Run Report with Pass Number and Varchar Lexical Parameter values
Dear Sir/Madam
Due to an urgent change required to a report I would most appreciate it if you can please advise me if it is possible to get this report working by either passing in multiple lexical parameters or one signle lexical parameter when calling the SRW.RUN_REPORT command with the following methods:
Firstly: When calling report with a run_no and spr_cd passed in through one lexical:
cmd_line: REPORT=D:\DEV\REMITTANCE.rdf BACKGROUND=YES BATCH=NO DESFORMAT=PDF DESTYPE=FILE DESNAME=D:\DEV\REMITTANCE.pdf
CP_L_PARAM=RUN_NO=TO_NUMBER(28) AND SPR_CD=SUPP1
Both with a TO_NUMBER and without, whereby I attempt to do a SUBSTR within the query of the called report to derive the RUN_NO Oracle Reports fails to accept the SUBSTR.
Secondly: I am now trying to call the with passing two lexical parameters into the report as follows:
cmd_line: REPORT=D:\DEV\REMITTANCE.rdf BACKGROUND=YES BATCH=NO DESFORMAT=PDF DESTYPE=FILE DESNAME=D:\DEV\REMITTANCE.pdf
CP_L_RUN_NO=||TO_CHAR(lv_run_no)|| CP_L_SPR_CD=||lv_spr_cd;
NOTE: The above is an output of the actual command line and not what is passed into the command line, thus the quotes are missing. Please also note that the report is running fine with the only a hard coded RUN_NO value PASSED without the SPR_CD.
Unfortunately this is also causing issues as the RUN_NO is a number and as you know you can only pass in strings.
Your urgent help is required on this matter please as our client is expecting a solution this afternoon.
Hope to hear form you soon.
Kind regards
Andrew MasonDont Worry I've worked it out...

Difference between deploying oracle report in RDF format and REP format
Hi All,
Good Day!!!
We are frequently encountering report failures in our production environment with the error message "REP-1247: There exist uncompiled program unit(s)"
But the report executes successfully in the next try and the issue is intermittant. In production the reports are deployed in RDF format.
So in our test environment we tried of deploying the reports in REP foramat and we cant find any errors.
Is there Difference in deploying oracle report in RDF format and REP format?
Is there any diffence in execution?
Your inputs will be much appreciated!!!
Thanks in Advance,
JKHi,
REP is to RDF what FMX is to FMB, MMX is to MMB, etc.
Only difference here is that if you deploy RDF, not REP, then the RDF is compiled at runtime by Reports Engine and then executed. In other words, if REP is deployed then it is straightway execute.
That should explain all your observations.
Cheers.
PS: Please post Oracle Report queries on {forum:id=84} forum.

Summary Report with 4 Dimensions and 5 Facts
Hello OBIEE Czars:
I have a problem.
I am trying to make a summary report with 4 Dimensions and 5 Facts.
Out of that only 2 Dimensions are Confirmed.
Now when I try to bring in all the facts, I get view display error.
I searched forum for similar issues.
So I have tried following so far.
1) Add other dimensions as source and set level to Total for those dims.
- After doing this, I dont get view display error, but I get blank rows for couple of facts.
2) I am already aggregating all the measures.
Please help me out.
This forum has been very helpful so far.
Thanks.
~VinayHi
This method seems fine until you run a request that includes a filter on an unconformed dimension.
The SQL itself should be quite straightforward (see below) but the BI Server instance does not seem to be joining this data correctly after posting the 2 separate queries to the database.
SELECT
x.dim1, x.dim2
x.fact1_agg_measure
y.fact2_agg_measure
FROM
SELECT
dim1, dim2
SUM(fact1.measure) fact1_agg_measure
FROM
dim1,
dim2, --UNCONFORMED+
fact1
WHERE
.... .... join fact1 to dimensions as normal
AND dim2 = 'BUSINESS_IDENTFIER'
GROUP BY
dim1, dim2
) x,
SELECT
dim1
SUM(fact2.measure) fact2_agg_measure
FROM
dim1,
fact2
WHERE
.... .... join fact2 to dimensions as normal
GROUP BY
dim1
) y
WHERE
x.dim1 = y.dim1
The result set returned in Answers is firstly a correctly aggregated record plus ALL rows from the second query above ??
Just wondering if anyone else has come across this issue?
cheers

Form report with both edit and column link
hi experts,
How can we create form report with both edit and column link. Ie, the form should have both the Edit link and column link. When we click on the edit link(in page1) it should go for the page2 and the page2 should display the corresponding row fields which should be editable. but when i click the column link it should bring me to the next page but the corresponding values of the column should not be editable.
Regars,
KKhi,
Here i have achieved this by making the column link and page navigation. -

Report with select list and link to call another report
Hi,
I am trying to do 2 reports (REPORT1 and REPORT2).
The first is a summary report (REPORT1).
This report will display sales figures for the year. Now, I need to have a select list in the result set that will have 2 options, depending on which option is chosen, I want to call REPORT2 with the select list as a parameter. How can I do this ?
Let me try to explain what I did.
I created REPORT1 on Page 100
SELECT YEAR, sum(YTD_SALES), APEX_ITEM.SELECT_LIST(1,'DEPARTMENT','Department;DEPARTMENT,Division;DIVISION') Drilldown FROM SALES_ANALYSIS WHERE YEAR > 2000
GROUP BY YEAR ORDER BY YEAR
I created 2 hidden items namely P100_YEAR and P100_DRILLDOWN
I also made the column YEAR as a link and specified both P100_YEAR and P100_DRILLDOWN as parameters to be passed.
Next, I created REPORT2
SELECT YEAR, DECODE(:P100_DRILLDOWN, 'Department', department, 'Division', Division) dept_div, sum(YTD_SALES) ytd_sales
FROM SALES_ANALYSIS
WHERE YEAR = :P100_YEAR
When I run Report 1, it's fine, when I choose either Department or Division from the Select List and click on the link to call Report 2, report 2 is displayed, but the value being passed for P100_DRILLDOWN is not correct and as a result, I am unable to get correct results for Report 2
Am I missing something ? Are there any alternate ways to do what I'm doing ?
Thanks,
AshokHi Ashok,
The link definition will not know the value selected in the list as it is constructed only when the page is being rendered. You would need to create some javascript to handle this. I've done that here: [http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=267:182]
The link on the EMPNO column has been defined in the HTML Expression setting for the column instead of the Link section. The HTML Expression that I have used is:
<a href="#" onclick="javascript:doDrilldown('#EMPNO#',this);">#EMPNO#</a>And, in the page's HTML Header setting, I have added in:
<script type="text/javascript">
function doDrilldown(empno,group)
var g;
var p = group.parentNode;
while (p.tagName != "TR")
p = p.parentNode;
var x = p.getElementsByTagName("SELECT");
if (x.length > 0)
g = x[0].value;
var url = "f?p=&APP_ID.:183:&SESSION.::::P183_EMPNO,P183_GROUP:" + empno + "," + g;
document.location.href = url;
</script>When a link is clicked, the doDrilldown function is called passing in the EMPNO value and the "this" object (which identifies the object triggering the call). The function starts from that object and goes up in the HTML tag tree to the nearest TR tag (the row tag that the link is on) and then finds the first SELECT list item on the row and gets its value. It then constructs a URL using this and the EMPNO value and performs a redirect to the second page (page 183 in this example).

Paramform=yes and submit button
Hi all,
I'm trying to deploy a new report from web (just want to put a link to that report)
This report takes 2 parameters from user input, my link looks like that : http://myserver:myserverport/reports/rwservlet?server=myserver&report=myreport.rep&desformat=pdf&destype=cache&userid=xxx/xxx@xx¶mform=yes
From that url I get a paramform with my 2 parameters which i fill in, then i click on the "submit query" button, but nothing happen, it just reload the same page and never display my reports which run fines when i put the parameter in the url.
I've look in the reports queue manager and my report are show as executed successfully.
Can anybody point me what i'm missing for my reports to be display when i click that button?
I'm using Report Builder 9.0.4.0.33 , for the moment i'm trying to run the reports against an Windows 2000 IDS 9.0.4.1 OC4J instance, and will deploy it on an Redhat 3 ES IAS 9.0.4.2
Thanks in advance.
(sorry for my poor english)Arun, I am just learning my way around reports in the 10g world so take my suggestion with a grain of salt.
Look at adding a "pfaction=" param to your report_others parameter on the report object. It might look something like this:
SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(repid,REPORT_OTHER,'paramform=no p_1='||:block3.deptno||' pfaction=reports/rwservlet?_hidden_server=rep_server&report=my_report_name¶mform=no&destype=printer&desname=\\print_server\HPLaserJ4240n&desformat=pdf&userid=scott%2Ftiger%40oradev.world&p_1='||:block3.deptno);
The sample I pasted above gives more params than you need but I think the pfaction param that is passed in the report_others param of the object basically tells the "Submit" button what to do. I also used a hard coded text string for most of the example where you would probably want to make it more dynamic.
The rp2rro library can handle the encoding of characters to make it URL safe i.e. @ = %40, etc.
See the document below for more details, it also has an encode function example:

Open report with "Save as" and "Open with" dialogue
Hi,
I'm using jasper reports within my application. I manage to open them in a new window but in that case the url containing JasperServer username and password is shown. I would like to open the report without showing the url.
I tryed using a database procedure (http://sqlcur.blogspot.com/2009/02/jasperreports-in-apex.html) but all I get is a alert window saying "file does not begin with ' pdf-'". Couldn't see what is the problem (I used the same procedure as Ino has in his example) so I thought of another way. Is it possible, when someone clicks a button to open a report, to open that report with a "Save as" and "Open with" pop up window?
The javascript function that I use:
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
function openLAPopUpJasper(url){
w = open(url,"winLov","toolbar=false,menubar=false,location=false,resizable=yes, //scrollbars=yes,status=yes,fullscreen=true");
if (w.opener == null)
w.opener = self;
w.focus();
</script>
Thanks in advance!

Calling report with no parameters from a form should report be a JSP file?
Hi,
I'm completely new to the Oracle environment and am having a few beginner problems all I want to find out is how to call a report from a form. I know this question has been asked before but I can't work it out from the answers because people seem to keep talking about rdf files:
I am trying to call the report with the following code:
Declare
report_id REPORT_OBJECT;
v_rep varchar2(100);
rep_status varchar2(20);
Begin
report_id:= FIND_REPORT_OBJECT('EmployeeRep');
v_rep := RUN_REPORT_OBJECT(report_id);
END;
My report is called 'EmployeeRep' but it saves it as a JSP file and there is no option to save as an rdf as is mentioned in other posts. I can understand the environments confusion because there is no directory information with the find_report_object command. Does the report have to be stored in a certain directory.
All I have done with the report is created it from the emp table of the sample Scott database. Any help is appreciated and nothing is too obvious as I say I'm completely new to this.
Thanks
DanTry to pinpoint what is going wrong:
1. Run the report stand alone (from Reports Builder). If that doesn't work, then it won't work calling it from Forms either.
2. Check if anything has run at all, or if there are report error messages with:
http://localhost:port/reports/rwservlet/showjobs?
For a standalone Report Server use:
http://localhost:port/reports/rwservlet/showjobs?server=rep_server_name
3. If it does work, call it from Forms. Is the report output file created (e.g. in the cache directory if destype=cache)? In your code you have run_report_object, but you won't see any output on your screen. To see the output add web.show_document(...) to your report. There are many examples in this forum if you search for run_report_object. -
