And for all the other Infoareas, I should only be able to display the queries.
I would like to know whether the following authorisation method works?
I manually add the authorisation object S_RS_COMP and set the Activity value to 'Display only' and provide '*' in the InfoArea field.
After that I add the same authorisation object(S_RS_COMP) again, and set the Activity value as 'Display and Change' for the Infoarea 'ZINFAR1'.
Authorisation Object 1(S_RS_COMP)
Activity value : Display
Info Area: *
Authorisation Object 2(S_RS_COMP)
Activity Value: Display & Change
Info Area: ZINFAR1.
My question is, since I've given * in the Infoarea field(For all Infoareas) in the first authorisation object, will it override my preferences set in the second authorisation object.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Subodh,
I understand that you are trying to use command authorization using RADIUS.
aaa authorization commands 15 default group radius if-authenticated local
Command authorization is not supported in RADIUS. RADIUS does not allow users to control which commands can be executed       on a router and which cannot.
    Please refer the following link:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk59/technologies_tech_note09186a0080094e99.shtml
You need to use TACACS+ for configuring command authorization for IOS and PIX/ASA.

  • Logic 8 Deleted all my desktop files/folders.... !!!???

I just downloaded some groove templates from LogicCafe.com and ran into something quite disturbing and or interesting. So the file downloaded to my desktop... its a .lso file named MPC3000Q.lso. I double clicked it and it opens fine in L8... there are 2 packed folders with the midi regions in there for the groove templates. In the quantize drop down menu sure enough there are all the MPC Groove Templates. Here is were I ran into trouble... I hit Apple+N to open a new session... because the MPC3000Q.lso was just a test, I select the "Close and Don't Save" options. When the new session opens I'm presented with a pop up window reading *"Project MPC3000Q.lso has not been saved since it was created. Delete the created folders and files?"* So I selected delete... This deleted every file on the same level as the MPC3000Q.lso file... sooo EVERYTHING ON MY DESKTOP! I was able to recover this stuff from the trash but I was quite alarmed by this. This could potentially be a VERY BAD thing! I can repeat this every time... and played with it a bit by placing that original MPC3000Q.lso file inside its own folder... and it did what you'd expect it too (delete that folder and everything inside of it). But I'm sure everyone can see if for example if you did not have this file inside its own folder (like I didn't) and for example had this file placed inside the folder where you normally keep all you sessions (on a root level) and chose delete, it would delete everything inside that folder. Here is the bad part... even if you were aware of this and found out before emptying your trash... when you go to retrieve this stuff from the trash every file has now been taken out of its original folders and placed in one huge pool of files. The folders and sub folders disappear. So reorganizing your projects which were just mistakenly deleted would be a next to impossible task as you can see. So no real acceptable way to recover from this mistake as far as I can see. Hope I'm making sense. And I hope Apple will take a look at this soon.
Can Any of you reproduce this (take caution when trying!)? Has anyone else already experienced this? I couldn't find anything in my searches.
    Cheers!

    Hi defeq.com
Although I was not able to reproduce what happened to you - This here happened to me:
This morning I answered some guys post about Logic deleting everything in the same level as the project folder under certain circumstances. I Tried trouble shooting for him but could not recreate it.
Then this happened to me today:
When working in Logic 8 in Leopard all of a sudden it stopped communicating with my Unitor8 via USB. I restarted but the Unitor 8 Which I reset twice would NOT communicate with L8 anymore. It would remain in patch mode (red light lit though CPU is running)
I've had this erratic behavior many times since the past years on many computers so it wasn't really new. All one needs to do is reinstall the Unitor Family driver.
So I decided to do so:
I inserted my Logic Studio DVD and opened the installer and checked ONLY the Unitor family Drivers. After completed install I restarted the Mac. Everything went fine. So I booted L8. While booting I saw my hardrives on the right side of the desktop flash once. I thought that to be strange and took closer look.
Now my boot drive was missing from all the drives on the desktop and in the sidebar window...
I tried to Apple+Click on a Application in the dock. The finder opened the applications folder and showed me the app I had clicked on. But I could not navigate to the root of my System Drive even via the "path" sysmbol in the toolbar. So I hit shiftappleg and entered /Volumes/MySystemVolume - it showed my volume "Grayed Out" in the finder window...
I tried repairing the disk and permissions but nothing was wrong with my boot drive apparently besides the fact that the finder (and all other applications when wanting to open or save) could not "see" my system drive... I could launch all the apps normally that were residing on the SystemDrive in the AppFolder... So this kept getting weirder...
So I opened my favorite application Tinkertool System and went to the Tab Files and chose the underlying tab "Attributes" which shows me Macintosh HFS and Finder Attributes... I pulled my SystemDrive onto the Drop Area and discovered something VERY amazing: The Display in Finder option had mysteriously been altered to "INVISIBLE"
I changed it to Visible and there it was - My System Drive... Showing up in the finder...
I made a restart to make sure everything was OK....
After the restart the following settings had VANISHED:
    1) Pixadex = ALL ICONS (I had 230 MB) of sorted icons stored in my Application Support Folder
    2) All my Safari Book marks were gone - They were still in ~/Library/Safari - but the Bookmarks.plist was UNREADABLE even with a text editor and XML editor
    3) Numerous other applications had LOST their authorization preferences so I had to re-authorize many of my Audio Unit plug-ins...
    4) My Dock had been reset
    5) My Monitor arrangement had been reset...
    6) My date and time had been reset
    7) My energy settings had been reset.... (I had NOT zapped the P-RAM)
Since installing Leopard 2 weeks ago - I have CAREFULLY monitored ANY activity after INSTALLING anything in order to be able to troubleshoot - and this problem definitely occurred right after installing the USB Family Drivers and launching L8....
There was really NO HARM done other than the sweating that I did troubleshooting but if L8 is capable of doing what happened to this other guy loosing his whole folder and now doing this to me - where are the limits? When is someone going to get REAL hurt.
Please Apple - I am sending you this post as a BUG report as well - could you PLEASE look into this as there has to be some kind of VERY dangerous MALFUNCTION within Logic or its Installers.

Wow, I was just joking with the medication thing. I didn't actually think it was seriously a mental health issue. Sorry.
In any case, though, if he has full access to the Mac, mental health issues or no, there's not a whole lot to do about it. If it is possible to take away administrative privileges without causing a huge fuss, then you can limit his access to certain things. However, you can't mess with privileges on a Time Machine backup (doing so breaks it), and that means he's going to have access to at least parts of the backup. Which means he can trash at least some of the backup data, and if he deletes files from the TM backup using the Finder, he'll have essentially trashed the whole backup. He might as well have the ability to delete all the files on the machine if he has the power to delete backups.
Honestly, in this situation, he should either only be allowed to use an account with Parental Controls on, which may not be an option (I don't know how offended he would be at such a suggestion), or he should be using a different computer entirely and have no access at all to his wife's computer. Alternately, have his wife keep a backup that is hidden - ie, connect the backup drive periodically and then remove it and hide it so he can't mess with it. That will at least secure the backup.

  • Version 9.4.0 Preview Now Available

We are working on a major new revision of the Sophos Anti-Virus Home Edition in the near future, and we’d like to get your help with evaluating it. This software has passed all of our internal testing but its always useful to get feedback from real users.
    New features in this version:
Detection and cleanup of Potentially Unwanted Applications (adware, spyware, and certain remote access tools fall into this category)
    Updated Quarantine Manager user interface
    Faster Web Protection filtering component
    Security and stability improvements
We invite to have you download and install this “preview” update to your Mac. Start by downloading the installer here:
    http://www.sophos.com/Pages/DownloadRedirect.aspx?downloadKey=8579BC43-753D-48D0-8C74-60593FEB7097
    SHA-256 hash: a4b78abdc4cea2bc212aa1b740c3b2229316b7cdb2509e7f2a307cf1f1c36735
When you run the installer it will install version 9.4.0b1. If you have an existing installation it will upgrade your software to version 9.4.0b1.
You can then enable the detection of PUAs in the On-Access preferences panel. These applications will be blocked from running automatically. Its possible we will detect tools that you are using as part of your daily routine - if so you can “authorize” their usage from the new Quarantine Manager window. You can later undo this choice by visiting the Authorizations preferences panel. Custom scans can also detect and optionally clean up PUAs when detected. Check out the Options tab for each scan.
Things to know about this build:
It's passed all of our internal testing, including the same level of protection from malware as the existing version (9.2.7)
It's beta, and therefore you should know that its incomplete e.g. only the English user interface is available today and the documentation isn’t updated yet
This build isn’t yet ready for use with Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan, but we will be ready in the near future - watch this space for details
Your feedback is appreciated, as we’d like to uncover any lingering issues before general release.
Not happy with this version? You can download the 9.2.7 installer from our website and run it to downgrade your install. If you do, please let us know why.

    bobcook wrote:
...Curious - have you tried the PUA detection and authorization workflow? Its not precisely the same user workflow as our Windows endpoint product, so very interested to know whether we've made the right design choices.Hadn't tried it yet so I just tried it now, in a Yosemite Virtual Machine snapshot. I'd say it works quite well and the interfaces that pop up give helpful but not overwhelming information. My VM screen size is only 1600x1200 so the windows get a bit crowded, especially since the browser which makes the download connection fills a good portion of that screen, but the warning windows come forward, which is a good thing. In my case, a portion of the file had made its way to my desktop before the download was blocked (I'm using Firefox so the download screening is browser-independent) and was visible.  I tried that a second time while running a full HD scan and it seemed not to slow down at all while again catching the PUA. One wrinkle is that Firefox was still asking me what I wanted to do with the file when Sophos caught and stopped it and then deleted it; the FIrefox dialog box with the choices was still open. As a test, I switched the option from opening with TextEdit to saving the file and clicked OK. The file appeared briefly on the desktop and then disappeared, presumably caught and deleted again by Sophos, but this time around there was no further notification. Since most people save downloads to the Downloads folder, it wouldn't be immediately apparent what happened. It's possible users would worry that the inadvertent download made it through the second time without being caught, though the Sophos log shows the capture and delete worked again, just not with the notifications. The PUA intercept is definitely a valuable new feature. BTW, I managed to take a screen shot of the Activity Monitor window with the high CPU usage I'd mentioned and I'll email it to you shortly.

  • What's the best option after all?

    Hi, folks.
I finally put my hands on my Leopard UTD copy. Yeah, I know it took a lifetime. It's the price we pay for living in the 3rd. world, so, never mind...
I know this has been talked over and over, but I'd like to gather some clear ideas.
I'm aware that choosing either Upgrade, or Erase & Install or Archive & Install is a lot related to personal preferences, but which has shown itself as being less problematic? Which could be considered the ideal techinical choice?
Thanks a lot and sorry for bringing this back to surface again.
    JP

I have been using Mac for 14 years. I have not once had the same success upgrading as clean install...
I have tried it a few times but after the upgrade something weird always turned up and I wound up doing a clean install...
You will be just fine doing a clean install... All you gotta though - is to back up your stuff that you need - like what you have in your home folder and applications etc..
Most applications need installation - so you'll need to install those again---
The following folder besides your home folder contains lots of stuff that you might wanna glance at before clean installing:
MacHD/Library/Preferences - This stores system wide preferences and many apps write authorizations preferences to this folder
MacHD/Library/Application Support - Lots of apps store their belongings here - EG - Logic Audio stores it's factory library here
MacHD/Library/Audio - If you are an audio person and have installed many Audio Units or Apple Loops this is the folder to look at....
Besides that most important stuff you'll have in your home folder and this you'll backup anyway...
I know this sounds like a lot but once you have done it once it'll leave you with a better overlook at your Mac and in the future you'll be knowing what to look for...
    Good Luck

  • System Preference items randomly unlock without my authorization

Recently I noticed that the lock at the bottom of my network and sharing preferences has been unlocking without my authorization. I normally leave the preferences locked and then if I need to make any changes I unlock it. I then lock it back up after I am finished. However, about three days ago I noticed that the lock was unlocked. I tried to lock it but it would not lock so I restarted the computer and was then able to lock it. I figured that some "gremlin" was in my machine. However, last night and this morning, I noticed that the lock was again unlocked. This time I was able to lock it without a restart.
Any takers on this issue. I just want to make sure that my computer has not been hacked remotely and that someone is not unlocking these preferences in order to execute some malicious activity on my computer.
Thanks in advance for the help.

    Thomas A Reed wrote:
If someone had hacked your machine, that little lock - and those preferences, for that matter - would be of little interest or consequence. The fact that it wouldn't lock (+Why wouldn't it lock? What happened when you tried?) but worked fine after a restart suggests to me you had a glitch of some kind. Not sure what, exactly.
When I clicked on the lock it did nothing other than stay unlocked. The restart fixed that issue but as mentioned in my original post, I found the lock again unlocked on two occasions after that. However, on these two subsequent occasions, I was able to engage the lock without a restart.
    Thomas A Reed wrote:
Out of curiosity, why are you concerned about those locks? The fact that they're misbehaving on your machine aside, I've always found them rather silly, personally. If someone has access to your account, they can do worse than change your settings, and there are better ways of keeping trusted-but-unreliable users (like kids) from messing up your settings (namely, not letting them use your account in the first place).
This is good to know. I wrongly assumed that these locks were an important security feature to prevent unauthorized changes to system components that would leave my system vulnerable to unauthorized use.
The first thing I will do is trash the system preferences plist and restart. That seems to be the prevailing recommendation thus far.

  • Secured WebDAV Mounted Volume Authorization Issues

I use a secure WebDAV mounted volume from myDisk.se and up until the latest Security Update have had zero issues being able to manipulate files and folders as I would on a normal volume. However, since the installation of the Security Update (2009-004 (PowerPC) 1.0) I find weird things happening with this mounted volume:
    1) I am able to mount the secured WebDAV share using my security credentials.
    2) I can create a default "untitled" folder but when I try to change its name, the WebDAV authorization dialog pops up and despite entering the same credentials (why, I am not sure as the volume has already been properly credentialed in order to be mounted), access is denied.
    3) Trying to create a file within a folder on the mounted WebDAV volume I previously created pre-update causes the same authorization issue.
I have no other WebDAV shares I can try to mount from any other companies so I am not sure if this is a myDisk issue or one borne from the Security Update. I am not a .Mac/MobileMe user and that info is not filled out in System Preferences. The internal hard drive has been meticulously maintained with Disk and Permissions repair being run both before and after each and every software update installed. Likewise, the volume's structure is also checked both before and after and shows no need for repairs.
Any ideas? Perhaps there is a corrupted file somewhere that's affecting the authorizations needed by this third-party WebDAV volume?
The machine that has this problem is the last model iBook G4/1.33GHz 12" display, 1.5GB RAM, and a 100GB 5400rpm HD which replaced the stock OEM 40GB 4200rpm drive about one year ago.
I'm not willing to do an Archive and Install at this point as the loss of the WebDAV access to my online volume is not critical. Inconvenient as heck but not to the point where I'm willing (or able) stop my normal work to spend the hours it will take to get WebDAV access back.
Thanks in advance for any insights.

same problem here with webdav, I can't mount my idisk from university network on Mac Pro 10.5.3 (although it mounts fine from home network on both ibook and PMG5 10.5.3). Everything was fine with 10.5.2 and I already re-installed 10.5.3 combo. Other bugs as well with .Mac prefs (keeps crashing, sometimes it shows the available space on idisk but still no mounting, with error -35 or -8086), but .Mac sync is OK

  • Authorize computer in a loop after upgrading to 7.7.1.11

We have been working with iTunes Store Support for a week, but have not been able to resolve the following issue.
We upgraded to 7.7.1.11 on 8/3, since the upgrade none of the hundreds of songs videos and TVShows purchased and downloaded prior to Sunday 8/3 will play in Itunes or the iPod touch (16Gb with 2.0 software update installed).
When we click on a song, movie or show, we receive the message "This computer is not authorized ...."
We than put in the password and receive the message: "Machine Authorization was Successful", but the songs/videos/shows still don't play. When you click on it again it asked again for authorization.
We were allowed to download a purchase from the weekend again and that works fine with the same account/password information, but previous purchases don't work at all.
We have followed multiple set of instructions received from iTunes Store support and the support website, including:
    1) De-authorizing, re-authorizing
    2) Re-installing iTunes
    3) Removing the SC folder
    4) Re-building the iTunes Library
    5) Re-building iTunes Preferences
    6) Creating a new user acount and installing iTunes
    7) Installing iTunes on a different computer with a different operating system (Windows 2000 instead of XP SP 3)
    8) Re-installed songs from a backup ...
    9) Updating iTunes Store Account Information, as instructed by support.
    10) Scanned for viruses ...
    11) Updated Windows XP ...
    12) Restored iPod Touch software
We have been loyal shareholders and customers to Apple and iTunes and were in the process of purchasing iPhones for the family, but this is becoming very aggravating.
I have never allowed my son to download music from other sources and been giving him an allowance to buy ftom iTunes. We have a lot of money invested in it and would like to see this resolved as soon as possible, but don't know were to turn from here.
    Any suggestions are welcome.

We have this very same problem.
Our family have used iTunes and Apple TV almost exclusively now for at least 6 months buying online media.
We have invested well over $1,200 including an Apple TV, and as of the last update ALL of our content has been locked out.
We can not play any of our Apple TV Content - movies we have purchased, box sets we have downloaded (and only watched half of).
Music we have paid for and downloaded.
All of it is now locked up in this Authorization Loop error.
We have emailed support, and received the "We want your iTunes experience to be the best possible" lip service only and a promise that they are investigating. This is also the THIRD time we have had this problem.
    We have tried the install/re-install;
    The deauthorization/re-authorization;
    Deleting library files;
    Installing iTunes on ANOTHER computer;
    None of it has worked.
Not to mention every time we try one of these crazy time consuming "fixes" the Apple TV deletes all the files and has to re-sync which takes several hours as we have a lot of content.
As of last night we have decided as a family to no longer use any of Apple's online media services.
There are countless other vendors and on demand media services now that it seems pointless and almost diabolical to continue with a company that has so many technical problems - yet pretends it does not.
We were in the process of looking at buying a couple of iPhones and even a Mac laptop. But there is no way we can bury ourselves in deeper with a company that at a whim, can LOCK down all of our content and offer no explanation for it other than they hope we enjoy our iTunes experience.
Well this is a notice that we are most certainly NOT enjoying our iTunes experience and Apple, you have received our very last dollar.

  • Imported iTunes will not let me play or authorize my purchased music!

    Hi,
I upgraded the hard drive in my trusty MacBook Pro, and then put my old HD in a usb enclosure and used Migration Assistant to transfer over my old stuff. The music I had from my CDs transferred over without issue.
The problem is, the music I had purchased from the iTunes store. When I go to play these songs, I get the authorization window with the option to enter my Apple ID to authorize this computer. Well, I had already authorized this computer right after I transferred these songs to it.
I originally had used my old AOL account for purchases etc. I tried that username and password. No luck, it tells me I have to update my account. (I have, before I had swapped my hard drive, updated my account when I bought an iPhone 4 and MobilMe, but we will get to that in a minute).
So, I clicked 'update,' figuring I will simply enter my new information and this will all be over with, but no! I get a screen that says "Your Request Cannot be Completed. Make sure your computer's date is set correctly and that it accepts cookies from the iTunes Music Store. For detailed solutions to resolve this issue, click More Info."
I clicked 'More Info,' which is of no help, as it takes me to a iTunes for Windows XP Windows 2000 support page with no solution that works. I set my Safari preferences to accept all cookies (something I don't want long term, but figured would do for this and then switch once I got MY music back.) Also, my date and time are set correctly. I scoured the help for a solution, but cannot find one.
So, I repeated this process, clicked on a purchased song, and tried entering my updated ID and PW. I get a message window saying "This Computer is Already Authorized. Including this one, you have authorized 3 computers out of your available 5." And, the purchased music still will not play!
So, I next de-authorized my computer and reauthorized it again. Which had no effect, as what I described above still occurs the same way and I cannot play some of my favorite songs which I did the right thing and paid for and now can only look at their titles wistfully.
So, I am hoping there is someone out there who can help me get my groove back with a solution to this problem. Help please!
    Thanks,
    Grugi

this was a know problem with older ipods, I had to go to the apple store and they traded me up to a new nano
I had the exact same problem, interesting, sometimes when you completely re-load the device, it wouold work for a couple of days, and then not play purchased songs.
Go to an apple store and let them know about this, it is their problem to fix.
I would guess, if you connected a nano, this would not happen

  • How to change preferences for all users in a Citrix enviroment

    Hello.
I need change some preference settings for all users in my Citrix enviroment.
I know change the preference settings for a user, of course, but a have 160 users and a need to change some settings configuration one time on the server for all users.
The preferents I need change are: 'disable javascript' and 'don't show pdf in IE'
    Thanks.

    Hi Arti,
In cProjects the authorizations can be managed either by authorization profile administration by system administrator for General authorizations or by Project specific authorizations for individual cProjects elements by Project owner.
Try the first one and I hope you will get the solution.

  • HT5772 I have a "Shared Library" that I did not authorize, and I need to delete it.  How do I delete?

I wanted to syn my phone to my ITunes today, so i could put an audio book from my laptop to my IPhone and ITouch.  When I opened IYunes, there is a "Shared Library" that I did not authorize that is in my ITunes that is over 550 GB of data.  I don't want it, and I want to earase it, but can't figure out how to do that.  Can you help me get rid of it?  Also, how di I set up my ITunes to not allow this in the future?  I am in the military deployed in Afghanistan, so communications and internet are terrible.  Please help.
    Thanks

Edit > Preferences > General tab, untick Shared Libraries so you don't see those shared by others on the same network, then go to the Sharing tab and untick Share my library on my local network, if ticked, so that you are not sharing yours. Click OK.

  • Script setting require an admin password to unlock preferences

Hidden in System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> Advanced is a button to turn on or off requiring an administrator level password to unlock various System Preference options. This will secure certain preference options as defined in the /etc/authorization file.
When you turn it on it will set to true that those preference options are to be secured and when you turn it off it will set the control to false. By making a copy of the file /etc/authorization and then doing a diff of the before and after copies you can see the changes. (Or open both copies and scroll through them.)
However it seems it also sets a flag someone where else to indicate which mode it is in, this I somewhat expected because it is possible to manually modify the settings in /etc/authorization and it would need some overall method of determing which mode it is in.
My problem is that I don't know where this overall flag is kept, it does not appear to be in /etc/authorization itself although I may have missed it.
Does anyone know where this setting is?
With this information it would be possible to then write a script to apply the changes to /etc/authorization and also set that overall flag for the purposes of pre-configuring a computer when imaging it.
    Thanks.

its should disable but every time i open the system preferences still show up ????
Or i should make restart ?
That is a different question. Your initial question was about where the setting was.
I never messed with the setting before and I have always had to unlock locked preferences.  I tried it just now, though, and it doesn't seem to do what it says it should. Maybe it does something but I don't know what it is.  You can try a restart or log out but I am doubtful it will make a difference.

Does anyone know how to authorize iCloud on the computer so that i can re-download things ?

Pages 5 now uses the system-level auto-correction in System Preferences > Keyboard > Text. Unfortunately, a lot of the options available in previous versions of Pages no longer exist.
Leave feedback for the Pages team using the link in the Pages menu. Also leave feedback for Mavericks.
