BW Statitstics - Frequency / Number of Navigations

Hi All,
what is the difference between Frequency and Number of Navigations in BW statistics cubes.
Regards,
Sreedhar

Hi:
This is my understanding.
0TCTSTAUIK (Frequency)is the number of intial executions of a query.
0TCTNAVCTR (Number of navigations) is the number of navigation steps (as there can be numerous nav steps for any one query).

• BW Statistics: Number of navigations = 0, why?

Hi all!
Someone knows why BW Statistics is registering "0"? all this in a number of navigations (0TCTNAVCTR). Yes, the model is registering 0 in the number of navigations, but if you see the full register you will see that the navigations consumed resources like time from olap processor and time to read in database.
In this example I have 3 cubes and BW is registering the following:
Query -|- DB use -|- Num Navigations -|- Read to database --|- Overall Time (OLAP)
cube1 -|- 229 -
|- 0 -
|- 0.000000000E00 -|- 9.2853907303E02
cube2 -|- 146 -
|- 0 -
|- 3.826835709E02 -|- 1.8313828200E03
cube3 -|- 2,999 ---|- 833 -
|- 4.843554379E02 -|- 1.01699720600E04
Why is happened that?
I'm working with BW Statistics on BW 3.5 with the cube 0BWTC_C02
Thanks!!!!

• Filter selection for 0TCTQUCOUNT to get number of navigations

In BI statistics, we have a key figure 0TCTQUCOUNT to get the count. can any body tell what are filter selections to get number of navigations in a query.
thanks

Hi,
You can use FM rh_struc_get with evaluation path MANASS to see of which organizational unit the manager is manager of.
ANd then either with evaluation path B008 to see who is placeholder of that unit, or with O-O_DOWN to get all the subsequent units.

• Bw statistic - number of navigation

Hi gurus,
When I execute a new query, this should increase one of number of navigation. That's right... ?
In most cases it is, but sometimes I get number of navigations is 3 even 4 per one time executing.
Is there any suggestion why do it occurs ?
Thankfully,

hi,
not sure if it's set incorrectly
309955 BW statistics - Questions, answers, errors
Prior to Support Package 23 (2.0B), 15 (2. 1C)
a) Counter 0TCTNAVCTR is set incorrectly, if a Web report contains several queries where navigation is performed several times. The problem is solved with the specified support packages or Correction 386678.
Prior to Support Package 19 (2.0B), 11(2. 1C).
a) When using Web reports, key figure 0TCTNAVCTR is not set correctly.
The cause is that, when using Web reports, a large number of entries that cannot be assigned to any query (as explained above under 'Explanations') are generated in Table RSDDSTAT. The number in key figure 0TCTNAVCTR is only calculated as follows when loading the data. All records selected are sorted by the SESSIONUID (records of a session) and NAVSTEPUID (all records of a navigation step). When loading, the value of 0TCTNAVCTR is set to 1 each time the NAVSTEPUID is changed (otherwise 0). This way the number of navigation steps can be easily determined.
In the case of Web reports, however, records of handle 9999 (see above) are inserted in between so that the counter is set to 1 too often.
The specified correction 306437 solves the problem.

• Navigation cache

Hi all,
I read that enabling navigation cache improves portal performance.
My question is this: If i enable/disable navigation cache, or modifying any of it's properties in visual administrator - does the portal need to be restarted or the changes take effect immediately?
Also, the properties come with default values: 100 for cache lifetime, and 5000 for number of objects. Are those values the recommended values to use? what should i take into consideration when giving values to these properties?
Thanks,
Moti.

Hi Moti,
If you make changes to the properties in the Visual Admin you will need a restart of the J2EE.
When setting the timeout of the cache it is important to consider the number of navigation object which you are displaying and also the frequency with which they may change. The good thing about the navigation is, that it should not change that often for a particular user. So the default timeouts of the navigation cache are not quite as critical as those for something like a content cache.
Besides, a System Administrator can always clear the cache manually, anytime anyway.
Rgds,
Marc

• How to come up with a magic number for any table that returns more than 32KB?

I am in a unique situation where in I am trying to retrieve values from multiple tables and publish them as XML output. The problem is based on the condition a few tables could retrieve data more than 32KB and a few less than 32KB. Less than 32KB is not an issue as XML generation is smooth. The minute it reaches greater than 32KB it generates a run time error. Just wondering if there is any way to ensure that the minute the query's results is greater than 32 kb, it should break say - if the results is 35KB, then I should break that result into 32 KB and 3kb; once done then pass this data to be published as an XML output. This is again not just for one table, but all the tables that are called in the function.
Is there any way?? I am unable to get any ideas nor have I done anything so complex from production support stand point. Would appreciate if someone can guide me on this.

||  ' AND rownum < 16'
The minute I comment
||  ' AND rownum < 16' ;
, it throws an error because this query returns around 600 rows and all of those rows need to be published as XML and the tragedy is that there is a C program in between as well i.e. C will call my packged functions and then will do all the processing. Once this is done will pass the results back to C program. So obviously C does not recognise CLOB and somewhere in the process I have to convert the CLOB to VARCHAR or instead of CLOB I have to use VARCHAR array as a return type. This is my challenge.
Anyone that can help me to find out the required magic number and also a brief know how, I would appreciate that. Many thanks in advance.

Not sure I understand which part is failing.
Is it the C program calling your packaged function? Or does the error occur in the PL/SQL code, in which case you should be able to pinpoint where it's wrong?
A few comments :
1) Using DOM to build XML out of relational data? What for? Use SQL/XML functions.
2) Giving sample data is usually great, but it's not useful here since we can't run your code. We're missing the base tables.
3) This is wrong :
vStrSqlQuery := 'SELECT * FROM ' || vTblName                     || ' WHERE record_update_tms <= TO_DATE(''' || TO_CHAR(vLastPubTms, 'MM/DD/YYYY HH24:MI:SS') || ''', ''MM/DD/YYYY HH24:MI:SS'') ' ;
A bind variable should be used here for the date.
4) This is wrong :
elmt_value := xmldom.createTextNode (doc, l_clob(1));
createTextNode does not support CLOB so it will fail as soon as the CLOB you're trying to pass exceeds 32k.
Maybe that's the problem you're referring to?
5) This is most wrong :
l_clob(1):=REPLACE(l_clob(1),'<?xml version="1.0"?>', NULL);
l_clob(1):=REPLACE(l_clob(1),'<', '<');
l_clob(1):=REPLACE(l_clob(1),'>', '>');
I understand what you're trying to do but it's not the correct way.
You're trying to convert a text() node representing XML in escaped form back to XML content.
The problem is that there are other things to take care of besides just '<' and '>'.
If you want to insert an XML node into an existing document, treat that as an XML node, not as a string.
Anyway,
Anyone that can help me to find out the required magic number
That would be a bad idea. Fix what needs to be fixed.
And please clearly state which part is failing : the C program or the PL/SQL code?
I'd vote for PL/SQL, as pointed out in [4].

• Opportunity Product reporting with # of Periods and Frequency

We are just about to roll out out a business unit and they will be using the frequency, number of periods, and the start/close date fields on the revenue record.
In staging, I created a test report and it 'explodes' the product to have 12 individual entires, since I picked 12 as the number of periods. I set the qty to 60 and all 11 months have 60 but the first month has 61. Is there a reason for that?

Product: you do get the dimensions and facts for the Product object... so you'd build a report with Product information
Opportunity-Product: you do get dimensions and facts for the Products related to an opportunity... so you'd build a report with Opportunity and Product information

• Problem with Navigation Attributes when upgrading from BI 3.1 to BI 7.0

Hello,
I have the following problem that occured regarding queries during the upgrade from BI 3.1 to BI 7.0:
As far as the queries are concerned it is not possible in the 7.0 system to completely rebuild them according to the queries in 3.1. More specifically this refers to a certain number of navigation attributes that cannot be integrated into the query. In this case the following error message appears: "Error in BW: Missing mapping partprov cha <-> multiprov cha". Moreover, this error message only appears when you try to include navigation attributes into the query that are all attributes of the same specific InfoObject.
I have already checked in the 7.0 system if the relevant objects have the status 'active' and if the identification between the Multiprovider and the InfoObjects used is correct. So, is there anybody who may has another idea why this error message appears respectively who experienced the same/similar problem?
Thanks in advance & Regards

Hello Martin,
yes, I've also checked the identification in the MultiProvider for the navigational attributes. There is nothing missing.
I've also reactivated the objects.
Do you may have another idea?
Thanks and regards, Ines

• Statistics - Connections number

Hello
I am working on BW Statistics Cube. Can anyone please let me know how to get the number of connections.
Previously in the infocube 0BWTC_C02, in 3.x, with had 2 key figures, number of frontend sessions and number of navigations.
In the new multi-provider 0TCT_MC01 we can get easily the number of navigations with "Counter for queries". But for the number of connections, i haven't found the way to publish this information.
Thanks for your help

Hi Jacques,
Can you plz tell me how did you manage this.

it goes like this - the main timeline is the _root of the
movie. Anything on that timeline has a . after it. So if you have a
movieclip called "clip1" and inside of that another movieclip
called "subclip" then the full path to that movie is:
_root.clip1.subclip
From the subclip movie if you want to control the main
timeline you just write something like this:
button1.onRelease = function(){
_root.gotoAndPlay(1);
No matter where that button is located (inside a clip inside
a clip inside....) it will still control the main timeline.
Hope that makes sense.

• How to creat navigation pane or tabs in a document

Dear Friends!
I have prepared my thesis report having different chapters, each chapter has various sections. I want to create a navigation pane (just
like tabs, a tab for each chapter and sub-tabs after opening a specific chapter) for my thesis, because this element is essential for easy navigation. The navigation pane may consist of Chapters heading, search option, switching to content from any page
and page number (with navigation to next or returning page). furthermore, when I click to go to any specific chapter from navigation, a specific navigation pane may be there in that very chapter
for easy switching to various sections of the same chapter.
Secondly I also want to get the same report/data in PDFs, in order to enable quickly access for needed information.
Is the same feature can be done in MS Office, or any other specialized tool/software is existing to create such type of documents
please? I need help in this regard please.

set your own UI, overriding paintTab(..) to add 5 (or whatever gap) to each of rects.x

• What the big impact change the navigational attribute

I do have infoset contained 3 DSO,
1 of the DSO have 0JOB which we need to set as Navigational Attribute..
The the most impact and precaution that I need to think before take this step..
i know that base on your experience .. hope that you could share with me ..
Point will be assign
thank you

Hi...
You can set 0JOB as navigational attribute....no probs...........
But........navigational attributes require additinal joins during query runtime........so it has an impact on the performance..........It will slow down the query performance.............moreover if u hav aggregates on the cube.......during attribute change run .....adjustment of aggregates will also slow down.........due to this we should always try to minimize number of navigational attributes..........u also consider how often the query will run.............
Hope this helps.......

• 0BWTC_C02 - Viewing number of query executions and refreshes

Hi,
I having been testing some queries I created for infocube 0BWTC_C02. Is there any way to limit the key figure 0TCTNAVCTR to only show navigations that were query refreshes (e.g. ignoring navigations such as removing/adding a drilldown, results row, ect.)? Do any of the available characteristics show what type of navigation was being performed, so that I could restrict the query to only look at certain types of navigations?
Thanks,
Andy

Hi Pcrao,
I am using the BW statistics infocube 0BWTC_C02.
But as far as I see, the key figure 0TCTNAVCTR( number of navigation steps)now only includes query execution, but also includes all other navigation steps like drill down etc.
Can we do some restriction on navigation type etc to find just the number times query execution takes place?
Thanks,
James

• BW Statistics - OLAP Navigations

I am interested in getting stats out of the stats cube that show the number of times a query is executed. OLAP navigations include this but also include things such as drilldowns and filtering. Is there any way of getting just the number of times a query is executed out of the stats cube such as a key figure that I havn't found?
Any help much appreciated

Hi Ian !
To determine how often a query is called, at best use a calculated key figure. The calculated key figure refers to key figure 0TCTSTAUIK. Define an exception aggregation of type count. The following reference characteristics are possible for exception aggregation:
a) 0TCTSESUID - Determines the number of times a query is called.The number of navigations is not taken into account.
b) 0TCTNAVUID - Determines the number of navigations.
Hope it helps !

Navigation:
WORK IN PROCESS --> DISCRETE JOBS --> OPERATIONS --> ATTACHMENTS(IN MENU YOU CAN FIND).
In operations screen, for each operation sequence number, you can have attachement.In attachement, i want to pick the remarks column.
Table: OPERATIONS -- WIP_OPERATIONS
ATTACHEMENTS - FND_ATTACHED_DOCS_FORM_VL
REMARKS - fnd_documents_short_text
Link between FND_ATTACHED_DOCS_FORM_VL and fnd_documents_short_text is media_id. But i am not able to find the link between wip_operations and fnd_attached_docs_form_vl.
Could anybody help me how to get attachement data for a particular operation sequence number.
Thanks in advance.

The link is
entity_type = 'WIP_DISCRETE_OPERATIONS' and
pk1_value =wip_entity_id and
pk2_value = operation_seq_num and
