Calling a user inputted file to my program
I'm having to do a Secant program where the user is allowed to pick a file(or not) and if they do choose to, they will be using poly.txt files, which just contain the coeffcients for the Xs in the polynomial.
My difficulty is being able to get the file the user asked for in my program. Should this be all one method? Or a few methods?
How should it be constructed?
This is just the first part of the program, but it is really holding me back.
Thanks,
Grim
Something I forgot to add to the last post.
would java.io.* need to be imported? would I use anything from this particular package? I would think so, but I have no idea how to use the stuff.
I tried to use FileRead, with no avail.
I'm such a noobie programmer. :D

Need the format for input file for standard program
hi can any one please give me the format in which the file to be uploaded to program RFBIBL00 ,
must be in for example my excel file to be uploaded has the following columns.
company code
accounting doc
line item
fiscal year
doc type
doc date
so is there any program which can create a file in the format to be uploaded taking this excel sheet.
i read the documentation but i am little confused about that.
thank you.Ok.. I have created one small test program for RFBIBL00.
That program uses this file format:
indicator company code fiscal year doc type doc date positng date header text Account posting key amount item text assignment number ....
H 0001 2007 SA 11/21/2007 11/21/2007 Test from RFBIBL00
D 106210 40 123.3 Line 1
D 106210 50 123.3 Line 2
H 0001 2007 SA 11/21/2007 11/21/2007 Test from RFBIBL00
D 106210 40 123.3 Line 1
D 106210 50 123.3 Line 2
Copy this data into one notepad and save it as .txt file. you need to provide this path to the test program.
The source code of the program (Currently it is only test version):

Opening file to automatically open and run program with input file
My program has the ability to save and open a text file with a custom extension. How do I make the system in which the program is being installed to recognize this file to open the program, AND how to I gather the input file in my program and load it.
Thanks
Solved!
Go to Solution.Ok I have found on a different thread how to setup/register the file path association in the classes root. What I don't understand is how my program will know what the input file is. For example, the reg setting is C:/.../MyProgram.exe %1
When my program loads, is the %1 in the argc/argv part of the main thread? And if so, how do I debug/test this?
Thanks -
UTL_FILE & User Input: Case Sensitive File Names
Hi.
I'm trying to reduce problems due to the whether the user uses upper or lower case or combo of them in entering file names.
Scenario is:
Existing file to be read: Orig_File.Txt (file name changes daily)
Output to be saved into file: RESULTS_FILE.TXT
In response to PL/SQL commands (please see below), the user enters:
ORIG_FILE.TXT and Results_FILE.txt
as the Input & Output file names. The problem is that the input file has been saved using Upper and Lower case and I get back a file not found error.
Is there a way to call a file with is a different case than the input?
Thanks.
Current commands are:
In_File UTL__File.file_type;
Out_File UTL__File.file_type;
Curr_Line VarChar2(2000);
BEGIN
In_File := UTL__File.fopen('UTIL_FILE_DIR', '&input_file', 'R', 2048);
Out_File := UTL__File.fopen('UTIL_FILE_DIR', '&output_file', 'W', 2048);
LOOP
BEGIN
UTL__File.get_line(In_File, Curr_Line, 2048);
.......A shell script would typically issue something along the lines of
newfile=$(ls -C1 | grep -i "\<${filename}\>")although of course it is possible for this to match multiple filenames, so it would have to check for that scenario and report it as an error. possibly you could call a shell script like this from PL/SQL via Java or DBMS_SCHEDULER. Good luck with that though. -
Adobe form not saving user-input data into saved pdf file
Hi forumers,
I'm a new abap developer and I'm tasked to create an interactive adobe form that will require the user to input data in the form.
No data is passed and received from PDF, but PDF has to be u2018Fillableu2019. I am able to fill out the form but when I actually save the form, it will be saved as a blank form again. I've seen the relevance of the LS_DOCPARAMS-FILLABLE = 'X' on this forum and I have incorporated it in my code. But how should I code the abap program to enable to save the user input as well into the form.

If you check the domain "FPINTERACTIVE", you'll see these values:

N Interactive Form Without Additional Usage Rights

So, you are not providing "additional usage rights" (Adobe Form Credentials), meaning there could be a problem when you want to use those forms in a Production environment. -

Get user input and find file and read it.....argh
Ok, so I have to write a program that asks a user for the name of the file they want opened and then it is to read it and then display the max score and the minimum score on the file. also to display the average score on the file. Along with that it is supposed to display how many As, Bs, Cs, Ds, and Fs were on the file IE: a: 1 b: 3 c: 0 d: 4 f: 1. etc.
Also, the next part is to have the program open the input file and then write all the information to an output file. I was able to do this and have the output file show the peoples names and their score along wtih their grade adn then the whole score average at the end of the output file....
My question is how do I do the first part by asking the user for the name of file and then for the program to find the file and then display the max, min, average and how many letter grades the class got?this is what i have so far and the code before didnt work with JCreator, came up with lots of errors......
What do i have to do to get the max value and min value to display along with the amount of As, Bs, Cs, Ds, and Fs????

Alter program execution structure based on input file
I have a program that takes some parameters from an input file then runs a visual acquisition, using IMAQ, controlling some other hardware at the same time. The parameters control the duration of various steps in this process.
There is a stacked sequence structure to control reading in the input file, initialisation of the hardware and then a while loop on the final frame to do the actual acquisition.
The user of the program would now like the capability of having multiple sets of acquisition within the same run, possibly with different duration parameters. This would mean various iterations of the final while loop, based upon the parameters in the input file. There might be 5 acquisition sets on one occasion, 3 on another etc., within one run of the program.
The VI structure already seems a little baroque and I don't want to make it even more complicated.
I would welcome any advice as to the best way to proceed, as I'm very much a LabView novice.
Solved!
Go to Solution.Dear Verdurin
With reference to Cory K's earlier post the most practical and efficient method to achieve acquistion would indeed be to use a Standard State Machine VI sequence structure. This structure executes set code (your own code) and determines which state to transition to. I agree with Cory K's 3 states within the sequence. Using the iterations loop you can define how many iterations of each acquistion you require. In LV, click File > New > From Template > Frameworks > Design Patterns > Standard State Machine. This automatically creates the VI for you to use where you can create the 3 states required.
Within the 3 states input your code into the relevant states to achieve acquistion. Use timing to achieve different duration parameters within the case structure. After you have read from the input file, select the next state as initialisation, then after that is complete, select the next state as acquistion. Repeat this loop as many time as you need for each acquistion.
I hope this clarifys your question. If you have any problems please do not hesitate to contact me and thanks for using the NI forums.

How does FGEN demo program (SFP) identify input file formats?
The FGEN Soft Front Panel (SFP) application allows users to select an input file containing waveform data for demonstration. Files of various formats are listed in a popup prompt window. How does SFP identify the type of the data in the files? Does the file extension (.bin, .lvm) indicate what's inside?
If you installed NI-FGEN in the default directory, then C:\Users\Public\Documents\National Instruments\NI-FGEN\examples\Waveforms\Waveformdescription.txt should have descriptions of each of the example waveforms and what is inside the file.
The NI Signal Generators Help file (Start > All Programs > National Instruments > NI-FGEN > Documentation) has the Waveform File Specifications under Interactive Tools > FGEN Soft Front Panel > Waveform File Specifications.
The SFP does use the file extension to determine the file type. As a simple test, I renamed the fgMode-square.bin example file to fgMode-square.lvm. When I tried to load the renamed file, it gave me an error declaring that the file is not a valid LabVIEW Measurement File (lvm), thus proving the software checks the file extension to determine the contents.

Joel C

Calling report from a form with user input parameters
Hello,
I am new to Oracle reports. I have an application coded in 6i. I am currently running the application in Oracle Forms Builder 9i. There are also few reports which are called from the forms. Since the application was developed in 6i, the report was called using Run_Product. The forms pass a set of user parameters to the report using the parameter list pl_id. The syntax used was Run_Product(REPORTS, 'D:\Report\sales.rdf', SYNCHRONOUS, RUNTIME,FILESYSTEM, pl_id, NULL);
I learnt that the Run_product doesnt work in 9i and we need to use run_report_object. I have changed the code to use run_report_object and using web.show_document () i am able to run the report from the form. There are 2 parameters that need to be passed from forms to reports. The parameters are from_date and to_date which the user will be prompted to enter on running the form. In the report, the initial values for these parametes are defined. So, the report runs fine for the initial value always. But when i try to change the user inputs for the form_date and to_date, the report output doesnt seem to take the new values, instead the old report with the initial values(defined in the report) runs again.
Can someone give me the code to pass the user defined parameters to the report from the forms? I have defined a report object in the forms node as REPTEST and defined a parameter list pl_id and added form_date and to_date to pl_id and used the following coding:
vrepid := FIND_REPORT_OBJECT ('REPTEST');
vrep := RUN_REPORT_OBJECT (vrepid,pl_id);
But this doesnt work.
Also, Should the parameters defined in the forms and reports have the same name?Thanks for the quick response Denis.
I had referred to the document link before and tried using the RUN_REPORT_OBJECT_PROC procedure and ENCODE functions as given in the doc and added the following SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY in the RUN_REPORT_OBJECT_PROC :
SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(report_id,REPORT_OTHER,' FROM_DATE='||:BLK_INPUT.FROM_DATE||' TO_DATE='||:BLK_INPUT.TO_DATE||' paramform=no');
But this also dint work. Please help me understand what difference does setting paramform=no OR paramform=yes make?
In the report, i have defined the user parameters as FROM_DATE and TO_DATE respectively so that they match the form datablock BLK_INPUT items FROM_DATE and TO_DATE.
My WHEN_BUTTON_PRESSED trigger is as below:
DECLARE
report_id report_object;
vrep VARCHAR2 (100);

-- Call the generic PL/SQL procedure to run the Reports

Thanks in advance.

Please help. When exporting a 720p video using Quicktime Conversion in FCP it saves some extra temporary files to my computer. The temporary file it saves is called ICMMultiPassStorage. This file gets so large that eventually the program and exporting process crashes. I have been able to locate the file using GrandPerspective and close out of FCP to delete it. But when I try exporting the movie again it creates the ICMMultiPassStorage file again. I have made sure my scratch disks are set to my external hard drive so I know that isn't the issue. How do I fix this problem so these temporary files are not being stored on my internal hard drive instead of my external?Thanks!
Try exporting the timeline "using current settings" via Make QuickTime Movie, then submit that clip to Compressor for the transcode. This should be faster and less painful.

How to call URL to collect user input ?
Hi all,
I am writing a Swing applications and at some points, I need to call a URL (external web page) to collect user input. It invokes passing certain parameters to web page so that the web page can be displayed in some certain form. After the user input all data in web page, press "submit", my Swing application needs to get the input back. I suppose that calling URL is trivial but how can I get the input back ? Any input will be greatly appreicated.
Note: the web page will be displayed in one JFrame but it may not related to this problem.
