Calling CAF services in JSP

Hi,
We need to use CAF service as the business object in JSP application.
Please let us know weather it is possible or not?. If it is possible could you please provide some information(Sample example) to achieve this?

Created a CAF service with name caf_sep and Separation is the entity service name.
Deployed the CAF service.
Add the resource reference of the above CAF service in web-j2ee-engine.xml for JNDI as follows
<server-component-ref>
          <description>
          </description>
          <name>Separation</name>
          <type>interface</type>
          <jndi-name>sap.com/caf_sep/Separation</jndi-name>
     </server-component-ref>
I tried to invoke a CAF Service(EJB bean) in JSP by looking in JNDI tree for the service.
The JNDI name that I used to access the service is java:comp/sap.com/caf_sep/Separation.
The lookup is throwing "Object Not bound" error, with the above JNDI name.
Can you please let me know how should I proceed further in accessing the CAF service in JSP.

Of course I can use the Web Service model. But can I call caf directly?
I read something about caf web dynpro model, but I cannot find it in nwds 7.1. On some older tutorial it was in context menu of caf project, but it seems to be removed.

Hi ,
The standard way is to use the web service model.
You have to expose the the services as web service and then you can use the wsdl url in the Adaptive web service model option.
The above option will be available when you click the Model in the webdynpro application and the click create new model.

Calling web service from JSP

Can anyone help??
I'm trying to call a webservice from within a JSP and i havent a clue how its done,
i have my IF and Impl and Client Coded and my stubs generated and service deployed and running, but i cannot figure out how to call the service from my JSP web-app.

Its easy to call a WS from jsp what you can do is this. Think in manner that u will be keeping the client classes on a particular container, then in same container you can refrence the classes and can invoke service through a jsp..this works in my case.. it depends what kind of client do u want to create may be static or proxy or DII

VO object error while calling Web Service.

Hi,
I created one page with 5 text field and one choice list with three buttons.
Functionality is :
1. As page loads I am calling Web Service to set the values in fields.
2. When user enters new values or changed the old values and click on "Save" button, again web service is called to store that values.
Problem is when changing message choice value. For message choice I created one VO for lookup_code and meaning.
When I click on "Save" Button it showing me error
Attribute set for LookupCode in view object EncryptionModeVO1 failed

Calling web service.

Hello,
I have designed a form in Livecycle designer in which I am calling web service of coldfusion using javascript, passing a xml file as parameter, so here is the code but not working. But I want to ask that is this the currect way of calling web service-
var cURL = "http://ad/web_service.cfc?wsdl";
SOAP.wireDump = false;
var service = SOAP.connect(cURL);
var result = service.addXml( sample.xml );
app.alert(result );
Is this the currect way to call a service by passing xml file as parameter?

Could you please be more specific about 'it stops responding'?
Are you sure that your stub is sending the request to the server? Do you have any stack trace? It may be a simple connection issue.
It is hard to answer without any more information. The behavior should be the same using your JSP or your swing application. Have you try to debug the application using Jdeveloper to see in which step the call fails ?
Also if you are running the JSP from JDevelpoper be sure you have the correct proxy settings.

Call web service using code.

we want to call a web service from ADF JSP form.
We used web service data control. But deployment failed.
we applied Patch 5878326 to JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.0 and OAS.
But problem is not solved.
So we need a new way to call web services.
is there any other way to call web services from Jdev.
any code sample will be appreciated.

In JDeveloper, locate the .deploy file in the Resources folder of your web application project.
Double-click the file to open the WAR Deployment Profile Properties dialog.
Expand File Groups - WEB-INF/classes - Contributors.
In the Contributors panel, click Add and use the Browse dialog to locate the .adf folder in the root for your application (for example, /jdev/mywork//.adf path.)
Select the .adf folder and add it as a contributor to the deployment profile.
Note that the .adf folder does not become part of the deployable archive. This merely ensures that the contents of the META-INF get placed in an appropriate location in the archive that will permit the web container to find it when the application loads.
The failure to get the connection to Webservice is beacuse the "connections.xml" is not available in the deployed archive.
This has been release note'd as in

How can I call web services from Oracle BI?
My web service has a method (GetEventList) which take some parameters and returns a list.
Can I call this web service method from a dashboard and then show it in there?

it`s a pity, that OBIEE does not offer a solution to directly send requests to external webservices and show their results within an answer. Before i tried OBI 11g, i hoped that there would be some improvements regarding that functionality in contrast to OBI 10g.
Workarounds:
1.) In Oracle BI Publisher you can directly call a webservice and get back its results within a report. You could then put that report onto a dashboard. (I do not know whether this is already possible in Oracle BI Publisher 10g
2.) OBI 11g Action Framework. You could put a link onto your dashboard, which calls a webservice. After the webservice sent a response, an information dialog is shown, which can be used to present some general info regarding the webservices' return values.
3.) Create an ASP.NET/JSP-File which calls your Webservice and presents its results in HTML. You could then embed this ASP/JSP-File via an IFrame into your dashboard.
4.) PL/SQL-Wrapper as mentioned before
Conclusion: Oracle should improve this functionality by allowing people to directly call Webservices from Answers.

CAF service Core migration

Hallo Experts:
I want to migrate my application Service, entity service (CAF service core) from 7.1 SP10 to 7.1 Enhancement.
I copy the following folders
myproj/dictionary
myproj/ear
myproj/ejbmodel
myproj/metadata
myproj/permissions
into the new workspace and synchron the dc every project used.
Afterwards I try to compile all the projects but I got the error as following:
Problems with dependent DCs of myproj/meta[used component sap.com/tc/bi/bp/mmrbuild in compartment 'SAP_Build' is not synced used]
Problems with dependent DCs of myprojmetadata [used component sap.com/tc/bi/bp/mmrbuild in compartment 'SAP_BUILDT' is not synced used. (used by : ../myproj/metadata (MyComponents))]
Cannot create local DCProxy for DC that is neither synched nor local-only :SAP_BUILDT:sap.com/tc/bi/bp/mmrbuild
Any ideas to fix this problem?
Are there any documents about migration CAF services (application Service, entity Service, bzw. external Services)?
I do the migration because I have the problem with Web service call to external. com.sap.engine.services.webservices.jaxrpc.exceptions.XmlUnmarshalException: XML Deserialization Error. Empty node passed to deserializer [com.sap.engine.services.webservices.jaxrpc.encoding.primitive.DateTimeSD] which is not acceptable.
This error occurs after our server is from 7.1 into 7.1 Enhancement upgraded. Thus I think I do the migration of CAF service up to the 7.1 Enhancement to resolve this problem.

mapping CAF entity attributes to External service attributes is limited. You cannot defiend nested structures on the CAF entity side. You cannot map collection structures between CAF entity and external service.
The solution at least in nw04s is to create an application service on top of the entity and do the mapping via java coding.
CAF is useful if you need local data persistency. If you just need a service layer abstraction (wrapper layer) to sub-systems, without additional data or logic, it can be a little cumbersome to add CAF between the UI or Process Layers and the Service Layer. But at the end it depends on your solution architecture. It'll make sense if your UI or Process Layer is very different (technologywise) from your Service Layer.

Calling web service request from PL/SQL

I am trying to create Apex page with stock quote ticker - like what Yahoo has on their page. I have the right web service and have put together a page which works when you submit (created by the wizard). Instead of clicking submit to refresh the page I want to use Ajax to do this but for this purpose I need to know how to call web service from PL/SQL so I can do this in my on demand process. Any ideas?

The documented way to call a web service using PL/SQL is to use UTL_DBWS package.

Common CAF Services?

Hi as of CAF's nature, reusability must be an essential characteristic of CAF Service. Just imagine a business expert wants to find an action in GP to validate a product catalog sent in the format of an european standard, say BME, such task just involves a callable object which wraps a CAF service. For us developers, it will be cheerful to find out such service already exists, what we have to do is just wrapping it in a callable object and release an action which calls this callable object. The business expert from our customer will get the action delivered from SAP.
So the question is: Is there such central place I can look for common CAF services? Like UDDI for WebServices?

The good part of the story is that the need for developer to write services (whether they're enterprise class services or utility or core or coumpound or wrapper) is more true than ever until SAP and any other business aplication vendors will provide their respective Service Repository fully garnished with substantial and comprenhensive list of services. In SAP case, it should come with the next version of Netweaver, the Business Process Platform with the Enterprise Service Repository

Consume a CAF Service from the Service Regestry

Hello everybody,
i'm quite new to the SAP World and need some help considering the following:
Szenario: I want to build a simple caf Service deploy it in the Service Repository and consume it with a Web Dynpro Component. (CE 7.1)
My Caf Service is already deployed and available in the Service Reg. I can also test it with the "Web Services Navigator" - it is working fine.
Problem: I can not consume the service in my Web Dynpro nor with any other Web Service Client.
I can remeber something that i have to define "Destinations". But i have no glue how to. Can anybody help me? Please with a detailed description for CE 7.1.

Call Bpel process from JSP

hi I am completely new to BPEL and supposed to call BPEL process frm JSP page....i went through a couple of tutorials and learnt about the Technology. But still couldnt find the way. Can any one help or send some link where i can download few sample application or Tell me the way to do this????

The payload of the XML is described in the WSDL of the webservice. In general this is described in a XML schema (xsd). When you user selects a web service, you could read the WSDL of the webserice an determine the payload of this service, or you program this in you java code for each service.

Calling web service from oracle forms 10g

Calling the web service using JDeveloper works fine but when I complie in Oracle Forms it returns wrong number of types of arguments in call SENDHELLO.
The code from oracle form to call web service is as below:

My primary skill is PL/SQL but the only information I found on Oracle's site to call a web service from a 10g Form was creating a jar file and importing the java class. Since I don't want to ask our corporate IT to make changes on the UNIX box for the jar files I went a different route.
I use UTL_HTTP.BEGIN_REQUEST to call a URL then load I load the data to a table as a CLOB since we have more than 4000 characters. Now I need to parse the XML and load it into a form. I have never done this so if there is a helpful site please let me know. I have looked at several sites but none do what I want.
