Call a javascript from portal TLN without navigation

Hello all,
I have a script that capture active screen content.
I would like to embed this script link in the portal TLN and call it but without perform navigation.
The idea is to click the link on the TLN and to make the sctript run in background so it could capture the screen content.
Is someone has any idea how to perform this? or to achieve that purpose?
Thanks
Ami

Thanks GL for your reply!
Actually the script should run after content was loaded, the script use to capture the screen content.
However, what do you mean by drop the script in the framework and how do you it?
Thanks
Ami

  • Calling Reports 10g from Forms 10g without an app server

    Hi
I have Forms 10g, and for development/testing purposes I am able to run a form in my local machine using the standalone OC4J. I needn't to deploy the form to test it.
I can do the same with Reports 10g -- run a report in my local machine without an app server.
However, I could not manage to call a Report from a Form that way, without an app server. It does not seem possible -- is it? Is there a way to set this up using the standalone OC4J or something like that?
    Thanks

    Hi
    Sorry for the late reply.
Here's how you start the report server from windows XP machine.
    1. Choose a unique name for the report server. Eg. <your_pc_name>_repserver
    2. As the report server runs in its own process, it can be started by the following command, accessible from the \ bin directory of the
Oracle Developer Suite or Oracle Application Server 10g installation.
rwserver –install <server_name> . It is now treated as a windows service and hence you can stop/start or restart from the services menu.
    3. If you want specific settings for your report server, look for the <rep_server_name>.conf file under <orahome>/reports/conf directory, after starting the server from above command. This file is created by oracle automatically, once the rep server gets started.
For more info on this, please refer to white papers on the Forms and reports integration, found on the otn->Forms.
    Hope this helps

  • Calling new page from Portal menus

I have created a portlet which contains a menu generated using the Menu Wizard and the LINK within this menu was populated using the popup window provided within the menu editor. Any Forms or Reports called from this menu are not generated as a new page. I have gone into the portlet repository and defined these reports / forms as an applicaton that should open in new window but it still doesn't work.
How can I get the applications that are called via the LINK in a Menu to break out into a new window without having to hardcode each LINK Menu item.

    Hi,
Portal menus works that way. The links open in the same page. If you want to open it in a new window
then in the menu wizard where you specify the links, call the link using javascript like this
    javascript:void open('<portal_schema>.CAL_0520032153.SHOW')
    or
    javascript:void open('http://www.oracle.com')
This will open the calendar or the url in a new window.
    Thanks,

  • Calling Stored procedure from portal report

I have a simple portal report. ie.
    select empname
    from emp
    where dept = :dept
The users can customize the portlet and change the value of the bind variable (:dept).
On the Additional PL/SQL section of the report I need to call a procedure and
pass the value of the bind variable. Since the portlet is not being called from
another, p_arg_names and p_arg_values will not give me anything. In the above example I would
need to pass the value of ":dept" to the procedure. How do I get the value?

    Hi,
Have you tried the 'get_value' function?..The syntax is
    declare
    l_dept number(5);
    begin
    l_dept := get_value('dept');
    /* further process */
    end;
where 'dept' is name of the bind variable.

    Thanks.
    Frank

    Hi,
I am not sure how did you get that bsp-url but here are the steps:
    1) Create a system and assign an alias to it.
    2) Make sure you give proper values in Connector, User Management and ITS Property Category
    3) Check the connection by creating a sample SAP Transaction iview using WebGUI
    4) If this is working fine, then create a BSP iview. Make sure you select proper system alias, BSP Defination Type (BSP), give the correct Application Namespace, BSP Application, Customer Namespace and start page.
Let me know what are the values you have entered here and we can try to fix this problem.
    Cheers,
    Sunil

  • Calling Dynpro apps from Portal using NW - How?

I am new to NetWeaver.  I am trying to write a simple Portal application in NetWeaver that calls two Dynpro applications.
So, I downloaded from the SDN download page the latest stuff (2 days ago) the following: "SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Portal on MaxDB, and Developer Edition Sneak Preview", and the "Portal Development kit 6.0".  Installed them, and wrote the two Dynpro apps.
Then, using the Portal Perspective, I wrote a simple portal that is just empty.  Now, I want to connect this portal to the Dynpro applications I wrote.  The Help Tutorial in NW has a good start on how to do this, but it talks about "In the portal, navigate to Content Administration -> Portal Content...".  What is this portal tool?  It is not part of NW.
Now, it looks like I can use the Portal Perspective to create a "service" or a "web service" to service views for my portal.  But, I can't tell it to use my Dynpro applications for views.
Does anybody know how to do this?  Easy declarative way would be better than writing code!

    Hi,
You should have a look to this documentation:

  • Calling UNix Script from portal Form

Has anyone conquered this issue through jav or plsql. I need to call a unix script from the portal form when I select the insert button.

I have several very convoluted ways which all work, but I have always thought there should be more straightfwd ways. Fundamentally the easiest way to call something from the Insert button is to add some PL/SQL code before (or after) the "doInsert();" call in the Insert Button event handler.
What seems to be lacking is the ability to get from pl/sql to the o/s. So until we know how to do that you have to call a method in Java to execute o/s commands - specifically you can use Runtime.getRuntime().exec(cmd); where Runtime is a class in java.lang, and cmd is the actual o/s command (script or whatever).
How to call this Java is then where you have several options:
    1. Compile this piece of Java into the Oracle DB as a SP.
    2. Deploy this piece of Java within a Java servlet on a 9iAS instance. Then have another SP call this servlet using the utl_http package (begin_request and other sp's within package).
Which options would depend on several factors including your preference but most importantly whether you have a DB or a 9iAS instance on the machine where you want to execute the script. If you have neither you have a problem. In such cases I have used a standalone OC4J container which has a very small footprint.
As I said these methods are all quite convoluted and if anyone else has anything better I would like to know (but they work quite reliably).
    Cheers.
    Anton.

-Generate proxy classes and deploy it as a portal service
I created this service using the wizard (Portal service from wsdl file client side) in NWDS.

    Hi,
    Check your soapconfig.xml
Your method should be defined there. If it's not there, then you're sure to get this error.
For every method (in Webservice) that you call from your Portal Service, you should have it defined here.
    Remember, this is autogenerated.
      <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    - <!-- Portal WebService Configuration File.

    - <!-- Note: File generated automaticaly, don't modify this file.

  • Calling C functions from PL/SQL. (without OCI )

    hi all,
We are trying to call and external C routine (stored in a .so file) from a PL/SQL procedure.
The error obtained is ORA-28576 ( which occurs after connection to the external routine has been established successfully.)
, which states that the problem may lie in:
    a) Abnormal Termination of external C routine.(i.e a case of coredump, memory fault etc).
    b) Network Problems.
    c) Internal Logic Error in the RPC transfer code.
We tried calling the C .so functions from a C executable and it is working fine. Also there doesn't appear to a problem in the network connections too.....
The environment we are working on is Digital Unix 4.0 F. and we are using Oracle 8.0.6
    Please advise,
    Krishnan

There have been reported problems with specific compiler versions. Check with oracle as see if there is a specific compiler version number you need for a specific database release.

  • Calling javascript from a button

    Good morning everyone!
I need to add a message box that asks the user a confirmation to delete information. So I want my delete button to call the javascript necessary to confirm the delete and then delete.
My problem is in calling the javascript. I'm able to do so by using an image for my button and in the image attributes add:
onclick="javascript:confirmDelete('Are you sure you to delete?');"
This works perfectly, except for one thing: I don't want to use an image for the button. It doesn't fit with the rest of the application.
I know it can work, because Oracle is using it on this page:
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=37719:8:3069181226556730::NO:::
So how can I call my javascript from an ordinary button?

    I have a related question:
How can I access the BROWSER_LANGUAGE in javascript? With my method of calling javascript, I didn't find a good way to pass variables to the function that I call.
