Calendar: Start week on Sunday, like in OSX 10.5.8

Calendar: How do I Start my week on Sunday, like in OSX 10.5.8 ?

who says British calendars start on Monday? Someone isolated in Cupertino?
Nope, nothing to do with Cupertino.
The International Organization for Standardization, in ISO 8601, defines the week as being Monday to Sunday. The British Standards Institution agrees, as do European Standards.
So, Apple are just following international, European and British agreed standards.

If they had been holding their breath, they'd be dead by now and obviously not paying attention. I suspect Apple hasn't fixed it because, from Apple's point of view, nothing is broken. Have you submitted feedback to Apple letting them know what changes you'd like to see made?

  • Clock Alarm: How to start Weekdays on Sunday ?

Hi, I live in Israel and my weekdays start on Sunday. I want that the alarm start on Sunday. How can I do it ? Set my calendar start day on Sunday don't have effect on the alarm

    Hello and welcome to the forums;
Unfortunately, even though you have Sunday as your first day of the week, it is still considered a "Weekend" day, and the "Weekdays" are Mon-Fri for the alarm.
There are several other Alarm apps available in the app catalog, some of which do allow for customized settings for days of the week. This might be an option for you, or you could make a request that this option be made available on the default alarm clock to our developers at www.palm.com/feedback where we monitor all customer requests and input.
    Hope this helps,

    Hello SMEvans32
You can use iCloud to share the Calendar, that way she will always be up to date on that particular section of your work calendar. If you want to use iCloud, I would recommend backing up so you have a safe copy of your data.

  • Brazilian Calendar Problem - week should start on Sunday

If a user selects Brazil/Portuguese as the international settings on the iPhone, everything works fine except the calendar.
Here in Brazil, the first day of a week is allways on Sunday and not on Monday. (I can't imagine where Apple got this information...).
This allways confuses the user when checking the calendar and sometimes leads to mistakes.
Apple must fix this problem or - at least - offer the possibility of choosing the week start day for the calendar application.

    Hi ANOVA,
    Thanks for your response, but...
I had tried the workaround that you mentioned before posting this topic. Unfortunately, if regional settings configuration is changed from Brazil to United States, the first day of the week becomes Sunday, but the calendar language changes from Portuguese to English . This also affects other regional settings (like number simbology) to other standards that are not Brazilian.
So if you "fix" something, other things become defective.
The easy solution for this problem is to create an option that allows the user to select the first day of the week (Sunday or Monday) or to correct the Brazilian Calendar format (again: I can not imagine where Apple got this information...)
    Regards,
    Marcello.

  • The calendar week view on my iphone 4s starts on a Sunday.  I am synching with outlook on my computer which starts the week view on a Monday which I prefer.  How do I change my iphone calendar view to start the week on a Monday?

The calendar week view on my iphone 4s starts on a Sunday.  I am synching with outlook on my computer (pc)  which starts the week view on a Monday which I prefer.  How do I change my iphone calendar view to start the week on a Monday?  I am in Australia.
I have just noticed the other discussion points - mine is set to Australia.
Dear Apple - as the day that the week starts on can depend on country and religion - how about making it an option that the user can change????

I believe the week view on the iPhone is handled by the Region settings in the phone. I am not aware of any other manner to change it, as you can with Outlook.

  • ¿How do I set the calendar to start week on Monday and not Sunday in my iphone?

¿How do I set the calendar to start week on Monday and not Sunday in my iphone?

The jewish calendar does not have names for the days of the week. The week ends with the holy Sabbath (Saturday) and therefore the Sunday is the first days after Sabbath (Yom Rishon), the Monday the second day after Sabbath (Yom Sheini), etc.
The Christians believe that Christ was raised on the first days of the week (Mathew 28:1, et al) AFTER the Sabbath was over. So their holy day is the Sunday and the working week starts on a Monday.
The business days in the western world are numbered starting with the Monday as day number 1 (Timetables of Airlines, Calendars, even Microsoft Windows...).
Unfortunately in the United States religious freedom extends to a level which is not understood easily by the rest of the world. Since the MAC OS X allows to change the first day from a Sunday to a Monday, one might wonder why Apple decided to give the iPhone a jewish touch.
It could be supposed that this is the way of the least resistance. Only few complain about this issue, but if it were the other way around a lot of people would complain...
PS: I agree with the others here: It is very, very annoying and more than once I entered an appointment into the wrong day...;-)

  • How can i set my calendar start from Monday NOT Sunday like it is now?

How can i set my calendar start from Monday NOT Sunday like it is now?

    Read this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/message/11501621#11501621
For example, if you set the Regional format to United Kingdom, the days will be re-ordered but it will have other effects as well which you probably don't want.

    Hi,
I have a report which groups sales by the date they were made dailly, it also has another group which sits above this and groups these same sales by week so I can get a weekly sales figure aswell.  All this works ok but the weekly bit always starts on a Sunday, is there any way to change this to start on a Monday instead?
    Many thanks in advance

    It's okay,
    Found the answer....
    I created a group on a formula:  datepart("ww",{TRANSACTION.TRANSACTION_DATE},crMonday)
and when creating this group I clicked customise group name field and entered this formula:
    totext({TRANSACTION.TRANSACTION_DATE}-dayofweek({TRANSACTION.TRANSACTION_DATE},crMonday)+1, "dd/MM/yyyy")
This basically sets the start date of the week to Monday, change crMonday to whatever day you want to start from then.

    Hi
i have a 7510 all in 1. The calendar app which allows you to print a monthly calendar sstarts off with Sunday as the first day. How do you change this?
    thanks
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

All apps are either HP proprietary, or are created by the company that partenered with HP to create the app.  To the best of my knowlege, HP has not released the language used to write print apps, and does not plan to.  Sorry.

  • Calendar starts on Monday?

Just got the 3G, and everything sync'd ok except for calender. On the phone the week starts on Monday instead of Sunday like on my computer. I reset sync history, I made changes and they synced but the first day of the week wont change. Any ideas?

Your international setting could be incorrect.
Goto Settings -> General -> International on your iPhone and check if your Region Format is set to United States.

  • Change calendar start day

Hi, since upgrading to ios6 my calendar week now starts on a Sunday. I need to change this to Monday. I changed it in iCloud, synched the phone in itunes but it's still appearing to start on a Sunday. Help!

Hi, I found this thread as a work-around.  You need to change your region format settings to the UK and your week starts on a Monday.  Now your first currency option on your keyboard will be a pound instead of a dollar, but I can live with that.
Settings --> Generag --> International --> Region Format
