Calendar update?

I got an email from Apple urging me to update to the new Mobile Me Calendar by May 5.
iOS 4.2.1 is required on the iPhone for it to work. When I check, mine says it is up to date and it has 3.1.3.
Should I assume that I'm now SOL and need to buy a new iPhone if I want my calendar to sync?

I called Express Lane to ask if I could update to the new calendar in spite of having an original iPhone and was told it was OK.
This turned out to be a big mistake.
It took three more sessions with Express Lane to unwind the problems - which included all my calendars being blanked. Fortunately, I had Backup installed and my personal data - including my calendars - was stored there and I was able to slowly recover the situation.
With the pending withdrawal of MobileMe sync for original iPhone users I have a dilemma - my wife also has an original iPhone and an iPad so she will want MobileMe syncing to her iPad but after 5 May not to her iPhone. Based on the experience I have had so far I doubt this is possible.
I have read that there may be a work around for original iPhone users by setting up a separate CalDAV account but have not been able to find out any more about this. The quote I found was on TidBits, "MetalSamurai has noted that iOS 3.1.3 will actually work, but you’ll have to jump through hoops, including setting up a separate CalDAV account."
Ideally, this would be the route I would follow as replacing two iPhones that otherwise are working fine is not an option for me. I would prefer to look at switching to Android.
If anyone knows more about the work around for the original iPhone so I can continue to use MobileMe syncing I would be very pleased to hear about it.

there is an email and calendar update and when i tried to do it my phone nokia c7-00 restarted and the update wasnt done and tried over and over again and the same issue still as it is

    Hi Islam_Mohamed,
    Thank you for posting.
Before the phone restarts, do you get any error message when trying to update the calendar and the email? Are these updates for the email or calendar apps, or just for their contents? Aside from these two apps, are you able to download the updates for the other apps if there are any? It would be easier for the community to answer your query if you can provide more details about it.
    We'll wait for your response.

        1.    First check that all your settings are correct, that calendar syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
        2.    Make sure the calendars you are using are in your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by clicking/tapping the calendar button in the top left corner of the application ), non iCloud calendars will not sync.
        3.    If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your calendars are in the iCloud account, you might try unchecking calendar syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling calendar syncing settings.

Microsoft have not made Outlook for Mac compatible with iCloud. Microsoft does not support the industry standard CalDAV and CardDAV protocols iCloud uses. There's nothing you can do to make it work, except put pressure on MS to get up to date.

    Confirmed!
It's an anti-virus related issue. First tried to disable only protection, firewall, etc., but it did not work fine.
As suggested, so I deleted KMS (but keeping the application settings and objects in quarantine), and was finally able to complete the installation of the update. Then installed again KMS and everything still works fine.

  • Nokia belle refresh Email and calendar update not ...

Hi! I'm using the Nokia E7 running Nokia Belle refresh and my problem is that the email and calendar update released by Nokia recently is downloaded onto my device but is not installing, it shows installing, then restarts the device without finishing the installation. Anyone who can assist in solving this puzzle?

Hi, if you have an antivirus software on your e7 then this could be the cause. Uninstall it and it probably will work.

  • Calendar: "Calendar Updating..." Do you have CalendarBar?

    Hello all.
When I first upgraded to Mountain Lion, and restart, (I set my iCal/Calendar to auto launch at startup) there will be a pop-up window in Calendar app saying "Calendar Updating..." or something, and this seems to take forever and ever.
I have to quit the app and launch again, then everything will be fine, no more updating window, at least not until the next re-start/start up.
I have read here in other posts suggesting inside Calendar's Preferences, under the Account, decativate the account (uncheck) for at least 10 seconds and re-activate, to sync up with iCloud again to eliminate the problem.
When I re-start and/or start up the next day, same problem again.
Then I had a hunch, I have installed an app from the Mac App Store called CalendarBar, which has an icon on the right menu bar, you pull down and you can view events on your calendar, Facebook and even Google calendar.  The reason I had to auto-launch iCal/Calendar (previously) in Lion is because, and I was told by CalendarBar when I queried them, is, if iCal/Calendar is not launch, CalendarBar will not be able to pull and display the latest correct events.
So I thought it was this "trying to pull and sync info from Calendar" that was causing Calendar to go into that updating frenzy.
I quit and disable CalendarBar from launching at start up, and Calendar seems to be behaving just fine.
Just wondering if anyone else has the same encounter?
    Thanks and cheers

  • No calendars updating (iOS 8)

Since I've loaded iOS 8, no calendars updating between my iPad mini, my iPhone 5C and my MacBook, however, I've understood updating between devices was something proposed by Apple.

    Hello there, swing78.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great troubleshooting steps for troubleshooting iCloud calendars on your iOS devices:
    iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Calendar
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3999
    Particularly for iOS devices:
    Troubleshooting on iOS devices
First, confirm that you've turned on iCloud Calendar by tapping Settings > iCloud on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, then check that Calendars is turned on.
If you are having trouble with the Calendar app on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch) and iCloud Calendar, try these steps, testing after each to see if the issue is resolved.
Make sure you've updated to iOS 5 or later. If your issue isn't resolved, try installing the latest version of iOSsupported by your device. For instructions on setting up iOS for iCloud, see iCloud Setup.
Make sure your iOS device is online. Attempt to view www.apple.com in Safari. If you can't connect to the Internet, your iCloud calendars and events will not update in your Calendar application. Learn how to troubleshoot your Internet connection.
Open a secure website to test if ports 80 and 443 are accessible. Calendar requires port 443 access to iCloud to push and fetch updates to and from the iCloud Calendar servers.
If recent changes don't appear, try to refresh your calendars:
In iOS 7, open Calendar and tap the Calendars tab to load the Calendars list, then pull down on the list to refresh.
In iOS 6 or iOS 5, open Calendar and tap Calendars in the top-left corner to load the Calendars list. Then tap the Refresh button in the lower-left corner of the Calendars list window.
If you've recently made changes to your contacts' birthdays and are not seeing those changes reflected in your Birthdays Calendar, try to refresh your calendars. If you made the changes in the Contacts app on your Mac or at iCloud.com, it may take up to an hour for those changes to appear on your other devices.
If you add new events on your iOS device, but they do not update on iCloud.com or your other devices, confirm that you've added the event to an iCloud calendar:
In iOS 7, open Calendar and tap the event to view the Event Details. Tap the calendar name to confirm that you've saved the event to an iCloud calendar.
In iOS 6 or iOS 5, open Calendar and tap the event to view the Event Details. Tap Edit > Calendar to confirm that you've saved the event to an iCloud calendar.
You may want to verify your default calendar settings. If you want to create new events in an iCloud calendar, set that calendar to be your default calendar. You can modify Default Calendar settings in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Default Calendar.
If you're using iOS 7, quit and restart the Calendar app:
Press the Home button twice to see preview screens of the apps you have open.
Find the Calendar preview screen and swipe it up and out of preview to quit the application.
Tap the Home button to return to your Home screen.
Wait a minute before reopening the Calendar app.
If you're using iOS 6 or iOS 5, quit and restart the Calendar app:
    Press the Home button.
Double-click the Home button to open the multitasking menu.
Tap and hold the Calendar icon until it jiggles.
Tap the "X" to remove Calendar from the list.
Press the Home button to go back to your Home screen. Wait a minute before reopening the Calendar app.
Restart your iOS device: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears, then drag the slider. After the device turns off, turn it back on by pressing the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears. This may sound simple, but it reinitializes your network and application settings and can frequently resolve issues.
Change the Sync settings for your calendars:
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Under Calendars, tap Sync. If Sync is set to All Events, set it to a specific duration, such as Events 1 Month Back. If it's already set to a specific duration, set it to All Events.
Tap the Home button. Wait several minutes, then open Calendar and try to refresh your calendars again.
Turn iCloud Calendar off and back on:
    Tap Settings > iCloud.
Turn off Calendar. Choose to delete data only if your data exists at icloud.com/calendar or on one or more of your computers. Otherwise, choose Keep Data.
Wait a few minutes before turning Calendar back on.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Entourage Calendar Updated for Daylight Savings

I have used the software update for the adjustment to daylight savings. When I look at my calendar in Entourage, it is showing appointments scheduled after March 11th an hour later than they should be. Will this auto correct when the time changes? What about appointments scheduled now, should I be taking the time change into account?
    Thanks,
    Sarah

    Hi Sarah,
I had the same problem. If you click on the Help menu in Entourage, and select "Check for Updates", there are likely two updates you will need. My issue resolved after the first one.
I recommend you use Disk Utitlity to repair your disk permissions before and after you update any software.
    Hope this is your solution!
