Look in the registry, HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{CAFEEFAC...) and you'll find it. I have 1.5.0_06 so can't tell which one _05 uses ;)

  • [q] CAB for International JRE?

    Hello,
    I want my users to download the international JRE so
    a user can select a Locale other than US_english.
    How would I do this?
    F.E. The HTML I use is something like:
    if (_ie == true)
    document.writeln('<OBJECT classid="clsid:CAFEEFAC-0014-0001-0000-ABCDEFFEDCBA" width="2" height="2" codebase="http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/autodl/jinstall-1_4_1-windows-i586.cab#Version=1,4,1,0"><NOEMBED><XMP>');
    else if (_ns == true && _ns6 == false) document.writeln('<EMBED type="application/x-java-applet;jpi-version=1.4.1" CODE = "Init.class" ARCHIVE = "Init.jar"
    WIDTH = "2" HEIGHT = "2" scriptable=false pluginspage="http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/index.html#download"><NOEMBED><XMP>');
    Can I change the cab and/or clsid to download the JRE with all language
    support? Without this, it should be obvious that i18n is impossible...
    Thanks.

    The following is currently working for us to get the "all languages"/i18N CAB for 1.4.1_01, whilst allowing any Plug-in from 1.3.1 upwards to be used, if already installed:
    <OBJECT classid="clsid:8AD9C840-044E-11D1-B3E9-00805F499D93"
    codebase="http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/autodl/jinstall-1_4-windows-i586.cab#Version=1,3,1,0"
    width="100%" height="100%">
    This is the "hypothetical" URL documented in:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/docs/guide/plugin/developer_guide/using_tags.html
    Dumping the system properties ('s') in the Java console shows, for example, "user.country=GB", which is correct in my case. I certainly hope the resulting Plug-in installation is Internationalised!
    However we have some other problem with CAB URLs, as noted for example at:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=30&thread=333219
    Cheers.

  • Automatic Update - deployment.properties problems with JRE 1.6.0_05

    Hi!
    This is a Automatic Updated daisable problem.
    I have change the update policy values in the registry but still have one more problem:
    I want to deploy JRE 1.6.0_05, in earlier versions ie 1.4 there has been a windows\sun\java\deployment where the initian deployment.properties file is located. But in the 1.6.X ther is no such folder and the deployment.properies file is still "copied" when you start ie "javacpl.exe" . I would like to disable the
    choice "Download JRE automatically" in the javacpl.exe to "Never download..." but the initial choice when the file deployment.properties is created is "alway download..." .
    Am I still save only with the registry key changes, or do I have to change the value in the deployment.properies and if so, where is the "original" copy that copies the file into C:\Document and Settings\[user]\Application data\Sun\Java\Deployment\
    kindly,
    manekin...

    Hey lynchmob,
    Try these steps to correct the problem, you need to be logged in as an administrator:
    1. Go to the group policy editor. You can get they by typing gpedit.msc into the Run dialog.
    2. Navigate to computer configuration->administrative templates->windows components->internet explorer.
    3. Disable "make proxy settings per-machine (rather than per-user)".
    4. Login with the user account and go to Internet Options.
    5. Go to the Connection tab.
    6. Click on the Lan Settings button.
    7. You may notice that the proxy settings are not correct. Change the proxy settings to be whatever is required for your proxy.
    8. Configure Java to use browser proxy settings.
    9. Open the java console.
    10. Set debug level to 5.
    11. Press 'p' to reload proxy settings. Use the trace messages to verify correct proxy settings were loaded.

  • Sun Java Console & Applets don't display properly on JRE 1.5.0_05

    Duplicate Post as it was equally relavant to this forum: [http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=666689&tstart=0 ]
    Hi,
    We have a signed applet based application hosted on weblogic server. We are trying to launch the application on IE 6.0, JRE 1.5.0_05.
    When we try to see the Sun Java Console from IE's Tools Menu bar, we don't see any text in the window and also the side bars & buttons ("clear", 'copy", "close") are not rendered properly. Now if we, try to bring the focus to text area of Sun Java Console, and try to select all (Ctrl+A), we only see some text selected, but not what it is. Now if we copy the text onto the notepad, we can see the text.
    Next, when we try to launch the signed applet based application, we get the security warning, where only we can see the dialogue box and not the text or buttons. By randomly clicking on this security dialogue, if we hit on yes, the Applet based application is launched. The UI is totally off color; either you see some widgets on application partially or totally blackened or in different colors. Application basically looks to be in chaos.
    This behavior is not observed in any of the previous JRE versions, i.e. JRE 1.5.0_04 or any previous versions. Interesting part is after uninstalling JRE 1.5.0_05, if we install 1.5.0_04; problem persists, but not in JRE 1.4.
    We have observed the same behavior on number of machines. Is it a known issue? Whats the reason & solution?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Vinayak

    When we try to see the Sun Java Console from IE's
    Tools Menu bar, we don't see any text in the window
    and also the side bars & buttons ("clear", 'copy",
    "close") are not rendered properly. I suspect you're running into graphics issues. Perhaps java5 is trying to optimize too much, and you have older or buggy Windows drivers.
    Try:
    * getting the latest graphics drivers for your hardware from your vendor and installing them.
    If that doesn't work, try
    * putting options like "-Dsun.java2d.noddraw" in the Java Control Panel as the default VM options for your Java.
    That's actually a bit aggressive - you can start with, say, "-Dsun.java2d.d3d=false" or "-Dsun.java2d.ddoffscreen=false" (each of these is less drastic than noddraw).
    Then make sure you quit all IEs, and restart one.

  • How to set the default language for JRE?

    I appreciate the fact that JRE is intelligent enough to select language according to my system default codepage, which is 936 (Simplified Chinese). However, i don't find any option in java control panel or java.exe command line switch to change the codepage for Java back to 437 (which is the default codepage for US english). Is there any way to make the change?

    Thanks, finally i have a way to eliminate Chinese characters in console output. But I'd like to go one step further. Is there any way to permanently set the default encoding for JRE? I don't like the idea of having to add -Dfile.encoding every time i run a java program.

  • Where are proxy settings stored for JRE 6

    Where are the http proxy settings stored for JRE 6? I am trying to figure out how to centrally manage these settings for a large number of computers. I have heard about the deployment.properties file, however changing this file is not changing my proxy settings.
    Thanks for you help.

    Hi All,
    Thanks for the info.  I think this is what I need, but I opened the Javascript console and pasted in the code and nothing happened.
    (Programming, javascript, etc are not my area of expertise. My core competency is writing/editing.)
    What else do I need to do to make the Console recognize and respond that line of code?

  • How do I get my missing Setupfiles\acrobat.ENV\data1.cab  for my acrobat 7.0 pro?

    How do I get my missing Setupfiles\acrobat.ENV\data1.cab  for my acrobat 7.0 pro?

    I am assuming you either lost your installation CD or did not backup your download of AA 7.  As long as you registered with Adobe, they may be able to help you, but I am guessing they will tell you to upgrade -- that the AA7 package is no longer available. Don't forget that is an old package at this point and is no longer supported by Adobe. If you know someone with the CD, you may be able to recover the file that way and then reinstall with your license key.

    It says sometime in Aug, 05 (more than a year)

    Is it true that Sun microsystem has scheduled end of life for JRE 1.3.1 by Aug, 05?

    The policy is to support the current shipping version plus two back versions but when EOL is announced on a major product family, Sun will provide support for a subsequent 1.5 year period.

  • Version Checking Methods for JRE

    Hi,
    I am trying to ascertain how the version checking mechanisms for JRE interoperate. I am aware of 2 methods that Java/JRE uses to check the Client Version JRE
    Method 1 – Non Static Version Checking on the JRE Client Side
    Method 2 – Class ID Version Checking on the Web Server Side
    Q1. If a JRE Client connects to a Web Server that requires a specific version of JRE, then the client pc will be prompted to download that JRE version ?
    Q2. However if the client already has a later JRE version installed and Non Static Versioning is enabled on the client, then the later JRE version will be used ? I presume in this case the client is not prompted to download JRE ?
    Q3. Alternatively if the appsweb.cfg on the Web Server is using a Family CLSID ( or even a Dynamic CLSID for that matter ) and the Client already has installed a JRE version in that class, again I presume the Client will use this and the client will not be prompted to download JRE ?
    Q4. Does anyone know where the latest Class Id’s for the various JRE versions are listed ? Oracle Note 290807.1 seems to list them. However the link it has to the latest JRE version points you to JRE 1.8.0_40, yet the Class Ids that the same note lists, does not go as far as that version ( it seems to only list up to JRE 1.8.0_31 ). I presume you could guess the Clas Id for Update 40, given the entries for the other versions i.e.
    clsid : CAFEEFAC-0018-000-0040-ABCDEFFEBCBA
    sun_plugin_version=1.8.0_40
    Is the above correct ?
    Any advice greatly appreciated,
    Jim

    Sounds exactly like a dns timeout issue.

  • Classid or clsid for JRE/JDK

    Hi everybody
    I need to get classid or clsid for JRE/JDK 1.6.0_23
    Does JRE & JDK have same classid?
    I know that classid for 1.4.2_06 is CAFEEFAC-0014-0002-0006-ABCDEFFEDCBA
    Can someone help me?
    Thanks in advance
    Oscar

    Your question is not exactly clear. " +Does JRE & JDK have same classid?+ " The JRE or Java Runtime Environment has a related CLSID recorded in the Windows Registry so that requests from other applications can call out to the JRE and generally start a jave app. The JDK or Java Development Kit is a set of development tools used to create java applications. You can't "run" the kit. The JDK does include an optional JRE, but you must ensure that you select the option to install it during the installation prompts. This JRE would essentially be the same as if you just installed a stand-alone JRE
    How to derive the CLSID number is explained here:
    http://docs.oracle.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/plugin/developer_guide/using_tags.html#object
    Example:
    JRE 1.6.0_23 would be: CAFEEFAC-<font color="red"><b>0016</b></font>-<font color="red"><b>0000</b></font>-<font color="red"><b>0023</b></font>-ABCDEFFEDCBA

  • Can someone tell me the classid of jre 1.5.0_05 used for static versioning

    I need to identify the jre installed on my machine using object tag. For this i need the static classid of the corresponding jre

    Look in the registry, HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{CAFEEFAC...) and you'll find it. I have 1.5.0_06 so can't tell which one _05 uses ;)

  • Autodownload JRE 1.5.0_05

    I'd like to require that users of our app are running jre1.5.0_05, which includes a bug fix that we'd like to incorporate in our app. I've tried to request that version via the <j2se> tag, but apparently its not available (nor is _04, or _03).
    <j2se version="1.5.0_05" href="http://java.sun.com/products/autodl/j2se"/>
    I've tried "1.5.0_05-05b" (the string returned from java -fullversion), as well as "1.5.0_04" and "_03". If I only specifiy 1.5.0, I seem to get 1.5.0_02.
    Is there a way to automatically download a later version of the jre? Do I need to write my own download handler? Is there a way to see a list of the available jres at the sun autodl url?
    Thanks,
    Paul Christmann

    Then I'm confused. I've tried using those urls to
    get 1.5.0_03, but I still get the same launch
    exception. I've tried both of these:
    <j2se version="1.5.0_03"
    3" href="http://java.sun.com/update/1.5.0"/>
    and
    <j2se version="1.5.0_03"
    3"
    href="http://java.sun.com/update/1.5.0/jinstall-1_5_0_
    03-windows-i586.cab"/>
    Neither work. (And how would that latter one work
    for non-windows jre downloads?)It won't. Note that the autodl is only for Windows:
    Detect if Java Web Start is installed
    If so, launch the application.
    If not, detect if user is running IE on Window.
    If so, provide link to a page that can auto-install the JRE for Windows
    If not, provide a link to the general download page for the JDK/JRE. >
    Is there another syntax I should use? What exactly
    should I put for the version and href value if I want
    to use 1.5.0_03?
    The page that I found this list of URLs linked from
    (http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/javaws/deve
    lopersguide/launch.html) describes these urls as what
    to use to download a jre as a .cab file for windows
    only as part of an <object> tag in an html doc. That
    particular use isn't what I want - though that is far
    from a definitive statement that they aren't the
    right urls. I just can't get them to work.
    These are a different set of URLs than are described
    in the JNLP File Syntax docs
    (http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/javaws/deve
    lopersguide/syntax.html#resources) references
    http://java.sun.com/products/autodl/j2se. I can get
    the correct behavior with 1.5.0_02 at that url (just
    nothing besides than that version):
    <j2se version="1.5.0_02"
    2" href="http://java.sun.com/products/autodl/j2se"/>
    I can't shed any further light on the availability or non-availability if different jJava versions except to note that this page you reference:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/javaws/developersguide/launch.html
    has a link to the autodl list I provided (in the 2nd yellow Note box), and that you have to use an object tag and download a .cab file to do this, and that it works only for Windows.
