Call rest services and populate ViewObject

Hi All,
I have scenario where i need to populate the view object data from rest services and while loading the task flow i need to call the rest service and load data into view object.
So i marked java bean method as default activity in task flow where i am calling my rest service. Now i want to call a view object method in side my java bean method which is marked as default acity in task flow.
So could any body tell me how can i call a view object method in java bean method which is added as method activity in task flow?
Note: I am using jdeveloper version 11.1.1.6

RESTful service and BLOB with bind variable

Hi,
Has anyone successfully created a RESTful service with bind variable to retrieve a BLOB field and render it in an Apex app? I can create RESTful web service and render BLOB field for a record with no bind variable (single row). As soon as I add bind variable my RESTful service fails -- I get 404 Error. Without bind variable it renders both in TEST tool of Workspace and direct URL. As soon as I add a bind variable it fails either way. I have reported this in an SR to Oracle support, but thought I would post here too.
I would also like to retrieve the photo into an Apex application. Any hints would be appreciated.

Hi Fateh -
Good question. You would identify the source type as a Media Resource, and use an SQL statement with the primary key and the BLOB column. When you use Media Resource, you are essentially telling your Database Cloud Service not to marshall the data, just to send it - which is exactly what you are looking for.
With this implementation, you would have to have a separate SQL call for each BLOB retrieval. However, you might be able to use a PL/SQL block as the end point for the RESTful Service and take care of multiple BLOB processing in the block.

In that on button it will call Java REST webservice and validating the username and password.
Evrything working fine in few systems.But it showing "The operation timed out" in WIndows 7 64 bit office 2013.
In other windows 7 machine with office 2010 and 2007 its working perfectly.

Calling REST Services that accept JSON objects from BPEL Process

Hi,
I do have a requirement of calling RESTful service from the BPEL process (SOA Suite 11.1.1.5). The RESTful service accepts the payload as JSON object.
I have gone through the documentation of HTTP binding through which we can call RESTful services from BPEL. But the payload option is coming as only XML.
So just wondering whether BPEL has out-of-the box support for JSON object payloads when calling REST service? Please let me know if you have any pointers on this.

Went through the links and the documentation. From that i could see the only way is coming up with Java based proxy which takes care of XML to JSON conversion and calling the REST based service. This would actually need a java developer now :)

We are coming up with a BPEL process to call the REST service using GET and POST methods. When i tried using HTTP adapter, we have got the error REPLACE_WITH_ACTUAL_URL so we went to another approach given in the blog https://blogs.oracle.com/reynolds/entry/oracle_http_adapter.

I tried using the HTTP adapter which is the straight forward way for calling the REST based services. But when we use XSD complex type we are getting the error REPLACE_WITH_ACTUAL_URL. We have to use GET method. when we tried from the browser it's working fine as expected but erroring out from BPEL.

Issue with calling restful services via HTTP in an Orchestration

The company I work for is using RESTful services for our I/O. We are processing EDI files using Biztalk, and are calling the REST services via HTTP from a c# code called within the orchestration. At lower volumes, the service performs fine, but at higher
transaction volumes, the HTTP calls never return. Is there a resource that needs to be tuned somewhere on the biztalk node to allow higher volumes of HTTP calls? Its not the REST service side - it has no problems handling loads generated by non biztalk nodes.
For further clarification, the EDI message is a multi batched, so there are many simultaneous orchestrations running at once. I have started to look at ways to throttle how many instances can run at once, but I still suspect some resource in the HTTP
sequence that we dont have enough of.
Ideas?

I think you were not enough free threads in the ThreadPool to complete the operation.
So you can work out with Max connection setting in your BTSNTSvc file first

[OSB] - Calling REST Service - POST action

I have a requirement to invoke a REST full service to pass on the processed XML message. I know OSB supports both calls via Proxy and Business services. I have tested it with HTTP and it works. However, my server side REST service is to be invoked/called over HTTPS.

How to make a PDF form call Web service and return a static pdf for user to print?

Can anyone help me regarding the feasibility of using PDF forms for my following case?
I would like to create a Dynamic pdf form. User only have the Acrobat reader. they can enter some information. Then have a submit button. when user click the submit button, it can call the web service with data. then Web service returns a Static PDF document based on data and the user can print it out. (and maybe save as separate pdf file)
1. Is that possible to implement? Because I know PDF can call web service, but dont know how it handle when the webservice returns another static PDF document. could it able to handle the responds and open up in another acrobat reader?
2. As I understand I need to have Live Cycle Designer to create a pdf and make it Reader Enabled. So user can user reader to call webservice? am I correct?
3. What minimum reader that user need to have? PDF reader 7 or above?
4. I have a webservice serve the same purpose for web. But if I want the same web services can serve both web and PDF form. So, whatever client (PDF or Web)make the web service call, server returns the PDF document to client. Is that possible ? Do I need to make any changes on web service?

Srini: We have developed a Servlet to talk to Webservice. Based on the Webservice response, the Servlet, prepares the Byte stream and sends it to Webbrowser to display as a PDF. The PDF data was submitted to Servlet in XML format.
But if you do not want to use the above approach, then you have to use the Workbench Process.
Submit the PDF data to a Workbench process and the inside process, execute Webservice Service with the data. Once the response is received, prepare the data XML and render a PDF with it.
To do this, you need LiveCycle Server and Reader Extensions server component.

Srini: If you want to use the Servlet, you can Reader extend the PDF with Acrobat.. But if you want to submit the data directly to Webservice, then you need Reader Extensions server component.

How to set the HTTP headers in HTTP Binding to call RESTful service

I'm calling a RESTful service from the SOA Composite through a BPEL process. The RESTful service need few values to be set in the HTTP header to authorize the request. I tried several different options like setting the headers in the invoke service etc., but in vain. Apparently, the web service call fails for not having header information.
I have burnt several days on this. Can somebody help me to get through this please?
I'm using SOA composite 11.1.1.4 on WLS 10.3.4.

Not able to call REST service

Hi,
I'm trying to consume a REST service. It seems that its a problem to set the http:query-parameters or http:query-string. I saw this https://blogs.oracle.com/jeffdavies/entry/enhanced_rest_support_in_oracl article and and the one in the OSB 11G Development cookbook but the http:query-parameters or http:query-string tag doesnt show up in my $outbound. I do make an assign to put the <http:http-method>GET</http:http-method> in there, and that one works........i can see it in $outbound.
Can anyone explain me why the insert of the query parameters doesnt work?

How to call rest service with POST Http method in SMP2.3 HWC?

I am doing a sample for Rest Service in smp.

I am calling the above service in the smp it is pulling the data from the service with GET Http Method.
Now i want to call this service for login functionality.

Restful Services and Apex

Do I need to install apex listener in order to use the Restful Services.
We are on apex 4.1 and use modplsql apex.
Do I need to also install apex listener in order to use the restful services or would it be just enougt to patch 4.1 to 4.1.1 and I can continue to use apex 4.1.1 with modplsql.

Hi Kumar,
APEX Listener 1.1 (including your 1.1.4 installation) has a different implementation for RESTful webservices. You can access the configuration using APEX Listener's own configuration ("/listenerAdmin").
The new APEX-integrated RESTful implementation is provided with the new APEX Listener 2, which is still in Early Adpoters phase. It comes with a patch for APEX 4.1 to make 4.1 capable of using it as well. See the installation guide for the current EA release for details.
Since APEX 4.2 has been released now, I'd recommend to upgrade to this release instead of patching 4.1 if you don't have anything that would stop you from upgrading. And I expect APEX Listener 2 to be released soon as well, eventhough there hasn't been an official announcement yet.
