Calling a function of an object

If I have an object, and then create a function in this
object, what syntax
do I use to call this function?
SEND_VOTE_OBJECT = new Object();
SEND_VOTE_OBJECT.SEND_VOTE=function(){
//function code
SEND_VOTE_OBJECT.SEND_VOTE();
I thought this would work but it doesn't!
What would be the correct syntax?
Many thanks
Dave

Thanks for the reply, it has made me look closer.
In my actual code I was calling the function before the
function was
defined, and that was why it wasn't working.
i.e like this
SEND_VOTE_OBJECT = new Object();
SEND_VOTE_OBJECT.SEND_VOTE();
SEND_VOTE_OBJECT.SEND_VOTE=function(){
trace('hi')

  • Calling a function on an object passed as argument

    Hi everyone,
    i'm trying to call an actionscript function on an object passed as argument to a c function. Here are how I do :
    I have a class named test_class implemented as
    package
         public class test_class
              public var bliblou:int;
    and a C function that have to modify the bliblou var of an test_class object passed as argument. Here is my function :
    static AS3_Val test_obj_param( void* self, AS3_Val args )
         AS3_Val obj;
         AS3_ArrayValue( args, "AS3ValType ", &obj );
         AS3_Set( obj, AS3_String("bliblou"), AS3_Int( 123456 ) );
         return AS3_Null();
    Then I call the function in my actionscript main function like this :
    var loader:CLibInit = new CLibInit;
    var lib:Object = loader.init();
    var test:test_class = new test_class();
    lib.test_obj_param( test );
    But when the test_obj_param is trying to run, I obtain an error saying "unable to access a propriety of a null object".
    What am I doing wrong ? Is it possible to do what I try to (calling a function on an object passed as argument) ?
    Thanks in advance

    After a long trip to Alchemy possibilities and a lot of tests I have finally found a solution to my question.
    Instead of using AS3ArrayValue to get my objet, I use the AS3 function shift on the args array to get my object. Here is how I do
    static AS3_Val test_obj_param( void* self, AS3_Val args )
         AS3_Val emptyParams = AS3_Array("");
         AS3_Val obj = AS3_CallS( "shift", args, emptyParams );
         AS3_SetS( obj, "bliblou", AS3_Int( 123456 ) );
         AS3_Release(emptyParams);
         return AS3_NULL();
    Maybe there is a bug in the AS3ValType getter.

  • Muse JS Assert: Error calling selector function:Type error: Object has no method Muse Menu

    When exporting html and viewing locally we receive the following error... This error disappears after removing menu from top of page. This error does not occur when viewed on Outdoors360.businesscatalyst.com (our temporary site)
    Muse JS Assert: Error calling selector function:Type error: Object has no method Muse Menu
    Any ideas??

    I fix the problem.
    I have carefully reviewed JAVASCRIPT files and I could see that these are not a major influence within the site, only are reference code and utilities of the same application.
    By removing these files nothing has stopped working, I thought I would have some error in the sliders, or opacities, but no, nothing happened.

  • Can we call custom functions in view objects?

    Can we call custom functions in view objects?these custom functions are from my backing bean...
    Please help.....

    User,
    You can certainly add code to your view objects to do whatever you like.
    However, it would be considered a very bad practice to call something in the backing bean from your view object. It violates the whole MVC design principle of ADF.
    Perhaps if you can share your real use case, someone will give you ideas about the best way to do it, but I, for one, would advise you to forget about calling a backing bean function from your view object.
    Best,
    John

  • Call package function in view object

    ok i have a viewobject with a select statement to a table.
    in the where clause i would like to call to a package function,
    how can i do this?

    If you can call the function in a sql statement (i.e. in SQLDeveloper) you can use expert mode in the VO and type in the sql statement there. It should work like in SQLDeveloper.

  • Why can't I call the function in the swf from the javascript?

    Hello,
    I have an html file that calls the function in swf file. In the swf file, I registered the function to be called using ExternalInterface.addCallback, as the book says.
    And I put this swf file in the html file using <object> tag and attempted to call the function using this object's id attribute.
    But every time to run this file, what I see is the error message such as "test1.show is not a function".
    Why is it?
    Please anyone help me. I am enclosing my work file. It's very simple one.
    Thank you.
    Daniel.

    It is entirely possible your college has decided to block certain websites. It's easy to do.

  • Call a function, which name is in an Array of Strings...

    hey all
    i have a simple Temp class (made to check things) in a file called Temp.java with the following definition :
    public class Temp {
         int data1;
         int data2;
         public Temp (){
              data1=0;
              data2=0;
         (here i have get and set functions for both data1 and data 2, and i have the two following functions)
         public void printAdd(){
              System.out.println("Result : "+(data1+data2));
         public void printSubtract(){
              System.out.println("Result : "+(data1-data2));
    }i have another class called Server who has the following simple code :
    public class Server {
          public static void main( String args[] )
               String[] table={"printAdd","printSubtract"};
               Temp game=new Temp();
               game.setdata1(8);
               game.setdata2(4);
              //the following two calls work perfectly
               game.printAdd();
               game.printSubtract();
                   System.out.println(table[0]);
    //but the following does not...
               game.(table[0]);
    }as probably you have understood i am trying to call a function to the object game which name is in the String table... how can i actually made a call game.(THE_VALUE_OF_STRING_IN_AN_ARRAY) ...?

    i want to call the function printAdd() to the game object..
    but i want the program to find out the name of the function to call.. i want to execute the function whose name is at the array in position 0 -> table[0]
    so i want the program to resolve the table[0] to printAdd and the use it and call it on object game...

  • How to call a function from a different script object?

    Hi All,
    Here is the scenario,
    I have 2 script objects A and B .
    In script object A i have a function called "funcA" and
    in script object B i have a function called "funcB"
    Now I want to call funcA from funcB which is not happening.
    I tried doing
    A.funcA();
    inside funcB , but not able to access.
    Kindly help.
    Thanks
    Abhiram

    Hi Abhiram,
    Just a guess - try including the root node/node reference above the script object.
    form1.A.funcA();
    What does the JavaScript Console say when firing the function? Are there any errors?
    Your script objects can contain multiple functions. So you could move funcA() and funcB() into the same script object. This will make it easier.

  • Tuning a procedure and using dbms_job.submit proc that call's functions

    Hi
    I have Procedure that have 3 curosrs which are nested one below with in each other
    and it looks as below
    it's structure will look some thing look like this
    declare
    empno_fetch number;
    CURSOR deu_process IS
    SELECT empno
    FROM emp
    WHERE flg_process = 'N'
    AND ROWNUM <= 5000
    ORDER BY empno;
    CURSOR dup_all IS --c1 fetch around 400000 records
    (select empno
    from emp
    where empno>l_empno
    order by empno
    where rownum<=empno_fetch;
    CURSOR rules IS --c2
    SELECT rule_id, rule_score, name_Of_func
    FROM rule;
    begin
    l_count := 1;
    OPEN dedupe_rule_attr;
    LOOP
    BEGIN
    Here one loop is used for fetching 5000 records at time and
    Here deu_process cursor is opened ,assume it fetches one record
    Here another cursor dup_all is used for fetching the records and assume it fetched 400000 then
    Here another cursor is opened name where it fetches 10 rows
    Here logic is if first row then
    call's stored function which has following functionalty
    it compares fields such as address of outer most cursor i.e deu_process with all the address of the other rows i.e 400000 rows and return a number
    if second row then
    call's another stored function which has
    compares other fields such as first name,last name
    if third then other field
    so on ....
    up to 10
    and then finally ends
    so if i comment all the rules loop then it takes only one min to execute .If it validaes all of them if takes 14 minutes to execute .so there is problem in that 10 procedures to execute
    So i found an approach to run all the rules simultaneously using dbms_job .But i face a problem that i can't uderstand how to send the input and out put parameter's to calling procedure.And these parameter's must be passed by variable from called procedure to calling procedure
    Please suggest me what is the syntax of dbms_job with input and output parameters with variable's that must be passed as formal parameter's
