Call BI EE Reports from Java

Hi,
I have a question regarding BI EE and WebServices.
I have to call reports created in Answers from a Java-application. Someone told me that there are some webservice functions that allow such calls.
But I did not find anything about it in the documentation.
Does anyone have an idea where I can find information about this topic? Perhaps there are some example applications or tutorials.

Is there any resolution to this problem? I have scoured ever site, PDF, and forum trying to figure this out but it's just not happening. The problem that I am having is that the clock comes up with the cancel link but the report never loads. In looking at the output my bridge is working perfect, my locale is getting the correct JavaScript and CSS files however when using the firebug plug-in for Firefox I am able to see that there are three JavaScript errors that I am getting I would think that this is part of the problem however a bigger problem in my opinion is the fact that all of the links pointing to the report includes /analytics/saw.dll?NoAuthGo ... which I see as incorrect because I am authenticated correctly because I can turn right around and run a report with the "GO" url and I am not asked to login.

Problem when calling a report from java

Hi all,
i have created a report using ireport which contains arabic data.
when i execute the report from ireport to generate a pdf file it works.
however when i call this report from java i have an exception"
Could not create the report Could not load the following font :
pdfFontName : ARIAL.TTF
pdfEncoding : Identity-H"
the pdfFont i used it in ireport, also the pdfEncoding.
did anyone passed with the same problem

It's run with no problem with deployment of simple jar.
But when i call report with deployment of java web start,it can not.
I think it's java secuity problem,so i add
Permission java.io.FilePermission "c://winnt//system32//cmd.exe", "execute";
in java.policy file in client(windows 20000).However ,it can not too.

In your code, 'cmd' is invoked as Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd /c start "+pURL);
but in your policy file you specify
Permission java.io.FilePermission "c://winnt//system32//cmd.exe", "execute";
Before creating a new process, the security manager checks for FilePermission(cmd,"execute")
if cmd is an absolute path, otherwise it calls checkPermission with
FilePermission("<<ALL FILES>>","execute"). Try specifying
FilePermission("<<ALL FILES>>","execute") in your policy file.
But, I believe using exec, may not be the right solution as it may not work on
other platforms. Also you will have to expect the client m/c to relax security
permission.
Did you consider using java.net.HttpUrlConnection class instead to access the report
service URL?

I am wondering that we need to get the URL for accessing the report and call the URL with in Java program?
Is that right? Is there any other option? Any help is greatly appreciated.

You need to write some class based on the BI Publisher APIs taking data, template, output format, etc.

I tried the way suggested by Anil in the above link as well today, but still am getting the same error while openning the pdf .
Dont know why it shows error that either the file is not a supported file type or because the file is damaged.
Please suggest way to solve this error or some other way of calling xml report from OAF page.

The report is on a different data base ... need to create a process to get the data into the view behind the report and then materialized view in Apex etc .Then recreate the same report in Apex. But I am trying use the disc report url to invoke the report directly from apex.

Use web.show_document instead of Run_Report_Object. If the jsp contains a paper layout you can still use Run_Report_Object, but you have to specify the filename extension .jsp along with the filename.

I have setup the following form function calling SSWA jsp type function

When I click the menu item OBIEE returns the following;
No Columns
The request cannot be performed because it contains no columns.
Can anyone please enlighten me on how to do this correctly

Calling a JSP Report From HTML parameter form

I m trying to run a JSP Report from a HTML parameter Form. The JSP reports requires a parameter named userid in the URL with a valid value for database connection.
eg. URL "http://win2kdb.oracle9iis.com:7778/repdemo/examples/Tools/fm_crdinf.jsp?userid=sysapps/system@trt1". We have created a variable on the server named "parmformjsp" with a value "sysapps/system@trt1". Now i use this variable in the URL as follows, eg. "http://win2kdb.oracle9iis.com:7778/repdemo/examples/Tools/fm_crdinf.jsp?parmformjsp".
When i use this URL to call another JSP report from a JSP report it works fine, but the same does not work when calling a JSP report from a HTML form.
the code for HTML parameter form calling a report is as follows,

Forms 6i client/server? Use the HOST command to call the report. Since a Jasper report is just a call to a url, it will be something like:
v_url := '<your url to the report>';
host ('cmd /c start '||v_url);If it's web Forms 6i it even easier. Just use web.show_document(<url>).
