Calling an external program (*.exe file) on the client

Hi,
I use 9iDS and I'd like to call an external program (*.exe file) on the client, but this exe file is located on the server not on the client.
So it should be something like a mixture between host and client_host(webutil) command. Is it possible to use client_host where a virtual path is passed to?

Are you saying you want to run on the exe on the client but its located on the server???
In that case you would have to do a webutil file transfer to move it to the client before executing. Or, if you are calling a DLL, webutil will download it automatically from the server to the client (see the C API example on the webutil page).

I'm running Labiew 6i for Linux. I'm using a system exec.vi to call an external program to do image manipulation (since there is no IMAQ for linux). How can I embed the user interface of the external program into the front panel of Labview?

As far as I know, the only way to embed other GUIs in LabView is an ActiveX in a container.
As long as you are using Linux, try to place (moving them on the desktop ) the two windows linked (like those 3 of WinAmp).

"program access and defaults" is not the place to remove programs in Windows. You need to go to the control panel and click on Add and Remove programs. For instructions on how to uninstall Firefox, see [[Uninstalling Firefox]]

Before calling an external program, check if the program is allready open

I need to call an external program to print some labels, so i will use function WS_EXECUTE or the new one DSVAS_DOC_WS_EXECUTE_50 to call my program, but the problem that i have is:
when I call this function, the program open a small window, and if i have to call it again, it will open another window, and so on... obviously this is not a good solution.
Is there any one how knows how can i close the program, of perhaps it is enough if there is some way to know if the program is already open.

Runtime.getRuntime().exec("exactly what you would type at the command line");

Calling an external program!

Salut all, Im using unfortunately Oracle Forms 6i, and I need to call an external program that I have to develop in Java, compiled into .jar. I just wanna use something like java -jar myJar.jar <my params...> but I don´t know how to call external programs from Oracle Forms, in special from 6i.
I have searched this thread passed (Re: Calling JAVA from PL/SQL but didn´t help me so much.

In version 9 and 10 we have a general way of calling out to java thru the Java Importer functionality.
If you cannot upgrade to these later versions and you don't need to get data back from the jar file execution you can always use the Host command to call it directly the way you have outlined.

for windows you should have an exe and a 7z file. put both in the same directory and double click the exe.

Please understand that when you download updates from the Microsoft Update Catalog Web site, an exe file contains the “mpsyschk” in the file name will be downloaded at the same time you saving
the msu package. The MpSysChk.exe file is a package you could use to decide if the system will meet the application requirements. When you start to install the update, the MpSysChk is executed and if its return value is 0, the installation process will continue.
Therefore, the MpSysChk.exe file downloaded with the update is useful to ensure that you could install the update successfully. We don't need run it individually.

Open SharePoint 2013 Search Results (EML files) In The Client Application

Hi, I have a problem about using sharepoint 2013 search for EML files:
When i click on the search result link *.eml, the browser open for the email file, i can only view the content of the EML file, but actually i want to see the full info of it like using an email client application outlook express including From:,To:,Date:,Subject:,ect.
How can i click on the search result link to open an email client application to view the result?

I want to read a file on the client side, then the server show the contents of that file.

Signed applet sounds cool - I guess Microsoft's ActiveX technology would be the mirror of this.
Write you file access code as you normally would and then just drop it in a applet and JAR it up.
Use keytool to sign it - users will be requested to accept/review your certificate in order to grant file-access permissions.

How to create .exe file of the java program you create?

This must be the qustions asked several time on the forums.So here it is again.
This sounds absurd to some developers here cause you'll say just create jar file and distributre to usr but sometimes there is not possiblity of having runtime environment in windows computers.So if we can bundle the enviroment and the setup together then packing into exe and then distribute like most of commercial java application sounds better.But the problem is how to do that?
Ok creating exe will increase the size but that doesn't matter,if there is any freeware tool to accomplish just that?

Externally opening a file with the program its associated with

Basically I'm looking to simulate what would happen if you double clicked on something in a windows explorer window. I want to have the operating system open a file with the application that as associated with it.
how do I do it?

Have you considered the portability issue?
Win - Associate by editable user preferences
Mac - Associate to creation program
Unix/Dos - Explicitly associate program at command
Rather than just using exec, you could look into something encapsulated to set which program to use so you could use on other system.
