Taskflow context not maintained with ADF popups

JDev build: JDEVADF_11.1.1.4.0_GENERIC_101212.1926.5912
A coworker also reproduced this using JDEVADF_11.1.1.4.0_GENERIC_101227.1736.5923
This is a simple WebCenter custom app created using JDev. I'm seeing exceptions when canceling a popup that contains a taskflow (the DocViewer taskflow). The popup was launched from another taskflow called Content Presenter. Upon canceling the popup (i.e., clicking the 'x' in the upper right corner), I see this error message in a javascript alert:
"Target Unreachable, 'presenterNavigationBean' returned null
ADF_FACES-60097:For more information, please see the server's error log for an entry beginning with: ADF_FACES-60096:Server Exception during PPR, #1"
In the server console, I see these exceptions (abbreviated to keep this post a bit smaller, but I can provide the entire stack trace if necessary):
java.lang.IllegalStateException: The expression "#{bindings.rbxzy5vg6jr1.regionModel}" (that was specified for the RegionModel "value" attribute of the region component with id "oc_4478173184region1") evaluated to null.
This is typically due to an error in the configuration of the objects referenced by this expression.
If it helps, the expression "#{bindings.rbxzy5vg6jr1}" evaluates to "null".
If it helps, the expression "#{bindings}" evaluates to "portal_cpPageDef". Now using an empty RegionModel instead.

(basically the same thing as above repeats a few times) presenterNavigationBean is the bean for the Content Presenter taskflow which launched the popup.
The steps I'm taking to see this problem are:
1. Launch JDev and create a WebCenter app, accepting all defaults. This requires the WebCenter extension, i.e., oracle.webcenter.framework_bundle.zip
2. Create a content repository connection to an Oracle Content Repository
3. Create a jspx in Web Content/oracle/webcenter/portalapp/pages using the global page template (select that checkbox). I typically call it cp.jspx, thus the references to "portal_cpPageDef" in the exceptions above.
4. Open the jspx in source view, place the cursor after the pageTemplate tag, and add a "page customizable" component from the Oracle Composer group in the Component Palette. Save the page.
5. Open Web Content/oracle/webcenter/portalapp/pagehierarchy/pages.xml and drag your jspx to the root of the hierarchy. Save all pages.
6. Run the Web Content/index.html page.
7. Login using weblogic/weblogic1
8. Click on the page you created in the toolbar
9. Click "shift + ctrl + E" to put the page in edit mode.
10. click the "Add Content" button (it launches a popup)
11. In the popup, click on "Content Management"
12. Click on "Add" next to the Content Presenter taskflow and close the popup
13. Now select an HTML document from the content repository by using the Content Presenter wizard (click on the first wrench icon in the chrome). If you don't have one, you'll have to add it to the repository.
14. In the Content Presenter wizard, select the "Preview" page
15. click the "Open in Document Viewer" button. This launches the DocViewer taskflow in an ADF popup.
16. Click the cancel button in the upper right corner.
17. This is when the javascript alert will show the errors mentioned above. The server console in JDev will show the stack traces.
Please let me know if this is a configuration issue on my end or a bug within ADF. I'll monitor this thread closely today to provide any information that could be helpful asap. Thank you.

It's the bean that the Content Presenter taskflow uses. All I did was create a page using the global page template and added the Page Customizable component to it, then customized the page to have an instance of the Content Presenter taskflow. I can use Content Presenter normally until I attempt to edit an HTML doc (which launches the DocViewer taskflow in an ADF popup). At that point I start seeing binding errors, like the taskflow context is lost.

    Thanks alot

    Hi,
your code doesn't tell what the JavaScript is doing to launch the popup. From the stack trace it appears that there is an issue with PPR involved. Are you sure this happened out of sudden or are there some changes applied to the app ?

  • Browser back button not working with ADF Application integrated with SSO

I have integrated an adf application with Oracle SSO Authentication. Application is running fine.
Though, while navigating between pages, using browser back button , it is not redirecting the url properly
Should Redirect it to : http://<hostname>:<port>/<contex-root>/<servlet>/<id>
    Presently Redirecting it to :http://<hostname>:<port>/<contex-root>
As, directory browsing is not allowed, there is Error 403--Forbidden .
Can anybody tell what changes needs to be made to make browser back button work.

In some of the documentation I have read, they have mentioned that using the back button in a browser doesn't work too well with any JSF type of application (not just ADF and Jdeveloper apps).
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E15051_01/web.1111/b31974/web_form.htm#CFHHJGJH
Instead, they suggest using buttons on the form.

No i thought  so,, but system picked up the posting date as due date. this happend only for those vendors in whose vendor masters the recipient type was not maintained.
For two three vendors where Recipient type was maintained those TDS line items due date is correctly showing as 06 Nov 2009. this iam telling for the same TAX TYPE (ex. IE.).
now, these few  line items are only displayed in J1INCHLN. the input i have given is

  • Cancel button on ADF popup does not work with AutoSubmit Fields

    Hello,
I currently have a very simple form inside of and ADF popup. I the form contains one SelectManyListbox. Here's my issue.
Lets say my form contains option A, B, and C.
Okay I open the popup for the first time, and a select, A and B, and I click cancel. When I open the form again, I would expect no options to be selected. HOwever, that is not the case, the last options I selected, prior to hitting Cancel are still selected.
I was able to fix this issue by setting contentDelivery to "lazyUncached".. However, as soon as I set autoSubmit to "true", the behavior goes back to keeping the selections I made, even if I hit cancel.
    Question :
How can tell the popup to deselect the items that were selected in the SelectManyListbox during the canceled operation of the popup, when autoSubmit is enabled? IN other words, if A and B were selected, and I hit cancel, when I open the popup again, I should see zero items selected in the list.

  • ADF Popup issue with table row not selected

OK, imagine this scenario. There is a page displaying a table of employees, and when you click on the employee_id (which is shown as URL), which is one of the columns of the table, a popup displays, showing the details of that particular employee.
Now in the properties of the employee table, we unchecked the row selection property. Now how will I be able to achieve the same thing?
I dragged the setCurrentRowWithKeyValue operation on employee_id column, changed the bindings of the TEXT property, added a popup behaviour, but still the popup displays the first row which is fetched in the table.
Where am I missing, or is there any other way to achieve the same thing?
    JDev version: 11.1.2.2.0
Edited by: Sonal on Oct 11, 2012 3:11 AM

I did an exercise where I created one page which was displaying all the employees, and once you click on employee_id (which is shown as URL), a 2nd page opens displaying the details of the employees.
Now in the above exercise, ROW SELECTION was disabled, for which I had to use this setCurrentRowWithKeyValue operation and then set the NDValue with the binding of the employee ID. So whenever I used to click on the employee_id, the page was taking to me the form, which was displaying exactly the same employee details.
Now this thing should work with the popup thing too, right? So I disabled the ROW SELECTION

  • ADF from JDeveloper 10.1.2 not compatible with iAS 9.0.1

    Hi,
We developed an ADF Application with JDeveloper 10.1.2 and we use the ADF interMedia domains (e.g. oracle.ord.im.OrdDocDomain). The application runs fine in JDeveloper, but doesn't run on our iAS 9.0.4.1. We get the following exception:
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/sql/DatumWithConnection
    at java.lang.Class.forName0(Native Method)
    at java.lang.Class.forName(Class.java:219)
    at oracle.jbo.common.java2.JDK2ClassLoader.loadClassForName(JDK2ClassLoader.java:38)
    at oracle.jbo.common.JBOClass.forName(JBOClass.java:161)
    at oracle.jbo.common.JBOClass.findDataClass(JBOClass.java:203)
    at oracle.jbo.server.AttributeDefImpl.initFromXML(AttributeDefImpl.java:2061)
    at oracle.jbo.server.AttributeDefImpl.loadFromXML(AttributeDefImpl.java:2013)
    at oracle.jbo.server.EntityDefImpl.loadAttribute(EntityDefImpl.java:2815)
    at oracle.jbo.server.EntityDefImpl.loadAttributes(EntityDefImpl.java:2779)
    at oracle.jbo.server.EntityDefImpl.loadFromXML(EntityDefImpl.java:2362)
    at oracle.jbo.server.EntityDefImpl.loadFromXML(EntityDefImpl.java:2106)
    at oracle.jbo.server.MetaObjectManager.loadFromXML(MetaObjectManager.java:514)
    [...rest of stacktrace omitted ...]
The problem is that the JDBC version of the iAS 9.0.4.1 is missing the class DatumWithConnection that is indirectly referenced by the interMedia classes supplied with JDeveloper 10.1.2.
In detail, oracle.ord.im.OrdDoc uses oracle.sql.STRUCT. The inheritance hierarchy of STRUCT is different in the JDBC versions on iAS 9.0.4.1 (oracle.sql.Datum <- oracle.sql.STRUCT) and JDeveloper 10.1.2 (oracle.sql.Datum <- oracle.sql.DatumWithConnection <- oracle.sql.STRUCT). The class file of oracle.ord.im.OrdDoc (from 10.1.2. JDeveloper) was apparently compiled the new JDBC driver version since it contains a reference to oracle.sql.DatumWithConnection. And that class cannot be found if run on iAS 9.0.4.1 with its old JDBC version.
I think this is a very serious problem, since it means that ADF from JDeveloper 10.1.2 is not compatible with iAS 9.0.4.1, in contradiction to the support matrix (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/collateral/papers/10g/as_supportmatrix.html).
Upgrading the JDBC Driver on the iAS seems to be the only clean solution for this problem (we also tried using old versions of the ordim.jar etc. but that always leads to other problems). But simply exchanging the JDBC jar-files on the server breaks the Enterprise Manager on our iAS installation.
    I have two questions:
    1) Is there a recommended workaround for the compatibility issue described above?
    2) Is there a documented and supported way to upgrade the JDBC driver of iAS 9.0.4.1? I searched OTN and MetaLink and haven't found anything about this.
    Kind Regards,
    Kay
P.S. It is surprising that this problem is rarely mentioned in the OTN forums at all. The only relevant thread is on the JHeadstart Forum:
    JHeadstart Deployment Issue
    P.S.2
More info on what we tested:
We have thoroughly checked that the 10.1.2. ADF runtime was correctly deployed on our iAS 9.0.4.1. We installed a OC4J 9.0.4.0.0 standalone on the same linux machine as our iAS 9.0.4.1 and deployed our application on it, getting the same error (java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/sql/DatumWithConnection) as on the iAS. Replacing the JDBC drivers of the OC4J standalone with the version that came with JDeveloper 10.1.2 solved the problem.

I don't think that mixing classes from different jar file is a good idea. Nevertheless, we tested this approach already. Adding the DatumWithConnection.class from the 10.1.0.3.0 JDBC version to the jar file of the original JDBC version (of the iAS 9.0.4.1.0) caused a java.lang.VerifyError to appear.
The DatumWithConnection class is not simply added in the newer JDBC version. It is inserted into the inheritance hierarchy of oracle.sql.STRUCT and oracle.sql.Datum. Simply providing the new class next to the old JDBC driver will not work.
To give more information about what's wrong with updating the complete JDBC driver, I justed tested it again. To update the JDBC driver I stopped the server, changed the contents of jdbc/lib, started the server. I tried it with JDBC Version 9.2.0.5 as well as 10.1.0.3.0.
In both cases, our own application works, i.e. no more NoClassDefFoundError caused by oracle.sql.DatumWithConnection.
The Enterprise Manager shows strange behaviour, however. Some features work as usual but, for example, when I click on the "Applications" tab for our OC4J instance, we just get the following error shown in the browser:
An error was encountered while loading page. Failed to initialize configuration management user session.. See base exception for details.
    Root Cause: TDU
Resolution: See base exception for details.. TDU
In one of the server logs I found the following stacktrace:

  • Graphs with ADF Essentials 12.1.2.0 deployed on Glassfish 3.1.2 Open Source not displaying

    Hi,
I have three simple Bar Graphs which developed using JDeveloper 12c. When I deployed in Glassfish Server 3.1.2 open source edition with ADF essentials 12.1.2.0 they are not displayed. Other data bound pages are working fine. Now if I deploy them in the integrated weblogic server then they are correctly displayed.
As per the oracle documentation DVT components are included in ADF Essentials.
Can someone please help me if I am missing anything?
    Thanks,

    Hi ,
We have enabled context sensitive DFF in Bank Branch Page for HZ_PARTIES DFF , We have created Flex Map so that only bank branch context fields are only displayed in the bank branch page and  as we know party information DFF is shared by supplier and Customer Page so we dint want to see any Bank Branch fields or context information in those pages.
We have achieved the requirement but when open existing branches bank branch update is throwing below error message :
"The value in flexfield context reference web bean does not match with the value in the context of the Descriptive flexfield web bean BranchDescFlex. If this in not intended, please go back to correct the data or contact your Systems Administrator for assistance."
this error is thrown only when we open existing branches, if we save existing branch and open then it is not throwing any error message.
Please let us know reason behind this error message.
    Thanks,
    Mruduala

You are kidding?  It took me about 3 minutes to scroll down on my tab to get to the triplex button!
Habe you read the error message?

hello, normally such issues are caused by a firewall/security software which doesn't recognize & therefore blocks new firefox versions. please remove all program rules for firefox from your firewall and let it detect the new version of the browser again.

  • ADF bindings are not working with inheritance heirarchy.

ADF bindings are not working with inheritance heirarchy. I am using embedded OC4J in JDeveloper 10.1.3.2.
For the data model I have the following objects\attributes.
    1) User (abstract EJB 3.0 POJO)
    - Id
    - userId
    - userName
    2) Employee -> extends User (EJB 3.0 POJO)
    - enabled
    - password
    3) Manager -> extends Employee (EJB 3.0 POJO)
    - numOfEmployees
    4) UserSessionBean (Stateless Session Bean)
    - public User findUserByUserId(String userId)
    - public List<User> queryUserFindAll()
    - Object mergeEntity(Object entity)
I created 2 JSF pages using ADF.
    1) ListUsers.jspx - Lists all the users of type Employee and Manager in a table. You can select an user and chose to modify the user details using a modify button.
    2) ModifyUser.jspx - Modify the selected user and persist the modified user details.
I implemented ListUsers.jspx by dragging and dropping queryUserFindAll() method from the ADF datacontrol on to the JSF page and selected ADF Table format with selection enabled.
Similarly for the ModifyUser.jspx page I dragged and dropped the User object returned by findUserByUserId(String userId) and selected ADF Form format. I selected OutputText field types for userId and userName.
I then created a navigation case from ListUsers.jspx to ModifyUser.jspx and pass the selected user.
Now when I try to run the web application, ListUsers.jspx correctly displays all the users. Then I select a user of type Employee and click on the modify button. This brings up the ModifyUser.jspx page. However, the UserId text field displays the value for "Id" field rather than "userId".
    Question that I have is:
    - Why is ADF framework not able to retrieve the appropriate user attribute value for a Employee based on the binding information in case of inheritance ?
    Thanks,
    Piyush

    Hi,
tried with JDeveloper 10.1.3.3 and this works for me. Try JDeveloper 10.1.3.3 - if it doesn't work, have a closer look at your sessionFacade
