BW statistics - missing ODS

Can anyone tell me why my ODS is not in the list for activation of statistics?
I have created a couple of ODS' and transported. I'd like to use stats to analyse the data loads but only some of the ODS' are in the list to activate (Tools->BW Statistics for InfoProviders).
I also can't see any difference between the ODS' that would cause some to be listed & others not - I must have missed something, right?
BW 3.5 p17
Thanks,
Patrick

just a thought...
are the settings the same for all ODS...are they all "bex reporting".
do you have data in all the ods?
did you create queries for all ods?
did you refresh the AWB before getting the list?

There is no data in RSDDSTAT_DM at all.
When use &Profiling=X with webtemplate url, it does not deliver OLAP and DM details either. Corresponding columns are empty.
Have anyone experienced the same problem?
We saw Note 1072693 - Statistics data is not written, but we are on the appropriate SP already
    Thank you,

    Hi Vitaliy,
Can you please check the setting for BI stat's for the template. You can maintain the setting using TX: RSDDSTAT or TX: RSA1-> Tools-> BI Stat's setting

  • BW statistics for ods objects

    Hi Everyone,
In the search criteria I found documents only for bw statistics for infocubes. but not for ods objects.
After executing the queries for the ods objects in the bex, the entries are not made in rsddstat table, then where else it is store.
Can anyone please let me know how can I find the query runtime of ods objects.
    Thanks,
    Prashant.

    Hi,
Yes I marked for the ods objects also for olap and whm, and executed the query in bex analyzer but still I do not get any entries for these objects in RSDDSTAT table.
What could be the problem. Is there a different procedure to find the query runtime of ods objects, please let me know.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Look at this
Have you mark these ods objects in rsa1->tools->bw statistics for infoprovider ? checkbox for olap and whm ticked

  • Statistics missing for some tables in sys after scheduler job ran

In a 10g database, the scheduler automatically has the job set up to gather the statistics for the sys schema. I noticed the job was disabled for some reason so I enabled it yesterday and it ran last night. I didn't see any errors for last night's scan.
I have looked at sys.all_tab_statistics and noticed that there are many tables in sys that have a last_analyzed date of last night but there are also many tables that have a last_analyzed date that is a long time ago. For example, the argument$ table has stats from 8/21/06. Also, the scheduler window did not close before the job finished.
Some of the tables that weren't scanned report 'YES' in the 'STALE_STATS' column.
Why doesn't the GATHER_STATS_JOB gather stats for all of the tables in sys and only some of them?
    Ideas?

Check whether statistics gathering is locked. You can use below query
    SQL> select stattype_locked,table_name from dba_tab_statistics where table_name
    like '%ARGUMENT%';
    STATT TABLE_NAME
    ARGUMENT$
    SCHEDULER$_JOB_ARGUMENT
    SCHEDULER$_PROGRAM_ARGUMENT
    CWM$ARGUMENT
If you find stattype_locked column null, then i believe it is to do with monitoring stuff.

  • SQL Developer Optimization

I have a few questions about SQL Developer that I was wondering if someone can help with:
    1. Does SQL Developer have the sql optimization feature that is present in Toad?
Within TOAD, there is a facility that will help the user to optimize the sql and I was wondering if this was present in SQL Developer
    2. When using the compare facility for showing the difference between 2 tables, does SQL Developer show the data that is different?
    Thanks

    K,
There are a couple of project in the works for this. Heres a quick exert of what we are planning. There is no confirmed release train for this at the minute though. This is provided for information only.
    SQL Code Advisor*
By leveraging database features like Automated Workload Repository (AWR) and Active Session History (ASH), the potential exists to evaluate any SQL statement within a package or worksheet that has been executed and flag any statements exceeding some performance threshold. The developer will then immediately know if the SQL in question merits any tuning effort or should be left "as is".
The goal of SQL Code Advisor is to provide real-time feedback to developer within an editor or worksheet on factors which may impact performance. Without going into great detail in this overview, here are some:
    * Connected to database instance with missing system statistics
    * SQL references tables and indexes with missing or stale statistics, or indexes in an invalid state
    * Population and cardinality estimates of referenced tables
    * Type, compression status, cache status, degree of parallelism for referenced tables
    * Explain plan indicates Full Table Scan performed on a large table
    * Explicit datatype conversions of columns in predicates, preventing use of available indexes
    SQL Tuning Advisor*
By leveraging existing database APIs in the DBMS_SQLTUNE and DBMS_ADVISOR packages, with appropriate UI enhancements, this SQL Tuning Advisor extension will allow a developer to generate a report to warn when SQL performance may be impaired by:
    * stale optimizer statistics
    * missing indexes
    * improper coding practices.
These APIs are able to perform more in-depth analyses of SQL statements than the optimizer. As a consequence, in addition to offering advice on specific environment and coding issues, it can produce a SQL Profile. The Profile contains additional statistics which help the optimizer find a more efficient execution plan. The original execution plan can be presented side-by-side with the enhanced SQL Profile-assisted execution plan for comparison. The developer has control over which, if any, of the recommendations to accept and deploy.

  • Cross Join in ABAP Open SQL

    Hi guys!
I need to implement a CROSS JOIN (cartesian product) based on two tables. To my understanding there is no construct to implement a cross join in OPEN SQL. So the question is first is this correct? And secondly in which way would you then implement a cross join of two tables with the constructs at hand in ABAP?
I have come up with the following solution of cross joining two tables, but would like to know if there is a better (not so ugly way).
    Example:
    SELECT * FROM tab1 AS t1 JOIN tab2 AS t2 ON t1mandt = t2mandt INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF itab.
Note that this only works if the tables tab1 and tab2 is client dependent.
    Regards,
    Christian

    Christian,
There's no cross join construct in abap. Join statement results in a cartesin product rarely because of completely obsolete statistics missing selection or join conditions.
Try the following join to get result similar to cartesian product
    select tab1location tab2matnr into itab
      from tab1 join tab2 on tab1location ne tab2matnr.
if you really want to implement cross join, use native sql, try the following code,
beware of cartesian products, Basis folks doesn't like em....
data: begin of itab occurs 0,
      loc like tab1-sloc
      matnr like tab2-matnr,
    end of itab.
    exec sql performing append_itab.
      select a.loc, b.matnr
        into :itab
        from tab1 a
        cross join tab2 b
    endexec.
    form append_itab.
      append itab.
    endform.

  • Using RSSM_SUPPRESS_STATISTICS

Hi, I was considering the use of program RSSM_SUPPRESS_STATISTICS (Note 893595 - Suppress Generation of DB Statistics during ODS Activation)  The selections are not very clear, but if you review the code below is what you get.  I am planning on using option 2
    1. Has anyone really used this with great benefit?
    2. Does option 2 really deactivate the statistics and then reactivate afterwards?
    3. If  option 2 works as I have described do I have to manuall generate statistics for this DSO?
    4. How to I generate the statistics for this DSO if I have to?
    Thanks!
Option 1 SUP_BEF X     DB Statistic Generation Deactivated Before Activation
SUP_AFT X     DB Statistic Generation Deactivated After Activation
Option 2 SUP_BEF X     DB Statistic Generation Deactivated Before Activation
SUP_AFT ' '   DB Statistic Generation Activated After Activation
Option 3 SUP_BEF ' '   DB Statistic Generation Activated Before Activation
SUP_AFT X     DB Statistic Generation Activated After Activation

    Hi Kenneth,
    1. Has anyone really used this with great benefit?
Yes , we have used this in a scenario where ODS activation was taking too long.
    2. Does option 2 really deactivate the statistics and then reactivate afterwards?
While the ODS activation takes place, if we see the logs we will be able to see, the ODS try to do a RUNSTAT on the ODS tables before and after activation. So the answer is YES, it will activate the DB Statistics only after activation.
    3. If option 2 works as I have described do I have to manually generate statistics for this DSO?
No you will not need to manually generate statistics.
    4. How to I generate the statistics for this DSO if I have to?
But Statistics can be manually generated by running a RUNSTAT from the TCODE DB02.

  • Data in ODS are missing

    Hi All,
I am working on 0FI_GL_10 DS. i am loading data from DS>DSO>CUBE.
I am loading data for 2007 as well as 2008. for some of the G/L Account the values are coming only for 2007.EX. there are 16 posting period in 2007 so data for the field 0DEBIT , 0CREDIT, and 0BALANCE are coming for 2007 but it is not carryforwarding the last period balance to the 2008001  and data comes from the fifth posting period means data comes for 2008006.
why data is missing in ODS for first four posting period  while it is coming perfactly in PSA and it happens with many G/L Accounts.
    Regards,
    Komik Shah

No - the figures in the DSO shoudl be deltas
Then in the start routine for the cube shoudl generate the periods in the future for the next year (as per the PCA cubes start routine)
SO the DSO contains - for example:
    Period 5 2008   EUR 100
After the start routine in the cube has generated the entries you will see
    Period 5 2008   EUR 100
    Period 6 2008   EUR 100
    Period 7 2008   EUR 100
    Period 8 2008   EUR 100
    Period 9 2008   EUR 100
    Period 16 2008   EUR 100
Then when you get a movement in period 7 in the DSO you will then see this in the DSO
    Period 5 2008   EUR 100
    Period 7 2008   EUR 300
After that you will see this in the cube
    Period 5 2008   EUR 100
    Period 6 2008   EUR 100
    Period 7 2008   EUR 100
    Period 7 2008   EUR 300
    Period 8 2008   EUR 100
    Period 8 2008   EUR 300
    Period 9 2008   EUR 100
    Period 9 2008   EUR 300
    Period 16 2008   EUR 100
    Period 16 2008   EUR 300
    And after compression!
    Period 5 2008   EUR 100
    Period 6 2008   EUR 100
    Period 7 2008   EUR 400
    Period 8 2008   EUR 400
    Period 9 2008   EUR 400
    Period 16 2008   EUR 400
But you need to get the keys to the DSO correct!!

  • Workflow status missing in ODS held & sample documents

    Dear experts,
we are trying to create a Bex report on the ODS for held & sample docs. For this report we want to be able to filter on the workflow status. The problem we have is that the workflow status (0BCS_WFSTAT) is missing in the ODS. It is available however in the virtual cube for held & sample documents.
Wha can give us some advise?
I know that there is a report in the workbench to check this as well, but we want a bex report also.
    KR, Ewald

Sorry Ewald, I don't really understand what is your issue. Actually, the BCS best practise is to develop your BEx report on the virtual cube, not directly on the direct update DSO. The purpose is to have the correct data (with consolidation logic applied) in your reporting.

  • Missing Data Target in Infopackage for Update ODS Data in Data Target Cube

Hello & Best Wishes for the New Year to all of you,
I have 3 ODS (1 on Full Update and 2 with Delta Updates). All these 3 ODS update data to a single CUBE. In my development system this works correctly. Data load from PSA to ODS to Cube.
Now I transported this to my QA and Production System. In QA and Production System, I am able to load data upto all the 3 ODS and ACTIVATE Data in all these 3 ODS.
When I am trying for "Update ODS Data in Data Target" to load data from ODS to Cube in QA /PD, the system created Infopackage (ODS to CUBE), doesnot get the Data Target details. (Initial Upload / Full Upload). The Data Target Tab is Blank (expected Cube details).
I have tried to transport again after deleting the update rules.
Can you suggest what could be the problem ?
    regards - Rajesh Sarin

    Thanks Dinesh,
I have the ODS to CUBE Update Rules ACTIVE in the QA and PD system. Still the problem exists only in QA and PD. In DV the ODS to CUBE Data Target is available in the Infopackage and loading the data correctly to Cube.
Listing all the trials I have done :
    1) Originally transported with all the Collected Objects. Inspite of having Active Update Rules, Data Target Cube was missing in QA and PD.
    2) After this problem, I again transported only the Update Rules through the Transport Connection, still the problem didnot get solved in QA and PD.
    3) Again, I sent a transport to delete the Update Rules which deleted the ODS to CUBE update rules in (DV), QA, PD. After that I sent another request to CREATE the ODS To CUBE UPDATE Rules in (DV), QA and PD. Still the Data Target is missing, inspite of having Active Update Rules in QA and PD.
In DV the ODS to CUBE Data Target is available and loading the data correctly to Cube, even now.
    4) I have also tried "Generate Export Data Source" for the 3 ODS in QA and PD. Still it doesnot help.
    Can you please suggest ?
    regards - Rajesh Sarin

  • How to handle the MISSING STATISTICS:Table or Index has no optimizer stats

    Dear All,
For some of our recently created Ztables, we have been receiving an error message of MISSING STATISTICS in the system saying that Table or Index has no optimizer statistics. To solve the problem, when I go for creating an index with the key fields of the table, I receive a message that these fields are already there in the index 0 (primary index).
Pls advice how to solve this issue.
    Regards,
    Alok.

    Hi friend,
Please delete all primary and secondary indexes and redo creation of index. Now u will surely be able to create it.
