C++ Debugger  (Workshop)? - Urgent....

Hi
There is no C++ debugger in Sun ONE Studio 4, Update 1.
Can u please let me where can I get the C++ debugger (called workshop) ?
Workshop is very very urgent for us. Please let us asap.
Tx in advance.
nandha

C++ debugger is in Sun One Studio 7.
Workshop is the old name, even before Forte Developer. Now it's called Sun One Studio 7. See the name list:
Workshop 5.0 -- C++ 5.0
Forte Developer 6 -- C++ 5.1
Forte Developer 6 Update 1 -- C++ 5.2
Forte Developer 6 Update 2 -- C++ 5.3
Sun One Studio 7, Compiler Collection/Enterprise Collection -- C++ 5.4
Since you already have Sun One Studio 4 Update 1, you can get 'Sun One Studio 7, Compiler Collection' and launch IDE from Sun One Studio 4 Update 1.
See the links below, please read the features carefully:
Sun One Studio 7, Compiler Collection

  • JDeveloper 9i - Debugger Usage Question (Urgent!)

    So how do I switch between the client applet and server side in a debugging session. Here is my scenarion:
    1> I start java in debug mode
    set PATH=d:\jdev9i\jdk\jre\bin;%PATH%
    cd d:\jdev9i\j2ee\home
    java -ojvm -XXdebug,detached,port4000 -jar oc4j.jar
    2> You'll see the following message:
    *** Port is 4000 ***
    *** Connect debugger anytime for on demand debugging. ***
    Then, OC4J will start up.
    3> Back in JDeveloper, bring up the Project Settings dialog box.
    Select Debugger on the left side, check the Remote Debugging
    checkbox, and select the Attach to OJVM radio button.
    4> Put breakpoints in my code
    5> When you press Debug button on the toolbar (or from the menu),
    you will be presented with the Attach to OJVM dialog box where
    you enter the host name of the OC4J machine (leave blank if it's
    the same machine) and the debugging port number (4000). Press
    Ok, and the debugger will connect to OC4J.
    6> Next I start mmy web application from the browser using
    http://localhost:8888/property
    7> This triggers my breakpoints.
    ****However here is my problem. At some point in my flow I have to download an applet and I have breakpoints in it that I want to hit. However Jdeveloper just ignores those breakpoints completely.
    So how do I switch between the client applet and server side in a debugging session.
    Please help urgent!
    (Hope Liz Looney-> the debugger pro answers)
    FYI: Jdeveloper9i has a cool debugger!!!

    I have not tested this, but I believe all you have to do is:
    [list]
    [*]Create a new project, and add a test HTML page to it that contains an HTML link to the URL that you are using to launch your applet.
    [*]Right-mouse debug on that HTML page after setting breakpoints in your applet code
    [*]Click on the link in your HTML page
    [list]
    JDeveloper can be simulataneously debugging multiple sessions as once.
    Creating the second empty project gives a simple way to have one project set for remote debugging and the other project set for local (applet or otherwise) debugging.

  • How to specify a base class for Remote Interface in Workshop 9.2? -- URGENT

    Hi,
    I am trying to create a UUP EJB in WebLogic 9.2 workshop. I am using @FileGeneration to create my home & remote interfaces. And the generated remote interface is extending javax.ejb.EJBObject;I want my remote interface to extend com.bea.p13n.property.EntityPropertyManager which in turn implements javax.ejb.EJBObject. Can someone tell how i can do it in Workshop?.
    I came across Predefined Variable: remote.baseClass and as per docume
    ntation..."If specified, the value of this variable will be used as the base class for all generated remote classes. Where i should specify it?. @FileGeneration does nt have any option for it. Any help is grtly appreciated.
    Following are my code snippets:
    IMPL Class
    @FileGeneration(remoteClass = Constants.Bool.TRUE,remoteHome = Constants.Bool.TRUE, localClass = Constants.Bool.FALSE, localHome = Constants.Bool.FALSE,remoteClassName = "MyEntityPropertyManager",remoteHomeName = "MyEntityPropertyManagerHome")
    public class MyEntityPropertyManagerImpl extends GenericSessionBean implements
              SessionBean {
    //code
    }

    This question was posted to both the bea.workshop.developer.general and weblogic.developer.interest.workshop (I had replied to the later on 10/19); after seeing an identical question today on this list want to include a reference to that reply here:

  • URGENT:: errors with WLS Portal GA in Workshop

    Hi,
    I just installed the GA version of WebLogic Platform and tried to create a Portal
    using Workshop.
    I selected a "Portal Application" and then a "Portal Web Project". The WebLogic
    console (stdout) shows many errors. It is not able to find the some skins, portlets
    etc. The files seems to be there in the Web Project.
    When i create a Portal and try to run it, it comes up with a error (/framework/skeletons/default/desktop.jsp)
    not found. Even this file is present.
    These were working in the beta version.
    Anybody got the same errors. Any solutions??
    Attached is the error file.

  • Jdeveloper 10.1.2.1 debugger won't start  **** URGENT ****

    I posted this in an older thread at the end:
    Re: jdev 10 (9.0.5.2) debugger won't start
    I can't run the debugger using the runner: jvm option of ojvm, hotspot, or client, and can't debug a simple standalone java class w/o an error window within the same project:
    When I try to debug a standalone class (HelloWorld.java)
    Status line showed connection problem.
    got errors:
    (can't gab the command line since JDEveloper is locked up - I have an hourglass and the only thing I can do is minimize, maximize, or close it)
    c:\jdev10121\jdk\bin\]javaw.exe -ojvm -XXdebug,quiet,port2651 -classpath C:\Projects\jdev10121\MSI\MSI\
    Debugger connected to local process.
    Debugger connection to debugee process has been lost.
    Debugger disconnected from local process.
    Process exited.
    Debugger unable to connect to local processIf I try to debug using client or hotspot, the application will start, but it does not recognize any of the breakpoints at all, so the debugger never kicks in. It does on a windows xp workstation running the same version of jdeveloper. Also, I can't recompile classes and replace on the fly.
    I am able to run the web application regular (w/o debug) using ojvm.
    My J2EE settings are 1.4.2_06. This is what resides in c:\jdev10121\jdk\bin. That same path is in my system path. The java_home env var is set to: c:\jdev10121\jdk.
    I run the JDEV.exe rather than JDEVw.exe and nothing appears in the console window.
    I can't recall anything about the machine that caused this to stop working as it was working less than 1 week ago. The machine is a Windows 2000 Dell workstation. I thought the problem might be caused by adding the Oracle XML Parser to the project, but I removed that library and commented out the code.
    The only way the debugger works is to do REMOTE DEBUGGING (I'm connecting to my embedded oc4j via localhost though):
    1. Start the application using hotspot in debug mode. Note the port that is sent to oc4j.
    2. Create another project for remote debugging, and set the tools->project properties->remote debugging on for that project. right click and select remote debug, and type in the port from the other window. Once connected, I can set breakpoints and examine code, etc.
    This is really troubling as putting system.debug messages for debugging is like going back to the early days of cobol on the vax for me -- no wait, the debugger under motif in 1994 worked... well, maybe before cobol then....
    Anyway, please let me know if there's a solution to this.
    Thanks,
    Eric

    Debugger unable to connect to local process
    I tried reinstalling JDeveloper but the debug function still does not work.
    I just found this to be funny:
    No search results for "debugger AND ojvm AND "won't start"". You should try a
    less restrictive search.
    Did you mean: debugger AND ovum AND "won't start"  Again, thanks for reading this? (Am I talking to myself?)

  • SUN Workshop 6U2 Debugger Problem

    Hi,
    I am using SUN Solaris 8 platform for our Application Prog. Development with SUN Forte 6 U2 C Compiler. However after successful build, whenever I am trying to run & debug any of the Application Prog. using SUN Workshop 6U2 dbx tool (using Xterm GUI Env), it is always throwing the following error and getting aborted:
    (dbx) debug - 21314 <-- this is one of our application prog PID
    There might be too many LWP's in this process.
    See `help dbxenv' under mt_scalable.
    dbx: Cannot open lwpstatus.
    detaching from process 21314
    However any of the application prog.s if I run without dbx is running successfully. I also tried to set the dbxenv parameter "mt_scalable" to "on" (which by default is always set to "off") but it didn't work. And I have verified that, all the "lwpstatus" files are there properly in the "/proc/<PID>/lwp/..." path for every process that I tried to debug.
    It would be great if anyone can help me out on how to resolve this issue while trying to use Sun dbx 6.

  • Workshop debugger slow

    Hi,
    I am using Workshup 6 with SunPro CC 5.2. I have what I would consider a
    small multithreaded server application (about 20000 lines of source code),
    which depends on 6 small (about 10000 lines of source code) shared
    libraries. When compiling in debug more with "-g -mt -features=rtti
    -xildoff -lpthread" the applications size is about 44MB, the shared
    libraries have a size of about 10MB each they are build with "-g -mt -PIC
    -xildoff -lpthread". Also the application and shared libraries are using
    templates. Debugging this application is extremely slow when running, and
    when setting breakpoints (minutes range). Frequently the application just
    hangs, and needs to be terminated. There is no load on the application when
    doing this, just a number of threads (about 13) waiting.
    Any ideas how I could speed up this process? Any help would be highly
    appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • URGENT! debugger for debugging java mixed with c Program

    hi,
    i am assigned to do a project to develop a tool which can debug java program
    in which calls to native functions are made .Can anyone give some valuable
    suggestions how to proceed.bye

    thanks for the reply.i went through the suggested
    site but i could'nt
    obtain any implementation issues of such a
    debugger.can u suggest a way
    to implement such a debugger.Well, you have the source for jdb, which is in
    $JAVA_HOME/demo/jpda/examples.jar. This
    is an example of how you control the Java Language
    portions of the debugee (breakpoints, stepping,
    viewing program state, etc...). In order to do
    this, jdb accesses the Java Virtual Machine to look
    up threads, stack frames, local variables, Objects
    in the heap, and so on). jdb does this using the
    Java Debug Interface (JDI), which is described
    here:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/docs/guide/jpda/architecture.html
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/docs/guide/jpda/jdi/index.html
    To add native debugging to this mix, you will need to
    provide similar capabilities when executing native code.
    One example would be setting a breakpoint in a native
    method in the debugee. Later on, what do you do when that
    breakpoint is hit? How do you represent the native stack,
    threads, and other program state? How do you map from a
    machine instruction to the corresponding program source?
    You will also need to keep the two views (Java and native)
    synchronized as execution moves along.
    I suggest you take a look at the source for a native
    debugger to get a feel for what is involved, and then
    think about adding mixed language support to it. One
    example would be the Gnu debugger (gdb), which is available
    here (and on many other mirror sites):
    ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/gdb/index.html

  • Help required: Cannot open pdf using Jasper Report in Weblogic workshop 9.2

    This message was accepted by the [email protected] mailing list. Hi ,
    I am new to jasper reports and I am using them in Java Page Flow in bea workshop 9.2
    In one of my action methods
    ServletOutputStream servletOutputStream = getResponse().getOutputStream();
    InputStream reportStream = getServlet().getServletConfig().getServletContext().getResourceAsStream("/classic.jasper");
    JasperRunManager.runReportToPdfStream(reportStream, servletOutputStream, new HashMap() ,connection);
    getResponse().setContentType("application/pdf");
    servletOutputStream.flush();
    servletOutputStream.close();
    connection.close();
    When I invoke this action method from another page on click of submit , the pdf file opens fine for the first time( first submit) , and then if I click on submit again, it fails to open the pdf with the error message ,
    There was an error opening this document . This file cannot be found.
    Please help me resolve the issue, its urgent.
    Thanx in advance

    Thanks for the reply David. The problem we're having is that when you are in Workshop, there is the option, under the "File" menu to "Refresh" (F5) You sometimes need to do this to refresh your workspace. I'm sorry, I'm not a developer, so I don't know the details behind what that actually does, other than it "refreshes the workspace" so we can pick up the changes made and checked into subversion.
    Without performing this step, you don't always build from the latest and greatest code.
    The problem we're facing is that it seems that you need to be in Workshop to perform this step. There is a scripted way to do the refresh, but it requires you to open Workshop and run the script. What we're trying to accomplish is a truly scripted solution. All the other steps in the build process can be performed without opening Workshop, but because we can't figure out a way to do this one piece, we cannot have an automated build process.

    Hi Rohit Jaiswal
    Thanks rohit for the quick response
    just to understand
    You mean to say " It is not an JVM crash "
    Is that say JVM is having issue with Solaris OS. or crash in OS ?
    We are not using native code in our application .
    if possible elobrate the above .
    we are in process to raise an oracle case
    Reagards,
