Calling ESS Page from HTML

Is there an easy way to invoke an ESS provided page through pure HTML ? (Using <a href >
I am trying to avoid having to witre java code if possible.

You can use the Javascript based client side eventing mechanism to navigate to an ESS page. Find the desired page in the Portal Content Studio (role editor) and note the URI. You can find this by clicking on the page and choosing "Properties". Locate the "PCD Location" property box. It will be something like:
portal_content/every_user/general/eu_role/com.sap.portal.mypages/com.sap.portal.eu_ws/com.sap.portal.home
Copy this value to clipboard and Change to:
ROLES://portal_content/every_user/general/eu_role/com.sap.portal.mypages/com.sap.portal.eu_ws/com.sap.portal.home
Use this value in a call to the doNavigate() function:
<A HREF="welcome" onclick="return EPCM.doNavigate ('ROLES://portal_content/every_user/general/eu_role/com.sap.portal.mypages/com.sap.portal.eu_ws/com.sap.portal.home')">This is the Welcome Page</A>

How to call a page from an iview

HI SDNs
I have a requirement as follows .
I need to call a page from an iview . for that i developed a html and i gave the hyperlink to call the page.
When i click on hyperlink it is calling page but iviews are not displayed. it is showing masterhead and DLN and but iviews are not shown
Is there any soultion with out solution to display the iviews. i Appreciate if you help at the earliest.

Did you build your hyperlink using "NavigationTarget"?
ex:

The best approach would be to change the behavior of your site so that it includes index.jsp as one of the default files. Typically that is done using the upper-level control files of the site. Here's a link from Sun that describes their approach.

Actually, you don't say what type of webserver you're using, so it's really hard to guess. But if you were using an Apache webserver, you might want to review the "DirectoryIndex" directive here...

In fact, if you were using Apache and didn't want to do that, you could do a redirect to another page using the "redirect" directive in the webserver control files as described here:

What is your problem with a host command? You can use:

There a disadvantage indeed: you have to close the browser before you can return to the form.

I am trying to call a report from Static view.Now , I know we can call a page or dashboard from the statis view by writing th HTML content.
Can we also call a report from the Static View .
I tried using :

Calling a servlet from HTML

Is it possible to call a class/servlet from a front-end web page (web page is in HTML form not java form) given that I created my servlet to be executed per class? If there is, can you give me a sample code snippet on how to do this?
An example on how I call a class in my servlet:

I have already finished creating the server side code for a website and I chose to call a class inside the doPost() method. The class called will be responsible for executing the logic.
The problem arrives when the web designer created a webpage that requires more than 1 function to be called per page. Since I'm using doPost() which requires the form to be submitted, is there a way to know which submit button is clicked and thus execute the correct function?
I have a plan that I can fall back to which is to change my code so that it will read variables from the URL instead of thru a method call, but it will take more time since there are a lot of methods. I just thought I ask here if there is a way to accomplish the above so that I can save my code from this mess.

My servlet is structured in a way that it calls a method with values that it acquires from the webpage. (The initial plan was to enclose the HTML inside a servlet, but was changed so now I need to incorporate my servlets/services inside the HTML)
Like in my example, on the coordinate class x and y are acquired from input boxes located in the web page then invoked the method plot(x,y). Since it will be HTML main and servlet sub, I need a way to call plot(x,y) from an HTML page. Or are you saying that my option would be to just create an intermediary servlet that would acquire the input and then call my class to process.

Calling a page from a button url

Can you give me a hint how to call (branch to) a page from a button which is placed behind an item in a region. If I choose button to be a HTML button this should be possible. I think it's documented in User Guide Page 6-22. But description is not very informative. It's easy to do if the button is in a region position.

For buttons in region positions the branches can be associated with the button by picking the button from the "When Button Pressed" select list. For buttons displayed among the region items, you need to conditionally branch based on the request send by the button. Assuming you already created the button and a branch that takes you to the target page, edit the button, scroll down to "Button Request Value" and type in your request string, e.g. BUTTON_PRESSED. Then edit your branch, and make it conditionally based on a request "Request = Expression 1" and type in your request string BUTTON_PRESSED into the Expression 1 field.

Calling existing pages from Apex

I am working on Apex as a part of my in-house applications upgrade. At present, the intranet is written on javascript and html.
Is there a way that I can call the existing forms/reports / pages from Apex. I want to achieve that I need not re-write all the logics written, but embed already existing login into Apex screens.
Any help will be much appreciated.

So, you effectively want to embed existing (presumably custom-made) reports within the apex environment - sort of like wrapping your existing intranet in an APEX front-end?
Well, for the relevant page/report, you could create an HTML region and maybe call your existing reports via ajax methods - it would require a bit of custom javascript to achieve though. Namely it would involve invoking your remote HTML page, return the resulting HTML output into your request object, then replacing the relevant elements in the DOM with this output.
I suppose if your particular reports were too fiendishly complicated to entirely re-implement in APEX, this would be the way to go, but I have a feeling that it will require a bit of work to get going properly, indeed you could also potentially lose out on some of the benefits of using APEX (or at least, you'd be stuck with this halfway house implementation forever).
