Call ABAP Web Service with Java code only

Hi all,
First of all, I am writing script in Adobe form but am not using the one in SAP.
I am trying to call the web service and process the result with script open (i.e. no dataconnection created), because I am trying to do that in a dialog.
I can call a non-SAP web service without problem, but I am not able to call a simple web service with only a single string input, anyone have any example?
Here is the SOAP for input:
<soapenv:Envelope xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:urn="urn:sap-com:document:sap:rfc:functions">
<soapenv:Header/>
<soapenv:Body>
<urn:Z_RFC_GET_STAFF_BANK_INFO>
<A_STAFF_ID>0123456</A_STAFF_ID>
</urn:Z_RFC_GET_STAFF_BANK_INFO>
</soapenv:Body>
</soapenv:Envelope>
Here is my code to call:
var cURL = "http://some-host-name:port/sap/bc/srt/wsdl/bndg_DEDB492BB032E7F1B09F001CC4FBCEC9/wsdl11/allinone/ws_policy/document?sap-client=300";
var response = SOAP.request(
cURL: cURL,
oRequest: {
"urn:sap-com:document:sap:rfc:functions:Z_RFC_GET_STAFF_BANK_INFO": {
A_STAFF_ID: "0123456"

Bill

Hello I have the same problem, were you able to execute the WS through the JS code now?
I would like to call an ABAP WS using JavaScript to return complex structures that I would like to manage directly with JS.
I tried with this code and I get the error "RaiseError: Acrobat Raise." when the request is executed:
var WSUrl = "http://<server>:<port>/sap/bc/srt/wsdl/bndg_4D15C75529330AF1E10000000A150429/wsdl11/allinone/ws_policy/document?sap-client=500";
var VendorNumber = xfa.form.DATA.DATAFLOW.SF_HEADER.VENDOR_NUMBER.rawValue;
try {
// Create request structure, read Input out of text field
var request = {
"urn:sap-com:document:sap:soap:functions:mc-style:ZWsTest" : {ILifnr: VendorNumber}
SOAP.wireDump = true;
// Call web service using SOAP object
var response = SOAP.request ({
cURL: WSUrl,
oRequest: request
//        cAction: "urn:sap-com:document:sap:soap:functions:mc-style"
} catch (e) {
xfa.host.messageBox(e.toString()); //pop-up "TypeError:service.CelsiusToFahrenheit is not a funciton"
with this other code I get the error "SOAPError: CX_ST_MATCH_ELEMENT:XSLT exception.System expected element 'ILifnr'":
try {
var myProxy = SOAP.connect(WSUrl);
var result = myProxy.ZWsTest( { ILifnr: VendorNumber } );
xfa.form.DATA.DATAFLOW.SF_HEADER.E_DESCRIPTION.rawValue = result;
// Display the response in the console:
console.println("Result is " + result);
} catch (e) {
xfa.host.messageBox(e.toString()); //pop-up "TypeError:service.CelsiusToFahrenheit is not a funciton"
in the second option, if I make the field ILifnr optional the call is succesfully performed but the parameter is not passed to the WS. So the call is working.
Using stand-alone LiveCycle designer 8.1 and Adobe Reader 8
Any suggestions?
Many thanks,
G.

• Call web service using Java code

Hi all,
Sorry if this question sounds stupid. I am new to web services.
I am having a web service written in oracle, using soap-api. I want to call this web service in Java application, parse the result and save it in the database.
Can anyone please guide me on this or give me some related link. I tried searching on google, tried to implement some of the solutions I got in search results, but it was not that helpful.
Waiting for your help. Please guide me through this.
Waiting for your replies. Thanks in advance.

Hi all,
From my java code, I tried giving
String testStr = service.search("and formatted_address like '%Test House%'");
This service method is defined on my SearchPortType.java file. This and the searchClient.java, as I mentioned earlier are auto generated files by myeclipse IDE. I gave WSDL URL, which generated these two files.
This helped me invoking the service, but it gives me an exception as below:

• Calling a Web Service from Java

Our java guru (who is out sick....AHHHH) created all the calls that are needed to access the web service that he has running. For example the call getLongList(String user, String password) will return a list of all outstanding transactions. He made a jar file that has service has class files for PortType, Service, Service Locator and Soap Binding stub.
How do I call this web service from java? Do I have to import it into my classpath? or just call these parameters from within my java code?

never mind...i got it

• Calling a Web Service from Java Webdynpro

Hi,
Can any one give me step by setp details on how to call a Web Service from Java Webdynpro ?
I tried creating a model using Import Web Service Model but when I completed creating the model, I got some errors as shown below.
Error The method setRouteGeometryLineArray(double[][]) in the type Trip is not applicable for the arguments (double[]) ComplexType_Trip.java WS_INVOKE/gen_wdp/packages/com/cintas/test/model/p1 line 249
thanks
SBK

Hi SBK,
I assume you may already have read the [help guide|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/81/12703e5da3e946e10000000a114084/content.htm] This gives a pretty good idea of how to do it (step by step).
Is there a typo in the error you pasted?
Error The method setRouteGeometryLineArray(double][) in the type Trip is not applicable for the arguments (double[]) ComplexType_Trip.java WS_INVOKE/gen_wdp/packages/com/cintas/test/model/p1 line 249
The square brackets [] after double in the method call appear to be reversed. Is that also in the code? or just a mistake here?
Hope this points you in the right direction.

• Preparations to learn Web Services with Java

I have only worked with JSP,JDBC, JavaBeans and Servlets in Tomcat using MVC architecture the past couple years. I have never used Struts framework. I am thinking about taking a Web Services with Java course and was wondering if my background will be enough to keep up with the advance topic of Java web service?

Yes, at first you should have to worry about understanding the basic concepts, WSDL, and a little bit of XML (it does not make very senso to study far too much because sometimes you won't use all the api you may study).
The focus point is understanding that you can build a web service infrastructure passing using many different approaches: starting from wsdl, starting from java, based on WSDL, based on REST and things like that.
JAX-WS is a very powerful toolkit that covers well all the possible approaches you may have.
Anyway starting from scratch is quite frustrating... it is difficult to find around a good guide that covers all the aspects and make you understand the Big Picture. That's really the focus point.
There is a very good book about written by Mark Hansen.
Check out also that there are so many franmeworks around that implements the specification: almost every Corp. implements its own stack.... Sun, Apache, Spring, IBM, JBOSS and so on.
This is quite misleading at first.
Metro is very good and very well implemented with netbeans, and it's easier to start with it. anyway it hides you sometimes what's going on underneath.
I find CXF is a very good framework, and if you love the SPring wayyou should consider give it a chance.
I have no experience of other frameworks.

• How to consume the Abap web service in Java web-dynpro

Hi Everyone,
I want to consume ABAP web service in java web dynpro.
so when i tried to create model in java web-dynpro, it gave me an error message saying "Invalid WSDL or WSDL not found".
i think this error message is because, to access the WSDL of abap web-service, we need username and password, but the dialog box in java web-dynpro is not programmed to take username and password from us and send it to the server to get the WSDL.
i came to this conclusion because i was able to successfully test my abap web-service in java portal. the java portal asked me the username and password to open the WSDL.
So, please help me to consume the abap web service in java web-dynpro.
Thanks in advance
Regards
Vikas

Hi Vikas ,
while creating a model in web-dynpro try to use the "import web service model" option and if you are using local server choose the local server option so that you can get the available web services which are in server, select one among them and continue you process.I think this is the some what easy way .
If you want use the URL for wsdl better to once test the available service in server and copy that WSDL URL and paste over WSDL textbox.
I think this is pretty help ful to you

• Create web service from java code in Jdeveloper 11.1.1.5

I am try to create web service from java code by default it is connected to Integrated web logic server and generate a
WSDL like this.
http://localhost:7101/javaexcel-project1-context-root/MyWebService1Soap12HttpPort.
please tell me how we can change this local host to our needed Host and how to deploy this web service to web logic server.

Hi,
Just right click on your project and deploy it to your application server (Weblogic Server (Not the Integrated server)). {Before that, you have create your Application server connection in the Jdeveloper).
After deployment open the Admin console of the weblogic server and find your ear of the project.Click on that (Go to the "Testing tab") and you will get the "WSDL" (Concreate wsdl) and "Test Client" of the Project.

• ABAP Web Service with tables

Hello,

We need to build a web service with a predefined message in our ERP (ABAP), without PI or WebAS JAVA.

We thought it should be a simple task, because we had no problem with many other applications and systems when building the same service, but were not able to build it with SAP ABAP, probably as a consequence of our lack of knowledge on ABAP SOAP runtime.

We have an external asynchronous process that delivers information to many other systems using web services (information diffusion). Concecuently, the web service call's structure is determined by the caller, so we have to fulfill this structure if we want to receive the info.

The owner of the process defined a very simple service call, in which one kind of "record" can be repeated 1 to n times:

<reglasSuscripcion>
<!Zero or more repetitions:>
<nombre>?</nombre>
<valor>?</valor>
<nombre>?</nombre>
<valor>?</valor>
<nombre>?</nombre>
<valor>?</valor>

<nombre>?</nombre>
<valor>?</valor>
</reglasSuscripcion>

In order to receive this info, we have to implement an abap web service handler to accept this kind of call, the same way other applications/systems have already done.

We tried to build a RFC function call and create a web service with the wizard and it resulted in a web service with the following WSDL:

<soapenv:Envelope xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:urn="urn:sap-com:document:sap:soap:functions:mc-style">

<reglasSuscripcion>
<!Zero or more repetitions:>
<item>
<nombre>?</nombre>
<valor>?</valor>
</item>

<item>
<nombre>?</nombre>
<valor>?</valor>
</item>
</reglasSuscripcion>

We found two main problems:

1.- When "wrapping" the RFC as a WS with the wizard, for a table datatype it automatically includes the

tag, so we break the predefined calling rules.

2.- The namespace is fixed by the wizard, and we would like to use a common namespace for all the "susbscribers", logically, the namespace fixed by the information diffusion service.

We also tried to find info on the outside-in approach for building a web service from the WSDL, but all the info we found required the ESR and we have no PI, just the ERP.

Any ideas on how to proceed?

Thanks in advance,
#2. I've recently had to "zap" some namespaces in an ECC5 system because the calling (TIBCO) system didn't appreciate the default SAP "urn" default - something to do with multiple colons in the address. There were, I think, just three table this affected, all VEP* ones. I think I should have been able to change these via the virtual interface in SE80 except that the ECC5 code was a bit "light" in this respect, so you may be able to do this now in SOAMANAGER in ECC6 (btw, I also had to re-save the WS definition within WSCONFIG and re-activate the virtual interfaces after this "zap" to generated the associated handler class again).
#1. Given your "name / value" pairs represent a complex type, then it might be better practice to have them as "item" which is probably why SAP proposes it this way... what does your custom function module parameter list look like?

1. i am trying to test this on my local sap j2ee server, on my workstation. i am not deploying this as of yet to the portal.
2. i do have access to r/3.
3. the r/3 application server is in our corporate intranet, and therefore excluded from being looked up by our proxy.
4. our proxy DOES require a username and password. i added my user name and password to the webservice container section of the visual administrator, and excluded the r/3 server from the proxy list.
what am i missing?

Zafar,
Check the endpoint in generated WSDL. Probably there is a host name that is not in "exclude list" for proxy settings (like IP vs host name, or FQDN vs short host name).

• UWL connector: problems with calling a web service with a SAPLOGONTICKET

Hi,
I want to implement a uwl connector that calls a web service to retrieve the uwl items data with a SAPLOGONTICKET. If I refresh the UWL I get the following error.
An error occured while reading data from the destination sap.com/com.xxxx.connector.RequestLeaveDP/com.xxxx.connector.RequestLeave/Config1Port_Document. The error was: com.sap.security.core.client.ws.SSO2Exception No SAP Logon Ticket was found for the user. Please ensure the user authenticated using HTTP/HTTPS and the JAAS login stack has been configured correctly. As an alternative, consider changing the authentication type to Assertion Ticket. .
If I call the Web Service in an iView I don't get this error. Maybe the UWL calls the web service not with the current authenticated user.
I tried the following code, to get the current SSO2 Ticket from the current user. It looks like, that is the current user, but the web service will not accept this. (testing purpose)
com.sap.security.api.IUser currentUser = com.sap.security.api.UMFactory.getAuthenticator().getLoggedInUser();
String logonTicketUwlUser = (String) context.getUser().getTransientAttribute("com.sap.security.core.usermanagement", "MYSAPSSO2_STRING");
String logonTicketCurrentUser = (String) currentUser.getTransientAttribute("com.sap.security.core.usermanagement", "MYSAPSSO2_STRING");
InitialContext contextWebService = new InitialContext();
RequestLeaveWebService requestLeaveWebService = (RequestLeaveWebService) contextWebService.lookup(wsClient);
RequestLeaveWebServiceViDocument webServiceEndPoint = requestLeaveWebService.getLogicalPort("Config1Port_Document");
UWLHolidayItem holidayItem = webServiceEndPoint.getHolidayItem("");
Any ideas?
Regards
Markus

Are you calling invoke()?
Do you have the port type in the servlet context?

• Calling a Web Service with a File Binding Component

Is it possible to call a web service (inside a bpel process) using a File Binding Component?
It seems that the File Binding Component should read an XML representing the input - is this possible? I found something about an "input-file-type" for the message, is this the way?
Thank you,
Marcos Ackel

Hi
" have done one small application with Bpel which read messages from port and write to file in xml format using file binding........"
By your description of this application, I'm sure it is using the HTTP BC to read incomming messages, and then the File BC to write them to a file. I think the original question is whether the File BC can call a web service which is very different.
Either way, when calling Web services, the recommended BC is the HTTP BC.
Cheers
Paul

• Java Web Service with Java 1.4

I had been using JAX-RPC (DII) and Dynamic Proxy to call Sharepoint web service. I can make it work with static web service but not dynamic web service.
I am just seeking for other web service technology to work on dynamic web service. Do you think Axis2 or jax-ws works with ajava 1.4?
Thanks.

• ABAP Web Service with XI and SOAP

Hi everybody!
What we are trying to implement is the following szenario:
SAP ERP HCM
SAP XI (Netweaver 2004s)
Our customers shall call a Web Service on the HCM system over the XI system transmitting 2 parameters (IDs) and get back a xml document with a list of hr related information.
This is how we started (or want to go on) with the outside-in method:
1. set up data types and message interface in XI integration repository
2. generate a proxy in HCM with the transaction SPROXY and implement the service
3. set up a communication scenario in XI integration directory using the SOAP adapter
But there are some questions left:
- how many message interfaces must be set up for the described scenario?
- is the SOAP-adapter the correct adapter for that scenario?
- how do we send back the xml information list?
- is synchronous communication correct?
- how can we test that scenario?
We are new to XI and SOA so we'd appreciate any help. thanks in advance!

how many message interfaces must be set up for the described scenario?
You would need two message interfaces. One for the outbound for the sender and one for the inbound for the receiver. There should be request and response message types for each message interface since this is a synchronous scenario.
is the SOAP-adapter the correct adapter for that scenario?
SOAP adapter is correct for the web service scenario
how do we send back the xml information list?
You will need to design the XML information list in the Integration Repository on the message interface.
how can we test that scenario?
You can use third party Soap UI Client such as SOAP UI Client or XML Spy to try calling the webservice.
