C++ RFC server app - problems installing functions.

System: Fresh Netweaver 7 trial on XP machine. No changes made to Netweaver configuration, it's as-installed.
Dev environment: Visual Studio, C++
I'm trying to use the rfc sdk in c++ to create an rfc server that can register functions. I've followed the samples in srfcserv.c that came with the SDK, but I am missing something.
I can connect to netweaver with RfcAcceptExt, and I can install a function with either RfcInstallFunction or RfcInstallFunctionExt. All that goes smoothly. However, that installed function doesn't show up anywhere. If I add a function named "ABC", when I call RFC_FUNCTION_SEARCH no such function is returned in the results. Likewise, if I run transaction SE37 in netweaver, and type "ABC" into the function module box I get the error: "Function module ABC does not exist".
Am I missing something here? Should I be looking somewhere else for the functions I install?

Onone soft has an app to control your camera remotely using your iPod or Ipad. The sotware is in two apps: one app is installed on ios device and the other app is a server app that is installed on the Imac. Your mobil device connects to the camera over a local WiFi. When I take my camera to another location I would need to install the server app on the clients computer in order to remotely trigger my camera. It would be much easier to plug a flash drive in the clients machine with the server app on the drive. It would also allow me to have the Windows version of the server app as well as the Mac version on flash drives.

You need to ask the develper, if all you want to do is transport the app to another computer then you need to ask the developer if this is infringing on any of their licensing which I'm almost certain it is. If you want to try and run it from the flash drive this probably won't work. You need a portable Mac such as a MBP or MBA.

Pages App - Problems installing

I have just purchased the Pages App and have it in my applications but can not seem to be able to open the app. Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on what might be causing this? Thx

Shutdown your Mac. Power it on and at the first chime, press and hold the shift key until you see a grey horizontal progress bar on the screen. Eventually, you will be prompted to login. Before you press return or the arrow button in the password field, press and hold the shift key again, until your Desktop reappears. Now, perform a normal reboot.
The above process has removed and/or rebuilt system cache files, the font cache, and performed a check of your boot drive. You may even feel that your Mac is now more responsive.
Now, press shift+command+A to open the application folder, and double-click Pages to launch it.
You can also single-click on the Pages application icon and drag and drop it down to the Dock. This just creates an alias to the original application, but provides a simpler way of launching Pages with a single-click from the Dock.

How to download older Server.app version?

I have a client that just updated their Mac Mini server to 10.8.5 (previoiusly was running 10.7). They did this update becasue that exact OS version was needed for another app they are running on the machine, but it rendered their 1.5 version of OSX Server non-functional. When going to the Mac App Store the only option it gives us is to buy the Server version 3.x (which requires Mavericks to run). They can not update their machine to Mavericks and instead need to be able to download Server v2.2.2.
How can this be accomplished? In theory they should be able to get it as a free update (they purcahsed the Mac Mini server from apple which came bundled with the Server.app already installed).
I've dug through a bunch of documentation and done quite a few searches on here, but so far but haven't found the solution to this. Not having easy access to previous versions of apps is one HUGE downfall with the App Store.

OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5) and OS X Server (2.2.2) were not free upgrades when they were released I think they cost $19.99 each.
So, you will want to contact Apple Support (800-MY-APPLE -- USA) and see if you can purchase OS X Server 2.2.2. Explain your situation with your client's needs. If you can, then it should cost $19.99 and Apple would supply you with a redemption code you could use to redeem it on the App Store.

Hard Drive low on disk space - What is the process of moving B1 Server App?

The partition the SAP B1 Server App is installed on is running low on disk space. I would like to move the APP from the D:\ to a new, faster, hard disk we have installed.
What is the process for uninstalling and reinstalling the server app to a new partition.
Is there any documentation that outlines this process?
What are concerns I should have for doing this?
Any and all info is appreciated.

Fine. Then Backup the Client Database from SQL Server Management Studio.
Backup the B1_SHR folder from the SAP Server.
Now uninstall SAP B1 from the Server.
Restart the Server and do a Fresh Installation of SAP B1.
Apply for New License Key. Install the License Key after you get from SAP portal.
Upgrade to the Patch similar to that of the Backuped Client DB Patch.
Now create a new company in SAP B1.
Restore the DB which was backed up.
NOTE: I suggest these operations to be done by experienced guys. If you are a SBO Customer, then I recommend you to ask your Implementation Partner to do this exercise.

Server.app does not authenticate network admin users

Running fresh installation of Lion Server 10.7.3. I'm logged in as the original, local, administrator.
I open Server.app and successfully log in to the local machine with the local administrator creditials. I create a networked user allowed to administer the machine. Close Server.app window.
Attempt to log in as the new networked administrator. I get a message about using the server's self-signed certificate. I click accept, then the log-in shakes it head, won't let network admin log-in. Repeated attempts to log in do not show the certificate warning -- the log-in fails every time, though.
Attempt to log is as local admin, works OK.
How to fix?

Hi Stefan, I have the Server app problem here on my Xserve 2009 and it happened after about 14 days of working correctly. No users or groups(850 network) show in the panes other than the two local admin users on the server. The +/- buttons are greyed out also. If you enter some letters for a search in Users/Groups it will actually display the network users containing the letters and eventually it populates the window with network users up to the usual 500+ limit but refresh and they all disappear again. Thinking back before it happened I used WGM to add a new user instead of Server and it was shortly after when the users "disappeared" and the+- buttons greyed out. I dont have much confidence in Server app at the moment and im just glad WGM/SA is still in operation. I agree with Danny_Sch that Server app starts to act strangely after using WGM
WGM acts as usual with all my 850 users showing from the OD and Server admin shows all my services running ok. All users can log in and out fortunately at the moment. This happened initially when I migrated to Lion and I had to use my OD archive demoting and promoting to master to get it to work but I dont want to have to rebuild the whole thing again as we have very limited downtime to do it in a big institution etc. I'm trawling the net looking for a fix but no definitive answer. Has anyone reported this as a bug to Apple I wonder?

Calling JCO RFC Server program from JCO RFC client

I have an RFC registered server program which implements JCO.Server. It seems to be working fine, when called from SAP.
For testing purposes, I was trying to write a JCO client program which would take the place of the SAP client.
This program opens a connection to the RFC server and executes a function e.g.

The RFC server program receives the call fine, when I test with a simple function which has no table parameters. However when I tried a more complex function with table parameters, I get an serverExceptionOccurred from the RFC server program:

Login problem after installing and activating OS X Server app in Yosemite

After installing and activating file sharing on OS X Server on my MacBook Air, the MBA was restarted. At the login screen I enter my password into my account and it directs me to a 'Guest' login screen, asking for a password which I did not create.

Server app v3.01 User Accounts password add/reset/editing functions greyed out

I recently upgraded a Lion server to Mavericks with 1500 users and 450 clients on Xserve early2009 2.26Ghz Quad core Xeon 24GB RAM 32 TB Raid.
        All the upgrade went ok through 10.7 to 10.8 to 10.9 apart from having to rekerberise the realm to get users to log in from various 10.7,10.8,10.9x10) clients . I do not use Profile Manager as yet as I have had lots of faults on test networks etc so I continue to use Workgroup Manager 10.9 and Server app v3.01 now that Server Admin Tools has been discontinued.
        I have noticed however that all my users in Accounts/Server App are not editable such as password resets adding and deleting users etc. If you choose Edit User all the information shows but is greyed out for editing etc.
I still use WorkGroup Manager for adding/editing users and changing passwords which still functions(thank goodness).
        Am I missing something in that I cant edit/add users because I upgraded from a previous directory and OS etc? Do I have to accept the server app wont edit/add users and stick with WGM? Or are there serious underlying faults with my open directory?
         There are also lots of quirks in the File Sharing pane with users hanging on after logging out from clients and duplicates of log ins when they log in again. Today I restarted my server to update the Server app to 3.01 and i got a message saying 361 users were logged in although no users were showing in the File Sharing pane for about 12 hours! Obviously there is some problem with the termination of the log out process in AFP that doesnt take place. Since reboot this morning the memory usage has dramatically decreased so I am waiting to see if the errors return when we get a busy network situation later today.
Anyone had tthese problems or fixed the issues?

Just to update my post I referred to the the brilliant Krypted site to see if anything would help my situation and found this post on resetting the Server.app. I havent had time to try this yet but I'd like others to comment if they try it first:

Don’t mind me, you might just be alright. But then again, you might not… And upgrades that use a migration wizard… Um, when it works it’s a thing of beauty. But when it doesn’t, you might be restoring some stuff from backup. But just before you do that restore, let’s try one more thing. Let’s try and rebuild some certificates and configuration settings that shouldn’t impact actual service operation. Let’s try to reset the Server app and let a fresh install of the Server see if it can fix issues.
Now, I want to be clear, this is the last resort before restoration. I’ve had a lot of luck with services remaining functional and preserving settings when I do this, but don’t expect that. Basically, we’re going to do what we looked at doing back in ’09 with AppleSetupDone but one designed just for servers, so the file is in the same place (/var/db) and called .ServerSetupDone. To remove it, close Server app and run the following command:
sudo rm /var/db/.ServerSetupDone
Once removed, open the Server app again and then let the Server app run as though it’s new. Cruft, begone!"

As you could see, the host I'm connecting is from SAP RAC Service.

Upgrade to 10.9/Server APP 3.0 - Problems with devicemgrd

After upgrading our xserve to 10.9 and Server APP 3.0 the server hangs after some hours, because RAM is full!!!!
The devicemgrd is filling constantly up the RAM and needs about 90% of one of the four cores...
Wiki ist turned off!
What can be the reason for this problem?

Just wanted to follow up on my experience. If you take a look at the thread that I linked to above, you will see the log file and errors listed in it that indicated an issue with the DB data used for the profilemanager. This was exactly the situation I was having, the same error in the same log file indicating the same issue as that thread.
I see that others have been experiencing issues with memory filling up over time as well and those that have applied the same fix I did, but they are still experiencing the same issue. My advice would to investigate the log file listed in that thread and see if you are or ever were having that issue. If not, then that fix won't do much for you.
What I did in order to track down the issue was a combination of Activity Monitor, viewing the memory tab, and using ps ax -v to view which processes were using the most memory. Then I googled issues relating to mavericks memory leaks involving those processes. That ultimately lead me to this thread, and the one that contain the same issue and fix that I needed.
I used Activity Monitor to view the Virtual Memory Usage. I tracked it over time and observed it steadily growing even though no new processes were being started. When I say over time, I mean HOURS worth of time. Also note that Mavericks and most UNIX like OS's will use all available RAM for caching. So the real question isn't if it's using all the RAM, that's normal, the question is does it continue to use climb in usage past the physical memory installed. In my case that is 32GB, my Virtual Memory usage actually rose to 96GB before the system started telling me it needed to pause apps and asking me to force quit. I might add that at this point, I will still able to login via ssh and cleanly reboot the system.
My next step after rebooting was leave all non essential services offline, in my case that was the VMs, plus I wanted to keep from corrupting their filesystems by doing hard shutdowns on them when the host ran out of virtual memory space.
I let the server processes start as normal, then used Activity Monitor and ps ax -v to isolate devicemgrd, google it and here I arrived.
My hope is that you can use some of this trouble shooting to isolate the issues your systems may be having. If you are lucky like me, someone has already isolated the cause and identified the fix. I would have loved to have been the one to come up with the SQL to fix this one, but thankfully I didn't have to experiment on my system, someone already did and was kind enough to share. If you find a fix, please do the same.

Need some help. No where did I see any Warning about installing Mavericks effecting the Server App from functioning. BAD DAYS when I can't access my server settings.
Any assistance on whats going on?

Be mindful that the OS X Server is an add on to the main OS. Going from Snow Leopard to Lion, I had to purchase both the main OS and the Server OS. But when Mt Lion came out, I only needed to purchase the main OS. Same goes with Mavericks, the Server OS can be bought separately.

How to install Server.app on workstation?

I want to install on a Lion Workstation the Server.app to manage another server. I do not want to turn it into a server, but the install seems to want to install "...additional server software." I am just being paranoid?

I think I may have made a mistake and converted my workstation into a "Server". I performed the copy function before reading this post and went through the "installation" process. Even though I can manage my "true" server from my workstation, it bothers me that my workstation is now listed as another "server". It also created the same set of folders as I have in the server; which really bothers me because I've been pretty strict in terms of how I wanted my folder structure to look like in my workstation. Did I just messed things up? Can I uninstall it? Now I am worried that I have a different OS installed in my workstation. Instead of having the "regular" Mac OS X 10.7.3, I now have the Mac OS X Server 10.7.3. Arggghhh!

To check the local network for some of the common configuration problems, launch Terminal.app and issue the following diagnostic command:
sudo changeip -checkhostname
That'll report some local configuration information and then either no errors detected and no changes required, or it'll point to whatever configuration errors or issues it might detect. That doesn't catch everything, but it catches the common errors.
FWIW, 192.168.0.0/24 and 192.168.1.0/24 are poor choices for the local network, as VPNs are based on IP routing and IP routing gets tangled when the same subnet is used on both ends of the VPN. 192.168.0.0/24 and 192.168.1.0/24 are near ubiquitous in home networks and coffee shops.
