Calling command prompt from inside a servelt?
Hello all, I have an issue with calling the command prompt cmd.exe from inside a servlet to perform a .rtf to .pdf conversion for me. I believe the problem might be more Windows permissions oriented but I will see what you think? (I am at a loss on this one) I am using the standard call of -
Process proc = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd.exe /c C:\\BatchPDF.exe "+rtfFile.getAbsolutePath()+" "+pdfFile.getAbsolutePath());
- Just calling a .rtf file and converting it to .pdf no biggie. But! oh there is always a but!
If I start tomcat locally using the startup.bat in the tomcat /bin dir, I have no problems with my servlet launching cmd.exe and converting the files.
However,
If I start tomcat as a system service from the services control pannel, My servlet just hangs and will not launch cmd.exe? Tomcat is set to start as the servers Admin account when started as a service, should this not let it open the command prompt? Also, cmd.exe has full permissions to everyone! Is it possible that it might be a Catalina Policey that is preventing this? Again, I am lost and hope someone might have had this problem and fixed it before!

It might be because of when starting as a service it
has no "console" (just a guess). But anyway, you don't
need the "cmd.exe /c" part - just run the .exe(meaning, the *PDF.exe)

Unable to call a procedure from inside a another procedure

I am trying to call a procedure from inside an another procedure.Both the procedures are present within the same package.I am trying to call the second procedure just before the end of the first procedure.Both the procedures are compiling fine but the tables are not getting populated inside the second procedure.Also the DBMS_OUTPUT statements present in second procedures are not getting displayed.(I feel the second procedured is not getting called).

I am having mac book air 2012model i had installed mavericks and use it, i long press command and power button at a same time and i saw the command prompt, from that i had formated the total hard disk. how to i want to install the OS again ?

It isn't the retail version, because that's 10.6.3.
Assuming it's the correct disc (i.e. the one that shipped with your Mac), you need to boot from it again.
OK the language page.
From the installer screen, ignore the continue button, go to the menu bar and choose Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
In DU, select your internal drive in the sidebar (the top item with the makers name and serial no.).
Run Repair Disk. If that comes up as disk OK, click the partition tab. Select the partiton from the drop-down above the graphic; 1 partiton is all you need.
Go to the options button and ensure that the partition scheme is GUID and the file system to Mac OS Extended (Journalled). Name the partiton (usually Macintosh HD), click Apply.
When the Macintosh HD volume appears below the drive name, quit DU and see if you can then install.
If the screen after the language screen doesn't show the menu bar, it may be necessary to use another Mac to do the job with the MB in Firewire Target Disc Mode. If it won't boot in TDM, or the MB doesn't have FireWire then it's getting very difficult. -

From inside my application that run on an Automation PC, under Windows O.S, I want to call Adobe Reader using a shell command to open up an PDF Document containing some informations.
Shell command like these

Operator is using a touchscreen.
I want to prevent user to access any option that can give him acces to filesystem (Open/save/save as).
I want also to prevent any change/add information to PDF document

Calling a variable from inside a movieclip AS3 in Flash CS4
I am trying to trace a variable string from inside a movieclip which is inside another movieclip on the main timeline using:
trace(VariableString);
and also
trace(stage.VariableString);
Neither work
The variable is an input textfield and traces fine when it is on the main timeline but will not work from inside the movieclip. I am using Actionscript 3 in Flash CS4.
I appreciate this has probably been discussed previously on this forum but I cannot find a difinitve answer that seems to work.

On Keyfrme1 I have a MovieClip1 containing a text input component. I have created a variable on keyframe 1 using:

When clicking on a seperate button this happens:
VariableString1 = MovieClip1.text;
I can trace this correctly on the main timeline using:
trace(VariableString1);
However, if I try to trace this from another keyframe inside a movieclip2 which is inside another movieclip3 using:
trace(MovieClip1(root).VariableString1);
I just get the error 1180 call to a possibly undefined method MovieClip1
Sorry if this is not very clear but I am getting very confused with this.

Call stored proc from inside sp
I am trying to call a stored proc from inside a stored proc and the stored proc needs to return a ref_cursor. I am trying to loop over the returned ref_cursor, but my problem is that when I compile the sp it says the ref_cursor is not a procedure or is undefined. I have a LabView application that uses javascript to call into some database stored procedures. I was wondering if there is a way of calling a .Net dll from inside of the Javascript without having to register the dll as a COM server. Are there any examples out there that I can take a look at?
That certainly seems like a roundabout way of doing things. Why do you need to use Javascript? Is this related to this question? If found this and this via Google.

When was the command prompt opened?
It won't close if it was opened before you started your application, and it won't close if you are executing your application from a bat/cmd-file that doesn't terminate.

is there any way to execute command prompt statements (like IMP for example) from within pl/sql procedures.I didn't particularly want to have to start writing java utilities etc, just wanted to execute commands from within pl/sql. In sqlserver you can do this in transact-sql by running xp_cmdshell. I am trying to find ways of exporting table data and being able to reimport it on another machine or even different databases - so want a comma delimited file (preferably with a format file to go with it to identify what columns there are etc.
Is this not possible then ? -

I am using Windows XP m/c with netbeans.You didn't give it hands and feet, i.e. you can't expect the cmd.exe process to fire up a terminal for its input and output; you have to do that yourself. Read all about the Input- and OutputStreams of those sub-processes in the API documentation of the Processs class.

How to execute OMB scripts from the command prompt of OS
Hi
I want to deploy the mapping from one environment to other environment using OMB script language. But I dont want to run the OMB scripts from OMB plus COmmand prompt?
All I need is , is there any way/scripts to access OMB command prompt from the general command prompt of the OS Machine?
or Can I call this OMB command from java program but not JDeveloper?
It would be a great help for me by sharing your knowledge?

Instead of using script_with_omb_procedures.tcl you can have your procedures directly inside my_script.tcl, but I like using a script apart to reuse my procedures. -
Invoking command prompt & executing a java class from one more java class

I have a problem with my application. I need to develop an editor which compiles and interpretes java programmes. I am develoopping it in Java (Swing and pure Java). I have no problem in compiling a java programme from my editor. But while execuing if any body writes a programme which has console input the system hangs. I am using Runtime.exec() method to call command prompt of Win'2000. My editor is working fine for the programmes written without console input in my editor. I want the same type of input acceptance as JCreator / Vim editors accept.
How can i achieve this? Please give me some source code help for my requirement.When you create a Process object from executing a command you can grab it's input and output streams. Using these, and a text area, you can create a "virtual terminal" for your user to work with their console programs. The rest is just details :)

App.open not responding if called from inside onclick()
Hi all.
Working on a script for InDesign CC 2014 I found this problem : if I call app.open() from inside button.onclick() it stops and nothing happens. Since I'm a beginner with Javascript I'm probably doing something wrong, but I can not figure out where I'm wrong. If executed without onclick it works....
There is another method to achieve the same result?
As my project is still under construction, I place only the portion of code relating to the problem.
I hope someone can help me, I can not get out of this hitch.

A better solution than mine. I just used a variable set inside the select button and check for the value after the window close. You can use different variables for different buttons. The approach is quite similar. Reusing Loic.Aigon code:
