BW Workload statistics: What is BEX3?

Hello Everyone,
In ST03N for a BI system we have a portion there BI Workload statistics to monitor the BI query performance. I understand that queries are ran via RSRT, BEX Analyzer and BEX Web Analyzer or the Portal.
If we look at the query in detail and double click one infocube we have there individual records for a query and there is a column FRONTEND aside from the Total Time, DB time, OLAP time columns etc. I would like to ask that since I have seen 3 Frontend types as BEX, BEX3 and JAVA it is understandable that BEX Web analyzer is the JAVA frontend. How about what is RSRT and what is BEX analyzer? Which is for BEX3 or BEX for the two remaining frontend type?
many Thanks,
Jennah

  • Analysis of Workload Statistics through ST03n

    Hello All,
I am monitoring performance of transaction Vl01n. The workload  table access statistics(St03n) for this transaction shows 0 modificatios, 0 direct reads, 0 sequential reads on table LTAK and has the top access time for the transaction (almost 90% of the total response time of the transaction).
My question here is that, <b>what other operation can cause such high response time when the Workload shows 0 modificatios, 0 direct reads, 0 sequential reads.</b>
Also the STAD data shows that this transaction has high response time with LTAK being the major contributor, when the Work process type Is <b>'U'</b>. Can we make assumptions that the operation being performed is Update?

    Hi Vijay,
well - no db accesses but still high response time?
Possibly RFC, NETWORK, PAGING, CPU, SERIALIZATION on shared resources... There are SO MANY possible for a high response time.
And yes, if the WP-Type is U then it's a UPDATER.
So, easiest step would probably be to perform a STO5 SQL Trace of the VI01n transaction. If it's about the database you'll find it out there.
If not, then it's perhabs time to open a support message.

  • Get Reporting Statistics: What resulting statistic values?

    Cisco CRA Editor 3.5(3)
In the script we are doing a " Get Reporting Statistics " step to get the agent state
    What resulting statistic values?
    "Ready" does not approach

Create a String variable to store the agent state and set Result Statistic in the Get Reporting Statistic step to this variable. You can then reference this variable in future steps such as If AgentState == "Ready".
Hope this helps. If so, please rate the post.

  • MBRC and SYSTEM STATISTICS in Oracle 10g database.

    Hi All,
I am performing database upgrade from Oracle 8i Solaris to Oracle 10g HP-UX using exp/imp method.
But i do have some doubts regarding MBRC and System statistics.
MBRC in Oracle 10g is automatically adjusted if MBRC parameter is not set, but i found value 128 as shown below.
    SQL> select * from v$version;
    BANNER
    Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi
    PL/SQL Release 10.2.0.4.0 - Production

TNS for HPUX: Version 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
    SQL> sho parameter multi
    NAME                                 TYPE                             VALUE
db_file_multiblock_read_count        integer                          128Also i performed one simple full table scan to test it...but db file scattered read is performing on 128 blocks. So i dont think 128 is suitable and is automatic, i mean MBRC is not set accrodingly it always uses 128.
Does this MBRC value affects whole database performance?
Regarding SYSTEM STATISTICS i found below result:
    SQL> select * from AUX_STATS$

    SYSSTATS_INFO                  STATUS                                    COMPLETED

Is it really require to gather system statistics, what will happen with NOWORLOAD stats?
I have not seen single database where system stats are gathered in our organisation having more than 2000 databases.

  • Standard transaction or cube to control the workload per user BI

    Hi,
Bw need to know if there is any transaction or any standard cube of BI content (Statistics BI), which allows me to see the BI workload.
What I need to know specifically is that cubes have greater access users, the queries that run .. etc, to see if the cube are used, how often and thus have a higher ranking of the least used.
    Thanks.

    Hello Oliver,
Thanks for your answer. However, the retention period is sufficient. Please see below.
    Standard statistics              Time comparison data
                           Days      7                Days      20
                           Weeks     6              Weeks     20
                           Months    5               Months    14
I think I should explain the issue a bit more. If I see the workload statistics for previous month i.e. 5/2008, I can see data for 16 days only. However, in weekly view I can see the data for same period. If I see data for other months like 4/2008, 3/2008. I see data for 10-15 days only not the complete month.
Program RSCOLL00 is scheduled hourly and it finishes successfully.
When I go in Workload analysis -> Log I see error message "The statistic file cannot be read". I have seen and act as per SAP note: 93713.
    Please help.

  • What's new version for sapwlpfnrm structure

sapwlpfnrm(SAP Workoad: Stat.record: Main statistic record) is old version of SAP Workload Collector. Do any one know the new version of this structure which can replace of sapwlpfnrm?

I do really appreciate your help.  Actually, the problem I met was we were using function module 'SWNC_GET_STATRECS_FRAME' to get workload statistics  and save the data into 'SWNCGLMAINREC' structure, and then use move -corresponding instruction to copy data from  'SWNCGLMAINREC' structure to 'sapwlpfnrm' structure. But the components type between the two structure is a little different , for example, 'QUEUETI' in 'SWNCGLMAINREC' is defined with 'DEC 12' but in 'sapwlpfnrm' is 'DEC 10'. As the result, it may cause potential overflow ABAP dump if the value of 'QUEUETI' in 'SWNCGLMAINRE' is exceed the maximum of 'DEC 10' but not reach 'DEC 12'.
When I check the new version of 'sapwlpfnrm' you mentioned, the 'QUEUETI' is still with 'DEC 10', that's to say, the problem i met is still exist with the new version.
So what I really want is to avoid potential overflow ABAP dumps if a structure could replace  'sapwlpfnrm'  structure and can copy data from 'SWNCGLMAINREC' to it.

Things run poorly when you run out of something... RAM, I/O, CPU, .... Generally that means that work has to wait until more of that resource becomes available.
Your vmstat shows that you're not running out of memory or CPU, and you don't have processes blocked. Your iostat isn't very comprehensive (iostat -nx is usually better), but doesn't look bad for I/O. Finally, all of that depends on your workload and what you expect. If you're running a database, having a server run with 0% idle CPU is probably very bad. If you're running a compute server in a grid, having a server run with 0% idle CPU is probably good.

  • ST03 BI workload stats runtime error

    Hi All,
we are getting a runtime error COMPUTE_BCD_OVERFLOW when we try to run BI workload statistics report.
Overflow during the arithmetical operation (type P) in program "SAPWL_ST03N". Seems like the result field is small.

  • PSAP SID TABLESPACE UPDATE STATISTICS ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES

    Dear All,
Can anyone explain me if we select PSAP SID table space only for update statistics from DB13 Instead of selecting all tables for update statistics, what are the advantages and disadvantages of selecting only PSAP SID tablespace .
I will be glad if you can suggest any related sapnote or sapmaterial.
we are working on SAP ECC5 and oracle version id 9i   and operating system is windows.

    Hi arunkumar ,
When you are updating statitics then update for all table space why for one only. After all it will increase the performance of your database.

  • EWA "6 Workload of System" - Other Time?

    Hello,
i'm looking at the Early Watch Alert from the SAP Marketplace.
In Part 6 - Workload of System is a chart which is called "Task Type Overview".
It shows different "Taks Types" like RFC, BATCH, DIALOG and the "Total Workload in h".
The "Response Time Components in Hours" are "Wait Time", "CPU Time", "DB Time", "GUI Time" and "Other Time".
The "Other Time" contains about 50% of the whole RFC-Time.
Can someone tell me, which Times the "Other Time" contains?
I'm worry about because the "Other Time" is so big ?!

  • How to find quickly what's wrong with the performance of a BW Query?

    Hi All,
After a long time, I had to work on performance tuning of a query, Version BI 7.0 EHP 1, SP7.
Compression in done, BI Stats are running, showing that OLAP time is high almost 70%, compared to 20% DB Read time.
Aggregates cannot be created due to the nature of the cube, BIA is out of scope.
How to find quickly, step by step, what's wrong with a particular query.
    Thanks in advance,
    Best Regards,
    - Shashi

    Hi Sashi ,
    1. OLAP time is more, you need to  increase OLAP cache, you have different options for the query in RSRT t-code..
Select properties which makes to store the query result set in OLAP Cache for permanent.
    Doc for the same :
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/44A46FE1-6DC0-4F2C-A8CB-A1BB45DF0186/FinalDownload/DownloadId-ED38793C4C172FE2AFFDE727E36B3991/44A46FE1-6DC0-4F2C-A8CB-A1BB45DF0186/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/f048c590-31a4-2c10-8599-bd01fabb93d4?QuickLink=index&overridelayout=true
2.Use only less no of Characteristics in the initial report. Place remaining in Free characteristics.
3.You need to check the query .It cmod code exist for any variable or your query have lots of navigational attributes then try to check for code efficiency .
4.If Front End time more then try to avoid the more characteristics in displaying the query result.
5.Use authorization objects on queries if possible .That will reduce data amount .
6.Use query read mode and  global structures as when possible.
