How to call a shell script from a java code
Hello can any one suggest me how to call a shell script from a java program that takes three parameters.
i have a shell script (msp_restore_gui) when i run this script in the command line in a RHEL5 ,SUSE10 and Debian machine it works fine .I even tested to call it from a java program and it also worked fine but when i used the same in a J2ee application where the user when clicks the restore button in a webserver this inturn sends the request to a java file named BackupManager.java where i call the shell script.But here it fails.Waiting for your suggestions.If you want i can put the code also hereyes the script is in /usr/local/mss/tools/backup and the script (msp_restore_gui) is as follows

[Best practice] How to call a service from custom Java code
Hi all,
I'm wondering what the best method is to call a standard service from custom Java code?
In a specific situation iDoc script is extended with custom functions with a custom component. There's Java code mapping to these functions that is executing these functions. The iDoc script functions are called from a workflow entry script.
In the Java code that runs when the custom iDoc functions are called, I want to call a standard Content Server service. I don't think that the m_service variable is available, so filling the binder and using m_service.executeService() probably isn't possible.
Also, if it were possible (that is, if I want to call a standard service from my own custom service Java code), what would then be the best method to do so?
Regards, StijnHi Sapan,
Let me explain a bit further.
I'm an UCM consultant trying to solve a problem that occured at a client when they installed the CS10gR35CoreUpdateBundle.
Content items are entered into a Workflow when they are checked in. Part of one of the entry scripts of the a workflow step is that related content to the content item in the workflow is (re)submitted for conversion.
To achive this, a custom component provides an iDoc script extension. This iDoc function (resubmitForConversion) is implemented in Java (the class extends ScriptExtensionsAdaptor).
In this Java method, first the related content items are fetched. Then the service RESUBMIT_FOR_CONVERSION should be called for all dID's in of the related content.
Thus, at a certain point in the custom Java code, a native Content Server service must be called. Of course the class of this Java code does not extend the Service class, so the m_service object isn't available.
The thing is: before installed the 10gR35CoreUpdateBundle everything worked OK. This code was used to execute the service:
Workspace workspace = CommonUtils.getSystemWorkspace();
String cmd = binder.getLocal("IdcService");
if (cmd == null) throw new DataException("!csIdcServiceMissing");
ServiceData serviceData = ServiceManager.getFullService(cmd);
if (serviceData == null) throw new DataException(LocaleUtils.encodeMessage("!csNoServiceDefined", null, cmd));
Service service = ServiceManager.createService(serviceData.m_classID, workspace, null, binder, serviceData);
UserData fullUserData = CommonUtils.getFullUserData(userName, service);
service.setUserData(fullUserData);
binder.m_environment.put("REMOTE_USER", userName);
ServiceException error = null;
try {
service.setSendFlags(true, true);
service.initDelegatedObjects();
service.globalSecurityCheck();
service.preActions();
service.doActions();
service.postActions();
service.updateSubjectInformation(true);
service.updateTopicInformation(binder);
} catch (ServiceException e) {
error = e;
} finally {
service.cleanUp(true);
if (!CommonUtils.isWorkspaceConnectionInTransaction(workspace)) {
workspace.releaseConnection();
}the first problem was that the CS began to complain that a transaction was started within another transaction. So I suspect that the 10gR35 update wrapped a transaction around a workflow script entry.
With some decompiling I figured out how a service is called from iDoc with the <$executeService()$> command. So I replaced the code above with:
String cmd = binder.getLocal("IdcService");
ServiceData serviceData = ServiceManager.getFullService(cmd);
if (serviceData == null) throw new DataException(LocaleUtils.encodeMessage("!csNoServiceDefined", null, cmd));
Workspace workspace = CommonUtils.getSystemWorkspace();
Service service = ServiceManager.createService(serviceData.m_classID, workspace, null, binder, serviceData);
UserData fullUserData = CommonUtils.getFullUserData(userName, service);
service.setUserData(fullUserData);
binder.m_environment.put("REMOTE_USER", userName);
service.initDelegatedObjects();
service.executeSafeServiceInNewContext(cmd, true);This solved the transaction problem but introduces another problem: !csUnableToResubmitItem,(null)!csIllegalScriptAccess,RESUBMIT_FOR_CONVERSION
The Service Reference Guide says that the access level for RESUBMIT_FOR_CONVERION is 33 (Read, Scriptable). However, in shared/config/resources/std_services.htm the access level is specified as 2 (write).
Thus, my question still is:
What is the best method to call a standard Content Server service from any Java code (so without extending the Service class, or having the m_service object available)? -

Any help is greatly appreciated,
Jacob NikomThank you for your suggestion.
I tried it, but got the same result. I think the difference in the syntax is due to the Oracle versus SQL92 standard
conformance. Your statament is the Oracle version and mine is the SQL92. I think both statements are acceptable
by the Oracle.

Execute PL/SQL block with named binds from within java code?
Hi guys,
Is there any good way to execute my PL/SQL code, for example
BEGIN :x := :x+1; END;
from my Java code? I need nothing complicated, just static code block with named binds.
I have tried the Oracle exetnded JDBC (setXXXbyName methods):
public static void main(String[] args){ try { Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleConnection"); Connection conn=DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:xe","user","password"); String SQL="begin :x:=:x+1; end;"; OracleCallableStatement stmt; stmt=(OracleCallableStatement)conn.prepareCall(SQL); stmt.setIntAtName("x", 5); stmt.registerOutParameter("x", Types.INTEGER); stmt.execute(); System.out.println(stmt.getInt("x")); } catch (Exception x) { x.printStackTrace(); } }
And get the java.sql.SQLException: operation not allowed: Ordinal binding and Named binding cannot be combined!
Then i've tried SQLJ appoach:
public static void main(String[] args){ try { Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleConnection"); Connection conn=DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:xe","user","password"); Oracle.connect(conn); System.out.println("Connected!"); int x=3; #sql { BEGIN :x := :x+1; END; }; System.out.println("x=" + x); } catch (Exception x) { x.printStackTrace(); } }
And x=3 had retuned... Although 4 expected.
Then, I've set parameter sqlj.bind-by-identifier=true
And result is another exception! java.sql.SQLException: Missing IN or OUT parameter at index:: 2
Can you please mark my mistakes/point to correct solution?
Thanks in advance,
AlexeyFound another solution, this time working at least...
public void testPLSQL() {
String dynamicSQL=
"declare\n" +
" v_CursorID INTEGER;\n" +
" v_BlockStr VARCHAR2(500);\n" +
" v_Dummy INTEGER;\n" +

" DBMS_SQL.CLOSE_CURSOR(v_CursorID);\n" +
" ?:=v_x;"+
" COMMIT;\n" +
"EXCEPTION\n" +
" WHEN OTHERS THEN\n" +
" DBMS_SQL.CLOSE_CURSOR(v_CursorID);\n" +
" RAISE;\n" +
"END DynamicPLSQL;";
try {
Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleConnection");
Connection conn=DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:xe","user", "password");
System.out.println("Profit");
String SQL="begin :x:=:x+1; end;";
OracleCallableStatement stmt;
stmt=(OracleCallableStatement)conn.prepareCall(dynamicSQL);
stmt.setString(1, SQL);
int x=3;
stmt.setInt(2, x);
stmt.registerOutParameter(3, Types.INTEGER);
stmt.execute();
x=stmt.getInt(3);
System.out.println(x);
assertEquals(4, x);
} catch (Exception ex) {
ex.printStackTrace();
assertTrue(false);
}Now the only thing I need is to code some kind of preprocessor of SQL block, to prepare the dynamicSQL lair for SQL critter...
Please please please show me something less complicated! :8} -
Calling LV created DLL from LV
Howdy-
I'm trying to call a LV DLL from within LV (seperate project). Once the DLL has been comppiled I'm using the Import Shared Library to create the node.
However when I try this I get an error message with the import that appears to have trouble with LVBoolean and int32_t.
I've created a simple DLL (adds a DBL to an INT 32 and creates a Bool when the sum is > 0).
Compiling this DLL and trying to import it has the same issue.
Any clues?

This does mean LabVIEW will create the datatypes with U8 instead of booleans, which you can replace yourself with a boolean after importing.
Except that the Call Library Node doesn't allow for configuration of an explicit boolean type (for obvious reasons as there is no standardized boolean datatype in C before C11 and even then the standard says nothing about if it should be a byte or the prefered integer size for the current platform or anything else). LabVIEW then uses Adapt to Type instead, which forces the skalar parameter to be always passed by pointer!
Most simple solution is to still use an explicit integer that is properly sized and convert between the LV Boolean and the integer on the diagram.

How can I using functions implicit in dll file in java code ?
How can I using functions implicit in dll file in java code ?
I'm developing a program that interfacing with fingerprint hardware.
I have the finger print already, and I have to the SDK that have all functions for managing this fingerprint.
These SDK functions are represented in dll files.
I want to know how can I use these functions in java code .
I looked on this link of sun forums :
http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=305171&messageID=1215613
but I don't Understand the meaning of native code.
Thanks for help.please please please please please please please please help me:
After reading a lot of articles, tutorials, and overviews about JNI (Java Native Interface)
I found that these steps
1. Develop the Java code
2. Compile the Java code to a class file
3. Generate the header file
4. Implement the native method
5. Create the shared library or DLL
6. Run the Java program
Is the common steps in JNI development
The most powerful link was
http://java.sun.com/docs/books/jni/html/start.html
and
http://www.netbeans.org/kb/55/beginning-jni-part2.html
and the pdf oh this link
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/edu/j-dw-javajni-i.html requiring IBM registration to download it.
But I have already the DLL, and want to the stright forward way to use its functions by java code only.
I don not to write any C++ code .
Is this possible???????????????????????????????
The name of these dll is zkemsdk.dll
It developed by ZKSOFTWARE company for managing a finger print NP1500Aof
