CacheAsBitmap: screen-res ( meaning post container transforms) or not?
Here is a question I'd love to find the answer to:
1. Suppose you have a Sprite which contains a shape instance within.
2. The sprite is scaled down ( let's say 50% ), and added to the stage, but the shape it contains is left unscaled.
3. Now, if the shape has CAB enabled, is the cached bitmap rendered at the final screen res, post container transforms ( in this case, the cached bitmap would be 50% smaller than the shape ), OR Is the cached bitmap rendered at 100% the size of the shape, and then downsampled when it is drawn onto the screen?
...why is this relevant?
For example:
A) IF it turns out that cached bitmaps resulting from CAB are screen-res ( post all container transforms ), then it might make sense to set CAB to true even on a Bitmap instance, if one of its parent containers is scaled up or down ( so as to minimize the resampling effort, every time the bitmap is drawn to the screen ).
B) In the earlier example, with the unscaled shape within a scaled sprite, IF it turns out that cached bitmaps resulting from CAB are NOT screen-res ( meaning NOT post container transforms), then it might be advantageous to move the shape out of its container and apply the 50% scaling on it directly ( again, to minimize the resampling effort required to draw the cached bitmap onto the screen ).

After successful install, all my adobe cc docs, when open, change pointer arrow, i-beam and window elements to oversize. When doc closes all return to normal size. I'm on a PC. Screen res set to medium 1920x1200. Any ideas how to fix?
Ok thanks Linxup I would recommend posting in the respective forums for each of those software titles as opposed to the Creative Cloud Download & Install forum. The relevant forums are as follows:

BPM error:Container element in step transformation is not initialized
Hello Experts,
I am new to the concept of BPM.
I'm trying to create an integration process in which I'm taking an Idoc and processing it in many ways. The process contains many transformation steps. There two such transformation steps which have been placed in block step in a fork. And i get this error: Container element XXX in step transformation is not initialized
What could be the problem?
Regards,
AkhilHi
if u are getting the messaga with red sigh then it means it will craete the error while running the scenario.
but if it is in blue then i think it will not create any error.
the meaning of that statement is that the container u have defind is not used anywhere. it is just giving u a warning message.
Thanks

300 dpi images turn fuzzy when export as interactive or screen res pdf
Hi, my print brochure is fine, sharp, linked etc. But when I try to export as interactive pdf or screen res pdf, for online purposes, my clean logos and pix turn nasty. Do I need to change them individually to 72dpi and change them to rgb (i thought the export process did this automatically)? Thanks in advance to any answers.
If you choose File > Export > Adobe PDF (Interactive), the default is 72 ppi, but you can set it to a higher value. All images will automatically be convert to RGB, with, I believe, an sRGB profile, according to Dov.

hi all i desgined some pages (using the same template cause
im lazy!!!!) in 1280 x 1024 screen res if veiwed in this res its
fine but if viewed in a lower res it all goes out of place so to
speak any simple ways of resolving this???

www.bagonroll.co.uk www.refusesacks.org.uk
any help would be appreciated.> any simple ways of resolving this???
Not really. The page must be built from the ground up to fit
in the lowest
expected browser viewport size (screen resolution is really
NOT the variable
you need to consider).
Your nearly identical pages are built in flexible tables -
<table width="105%" border="0" cellspacing="0"
cellpadding="4">
(why 105%?)
and are resizing just the way you have told them to.

I just bought a Dell Precision M3800 laptop - screen res 3840 x 2160 when I open photoshop the task bar and tools and layers etc are in 4pts size I changed my % in my image in my control panel and if I go to open file the drop down boxes are in good pt sizes how do I make the layers and tool bars bigger? Please help@
Windows will scale applications display or windows will not scale application display depending on how the application is coded. Photoshop is coded in a way that its display is not scaled by windows. Photoshop knows about your displays high pixel count not its resolution so it uses its pixels however it does not scale its UI to make it usable on your display. Other application let Windows scale their display output. For example Microsoft default for is Surface Pro 3, 216 ppi display is to scale applications display up 150% so the surface pro 3 display which has 2160x1440 pixels a 216 ppi resolution look like at display with the user is using with 1440x960 pixels. The Application works like the display is 1440x960 and Windows scale those pixels to the displays using the displays 2160x1440 pixels the effectively changing it resolution to 144ppi rather than the actual 216ppi.
The reg update and external manifest file effectively tells photoshop its working on such a size display display some number of pixel wide and some number photoshop uses that as the display size in turn Windows scale those pixels to use the displays 2160x1440 pixels efector lowing its 216ppi resolution. Photoshop CC 2014 2X UI would be like using windows 200% option applications would be shown the are working on a display 1080x720 instead of the Surface Pro 3 2160x1440. Note that 1080x720 does not meet PS requirement of 1024x768. Photoshop UI would not fit on the Surface Pro 3 display..
Since you have a 4k display if you have CC 2014 you can use its 2x UI effectively Photoshop will be running on a 1920x1080 display and have half the resolution of you 4K display 3840x2160 pixels four native pixels are use as a single pixel. 1920x1080 pixels exceed PS requirement. -
I have firefox installed on two computers. The desktop does not show the split screen, but the laptop does. I have checked the posts and I do not have fox splitter add-on but still get the split screen when I click on a second site.
Right-click that bookmark and select '''Properties''', then un-check the preference for '''Load this bookmark in the sidebar''', and then click Save.
Using JavaScript buttons on web pages for "Bookmark this Page" causes that preference to be selected when saving the bookmark in that manner. So, don't use those buttons, use the "Bookmark this Page" feature that is built into Firefox instead. -
Can't use preference with screen res at 800 by 600 after upgrading to 7
After updating to iTunes7 the prefrence window no longer fits on the screen with screen res set to 800 by 600. I can navagate and change things in the preference but then I can't clich OK to apply the changes.
I was just wondering if this is very common?
It's not that big of a deal to change screen size.... it's not like I change preferences every day, just after setting up.Thanks, that worked. I appreciate your help. My res is set at 800 by 600 and this is the first time I've had a problem where I could not see the OK and Cancel buttons even after moving the preferences box as high as it will go. I guess it has something to do with the upgrade. Do you know if I change to a higher res, is there a way to make the visible screen fill up the monitor?

The previous threads about screen resolutions have been about solaris using a very low resolution like 640x400, my problem is the opposite. The default resolution is 1920x1400 and I cant see shit cause everything is so small and theres annoying flickering.
Now I used to have Solaris 10 3/05 and everything was fine and dandy in that, but then I installed Solaris 10 1/06.
When I try to change the screen resolution using the java desktop widget the refresh rate is 0Hz and I get knocked back to the login screen whenever I try to lower the resolution.
Where is the default screen refresh values stored?
Ive looked for xorg.conf, but no such thing exists besides a .xorg.conf which doesnt contain any of the screen resolutions that show up in the widget (640x400 all the way up to 1920x1400)
Ive tried running xorgconfig, but my mouse always go funny so Id like to edit the default settings and correcting the refresh values. Some forum this is since I keep answering my own questions all the time.
I copied the /etc/X11/.xorg.conf to /etc/X11/xorg.conf and changed

Hi i have an ipod A1099 but it doesn´t want to work, when I try to charge it, its present the apple on the screen and then post a message saying to visit apple support. Please help me, I don´t want to loose my ipod.
Hi thenicegirl07,
It sounds like your Click Wheel iPod is showing a sad iPod icon. If it will go into Disk Mode you may be able to restore it, take a look at the article and quote below for more information about the alert and possible resolutions.
iPod displays a sad iPod icon
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1373
Resolution
In most cases, the sad iPod icon indicates a hardware issue. If you are able to force iPod into Disk Mode, then it may not be a hardware issue, and you should try to restore your iPod with the latest software.
If you cannot force your iPod into disk mode and restore it, then your iPod is in need of service. Set up an iPod Service Request or make a reservation at the Genius Bar before visiting your local Apple Retail Store. To make a reservation:
Go to http://www.apple.com/retail/storelist/.
Choose an Apple Store location.
Click the Reserve link under Genius Bar.
Choose iPod.
Select your desired reservation date and time.
For an easy to follow QuickTime movie, view the Troubleshooting & Extras section of the iPod Tutorials atwww.apple.com/support/ipod/tutorial.

Hey Arch Forums, absolute n00b here. I installed grub and put it so that my screen res on arch was 1024x768. When i installed gnome onto it, the res went down to i think 800x600. So how do i fix this? I am really sorry for asking this question, i know it sounds really bad, but i can't find an answer
If it helps i'm running arch through virtualbox, and running this on a x64 systemAre you able to specify a resolution to virtualbox itself? If not, then try finding the GNOME resolution switcher. I don't use GNOME but I know that it should have that built-in.
If all else fails, try `xrandr -s 1024x768`
Obviously, you'll need xrandr for it to work. -
No option on HP Envy 15 (UK version) for 1920 X 1080 screen res. Why not?
I've been a customer for quite some time and my last HP laptop has served me for the last 6 years. I'm very impressed by HP's latest efforts with the HP Envy 15; a modern looking laptop with the most powerful CPU available. However, they pair this with a 1366 X 768 resolution - currently the only option available in the UK. As a developer, this is unusable for me as there simply isn't enough screen real-estate.
Questions:
1) Is the Doctor Dre edition going to available in the UK (with a 1920 X 1080 screen res)?
2) Will their be an option on screen size in the UK?
PS: I'd buy the laptop today - no joke - if I could get the HP Envy 15 with a 1920 X 1080 screen res (I'd love to receive a call from HP :-)Same here. When I asked the question on the Contact HP page, I got no response.
Why do we get the cut down screen, when you can't even buy it with that screen in the US?

White screen with flashing folder containing a question mark
I attempted to boot my MacBook and it is now only showing a white screen with a folder containing a question mark. I have only had the MacBook for less than 3 months. Help!!!!
There are four general causes of this issue:
1. The computer's PRAM no longer contains a valid startup disk setting when there aren't any problems with the disk itself. This can be checked for by pressing the Option key and seeing if the drive appears.
2. The internal drive's directory structure has become damaged. This requires usage of an alternate bootable system to perform the repair.
3. Critical system files have been deleted. This requires usage of an alternate bootable system to reinstall them.
4. The internal drive has died or become unplugged. This is the most likely case if the computer took a sharp impact or there are unusual sounds coming from its location.
