Calling a web service reference from PL/SQL

Hello,
could anyone give me a hint how to call a web service that is defined as web service reference from a PL/SQL page process (PL/SQL anonymous block).
Many thanks in advance
Lukasz

>
The problem is that I have a PL/SQL page process that processes the result that was returned by a web service (triggered by web-service page process (-; ) and <b>need to call it again transparently for the user</b>. If there is a way to execute a page process from this PL/SQL block the question would be answered as well.

Same parameters and repeating at pre-defined time intervals? If yes, use Javascript as described here.

  • Calling web service request from PL/SQL

I am trying to create Apex page with stock quote ticker - like what Yahoo has on their page. I have the right web service and have put together a page which works when you submit (created by the wizard). Instead of clicking submit to refresh the page I want to use Ajax to do this but for this purpose I need to know how to call web service from PL/SQL so I can do this in my on demand process. Any ideas?

    George,
The documented way to call a web service using PL/SQL is to use UTL_DBWS package.
Here are a couple of links that may be useful:
    http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/10g/utl_dbws10g.php
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/tech/java/jsp/callout_users_guide.htm
There is also an APEX package wwv_flow_web_services, but I couldn't find any documentation on it.

  • Trouble shooting apex application calling web-service reference

    Hi,
I am developing an APEX application which calls a web-service reference. i am looking for ideas as to how to log necessary information for trouble shooting.
i already thought about this -
    1. the response from the web-service is displayed to the user (via a collection object).
but the issue is i want the administrator (who logs in at a later time) to see that an error occurred or what was the response from the web-service.
Is there any in-built way of accessing this information (is it first of all stored somewhere automatically ?). the one possible solution i see is to create a table and log the info into this table along with user and session id.
any ideas / pointers will greatly help me.
    Regards,
    Ramakrishnan

It looks like you won't be able to test web service calls on apex.oracle.com. see this WebService on apex.oracle.com

  • Calling a Web Service from OPM ODS

    Greetings,
Is it possible to call a web service directly from OPM (version 10.4) using Determinations Server or do we need BPM or BPEL to be involved. We are trying to transition to Weblogic 11g Fusion SOA environment using OPA for rules.
    Thanks

    Hi Davin,
I have managed to deployed the determinations-server.war with the rulebase to WLS. I am also able to create a web service proxy to send request to ODS and get the response returned. However, my doubt now is I do not know how to consume it in BPM. In my BPM process flow, I tried creating a web service call to ODS but it did not work, as in the flow runs and completed with success but there were no response returned from ODS due its complex type which couldn't be mapped directly to the data object type created in BPM.
I am wondering if there is any samples or tutorials available which will guide me in understanding this topic better. Any help is much appreciated.
    Many thanks in advance!

  • Web Service (SOAP) From Oracle Forms

From the exaples of calling web services (soap) from pl/sql, it seems very poor and troublesome. I've seen a few articles with good points about why not to do this from pl/sql. So, I was hoping someone in the forums could share their opinions and approaches to using web services from forms based applications. I would ideally like to hear reasons people chose not to use pl/sql.

There are some examples of calling web services from forms on the Forms OTN page - works fine although I would encourage the use of the new JVM pooling features as this will aid scalability and performance.

  • Web service reference problem

Hi, I am trying to create a web service reference from Windows Dynamic CRM web services. CRM uses windows authentication. I can open WSDL file with IE and firefox. But the same username and password don't work with APEX.

I was able to resolve the problem -- in the latest version of the RESTful web service that I created, I had left out the creation of the Header Parameter bind variable. Once I did that everything works fine!! I was able to test in the application and got the record of an individual student.

I am using Apex 3.0 and trying to create a new web service reference from the Shared Components page.
Clicking the 'Web Service Refernces' link however takes me back to the login screen ! The Url shown in the browser is as below

Any idea why this may be happening ?

    Totally Weird !
I cleaned out the contents of the FLOW_PAGE_CACHE table and all is fine now !

I am getting an error below when creating a web service reference from apex 4.2. Any idea on how to resolve it.
•The WSDL document could not be understood by the rendering engine. Click Create Web Service Reference Manually to continue creating a reference for this service

I have just read that " APEX does not support multiple binding web services currently" at http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/category/apex/
..still reading it. though the post is dated back in 2008, I wonder why this functionality wasn't added to Apex.

  • Calling SharePoint Web Services from PL/SQL

We are trying to call SharePoint Web Services with UTL_DBWS or UTL_HTTP. We are able to call some test web services, but when it comes to using SharePoint services, we keep getting 401 errors..even when we use set_authorization.
Has anyone been able to use UTL_DBWS or UTL_HTTP to call SharePoint web services? If so, can you point us in the right direction?

    AB,
I didn't realize you cannot attach documents to your post. You will have to provide me with an email address that I can send the documents to. They are a little rough (ie not commented etc) but they do illustrate the point. The basic idea is to build up the payload of the soap envelope using pl/sql. Meaning as I loop through the cursor I use each record in the cursor to build an xml string. This string of xml becomes the payload of the soap message. This could also be done using xml functionality provided by the db meaning xmlelement, xmlforest etc. The issue I ran into was the size of the message. That is why I elected to build the xml message by string concatenation as I moved through the cursor.
