Call to BPM WebServive and Return BPM GUID

Hello,
When calling the web service to start a BPM process, we would like the web service to return to the calling application the guid of the BPM process that was created.
The purpose of this is to provide the calling application a level of traceability. For example, which BPM process

it is just not possible now,
I think only ce 7.3 can change the situation.

  • Call RFC Function Module and return 1000 records at a time

    I would like to call a Remote Enabled Function Module from a non SAP system.  This function module will select data from the database and return it to the calling program.
    Suppose there are 100,000 records that need to be returned, but the calling module would like the data in chunks of 1000 records.  Therefore the calling program would call the FM 100 times.
    How do I code the function module to know on each subsequent call to grab the next chunk of 1000 records?
    Let me know if additional information is needed.
    Thanks,
    Aaron

    Hello,
    Here is how you can go for this issue:
    1. Create one RFC function module with following parameter. These parameters are with respective of chunking logic.
         Import: Package Size
         Export: Total number of records
         Changing: chunk count
    Implement following logic:
    1. First of you need to know how many chunks you need to fetch for that get the count of total number of records. This is one
        time activity so you better maintain one flag import parameter will be set to 'X' only first call.
    2. Get the number of chunk using total number of records / chunk size for e.g. 1000 / 100 so chunk count = 10.
    3. Define internal chunk counter in function module which will be used to locate the correct chunk depending on the chunk
        counter value sent from calling program.
    4. Send first call with package size 100 and chunk count = 1, execute select statement and increment internal
        chunk count check if chunk count = internal chunk count in current case chunk count = 1 so exit select statement and return
        with first chunk.
    5. Send second call with package size 100 and chunk count = 2. Execute select statement and check chunk count with internal
        chunk counter, in current case it will be 1 so skip that data and go for next chunk of 100 records increment internal chunk
        counter. In this case it will match with external chunk count = 2. load output table with that data and return to calling program.
    6. Repeat step 4 until you reach last chunk.
    You need to use SELECT...ENDSELECT with PACKAGE SIZE addition so for every loop it will return number of records mentioned in package size.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Augustin.

  • Call long running process and return immediately

    Hi everyone,
    Here' my problem : I am calling an onDemand application process when clicking on a button. It's a very long running process; and while waiting for the response my browser stops responding (white page).
    So, is there a way to call a process and return immediately to the javascript. The process will set a field to a given value when it finishes. In javascript side, I can then check in a while boucle the value of this field to know if the process has ended.But I dont know how to return just after the application process call ...
    Thanks and best regards,
    Othman

    I presume that you can achieve that by means of a batch job.
    You can use an automatic page reload every X seconds until a certain "flag" (or similar mechanism) changes state and check it in a before header process. In the meanwhile you can display some animated GIF for instance.
    Once the processing is completed you remove the reload timer from the header or you branch to a different page using a programmatic technique like procedure owa_util.redirect_url.

  • How to attatch sub vi . can we do it the same way as we call functions in C and return values to the main vi?

    I am creating a Vi. I want to do a sub function. I want to connect a switch to a toggle flip flop so need to  use a push button switch in the input  but at the same time take its output to a true/false loop and execute it according to the ourput of the toggle flip flop which will have an ON and OFF state.
    Jeril

    In the front panel you can r-click the top right icon and "Show Connector". Click which controls and indicator you want to be your interface. Then drag it to your main application and it'll work as a sub-vi. You can do this for all VI's. Just like the "+" VI takes two numbers (controls) and return one result (indicator).

  • Calling BSP from report and return control back ?

    Hi All,
          My requirement is as follows :-
    1. I am calling a BSP from report using CL_GUI_HTML_VIEWER->show_url. The BSP page is displayed successfully.
    2. Then, I perform some operations and want to return some data back to the main program (from where it was called - Report) and continue execution from there
    How do I accomplish the second requirement (Control doesnt come back once I close the BSP) ?
    Regards,
    Ashish

    how to generate events from html code in the html control back to your ABAP check out this demo program
    SAPHTML_EVENTS_DEMO
    say for example, in your case you are showing the BSP in GUI HTML control and on clicking a link you want to pass some data from your link to ABAP program and the ABAP should receive the value and process it and may be comeback to same BSP or go some to some other screen/transaction.
    steps to follow:
    after creating the html control
    register event for call back and call the BSP url.
    create object hviewer
                 exporting
                   parent = mycont.
        myevent-eventid = hviewer->m_id_sapevent.
        myevent-appl_event = 'x'.
        append myevent to myevent_tab.
        call method hviewer->set_registered_events
          exporting
            events = myevent_tab.
        create object evt_receiver.
        set handler evt_receiver->on_sapevent
                    for hviewer.
        hviewer->enable_sapsso(
          exporting
            enabled    = 'X'
          exceptions
            cntl_error = 1
            others     = 2
        if sy-subrc <> 0.
        endif.
        call method hviewer->show_url
          exporting
            url = wf_url.
    in your BSP the link should look like below
    A HREF=SAPEVENT:TAGS?value to be passed to your ABAP> link text </a
    when you click this link in bsp then you can then capture the value "TAGS" to know which link was clicked and the value passed after the ?
    link is just one option, you can also send whole form data.
    this type of link and form will only work when your BSP is invoked within HTML contro. if its invoked from standalone browser these wont work. so you amy want to dynamically show/hide "sapevent" links based on where it runs.
    Hope this is clear. if not do getback.

  • Calling VA03 item screen and return to calling program

    Hi Exports,
        Good Day....
    I am having one issue in my development.
    My requirement is, I am calling VA03 item screen form my report output based on the user selected order and when user clicks on back butten it should come to my report output list insted of VA03 initial screen. please provide me the solution.
    now calling the VA03 next screen based on the selected order by using BDC, but while clicks on BACK butten it is comming to VA03 initial screen insted of my report output. i need go my report output when i clicks on back button, please help me on this.
    Thanks,
    Firdous

    Hi,
    Instead of calling the BDC program for nevigating to VA03 transaction from your report. you can use the user the SET PARAMETER statement to set the sales order no. and then call the transaction VA03 skipping first screen.
    SET PARAMETER ID 'AUN' sales order number.
    CALL TRANSACTION 'VA03' and SKIP FIRST SCREEN.
    This will nevigate you to the second scren of the VA03 screen and if you press back button it will come to the report again.

  • BPM process calling another BPM process synchronously

    Hi,
    When have a BPM (SCENARIO_1) that receives a request.
    The BPM makes a SYNC call to another BPM (SCENARIO_2_SYNC_SEND). The second BPM should return the sync response to the first BPM. The second BPM has been implemented as a SYNC/ASYNC bridge. .........This scenario is NOT working.
    We have independently tested the second BPM and can confirm that it works correctly and as expected when it is NOT called by another BPM.
    design steps of BPM
    1. BPM (SCENARIO_1)
               start -> receive(async) - >send(sync - calls 2nd BPM) -> stop
    2. BPM (SCENARIO_2_SYNC_SEND). (this BPM is invoked by first BPM (SCENARIO_1)
                start ->receive(sync -open SA bridge) ->send(sync - calls webService) ->send(closes SA bridge)
    Is SAP PI supports synchronous call from one BPM to another BPM???
    rgds,
    RDS

    Hi Henrique,
    we also done the BPM calling another BPM asynchronousl;y, which is working fine.
    In this case, I designed BPM like follows (as initially mentioned)
    1. BPM (SCENARIO_1)
    start -> receive(async) - >send(sync - calls 2nd BPM) -> stop
    Note : In 'send' step, I selected 'Create New Transaction'.......if I don't select this property then system dumping without invoking the second BPM, When I select this property the second BPM is invoked after the 1st BPM completes i.e it waits for  CHECK_FOR_ASYNC_RESPONSE_TIMEOUT (default value 60 secs)  to elapse. during this time an entry in the outbound queue (smq2) appears
    2. BPM (SCENARIO_2_SYNC_SEND). (this BPM is invoked by first BPM (SCENARIO_1)
    start ->receive(sync -open SA bridge) ->send(sync - calls webService) ->send(closes SA bridge)
    how do we check whether it using more than one queue??
    we have only looked at smq1 & smq2.
    We see an entry in SMQ2 which stays there for the timeout period of the first BPM.
    It seems as if the second bpm doesnt see it until the first BPM closes.
    I might think this is appropriate behaviour to stop the engine processing the same message more than once which would explain the behaviour we are seeing. However this would mean PI would not support BPM synchronously calling BPM which is what we are trying to determine if it is supported.
    We cant find any documentation saying this is possible and alot of documentation indicates workarounds.
    Have you ever seen this scenario implemented.
    <removed by moderator>
    Hi supriya,
    There is no problem in getting the response from webservice, the problem is the BPM which calls webservice itself invoked after the timeout of first BPM.

  • Call sync BPM from Async BPM - issue

    Hi,
    Outline: I'm trying to call a synchronous BPM from an asynchronous BPM in a PI 7.0 SP 14 system.
    When doing so i get the following error: Object CL_SWF_XI_MSG_BROKER method SEND_SYNCHRON cannot be executed.
    Now this is an oldie when searching the forums for this error message. I do however fail to see a solution to the problem.
    Note that the following notes (referred to in similar posts)
    - 710445
    - 718734
    - 830803
    are implemented since theese refer to older versions of PI.
    My scenario is very simple at present since i've startet from scratch again after getting the error. So what i do is:
    1) send async message to async BPM
    2) async BPM receives request
    3) async bpm transform request til sync_request.
    4) async BPM calls synchronous BPM
    5) sync BPM receives request and opens a async/sync bridge
    6) sync BPM maps request to response
    7) sync BPM sends response and closes async/sync bridge
    8) async BPM reveices sync_response
    9) async BPM sends sync_response to some application
    Now step 8 i never succesfully executed. Instead the error earlier described is triggered.
    For simplicity i use 1 and only 1 message type in all message interfaces. I have mapping between my synchronous interfaces outside of BPM.
    The synchronus BPM is executed just fine. The only issue is getting the reponse back to the asynchronous BPM.
    I am familiar with the following similar posts:
    - Object CL_SWF_XI_MSG_BROKER method SEND_SYNCHRON cannot be executed
    - Problem in posting the data in the syncronous mode
    but find them to be of no use.
    Hope someone can help.
    Best Regards,
    Daniel

  • BPM(with wait step) calling another BPM

    Hello,
    I have this scenario whereby i need to call a BPM from another BPM process. Call it BPM1 and BPM2. BPM1 will have a Sync-Send-step to call BPM2.
    The following is what i have setup:-
    Working OKAY:-
    BPM1 (receive from file, send syn step to BPM2) --> BPM2(receive step (Open S/A Brige) from BPM1, send step (Close S/A Bridge))
    But if i put an wait step (for 1 minute, see below) before the send syn step in BPM1, i will have problem and the queue in BPM1 show "STOP" and the BPM2 queue show "RETRY".
    Problem:-
    BPM1 (receive from file, wait step, send syn step to BPM2) --> BPM2(receive step (Open S/A Brige) from BPM1, send step (Close S/A Bridge))
    Yes, the RETRY will work but the problem is, my BPM1 has already timeout and has ERROR (see from SWWL) and BPM2 has exceptional error in the Close A/S Bridge send step (because it can't send back to BPM1).
    Anyone has any idea how to resolve this? and hopefully the above is clear enough to discribe the problem that i'm facing now.
    Any suggestions are welcome, scott.

    The minimum BPM-wait duration is 1 min and cannot be decreased below that....

    My Portal has suddenly giving me a very strange error. When i am trying to click on a link in portal which is supposed to call a BPM application where the UI is designed in Webdynpro for Java, i am getting an error saying - Website can not display page.
    The error is coming since the re-start of Portal server. Ours is federated portal scenario, the CE is producer and EP is consumer Portal.

    After analyzing the issue i understood that the Federation is not working..

  • BRM Webservice call from BPM as an automated activity in CE 7.2

    Dear All,
    A simple BRM ruleset is created and published as a webservice. The WSDL is available at NWA ->SOA Management-> Application and Scenario Communication-> Single Service Administration.
    The webservice test in WSNAVIGATOR provides the expected results.
    In the BPM process flow, an automated activity has been created for the webservice call. This activity contains the 'Service Interface' and 'Service Reference' of the imported WSDL.
    Issue:
    When the process is started, the BRM webservice call results in error. The error is not visible in the log but the process flow shows a green symbol on the automatic activity, thereby indicating that the webservice call does not end and the process remains in 'In progress' state.
    Can you please provide your inputs?
    Thanks,

  • BPM  - Crate new Transactio - Error when call another BPM

    Hi,
    I have an XI application with BPMs and the XI with SP8.
    The fist BPM has transformations and send steps and calls the second BPM.
    In the DEV environment we are applying SP12, now it's possible to disable the option "Create New Transaction" for Send and Transformation.
    I need to disable this option because, my application woks with bad performance and use 100% of the workprocess all the time.
    So, when I disabled this option, "Send Stets" whose call another BPMs didn't work fine. The transformations steps and send steps to R/3 worked fine.
    Does anybody know why send step to another BPM doesn't work when call another's BPMs?
    Best Regards,

    Interesting issue. Have never tried it personally and currently working on a SP 16 XI 3.0 system else would have given this a shot.
