Called forms behave differently

I have two forms which can be called from another.
One of them behaves modally with respect to the calling form but I can use the window menu to go to other open forms.
The other behaves entirely modally. Any attempt to use the window menu to go to other open forms is ignored.
As far as I am aware, I have not done anything to cause this difference in behaviour and both forms are called in the same way. Can anyone think what could be causing it ?

I have found it - the sole window in one of the called forms was set to modal.
What I intend to do from now on when calling single window forms which I want to be modal is set the window to modal and use open_form instead of call_form. The advantage is that it will reduce the risk of
"FRM-41353 Cannot start another call form"
The calling trigger will not be able to cope with returned values, but that can be done in WHEN-FORM-NAVIGATE. This is typically for use in forms which are used as a LOV. I recommend this to anyone who has FRM-41353 problems.

  • Same URL when called from other page when called directly behaves different

    Hi All,
    I am working on SRM 5.0 implementation , the open catalog interface applications are called from a link from the standard ITS  (thses catalog applications are developed in BSP) and then submited back to the ITS application using a URL :
    va r ret_URL = "<% = hook_ur l%>"   <--- this is the return URl to which catalog data is submited
    d ocument.f inal . action = ret_URL;
    d ocument .final .method = " P O S T ";
    d ocument. final. submit ( );
    This application is transfered perfectly if the catalog is called by clicking link on standard ITS application(EBP application) but if i enter the catalog URL(BSP Application URL) directly in the browser and hardcode the value of HOOK_URL (ret_url) in BSP application , the catalog is submited but it shows a blank page with javascript error 'window.opener.isLeanWP' is null or not an object .
    hook_url = http://sapupd.mycompanyname.com:8002/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/bbpsc02/?~OkCode=ADDI&~Target=_top&~Caller=CTLG&~client=200&sap-client=200&~language=EN&~HTTP_CONTENT_CHARSET=utf-8
    Kindly suggest the solution. We need to call the OCI application directly and submit it to ITS application using this hook_url.

  • Use the same form with different button turned on in different calls

    Can I use the same form with different buttons turned on in different calls?
    Thanks!

    This is to avoid piracy. What could happen is, people could buy music, and give it away for free online. Usually it is then you buy a complete album off iTunes that it will only be available on one device. It is tied to that account, and the device must be registered to that account to listen to it.

  • Executable behaving different when called f/Java

    I have an executable that is run from the command line which behaves differently when I run it from my application. The executable takes MP3s files as arguments and merges them together. When I use large files from within my app, it doesn't respond, but using the same files from the command line works fine. I was thinking it might be a memory thing, but the executable should get its own space seperate from the VM. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

    I do not have the source for the executable, so I wouldn't be able to pull lines out of there. It works from my Java app when I pass in smaller files, so I know I have the syntax correct, but with larger files it hangs. When I run the same thing from the command line with the larger files it runs like a champ. I was trying to use my task manager (I'm on Win NT) to look at memory usage since the only variable seems to be file size, but nothing seems to indicate it is a memory issue.

  • File Not found error when calling Form Post Method to a JSP from JSP Portlet

    I have built a set of JSP forms using post method to call other JSPs. Normally, the code looks like
    <form name="MyForm" action="MyJsp.jsp" method="post">
    I migrated the calling form containing this code to a portlet, but not the MyJsp.jsp. When I submit the form, I get a file not found in Jserv.log
    Exception:javax.servlet.ServletException: java.io.FileNotFoundException: D:\servlet\RegisterCompany.jsp (The system cannot find the file specified)
    [14/06/2001 13:59:59:679 PDT] JspServlet: unable to dispatch to requested page: Exception:javax.servlet.ServletException: java.io.FileNotFoundException: d:\oracle\isuites\apache\apache\MyJsp.jsp (The system cannot find the file specified)
    I notice that launching the calling jsp from a portlet, my opriginal context that uses ../Apache/Apache/htdocs is not being searched for the JSp. Why is this? Moreover, I try to set up an Alias in httpd.conf file to the this director and use it with the jsp in the action tag, but still get an error that my jsp servlets/Myjsp can't be found. Why is it insiting on looking at servlets context instead of htdocs.
    I have none of these issues outside of Portal30 using IAS.
    regard

    Initially, I couldn't do this unless I moved tghe jsp's up to the root directory of IAS, i.e ../Apache/Apache. Nomrally, htdocs is my doc directory for IAS. I could not do http:\\myUrl\htdocs\myJsp. If I tgried this, I got an error in Apache error logg that said can't find file ..\htdocs\htdocs\MyJsp.jsp.
    If I just tried the the URL http:\\myUrl\MyJsp.jsp with Jsp file in htdocs, I would get an error in the Jserve log that file d:\oracle\isuites\apache\apache\MyJsp.jsp could not be found. Once I moved the file MyJsp to Apache/Apache directory, it could be found using http:\\myUrl\MyJsp.jsp. Later, I delted these files and kept the ones in htdocs and they continued to work.
    I'm confused why launching pages through portal isn't consistant with Apache Standards. Where is the documentation that tells me how to configure context and aliases for pages launched from portal pages?

  • Calling form with new db connection

    Hi all,
    This is my problem. I have a requirement to call a form from the when-button-pressed trig of a different form and connect to that called form using a different username/password/connect string. I used logout and logon to do it and it works fine for me (or this machine). My problem is that it doesn't work for anyone else. Whenever anyone else tries the same button (including myself logged into the form on a different machine) they get the error ORA-01012 Not Logged On.
    I have the following code in the pre-form trigger of the called form :
    logout;
    Logon ('scott','tiger'&#0124; &#0124;'@'&#0124; &#0124;'dev');
    AS I said it works for me on this machine. What am I missing? Thanks in advance.

  • Calling forms from sub-directories

    Greetings,
    I have 19 different apps that are on a Solaris Application server in separate directories. I do have the FORMS_PATH set to the "root" but I was wondering if it is possible to call forms in one of the sub-directories without having to add that sub-directory to the FORMS_PATH.
    So far have tried CALL_FORM('ats/ats_ro_2') and CALL_FORM('/ats/ats_ro_2')
    Regards,
    Bill Chadbourne

    It may be possible, but i would not recommend to do so. What happens if you at some point decide to restructure your applicarion? You would have to adjust all your calls.
    if you really want to go that way and you have only one path in your FORMS_PATH, you could read the FORMS_PATH using TOOLENV.GETVAR and then use the full qualified path to call your forms.

  • Hashtable behaves differently in 32 bit vs 64 bit application

    Hi,
    I have an application that I am porting from 32-bit to 64-bit deployment. Its a three-tier application with its business logic residing on 2003 servers (currently), and we are moving this logic to 2008 servers. We are going to leverage the 64-bit deployment
    of this business logic, which will be called by clients via IIS 7.5. But when I am executing same code in 2003 env. vs 2008 env., the Hashtables are behaving differently. The issue here is very weird. Let's consider an arbitrary scenario:
    I create a new hashtable, and add three keys to it as below:
    Key1 - Val1
    Key2 - Val2
    Key3 - Val3
    Now when I traverse this Hashtable, I see different behaviors on 2003 and 2008 servers (i.e. 32-bit vs 64-bit processor architecture). When pointing to 2003 servers, the Hashtable traversal gives me keys as
    Key1
    Key2
    Key3.
    However, when I traverse this same Hashtable by pointing to 2008 servers, the traversal happens as
    Key3
    Key1
    Key2
    This difference in ordering is causing multiple issues in the application. The values for these keys are lists of a custom object, and the order in which the Hashtable gets traversed results in different behavior across two environments. Any help on this
    issue ASAP will be highly appreciated.

    How do the keys compare?  If the hashcodes come from the object, does the calculated hash differ between environments?
    Why code the app so that it cares about the order of the hashtable?  If you care about order, then a hashtable is the wrong thing to be using.

  • LOVs again!  How to return multiple fields to calling form

    Hi
    Newbie question, any help GREATLY appreciated :)
    Is there a simple and easy way to return more than one field from a LOV.
    I need this as I have a composite fk comprised of 2 fields, and as such need to return 2 fields from the LOV to the calling form.
    (My environment: JDeveloper 9.0.5.2 build 1618)
    CM

    Thanks, you put me on the right track here. Further investigations show the following sample provided by OTN shows how to use both the session request/response values or a JavaBean to do this:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/products/jdev/10g/ADF_UIX_UserInput.zip
    As such I post my solution to my original post. Hopefully it's useful to someone beside myself. I have to write up my notes anyhow so it's no fuss to submit them to the forum. I must admit I'm a newbie and slightly demented Forms programmer so such solutions aren't so obvious to me. With this in mind please include the "standard disclaimer" here, with the addition "mileage may vary" warranty.
    For these notes I've used the "HR" demo Oracle schema. In particular the tables departments and employees. As you know there is a master-detail relationship between these 2 tables, where each department may have one or more employees.
    We have the requirement on a webpage to:
    1) Provide an input-form-with-navigation to edit the employees.
    2) Display the relating department_name field, rather than just showing the department_id which is meaningless to the user. For example if the employees.department_id = 40, we wish to show the department name "Human Resources" on the employees record.
    3) Provide a LOV for the department ID field to allow the user to change the underlying department_id to a different master departments record.
    4) Update 2) given a change via 3).
    To do this do the following:
    Entity Objects
    1) Create default EO/VOs on both tables.
    2) In the employees EO, create a new field "DepartmentName" to represent the derived department name field.
    3) Set the new EO attribute's selected-in-query field.
    4) In the query-column-expression field, enter a query to derive the department name field for each record in the detail-employees-EO.
    eg. (SELECT dpt.department_name FROM departments dpt WHERE dpt.department_id = employees.department_id)
    Ensure to include the brackets.
    5) Apply the changes and accept the warning to create default data-type settings for the new attribute.
    View Object
    6) In the employees VO, include the new field DepartmentName as a selected attribute from the EO.
    7) Apply the changes and accept the warning to create default data-type settings for the new attribute.
    8) Test the model by running the ADF BC tester. Once running select the employees VO and step through the records, making sure the DepartmentName field has a value and changes appropriately according to the relating parent department_id.
    UIX input-only-form
    9) Create a new UIX web page employeesEdit.
    10) From the data-control pallete, drag in the employees VO as an input-form-with-navigation.
    11) For testing purposes it is also useful to have a create, delete, commit and rollback button, so includes these too.
    12) Within the employees VO data-control, also drag across a messageLovInput for the DepartmentId. Position it under the existing DepartmentId messageTextInput within the UIX page. We'll remove the existing messageTextInput later, but it's useful to leave it in for testing purposes initially when the LOV returns values.
    UIX LOV
    13) Navigate to the default LOV page that has just been created for you.
    14) Within the data-control pallete, expand the departments VO, select department ID then LOV-table from the drop-down, and drag this item onto the LOV page.
    15) Save your changes.
    16) Run your application. For an existing employee, invoke the department LOV and select an alternative department. Note on returning to the employees page the DepartmentID (both the messageTextInput and messageLovInput fields) are updated, but the DepartmentName is not. To do this we need to create a JavaBean to return multiple fields from the LOV to the original form.
    JavaBean
    17) Within your ViewController project, expand the ApplicationSources-View node.
    18) Select the new button, and create a standard JavaBean.
    19) Name the bean DepartmentsLov.
    20) Via the class editor, add 2 private scope fields DepartmentId and DepartmentName with String data-types, ensuring the create get/set method checkboxes are checked.
    21) Make and save your changes.
    22) From the navigator drag the newly created java file into the data-control palette.
    UIX LOV
    23) Return to the LOV webpage.
    24) Your LOV page will have a lovSelect event handler something like the following:
    <event name="lovSelect">
    <set property="inputValue"
    value="${bindings.DepartmentId.inputValue}"
    target="${data.employeesEdit.DepartmentId}"/>
    25) Change the lovSelect as follows:
    <event name="lovSelect">
    <compound>
    <set property="inputValue"
    value="${bindings.DepartmentId.inputValue}"
    target="${data.employeesEdit.DepartmentId}"/>
    <set value="${bindings.DepartmentId.inputValue}"
    property="inputValue"
    target="${bindings.JavaBeanDepartmentId}"/>
    <set value="${bindings.DepartmentName.inputValue}"
    property="inputValue"
    target="${bindings.JavaBeanDepartmentName}"/>
    </compound>
    26) Within the UI model navigator, right-click on the top node, then create-binding, input, text field.
    27) Select the AppModuleDataControl, then DepartmentView, then the DepartmentName field, and then the ok button.
    28) In the UI model select the new field, then in the structure pane rename the field to DepartmentName.
    29) Within the UI model navigator, right-click on the top node, then create-binding, data, iterator.
    30) Select the DepartmentsLovDataControl and name the new iterator DepartmentsJavaBeanIterator.
    31) Again in the UI model navigator, right-click on the top node, then create-binding, input, text field.
    32) Select the DepartmentsLovDataControl then departmentId field, then the ok button.
    33) In the UI model select the new field, then in the structure pane rename the field to JavaBeanDepartmentId.
    34) Again in the UI model navigator, right-click on the top node, then create-binding, input, text field.
    35) Select the DepartmentsLovDataControl then departmentName field, then the ok button.
    36) In the UI model select the new field, then in the structure pane rename the field to JavaBeanDepartmentName.
    UIX input-only-form
    37) Return to the main employeesEdit UIX form.
    38) Your UIX page will have a lovUpdate event handler something like the following:
    <event name="lovUpdate">
    <null/>
    39) Change the lovUpdate as follows:
    <event name="lovUpdate">
    <compound>
    <set value="${bindings.JavaBeanDepartmentId.inputValue}"
    property="inputValue"
    target="${bindings.DepartmentId}"/>
    <set value="${bindings.JavaBeanDepartmentName.inputValue}"
    property="inputValue"
    target="${bindings.DepartmentName}"/>
    </compound>
    </event>
    40) Repeat steps 29 through 36 for this page.
    41) Within the UIX page find the entries for the departmentId LOV, and the DepartmentName. They should look something like the following:
    <messageLovInput id="${bindings.DepartmentId.path}"
    model="${bindings.DepartmentId}"
    destination="lovWindow1.uix"/>
    <messageTextInput model="${bindings.DepartmentName}"
    columns="10"/>
    42) Modify these 2 entries as follows:
    <messageLovInput id="DepartmentId"
    model="${bindings.DepartmentId}"
    destination="lovWindow1.uix"
    partialRenderMode="multiple"
    partialTargets="DepartmentId DepartmentName"/>
    <messageTextInput id="DepartmentName"
    model="${bindings.DepartmentName}"
    columns="10"/>
    43) Finally delete the original DepartmentId messageTextInput field, leaving the DepartmentId messageLovInput.
    Testing
    44) Open your UIX input-only-form.
    45) Call the LOV and change the department for an existing employee record.
    46) Return to the employees page and note that the department ID and name have changed.
    47) Commit your changes.
    48) With your favourite data inspection tool (a'la Toad), check that the employee record's department ID has been appropriately saved to the database.

                                  ,'xmlns="http://schemas.myco.nl/services/IPP"'
                                  ))) v
    where f.id = 1; -- Selects from the xmltype message that does have xmlns specified
    This returns (as the first row)
    IND IND2
    ____ 1002
    ^
    |------ Nothing is returned by the XPATH /Product/@Ind
    Second without using xmlns
    select extractvalue(value(v),'/Product/@Ind' ) ind
    , extractvalue(value(v),'/*/@Ind' ) ind2
    from xml_messages f
    , TABLE(XMLSequence( extract(f.message
         ,'/Bereken/Reglementen/Reglement/Producten/Product'
                                  ))) v
    where f.id = 2; -- Selects from the xmltype message that has no xmlns
    This returns (as the first row)
    IND IND2
    1002 1002
    According to XMLSpy, the correct XPATH to get the "Ind" attribute is "/Product/@Ind" so what I dont understand is why query one doesnt return any data when using a default namespace.
    The XPATH "/*/@Ind" works in both cases and can be used as a workaround, but it seems less elegant than using the proper XPATH.
    I've tried this test case in 9i and 10g, in sqlplus and TOAD, with the same results in all cases.
    Can anyone provide some insight as to why this behavior occurs?

    Thanks, A_Non,
    adding the third parm to the extractvalue part of the query works.
    ie:
    select extractvalue(value(v),'/Product/@Ind', 'xmlns="http://schemas.myco.nl/services/IPP"' ) ind
    , extractvalue(value(v),'/*/@Ind' ) ind2
    from xml_messages f
    , TABLE(XMLSequence( extract(f.message
         ,'/Bereken/Reglementen/Reglement/Producten/Product'
                                  ,'xmlns="http://schemas.myco.nl/services/IPP"'
                                  ))) v
    where f.id = 1;
    I had not expected this because I thought the xml fragment returned by the extract didnt include the default namespace.
    However, when looking at the query in more detail, its clear Oracle automatically includes the xmlns part in the returned xml fragment.
    One of the rows in the xml fragment:
    <Product xmlns="http://schemas.myco.nl/services/IPP" Ind="1002" ogr="27098.00" bbr="27098.00" igl="65" elt="130" pgs="63758.00" slt="65" plt="0" reg="0" orf="0"/>

  • Using Call_Form - want to retain data in existing calling Form

    Hi All,
    I would be grateful for assistance with the following scenario:
    Form A calls Form B and when user presses 'SAVE' (not to commit to the database) button in Form B then customer
    wants the program to return to Form A, commit current pending changes on Form A and then
    return to Form B and commit changes there.
    At the moment when the program goes back to Form A then understandably When New Form instance
    fires and the program will retrieve records from the database however that is not what I want. I want the
    records on the Form to be that which they were prior to calling Form B and as such for a commit to be applied
    to these added/changed records.
    Then, likewise I can call Form B but again I want the current records on Form B to then be applied to the
    database.
    I don't want to use EXIT_FORM in Form B to go back to Form A because the changes in Form B will be lost and
    I don't want to commit changes in Form B prior to committing changes in Form A due to business reasons that the
    customer has given.
    So really I was just wondering if either with Call_Form or another method there was a way of retaining the data on
    the calling form when calling another form?
    Your help would be much appreciated.
    Kind Regards

    At the moment when the program goes back to Form A then understandably When New Form instance firesNo, it does not. Control goes exactly to the codeline after the CALL_FORM
    But anyway, your scenario will not work the way you have it now. If you want to return from B to A you will have to do an EXIT_FORM and therefore loose all outstanding changes in Form B.
    Two possible solution i can think of:
    1. Merge the two forms into one and make the items of Form B appear in a different window. For the user it will look the same, but you can issue one COMMIT_FORM and both changes will be applied. I would go with this approach
    2. Issue a POST in Form A before calling Form B. Then, if users saves in Form B, issue another POST and set some flag. When returning to Form A, check that flag and issue a COMMIT_FORM to make changes permanently. If Form B is left without saving you may have to do a ROLLBACK or leave the form with EXIT_FORM(ROLLBACK);

  • Thread is behaving differently on different machines??

    Hi
    I am developing a Java Swing application, which launches an external exe.
    Then I am using a Thread to monitor whether the launched exe is running or terminated abruptly by using its PID. If it terminates then the thread shows a msg box.
    Everything works fine in my machine and in few other machines.
    But the same thread stop abruptly on some other machines... and displays the msg box even though the exe is running correctly.
    And I heard thread behaves differently on different CPUs'.
    How to handle this situation??
    Please help.
    This is my code:
    public class SolverPoller implements Runnable
            String solver = null;
            int PID;
             * Constructor to initialise the Thread
             * @param programName - Solver execuatable name
             * @param pid - Process ID of the running solver
            SolverPoller(String programName, int pid)
                solver = programName;
                PID = pid;
                //reset the blnClosedAbruptly
                blnClosedAbruptly = false;
            public void run()
                File deleteFile = null;
                try
                    //if the stored PID and refreshed are same
                    //Continue waiting
                    while(checkPIDOfSolver(String.valueOf(PID), solver))
                        //sleep for a sec
                        Thread.sleep(1000);
                    //When the solver process terminates
                    //interrupt ProgressBarIncrementer Thread
                    inc.interrupt();
                    if(Delia.getProcessorType() == 'T')
                        deleteFile = new File("TIP3DSolver.res");
                    else if(Delia.getProcessorType() == 'S')
                        deleteFile = new File("SPLITVISSolver.res");
                    if(!deleteFile.exists())
                        //set it to true, indicating solver terminated abruptly
                        blnClosedAbruptly = true;
                        progressBar.setValue(0);
                        progressBar.setStringPainted(true);
                        progressBar.setString("0%");
                        progressBar.repaint();
                        JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(DentonIntegratedToolApp.getDentonInstance().getFrame().getContentPane(), "Solver terminated abruptly!", "Solver Error", JOptionPane.ERROR_MESSAGE);
                catch(InterruptedException ie)
                catch(Exception e)
                finally
                    deleteFile = null;
        }Praveen

    I'm not sure if this matters, but it appears that you are calling Swing methods off of the EDT beginning with "progressBar.setValue(0);". What happens if you wrap those calls in a Runnable and call them with SwingUtilities.invokeLater(...)?

  • How can I share data between two forms on different lists

    Using a custom content type, I created two lists that I want to share the same data - one is a calendar.  Our employees complete a form from the "Out of Office Request" list that has workflow functionality that sends an email to that person's
    manager.  If the manager approves the request, the item automatically populates the "Out of Office Calendar."  The problem is that the only information from the request list that populates the calendar is the Title field and date/time fields.
    I need the manager name in order to create a view for each manager.
    How can I connect the other information in the request list to the calendar list.  It seems to me that if the title and date fields carry over the information, there should be a way to connect the other information.  I'm using Designer.
    I've tried to connect the two lists' webparts with the wizard, but when I get to the page that maps the two lists, there are no column names and the "Next >" button is grayed out.  This seems like the logical place to connect the two lists,
    but it isn't working.

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted share data between two forms on different lists.
    To show external  information on the calendar event, there are two methods: Calculated column, workflow. You can refer to:
    A Simple Guide to Show More Information on a Calendar Event
    I recommend to use workflow to achieve what you want. But you need to create a people column to display the manager.
    You can create a workflow associated to the "Out of Office Request" list, add action to Start Approve Process. If the manager approves the request, you can create a item in the calendar, and then update the people column and the title column.
    Then the calendar will display the Title, date/time and the manager.
    To create a view for each manager, you need to modify the Filter. You can use the people column is equal to the manager name or the Title contains the manager name.
    Thank you for your understanding.

  • Called form in query only mode shows messages....

    Hi All,
    I am calling a form (say B ) in query only mode from a main form (say A) . When i query the called form B , i get 5-6 alerts (which has to be acknowledged by the user) and messages of the same error type saying :
    "FRM-40208 : Form running in query only mode . Cannot change database fields. "
    I have a 100 forms to be called from the main form A. So, I prefer not to change anything in the called forms . I tried to set message_level in the form A and code the on-error / on-message triggers to avoid the messages being shown, but nothing is working . Is there anything I can do in Form A i.e the main form ???
    Thanking you in advance.

    Since the error messages are being generated by form B, it is unlikely you will be able to fix form B problem using form A. Unfortunately, you may have to fix each of the 100 called forms.
