Caching Problem in Safari

Hi,
Even when we deployed the new files in our testing server, our application running on Safari browser is not picking up the newly deployed files rather its loading the old file. The file which is not loading is a .js file(JavaScript file). We tried to clear cache by the following ways
1. Reset Safari option in File menu.
2. Empty Cache option in File menu.
3. Deleting Cookies from Preferences ---> Security ----> Cookies
4. Clear History from History tab.
5. Library --> Caches ---> Deleted all the physical cached files.
6. Restarted the Machine.
Still its not picking the new file.
Is there any other thing we can do to clear the cache and to load the new file.
Thanks in advance.
  Mac OS X (10.4.2)

Many times this is caused by your ISP serving from
cached files.
You should be able to "force" a fresh page load by
adding a question mark (?) to the end of the URL.
Thanks - this had me mystified...

  • IP Cache problem with Safari when browsing from Google

I've been experiencing what appears to be an ARP Cache corruption problem when using Safari. It typically occurs when I've been browsing links off of a Google Search page. Tonight's specific example is where www.youtube.com is now resolved to wikipedia.com's ip address. The only way to fix the problem (short of a reboot) is to shut down the network interface and then restart (after waiting a few seconds)
This normally fixes the problem (which is why I think its the ARP cache.)

This sounds like it could be related to a problem between Safari 5's DNS prefetching and your router. It may be possible that your router is scrambling DNS replies. Could you try manually entering a known good DNS server like OpenDNS into your network prefs?

  • Cache problems with Safari

I am using a G4 powerbook running OS 10.4.10 and Safari 2.0.4. My home page is My Yahoo which contains a number of links to news articles. After reading a link and hiting the back button to return to My Yahoo, I usually get an day or two old version of My Yahoo which reaquires a resume button hit to get the correct date. I presume this is an old cached version of My Yahoo. How can I get Safari to cache the current page and return to it?

    Hi
Cache problems can either be driven by a cache file that needs to be emptied or trashed.
The former is done by going to the Safari Menu>Empty Cache. The latter requires you go to the Finder: HD>Users>Your User Account>Library>Caches. There, move the Safari folder to the trash and restart Safari.
Try the first suggestion. If no relief, then the second.
Let me know how you make out.

  • Safari Cache problem

    Hi all,
I have a problem with Safari, that has recently started. I will be on the web, and my Gmail will stop working, and when i refresh it, it loads a page that says "Bad request 400", and my Facebook logs me out. When I empty my cache it's fine, and everything works, but as you can imagine, emptying my cache every day when Safari randomly stops working is quite annoying.
    Thanks,
    Mncheeseboy

    Hello,
Try a disk utility that you can do maintenance with at least once a week. Onyx is free and available here: Onyx for Leopard
You aren't alone with login issues with Facebook on Safari. The alternative is to use Firefox which you can download here: Mozilla Firefox

  • Safari problems w/java, reading sites & cache problems.

A recently upgraded to Tiger about the time lots of people in discussions reported problems with Safari & Yahoo Mail. From what I can read it's something to do with changes at Yahoo & Java within Safari. I'm having trouble using Safari & my work site. After nearly a month working with IT, it boils down to the way Safari/Java are working. Yesterday Apple Care had me reinstall Tiger after trying to determine what software updates I had done. Checking to see if I'd installed the lasted Java updates. For some reason the update list showed only 2004 items. They had me reinstall Tiger, download all the updates again. That changes the update list although it didn't change the original problem with my job site working. So I have to use FireFox now.
However, no matter what I do I can not clear the cache. What I want to do is clear the addresses that are saved in the web addess list. I thought clearing the cache, resetting Safari and dumping the history would clear the address list. Yet, the list is still there. Any hints on how to do that?
Not sure if that would effect the way a web site is opened, but there should no reason I can't clear the web sites visited.
Any help for a newbie is greatly appreciated

    ibosie:
Thx for the reply. Iv only been a Mac user for a year so something are somewhat new. One thing I don't always know the right term when explaining things. I checked about 25% of the addresses in the address field that come up as I type. Some web addresses I haven't used in months & months. So it can't really be an issue related to what's saved in bookmarks. What is even stranger is that they are still there at all. I clear the cache, reset Safari, clear cookies usually every 2-3 days if not daily. Yet, all those web addresses are still there. Am I right in saying that the addresses saved is the cache?
The webmaster for my employer seems to think that one reason I can no longer view the company site might be the cache. That instead of pulling info from the recently changed programme the computer is trying to pull info from on old link saved in the computer. In any case I don't under stand why those saved addressed won't remove.
    Any ideas?

Empty the Safari cache more often.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select:  Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now click Develop from the menu bar. From the drop down menu click Empty Caches.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

  • Problems with Safari in vista

I'm having some problems with Safari in Vista.
I recently wiped my hard drive, and reinstalled Windows. Anyway reinstalling programs and I've come into a problem.
When I open Safari it gets stuck loading. It does this with any site.
All my other browsers work fine, and even with the firewall and stuff turned off it won't work. It worked fine before, but now it just won't do anything. Not even a page won't display thing.
It just gets stuck. Anyone know how to get it to work? Thanks.

Is java 1.6.0.3 latest version installed?
have you tried removing the two user folders that Safari uses to store prefs, bookmarks, history and cache in? (don't delete, just rename or move aside).
For now, FF 3.0A is probably a better choice until later anyway. There are WebKit latest builds, but I don't know how to use or install those in Windows, but would be 10-19-2007 of the core foundation Safari uses.

  • Wierd problem with SAFARI

    OS X 10.10
    Safari 8.0
I have this really weird problem:
When my MBP is connected at work with ethernet, all is good.
When I go home and connect my MBP through WiFi, Safari doesn't work.
It will simply not be able to connect to anything.
EVERYTHING ELSE works (iMessage, Mail, etc.)
    Not Safari.
    And : FIREFOX works.
So I starting looking around in the preferences... anything related to the network brings my to SYSTEM PREFS > NETWORKS and everything is adequately configured there.
I couldn't find how to "RESET" Safari since version 8.0 but I still did that "CLEAN HISTORY AND COOKIES" option, specifying EVERYTHING.
    It didn't help.
Do you guys have any idea how to fix this weird thing ??

Go step by step by step and test.
    1. Power off the router. Unplug it from the wall. Wait a while.
Plug it back to the wall. Power the router on. Wait until all the lights are lit properly. It will take a while.
        Restart the computer.
        Start up in Safe Mode.
        http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14204
    2. Delete Caches.db
Close all windows and quit all applications.
Hold "option" key down and click "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.
        Select "Library" from the dropdown.
        Library > Caches > com.apple.Safari > Caches.db
Right click the Caches.db file and select "Move To Trash.
        Close windows and relaunch Safari.
    3. Empty Caches
        Safari > Preference > Advanced
Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.

How do I fix problem that safari can't open because of too many redirects?

Try clearing the browser cache and delete any cookies for that site. If that doesn't resolve it, then that's a problem with the web-site itself, so unless it is your own website, you can't fix it.
Often it's a bug in the website code that detects what device/browser you are using and it gets stuck in a re-direct loop. You could contact the website developers and inform them.

  • Problem with safari loading unselected pages

I've been having some problems in safari associated with pages loading that weren't selected. I don't believe that any of the pages that I end up on are actually links on the pages I was on. It happens when I'm reading in google reader or in Yahoo reading some of their top stories. I usually end up on a "select a survey question", I am able to hit the back button and get back to the page, but then it will try and forward to the same page I just left.
I've emptied cache, reset safari, ran the disk utility repair, and while it's an infrequent occurance it happens often enough that I want to fix it.

    Good... you're up to date.
I think this may be more of a Google Reader issue then Safari. Try the troubleshooting help here.

  • Problems w/ Safari 5.0 Since Installation

I have had ongoing problems with Safari ever since I installed v5.0. For most websites (even the ones I check multiple times per day), Safari "can't find server" after loooonnnng period of trying, but retry is almost always successful. (Yes, I've emptied cache, too many times to count. It doesn't help.) I've used Safari for years, have never had a problem with it until now. Yet the discussions on this board don't seem to address my problem -- it doesn't crash, it just fails to find servers. Any ideas?

Adding Open DNS codes to your Network Preferences, should give good results in terms of speed-up as well as added security:
If you are using a single computer: Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu, and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' add the following two numbers:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(You can also enter them if you click on Advanced and then DNS)
Sometimes reversing the order of the DNS numbers can be beneficial in cases where there is a long delay before web pages start to load, and then suddenly load at normal speed:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2296
If your computer is part of a network: please refer to this page: http://www.opendns.com/start/bestpractices/#yournetwork and follow the advice given.
You could also try these codes as well: 4.2.2.1 & 4.2.2.2
You should also try resetting your router.

  • Audio playback problems in Safari since Mavericks upgrade

I've been having intermittent audio problems in Safari ever since upgrading to Mavericks on my iMac.
Google Play Music doesn't make any sound at all in Safari. Works fine in Firefox.
Downloading audio clips/mp3 playback in Safari has intermittent clicks/pops & sounds terrible.
Tried installing latest version of Flash player...no help.
Everything used to be fine before upgrading to Mavericks.
    What gives?

I did the following and got it working again....unfortunately, I'm not sure which action specifically fixed the problem, because I did a few at the same time.
    From Google Support:
"Alternatively, you may enable HTML 5 audio without the need for flash by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right corner and selecting 'Music Labs'. From here, you may click the radial 'Enabled' button to the right of the HTML 5 description.(Note: You must be using Chrome, Safari 3.1+ or IE 9+)
Clearing your browser's history and cache has been reported as solving this issue."
    Works fine now.
Note: Although Google Play Music is working now, MP3 audio playback directly through the Safari browser still sounds clicky/poppy. This issue doesn't happen when using Firefox.

  • Download cache problem...

I am having a recurring problem with Safari (and other browsers) were I will download an update of a bit of software (Like recently it happened with Onyx and Amazing Slow Downer) and because each release of the software have the same name i.e OnyX.dmg, my browsers are grabbing the previous versions! I think that the cache must be getting confused because the new release have the same names as the old.
It may also be because I downloaded older versions from version tracker who I believe keep links to older versions - whereas each of the developer sites for the software i mention above seem to only have up the most recent version of the software on their sites. Even if i try to download the software from the developers site, the cache will see that it has the same name as an older .dmg on version tracker and download it. This problem usually sorts itself out after a week or so, but it is really starting to annoy me!!!
I have tried clearing safari's cache, resetting safari, tried brand new browsers that iv never used before, and i have also tried using onyx to clear all of my computers caches etc, but i continue to experience this problem on a regular basis!!
Could anyone offer up any advice?
    Thanks

    Hi MajorTom,
I am having a recurring problem with Safari (and other browsers)...were I will download an update of a bit of software my browsers are grabbing the previous versions!
    Odd.
It may also be because I downloaded older versions from version tracker who I believe keep links to older versions - whereas each of the developer sites for the software i mention above seem to only have up the most recent version of the software on their sites.
Are you sure you have chosen the most recent version from the dropdown menu on VT? Have you tried MacUpdate, or as you suggest next, the developer site?
So I suspect that even if i try to download the software from the developers site, the cache will see that it has the same name as an older .dmg on version tracker and download it. This problem usually sorts itself out after a week or so, but it is really starting to annoy me!!!
Try this, create a new account, name it "test" and see how your downloads work in that User acct? (That will tell if your problem is systemwide or limited to your User acct.) This account is just for test, do nothing further with it.
Open System Preferences >> Accounts >> "+" make it an admin account. Try a download in Safari first.
Let us know and we'll troubleshoot this further.

If you have any, they'd be in that folder, in either your User directory or your root directory. If you have no such folders, then you have no Input Managers and they wouldn't be the cause of the problem.
In that case, I'd suggest going to Users/Username/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari and deleting the contents of that folder, then locking the folder via the Get Info window.
Then go to Users/Username/Library/Safari and delete these files:
    Downloads.plist
    History.plist
    LastSession.plist
Restart Safari and see if things improve.
If not, then the last thing I would suggest is downloading Onyx (http://www.titanium.free.fr/index_us.html) for your version of Mac OS X; install and launch it, select Automation, then select "Maintenance Scripts" and under Cache, select "System" and "User" (or "System and Kernel"), depending on options what your version gives you. Uncheck everything else and click the Execute button. Restart your Mac when it's done, then test Safari again.

  • Website problems in Safari - half loaded / blank pages

I'm having problems with my website - http://kevadamson.com - in Safari (4) on both Mac (10.5.8) and PC (Vista) (Version 4). I have asked my fellow web developer and programmer colleagues what they think, without finding a reason for the problems.
    *Problems as follows:*
= Pages often load with missing images (both and CSS background images)
= Pages often do not load at all - displaying just a blank page
= Pages often load with failed JavaScript elements
    *I have checked the following:*
= Other browsers and it works fine (IE6/7/8, FF3.5, Chrome, Opera 10)
= Disabling CSS and JavaScript, and I still get the same issues
    = Re-installing Safari
= Asked others to check on their machines (Mac and PC) and they see the same problems
= Choosing different options from user agents list - still get same problems
    *Other info:*
= The server is Apache 2
    = XHTML transitional and CSS3
    Anyone have any thoughts?

Don't mess around with reinstalling Safari; that's not the problem at all. Instead, try this:
    1. Quit Safari if it's running.
    2. Go to Home/Library/Preferences and delete the com.apple.Safari.plist file.
    3. Go to Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari and delete the contents of that folder.
    4. Go to Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Web Page Previews and delete the contents of that folder.
    5. Go to Home/Library/Caches/Metadata/Safari and delete the contents of that folder.
    6. Go to Home/Library/Caches/Safari and delete the contents of that folder.
Then Repair Permissions, restart Safari, reset its preferences and see if the problem continues.
